This is a great foundation that inspires women in business to truly build something, as the title suggests. It gives a lot of stats and stories that make things come to light in ways that they otherwise wouldn't. I took a lot of notes and flagged a lot of chapters to return to later. This is one of the those books that I want to share with other friends of mine who are women in business. There's just not enough business books from the female perspective, so I'm glad this book exists! 4.2

Kathleen Griffith’s "Build Like A Woman" is a refreshing take on entrepreneurship tailored specifically for women looking to break free from the corporate grind and build businesses that enrich their lives. This book is an inspiring blend of mindset principles and practical business strategies, aimed at helping women create and scale their dream ventures.

Griffith’s narrative is engaging, particularly as she draws from her own experiences of stepping away from the corporate world to launch her own successful business. Her story is relatable and empowering, especially for those who have felt confined by the traditional corporate environment. She addresses the often overlooked but crucial role of mindset in business success, a perspective that many “go, girl” messages fail to elaborate on with tangible guidance.

The book is structured around essential components for business building, such as life design, wellness practices, personal power, mindful leadership, money management, customer targeting, brand strategy, marketing plans, and sales pitches. Griffith’s holistic approach ensures that readers are not just equipped to start a business, but also to sustain and grow it while maintaining a healthy, balanced life.

However, while "Build Like A Woman" offers valuable insights, it sometimes falls short in delivering detailed, actionable steps. The inspirational tone is motivating, but there are moments where the practical advice feels somewhat generalized and lacks depth. For readers who are looking for a deep dive into the nitty-gritty of business mechanics, this book might leave them wanting more specifics.

Moreover, the book’s emphasis on mindset, while beneficial, occasionally overshadows the practical aspects. Readers might find themselves craving more concrete examples and case studies that illustrate the application of these principles in real-world scenarios.

In summary, "Build Like A Woman" is a solid resource for women entrepreneurs at various stages of their journey. Kathleen Griffith provides a much-needed blend of inspiration and foundational business wisdom, making it a worthwhile read for those ready to build not just a business, but a fulfilling life. While it could benefit from more detailed practical advice, its holistic approach to entrepreneurship makes it a valuable addition to the business book genre.

What an incredible book - There are not a lot of business self help type books written not only from a woman's perspective, but focused on women's business. This book is full of so many great statistics and advice that I will happily be purchasing a copy for all of my small business owning female friends. Really great and down to earth, cute antidotes and the kind of advice you would want to get from a lovely older aunt who takes no crap and runs her life well.
