It's 4* for Swift and Saddled! I had so much fun reading this one, and adored Wes and Ada's journey together. I literally want to move to Rebel Blue Ranch and be a part of this family.
What I loved more is that while this book is fun and spicy -- making for a perf palette cleanser, there's also depth to the characters. I felt like Ada's development was so relatable, as she'd gone from a controlling marriage to trying to be as independant and tough as possible, but discovered that there is room for vulnerability in all of this, with the right people by your side. Wes was just everything you want from a hot cowboy, but I really appreciated that there was more to him under the surface w/ his MH struggles too.
This is so worth the read if you love small town cowboy romances, and I cannot wait for the next book in the series!
Swift and Saddled is the second book in the Rebel Blue Ranch series, which started off with Done and Dusted. I couldn’t believe my luck when I got an arc for Swift and Saddled! I really enjoyed Done and Dusted, so I was obviously very excited to continue the series.
Done and Dusted is about Emmy Ryder and her brother’s best friend Luke Brooks, and Swift and Saddled is about Emmy’s brother Wes and newcomer Ada Hart. You could probably read these books on their own or in a different order, but I would definitely recommend reading them in the correct order to get the best experience.
Ada is hired by Wes for a job on Rebel Blue Ranch in the small town of Meadowlark, Wyoming. As an interior designer, it’s Ada’s job to start the project of Wes’ dreams. He wants to turn the old Big House on the ranch into a guesthouse. Ada and Wes accidentally meet the night before the job starts and, immediately, sparks fly between them. But Ada has a history and is not looking for anything serious, Wes is working on his own mental health and, well, Wes is Ada’s boss for the next few months.
What I absolutely LOVE about these books is the setting. Oh how I wish to live in Meadowlark and on Rebel Blue Ranch myself! I’d love for Emmy and Teddy to be my friends, join the family breakfast on Sunday at the Big House, learn horseback riding, grab a coffee from The Bean and ofcourse meet a handsome cowboy.
What I didn’t love was that we are sometimes told instead of showed what happened between the characters or what they talked about earlier. I also felt like this in Done and Dusted. Just like there being an instant love, more based on lust, in both books. I personally prefer a more emotional connection which grows more and more as the story progresses instead of an instant connection, but again this is just a personal preference. I also would have preferred some topics to be showed a bit more, such as Wes’ mental health.
Despire this, I still think Swift and Saddled is worth the read! The story is perfect to escape from reality for a while and to dream about life on a ranch in a small town with cowboys. Again, I would love to live there! If you’re looking for a cute, fast-paced romance which is also a good palate cleanser then I’d definitely recommend this series!
Thank you so much for the arc. I’m looking forward to book three!
This was such a cute book. Was my first time reading Lyla Sage and I loved how easy it was to get into it. Character's are likable and the story line keeps you entertained the whole time. Was a very light and fluffy romance, let's be real, who wouldn't want a Wes for themselves? Perfect to read as a stand alone, even though it's in a interlocked series. Would recommend and read more of this author.
A cosy cowboy romance set on a ranch? Sign me up!
I cannot explain how excited I was to get my hands on this ARC. When I saw my request had been approved I could not wait to get stuck into it.
Swift and Saddled follows Ada Hart, an interior designer, who has been hired for a job at Ranch Rebel Blue in Meadowlark, Wyoming. The job opportunity is the perfect opportunity for her to leave her past behind and start afresh in the countryside.
On arrival in Meadowlark she decides to go to the local bar in search a much needed feed. She soon realises that there is a short supply of food, but no short supply of cowboys. Once her eyes land on Weston Ryder there is no denying there are sparks flying between them.
When she arrives at her new job the day after she is surprised with Weston again, but this time she realises that he is her new employer (talk about awkward).
This book was a gem and I absolutely loved it. I loved that there was a wide range of topics discussed in the book such as mental illness, divorce, anxiety, medication etc.
The characters were perfect - Wes was an angel and Ada was a strong independent woman. They had the best chemistry and their communication was so good (we love a strong relationship).
