Lyla Sage does it again with the cowboy romance. I love the angst between the main characters. On the surface, this is an easy fluffy read but it does go through some mental health representation too.
Thank you for the e-Arc NetGalley.
This was soooo much better than book one! Black cat heroine and golden retriever boyfriend! They were a perfect match, love the dual perspective!
THIS REVIEW WILL BE EDITED !
This. Book. Was. Amazing!
I’m so happy to be back to Rebel Blue Ranch and Ryder family and their friends! I adored the first book, although it wasn’t as good as this one. ‘Swift and saddled’ fulfilled all my expectations AND gave me so much more, I’m honestly addicted to this series at this point.
The funniest thing about the books I love the most is that I always struggle to review them. That’s why this is not going to be a long review. Look, I know the writing in this book was simplistic, but god damn it was engaging and fun! Lyla Sage wrote a beautiful story of two people who at first felt drawn to each other because of sexual attraction but who gradually opened up to each other and gave each other the support they both needed and love and understanding they desperately craved. I adore the way Lyla wrote Ada’s and Wes’ personalities and how well they matched. Ada past relationship left her unable to believe people could actually be good and not want to control her, and Wes’s nurturing character and his willingness to wait for her to make the most important decisions was exactly what she needed to realise her fears and self-depreciating thoughts were trauma.
I have a complicated relationship with Ada. I didn’t like her that much at the start but as the book progressed, I really started to sympathize with her as I could understand where her fears were coming from. I could especially relate to her being rude or cold to people to push them away because it’s better than becoming friends with someone only for them to realise you’re actually very much impossible to like. Even if this sounds stupid, I can fully understand her reasoning. I felt bad for her and I was so glad she had someone just as amazing as Wes to help her realise she’s not alone.
I actually really like the way Lyla Sage writes mental health problems and how she’s not scared to make them a part of the character but not something that defines them. Even if that includes Emmy asking Ada about private stuff because she says things before she thinks and as annoying as it seems, I could relate to her doing this as someone who also has adhd and brain which works a bit too quickly for me to control what sometimes comes out of my mouth.
I could spend hours talking about other characters in this book like Gus,Teddy,Amos etc. but I’m sure at least some of them will get their own books, so I will wait till then to become a certified yapper about them and their amazingness.
I loved this book with my whole heart and I CANNOT WAIT to put my hands on the next book in this series
3.5 stars for me. I really loved the first book so I think I had very high expectations for this one. Still really enjoyed it just didn’t vibe with Ada as much I think. Super excited for the next book though because I’m all for Teddy & Gus!
*Swift and Saddled* is an enjoyable romance that provides a delightful escape, though it may not break new ground in the genre. Ada Hart, a city girl with a history of failed relationships and a rocky past, finds herself embarking on a new chapter in Wyoming. Hired for a significant project at one of the state’s largest ranches, Ada is determined to focus solely on her work and avoid complications, especially in matters of the heart.
The romance in this book is well-crafted, with a slow burn that keeps you engaged throughout. The tension between Ada’s desire for independence and Weston’s relentless charm creates a compelling dynamic. While the plot isn’t revolutionary, it’s a solid, feel-good story that offers plenty of fun and flirtation. The characters are likable, and the setting adds a touch of rustic charm to the narrative.
Overall, *Swift and Saddled* is a satisfying read that balances humor and romance. It’s perfect for those looking for a light, entertaining love story with a dash of cowboy charm.
Just before reading this one I started reading thrillers and I think that’s why I can’t get through this book. There’s no suspense or anything that currently hold my attention while reading so regarding this book it me problem, not the book.
I have to admit I am not the biggest fan of cowboy romances. However, this book exceeded my expectations. I really enjoyed the characters and the spice was 10/10. If you enjoyed the first book you'll love this one, If you haven't read it, this is also a brilliant standalone and I totally recommend it too!
I am so stupid for not reading this sooner!!
I am obsessed with this series. The family, found family, friendships, love, sweetness that radiates from these characters is amazing. I flew through this book in a day as I just couldn’t put it down. I loved Ada and Wes and all the cheeky hot moments!
Amos just gets better and better. I love an older character that just knows everything that’s going on.
Such a brilliant book and now I absolutely need the next book!
This was such a good read.
I really enjoyed the story and characters, nothing can go wrong with a cowboy romance!
Can't wait to read the next one in this series
Thank you netgalley for the opportunity to read this arc
Absolutely incredible follow up to the first book in the series, although an interconnected stand alone it was great to dive back in to this series with new and old characters. Fun, swoony and just an all around good read for anyone looking for a wholesome romantic summer read.
Great spicy romance, love cowboy romance. Loved the style of writing and the plot if the storyline. Love the covers of this books. This was a great 2nd book in the series and it was amazing
In my cowboy romance Era holy HECK! This was good I was hooked!
The romance, the characters, the SPICE, the writing. Absolutely sold me on continuing. Obsessed hello new fave author. Thank you to the publisher for providing me with the arc!
I absolutely adored this! Weston was one of my favourite male main characters that I have read in a long time and I thought he and Ada were perfect together.
I will definitely be reading more by this author!
Lyla Sage has done it again with Swift and Saddled! These stories are quick, juicy and oh so enjoyable. The cosiest cowboy romance around!
This was Was and Ada's book and almost as good as the first book. Wes is such a sweetheart and a reader's delight. Ada was a bit harder to warm to initially and the circumstances of her marriage were rather sketched over. Why did Chance phone her best the end of the book? This wasn't explained. However, the story of Baby Blue's restoration was lovely and the HEA satisfying. Such a long wait for Gus and Teddy's story though!
My first book by this author (Lyla) and I have really enjoyed it. I love the relationship between the main characters Ada and Wes and how it blossomed. Their chemistry is just ahhh.. A lovely journey to read and be a part of. I love them both. I didn’t know I had a thing for cowboys but I do now * In a world of boys he’s a gentleman* 🥰
This book is well written. It is sexy, sweet, and will drag you in. I definitely recommend
I need to read Gus and Teddy’s story Lyla make it happen, pleaseeeee :).
Unfortunately the formatting was unreadable for me to read but I do think it I was able to read it I would have enjoyed it.
Lyla Sage delivers again! I was kicking my legs and squealing throughout this whole book. I need the next book like now!
i am getting continuously disappointed by how under-developed the rebel blue ranch books are. the premise of this one was amazing and i loved the initial 20%-ish. then it kind of went downhill, the romance/spice felt removed from the rest of the story and happened out of the blue. the characters were seriously good but felt a bit flat for me. i still preferred this over done & dusted but once more, feeling disappointed and underwhelmed.
I absolutely loved Swift & Saddled (just as I did Done & Dusted) to me this is on par with my experience with the Chestnut Spring series. If you love Elsie Silvers book you’ll love Lyla Sage’s just as much. This series absolutely cemented in me that cowboy romances are my fav!! 💗
I found the characters Ada and Wes so loveable in there own ways and I loved there tension and chemisty. I don’t read many reverse grumpy/sunshine books but I loved the way it was done here and how patient and compassionate Wes was to Ada.
The cosy ranch and small town vibes are similar to Chestnut springs, super cosy filled with lots of fun side characters.
I’m obsessed with this series and absolutely can’t wait for Teddy and Gus and then Dusty and Cam’s story.
