I love this author and her quirky, fun books. They always make me smile. They are just the right blend of a wee bit of mystery and lovely romance. The characters warm my heart because I love how they always find what they need. Isn’t that all we all want in life.
Oh, I couldn’t get enough of this book and it was definitely hard to put down. We are back in Honey Creek, Texas. And, Delane had just found out that she had some half brothers and she wanted to find them. But unfortunately she ended up putting them in danger because Andi was scheduled to testify on a case and people were after her. In steps big burly Deputy Danny Davis to protect her which she tried to refuse his help she could take care of herself. Noah O’Brien left New York to open a bookstore and needless to say his parents were not thrilled with his life decisions. Bear Buchanan could fix anything you brought him and he had two daughters. Katherine less than desirable character always wanting for more. Then Cora who was a quiet person and lived above the bookstore. Eliza was Bear love interest but it had been kept a secret. All of them worked together to protect Andi and her family. Such a lovely story and it shows you how much people really care.
I received this ARC from the author and Netgalley for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
The Wild Lavender Bookshop by Jodie Thomas is a story about the confluence of six separate people on a trajectory to play a major role in helping each other find their destiny and, ultimately, a place to call home.
Noah O’Brien is a quiet, unassuming, educated young man who possesses the strength of character to leave family expectations and pull up his New York roots to move cross country to Someday Valley where his roots took hold in his beloved bookshop. Noah is an observer of his neighbors and his community. And while he takes in their stories he is trying to develop one of his own. But right now his world is pretty much the bookstore and upstairs apartment he rents from Bear Buchanan, the burly Mr. Fix it in the corner shop, and the cafe across the street. However, it seems that most everyone in the community visits the Wild Lavender Bookshop, if only to grab a cup of his coffee and some idle chitchat.
Cora Lee Buchanan is a lovely, sweet, quiet elementary education teacher who just happens to be Bear’s younger daughter as well as renter of the other occupied upstairs apartment of the strip stores. She is forever patient with her blow hard older sister Katherine and extremely caring of her dad. And while Noah quietly watches her, she is watching back.
Andi Delane is a mystery woman come to town and staying in a cabin near the river. Andi has recently learned that her birth father has passed and there is a will naming her along with some previously unknown half brothers. Andi is more concerned with the safety of those unknown brothers than any inheritance since she happened to witness something and is set to testify. Only problem is there are those who would very much like to silence that testimony. The sheriff and a Texas Ranger of her close acquaintance are looking out for her, but none so much as the young deputy Danny Davis. But Danny may just have a few things up his sleeves that others aren’t aware of. This may just be his chance to show what he is really made of.
Bear Buchanan, Viet Nam veteran, Mr. Fix it, farmer, rancher, and man who just takes off from time to time plays a vital role. Eliza Docela, Bear’s neighbor and the fairy of his dreams may be the only one who truly knows Bear. And Bear knows her just as well. It is these two people who ultimately bring this diverse group of people together.
This is such an interesting story, different for this author, and a unique spin on the journey these characters, and others, embark upon. I did enjoy this book and do recommend it!
Thank you NetGalley for the ARC The Wild Lavender Bookshop. I’m very honored to read and review #2 in the Someday Valley series. Thank you Jodi Tho,mas for another great story. This story definitely has romance but there is some suspense, also. I love this little quaint small town Honey Creek where everyone knows everyone and is always eager to lend a hand to help each other . Take my word for if and don’t miss this sweet love story. It’s a standalone but I’m recommending you read #1 which is another great story.
I loved this story , a little romance and a little mystery. great characters and the setting is beautiful. really enjoyed the book.
Jodi Thomas always sucks me into her books. This is book two of Someday Valley. There’s some romance and a little mystery. Bear is also a good character. I recommend reading this book and the first one in the series. Don’t forget her series Ransom Valley is being made into a tv series
I went into this book looking forward to a light and engaging read. In most ways, it was both. Normally I do not read books with more than two POVs. This book was the exception. You find yourself following several different people/stories/couples. At first it was confusing but eventually the story flowed. All in all, I enjoyed this sweet, small town romance. TBR and Enjoy.
It's a book full of pleasant surprises, not just from the plot and characters, but I gained life lessons which I found myself taking notes on. A worthy read.
The Wild Lavender Bookshop was a pleasant surprise kind of read. I enjoyed the unexpected emotional dynamic between the characters and the action was fun too.
Once again we're treated to a story about some of the couples that are in Someday Valley, which includes the little town of Honey Creek where our story is based.
Many people come through Honey Creek and we've read about some of them in the earlier works based in this world Jodi Thomas has created. This time we're introduced to Noah who owns the Wild Lavender Bookshop. He rents the space for the bookstore and an apartment upstairs from Bear.
Bear owns a fix-it shop and can fix anything. He has lived in Honey Creek forever and has loved Eliza forever as well. Cora Lee is Bear's daughter and lives in one of the other apartments in the building. As school teacher, she has been watching Noah and dreaming of him for a while.