Sign me up for more of Lyla Sage and her cowboys; I love them.

Loved. I am very much enjoying this series, I enjoyed Done and Dusted and this was even better! Ada meets a handsome cowboy at the bar the night before she starts her new design project - in an out of character move, she ends up passionately kissing him before they are interrupted and she flees. The next day she discovers that her mystery cowboy is the owner of the ranch she is renovating- Wes. She is determined to keep things professional and he is determining to wait until she catches up to his feelings.
First of all, Wes Ryder is surely the ultimate book boyfriend?! Never has a more swoony, golden retriever cowboy ever been written. Both characters are so very likeable with interesting back stories. Ada is a bit dark and twisty and he is absolute sunshine - they are perfect. The more I read the Ryder family, the more I love them. And I think Lyla Sage is an expert in setting up a series because I cannot wait to read the others in the Rebel Blue series from the perfect amount of set up in the first two books. She’s on a roll.
What to expect:
- cowboy romance
- opposites attract
- kind of grumpy x sunshine
- he falls first
- quite spicy
- the best book boyfriend
Swift and Saddled is the second book in the Rebel Blue Ranch Series.
After finishing the first book, this one has been on my highly anticipated reads for this year.
Ada comes to Wyoming as she has just been hired for one of the biggest jobs of her career as the interior designer of a big family ranch.
On her first night in town she meets a mysterious cowboy in a bar and ends up leading him out the back and sharing a kiss before they’re interrupted by the bar’s owner. Ada wasn’t expecting she would see him again until she arrives on the site the next day and the mysterious cowboy just so happens to be her new boss.
I adored Ada and Wes’s story and I look so forward to the third in this series coming out and can’t wait to read it too.
I want to thank Netgalley and quercusbooks for generously providing me with this book in exchange for an honest review.
A great romance book, I really enjoy a cowboy romance and I found the tropes enjoyable and found myself rooting for the couple! Thank you net galley for the review copy!
4.25⭐️
I really enjoyed the first half of this book, and flew through it. Definitely a very easy read, not too much conflict or drama, more about the character development and the importance of the setting. I like a bit more conflict in my books it seemed a bit easy towards the end and I would have love to have known why Ada’s ex was calling her?! Wes was a big lump of a golden retriever and his unwavering support and love for Ada was perfect. Ada had major trust issues which she was able to work on not just with Wes but with the whole Rebel Blue gang. The family and found family vibes are strong in this book and I love that!! All my favourite scenes had Wes in them, I connected the most with his character even though I think Ada had better character development. I adore any storyline to do with fixing up a building and the fact that Ada and Wes bonded so much over bringing Wes’ dream for a guest ranch to life was the icing on the cake.
4.5 stars! I absolutely LOVED this book and I loved the story! Wes is a great love interest and I was squealing and kicking my legs quite a lot ! Highly recommend and cannot wait to read the next one !!!!
kes us back to Blue Rebel Ranch and this time we follow the lives of Wes and Ada.
Ada is an up and coming interior designer. In an attempt to progress her career she takes on one of her biggest projects yet which is to develop a guest ranch. When she arrives in Wyoming, things don’t get off to a great start. After a chance encounter with a handsome stranger in a bar, Ada discovers that the man she kissed is now her boss, Wes Ryder.
I really enjoyed reading this. It was an easy, sweet romance and I just got lost in it. Wes and Ada are two very likable characters and you instantly feel a connection to both of them. I really enjoyed their journey and how open and each they were with each other. They are just a really wholesome couple.
I would say that I felt like some of the themes could have been drawn out slightly further. The book is quite short, so a lot of issues are just touched upon.Despite this, I still thoroughly enjoyed Swift and Saddled. It was a perfect romance read.
Oh my god i adored this book!!! I didn’t think it could get better than the first but i think i loved this one more! I adored wes & ada so much, they have my heart. I loved the book and i can’t wait to read the 3rd book, i never want this series to end i adore each character <3 4.5 stars!!
