I received an arc of this title from NetGalley for an honest review. A great guide for younger kids, helping them identify insects.
Loved learning all the different kinds. Who knew there was so many! Can’t wait to be able to identify them now!
A great book for the little explorer. Perfect for homeschooling in the outdoors. All the kids learned something, the toddlers through the teens.
Backyard Explorer's Guide are filled with engaging pictures and facts and will help anyone of any age learn about the subject with ease.
Like with the Backyard Explorer's Guide: Butterflies, this manual is split into sections. The first has general information about the growth, development, and reproduction of insects. The second has photographs and identification information of certain species one may find while exploring.
Thank you NetGalley for the ARC. I will purchase for my library.
I read the butterfly version of this and liked it so much I had to check out the one on Insects. Same as the other review, this would make a great guide for a child interested in nature and insects. Very interesting.
The Backyard Exporer's Guide: Insects is an easy to read and well formated book on common insects you may find in nature. The appeal of this book is the many pages of insect guides that break down some basic information and includes little fun facts. There is a glossary that is perfect for young adventurers because it breaks down any hard remember words as well as jargon. A great gift for someone who is interested in insects, a young scout, or just a great way to learn how to identify insects.
Loved this one! A perfect book to take with you when you are going out exploring nature! Not only does it enable the kid to find bugs’ names on their own, but there are also tiny snippets of relevant facts regarding each one. I’d say this book is the perfect gift to any child who loves spending time outdoors and who would enjoy feeling like a little scientist, identifying bugs, and looking for insects, and learning to tell apart all sorts of creepy crawlies.
A good overall insect guide for kids. Could be improved by including more facts such as saying that the spotted lanternfly is invasive in the U.S.