Newcomer to town is Andi DeVane, ball busting female Texas Ranger who is hiding out from bad guys she needs to testify against. She decides to come to Honey Creek to see about an inheritance she and her unknown to her, brothers! The Sheriff decides Andi needs someone to look after her and assigns Dan, one of his deputies.
Now all of this sounds confusing, but, in her inimitable style, every sentence in this book weaves a trail for all of the people above, to come together and solve a mystery, and...well if I say anything else it gets to be spoiler territory!
Suffice it to say that although very busy, it all comes together in the end with a satisfying conclusion.
I'm a fan of Jodi Thomas and her 'heartland' type books. They're not for everyone, but if you just slow down, grab a glass of Sweet Tea, and take it easy while reading, they're pretty good.
Noah O’Brien quit his job sold his house and left town. He finds Honey Creek opens the bookstore and lives above it now. His parents are not happy with his choices. Noah is quiet and a people watcher. Cora Lee Buchanan is a schoolteacher and her father owns the building for the bookstore. She also lives in an apartment upstairs.
Andi Delane rolls into town to look for her half-brothers. Seems their father has left a will showing they are to inherit his estate. Coming into town she stopped for speeding by Danny Davis. Andi has really come to town to hideout from the cartel until she can testify against them.
This is a wonderful story of people coming together in a small town. I just love these stories by Jodi.
Jodi Thomas brings readers a new adventure in Someday Valley in The Wild Lavender Bookshop. This story includes three couples, Bear and Eliza, Cora Lee and Noah and Andi and Dan. Each one of these characters are well developed throughout the story. The main portion of the story is about Andi arriving in Honey Creek supposedly to find out more about an inheritance. However, there are more sinister reasons for her visit which lead to some suspenseful moments as the story unfolds.
Ms. Thomas provides a smoothly paced plot, visually descriptive writing, insights into each of the characters' lives that made the characters easily relatable, suspense and romance that kept me fully engaged and entertained.
I really enjoyed Jodi Thomas’s second book in the Someday Valley series: The Wild Lavender Bookshop. There is something very relaxing and satisfying from reading a small town romance, and Thomas definitely delivered with her charming descriptions of Noah’s bookshop and his tender love with Cora Lee. At times, it was a bit hard to follow so many switching narratives, but overall it was quite an enjoyable read.
Book two of this series with characters from first book and new ones. Still surround the lawyer Jackson Landry trying to find more siblings to settle his client will. Finding the third sibling, Andi brings plenty of trouble to Honey Creek Valley. As an undercover agent who needs to go in hiding she figures she also could discover what this will is about from a man she never knew. Plus she also has brothers to connect with. Unfortunately trouble follows her and Deputy Danny Davis is assigned to protect her, as if she needed protection. There is a love - hate relationship between the two that is about who is protecting who.
The hub of the story takes place at the Wild Lavender Bookshop and the owner Noah winds up being command central. As always there are several stories going on and a few HEA. A fast read, but not as good as some of the authors other books. Does help to have read the previous books and there is still one sibling missing. Thank you for this ARC, all opinions are mine and mine alone. #NetGalley #TheWildLavenderBookshop #SomedayValley
The narrative weaves through the lives of three couples and Andi, a sister long separated from her family. Arriving in town with danger on her heels, Andi is on a quest to connect with the brothers she's never met. Yet, the small town brings its own set of troubles, compelling those around her to go to great lengths to keep her safe, even if it means unveiling age-old secrets.
The characters are engaging, each with their own complex lives and relationships that evolve intriguingly throughout the story. While the plot is compelling, it encounters some rough patches, particularly towards the conclusion, giving a somewhat hurried feel. Despite this, the book remains a captivating addition to the series.
Jodi Thomas never disappoints.
The Wild Lavender Bookshop was such an amazing book.
Written in Jodi Thomas’s unique voice, the characters wrap themselves around your heart like a warm blanket.
Romance with mystery drizzled in, makes this book a pager turner that readers will not want to lay down.
Noah, Cora Lee, and Kathrine will inspire your heart and soul.
If you’re looking for that perfect feel good book, with mystery, and romance, this is a story for you to enjoy.
This book was given to me for an honest review.
Honey creek is the perfect setting for family secrets, secret loves, tribal tales, and overcoming obstacles to become ones true self. The characters were well written and it left me wanting more. I became fully immersed in their lives. My library ladies will absolutely love this book!
And I is a loner. She has a very secret and dangerous job. She lets no one in. That is until……. Until the day she is danger, she runs to the home she never knew, to family she didn’t know she had. The suddenly her whole world changes and she has a whole entourage trying to help her. The whole town, the bookstore owner, the kindergarten teacher, the town walkers take up her fight. Especially one deputy in particular. This was a really fun read. I did not read his was a series so will definitely visit the town again. I received this book as an ARC from NetGalley but the opinions expressed here are my own. The Wild Lavender Bookshop-Jodi Thomas-Four stars.