Wes and Ada's story was the absolute most perfect thing I could have asked for as a reader. I adored the way Lyla Sage tackled serious topics whilst not focusing solely on them. One of my favourite quotes ever is from this book and I just adore it wholeheartedly.
“I see you, Ada. I always see you, even when you won’t look at me.”

Book: Swift and Saddled
Author: Lyla Sage
i ADORE lyla sage so much! Her writing is so comforting and easy to read, her characters are well rounded and her storylines just make me smile 🥹
Wes and Ada’s chemistry was so strong, i was laughing, giggling, kicking my feet, all of the things that a good romance book should do, this one did.
I loved Ada so much, she was so relatable to me in the way that she feels unlikable due to not being the most bubbly person in the world, when in reality, she was SUCH a likeable character. It made me look inside and reevaluate myself a little bit.
The Rebel Blue Ranch series is the perfect series to binge read and I cannot WAIT for the next book! I have been so excited for Gus and Teddy’s book since book one and I have a feeling that one is going to be my favourite!
Read if you enjoy:
🩵 Small town romance
🩵 City girl/cowboy
🩵 Grumpy x Sunshine
🩵 Forced proximity
🩵 Dual POV
🩵 Spice
(Thank you so much to Quercus for the E-ARC! 🫶🏻)
A real step down from the first one unfortunately in terms of plotting, tone, and coherency. I felt totally unmotivated by the characters' arcs.
4.5 stars
Save a horse, ride a cowboy.
I have been loving cowboy romances recently and this one was no exception. After finishing Done and Dusted earlier in the month, I instantly wanted to pick up Swift and Saddled to see what was going to happen next with these characters and I was not let down.
These books are so short and easy to fall into and to fall in love with. Once you pick one of these books up, you will not be able to put it down until you finish it. Which is exactly what happened to me.
I flew through this book and fell head over heels with both Ada and Wes and loved seeing them slowly fall for each other. There is kind of a forbidden element to their relationship as he is her boss and she is helping him with his project on the ranch. There was just something about Wes that I couldn't help but fall for. This man was down bad for Ada and even though this book feels quite short, there was so much chemistry and romance between these two characters that you can't help but root for them to finally be together.
Just like in Done and Duster, there were so many hints to future novels and couples in this book and it has made me so excited for all of the other books in this series, especially the next one which is about Teddy and Gus who I have been dying for their book since I first met them in Done and Dusted.
I cannot wait to read more in this series so if there are any arcs for Lost and Lassoed, I would really like one please :)
Loved Wes and Ada
Can tell they're exactly what the other person needs
Wes is so kind and caring you just wanna hug him
When Ada looks after him when he got cut though MY HEART
You also just want to hug Ada for the things she's been through and how she was treated in her previous relationship. She deserves so much more. (Although the random phone call from her ex was never really explained, like why did he call? Surely he would've texted after she didn't pick up? Idk)
Got to see more of the beautiful Rebel Blue Ranch and the characters that I absolutely love. Seeing how Ada's friendships with Teddy, Emmy and Cam develops had me smiling bc you know that Ada just needed some good girlfriends in her life.
Cowboys are all the rage in the romance community right now, and not many do it quite as beautifully as Lyla Sage.
Wes and Ada were an adorable pair who deserved the world together, and their Black Cat/Golden Retriever personalities were so perfectly matched.
Love love love!
I would like to thank netgalley and Quercus Books for a free copy of the book in exchange for an honest review.
This started off a little slow but I was loving it by the end. I loved the softness and enthusiastic consent.
I was so excited when I saw this was up for grabs having loved Done & Dusted. It was so nice to visit Rebel Blue and the characters again, especially as you get little glimpses of Emmy & Brooks again. This was a charming romance and I love the fact there are no big communication issues leading to a third act breakup as I find those quite predictable and, to be honest, boring. The author really explores their characters and the story felt so nicely rounded. I was sad to say goodbye to them again- but looking forward to the third when that makes an appearance!
