Jodi Thomas’s The Wild Lavender Bookshop, the second in the Someday Valley series, is another great book. The story line follows three unexpected couples in this small Texas town. All six of the people involved have surprises in their backgrounds and things to overcome. Thomas also brings some social and historical issues into focus through the stories of these characters. And just for fun, some of the people from the previous book make brief appearances. All in all, a very satisfying read. Strongly recommended.
Since I discovered Jodi Thomas I have thoroughly enjoyed reading each of her new books. They're full of romance (not my usual genre), but also suspense and action. I love Honeycreek and the characters there. It was fun meeting new characters, especially Andy. What a spitfire! This is a wonderful book that will make you keep turning the pages.
Return to Honey Creek near Someday Valley, Texas. Noah O’Brien runs the bookstore and rents an apartment upstairs and Cora Lee Buchanan also has one there. They find themselves falling for each other. Cora and her sister Katherine are siblings who spend a lot of time trying to live their father Bear’s life. But he has a secret life that no one knows about. Andi Delane arrives in town to find out about the will of her father she never knew and to find a safe haven from the danger she is in. Many changes will occur for the residents of the town and for Andi also!
Thanks to Jodi Thomas and Kensington Books Zebra
This book held my interest somewhat. I did become bored when I was about half way through. I did like the ending. Jodi Thomas is one of my favorite authors.
This was an ok book. I felt the male characters were too woosy and not real. I did enjoy the storyline but just not something I would read again.
This book didn’t exactly match up to its description, in my opinion. This is a generally kind and comforting story, but rather predictable. It was fun to see three different love stories told in parallel, but in all cases, they may not have gotten the rounding out they deserved.
Round up to 3.5
This is one of those books that is a sweet, charming and easy read. A book that will make you smile and warm your heart. I enjoyed reading about the couples, found all the characters quite endearing and although is is a bit predictable it is still fun and a real feel good type of read which we all need sometimes.
Loved the small town in Texas feel and I could just imagine the setting and the characters in my minds eye. A fun and warm read so read it if you need a bit of a perk up as that is what it does. It will make you smile.
Thank you NetGalley and Kensington Books for giving me the opportunity to read and review this book.
A sweet romance that tended to be a little on the predictable side but still good. It was also a fairly quick read. But then I'm a sucker for books set in bookstores.
The storyline is excellent and the characters are interesting and well described.. Would recommend this book.
Thank you to Jodi Thomas, NetGalley and Kensington Books–Zebra for the arc of this book. ,
Three unlikely couples and romances are at the center of “The Wild Lavender Bookshop”, by Jodi Thomas, a story full of love, magic, and sweet whimsical moments.
I loved finally meeting the lost sister, Andi, and watching the tough detective show inadvertently her softest hidden side.
I’d already forgotten how I enjoyed the interaction between the half-siblings and missed having more of it.
The romance with Danny is fun, full of surprises and strained and difficult until the end.
Lonely and invisible Noah has his perfect match in Cora, the sweet teacher with a resolute personality.
Bear’s and Eliza story about a mature love is also rewarding and comes to a satisfying epilogue.
I enjoyed the reading and the message of hope and love.
While these peculiar characters meet and connect in unique circumstances and situations it’s as the universe is telling that there’s someone for everyone.
This book was suggested as a book for those who love authors like Robyn Carr, but for me it fell very flat. Rushed romances, super elementary writing style, and characters without a lot of substance. The ending felt disjointed.
Nice quick easy read, struggled a little as I haven’t read the others in the series but on the whole a lovely read.
This was a good quick read. It had action, hiding from drug criminals, small town feel, and a love story of course. I found the Noah and Cora story a little weird, but it did end happy. I would read more from this author. Thanks to NetGalley for the advanced copy.
I received this book for free for an honest review from netgalley
This is a new to me author. But I feel in love with the characters and setting. I wanted to set inside this book.
A small town in Texas provides romance for three couples. A wide variety of issues and complications keep one turning the pages, including suspense and danger. Entertaining ways to get to their happily ever afters. Thanks to the publisher for providing a copy. My review is voluntary. I do hope there will be a third book of Someday Valley.
This book was set back in the sweet little town of Honey Creek which I first encountered in Thomas' book "Breakfast at Honey Creek Cafe". I enjoyed being back in the town and seeing the Sheriff is grown up but still in the town.
However, this book held a lot of misses for me. I'm not sure if it's because I am reading books out of order or if it just falls flat but I struggled with all of the story lines. There are 3 "couples' points of views shown and each one of them felt rushed, not realistic, I didn't connect with them, or all of the above.
Give it a chance for yourself as so much of reviews are personal opinions.
Thanks to NetGalley for the eARC for my honest review.
The Wild Lavender Bookshop is the 2nd book in the Someday Valley series by Jodi Thomas. The book takes place in the small quaint town of Honey Creek where we meet 3 different couples.
Noah, the owner of the Wild Lavender Bookstore and Cora Lee
Bear, who is Cora Lee’s dad and his secret love Eliza
Andi DeVane and Deputy Dan who were the main two characters.
The book was slow at first during the character building but then it moves quickly through the last half of the book. I enjoyed the book but felt like at times it could feel disjointed by having the story told through 3 different couples points of view. I did love that it has romance, suspense and even a tad bit of danger all in one book. I would like to thank the author and publisher for providing me with an advance copy to review.
The Wild Lavendar Bookshop by Jodi Thomas is the second book in the Someday Valley and set the Honey Creek universe.
This story follows three couples. All interconnected living in Honey Creek. We follow the couples and how they get together.
The story is very professionally written. Ms. Thomas is a wonderful writer and I love all her books which are all set in Texas. I would love for the story to be longer and more detailed. I will just have to wait for the next one! Highly recommended.
When I open a new Jodi Thomas book I know without a doubt that I'm in for a good read. The Wild Lavender Bookshop lived up to all my expectations.
When Andi DeVane arrives in Honey Creek, Texas she is not only laying low from those who want to hurt her but she's looking for two brothers she never knew existed. In the meantime, she has Deputy Dan tailing her for her own safety. Andi is a hard woman. Deputy Dan is an intelligent, savvy big teddy bear.
We also meet Noah who is the owner of the Wild Lavender Bookshop and Cora Lee along with Cora Lee's father Bear and the love of his life Eliza.
The cliche opposites attract works for this book - hard and soft, deep abiding love all equal a satisfying read.
I look forward to the next book in the series hoping to see Andi, Rusty and Zach develop a family relationship.
My thanks to #NetGalley for the chance to advance read this book.
Five stars from me.
I enjoyed this book. It was heartfelt, romantic, and funny. It even had some suspense to it. I loved how it talked about three different characters. The ending was different from what I expected. It was better. I'm grateful that netgalley and the publishers let me read this in exchange for an honest review.
