If you liked A Good Girl's Guide to Murder, you will definitely like this! The plot was plotting! There were so many twists and turns that I couldn't see where it was going. It always kept me on my toes.
The funny banter between Bel and Ash was the cutest!
Bel's savage attitude had my heart too.

A special thank you to Random House Children’s Books for the arc of this book! I’m working on my library’s next school-wide reading event, and Holly Jackson is one of my library’s most popular authors. I know students will find the premise of this one interesting! I can appreciate how far Holly Jackson has come in her writing. This book, more so than her last few, has a well-executed twist that is both surprising and substantial.

3 stars. ARC Review! I really enjoyed the first 50% of this story. The last 50% wasn't as strong in my opinion. I did predict a couple of the reveals. Overall, it was a fun time and I def enjoyed more than Holly Jackson's most recent release but not nearly as much as the Good Girl's Guide to Murder series.

Thank you so much to Netgalley & Delacorte Press for approving me for this ARC.

This was one of my most anticipated reads for 2024 and boy, it did not disappoint. Holly Jackson does it again by having you hooked from the first page until you turn the last page 448 pages later. I don't even know where to begin with my review because I loved everything about this book. From the main characters to the very ending of this book, I loved it. Obviously, Rachel Price has reappeared, but her daughter, Bel, is not buying it. She immediately realizes something is up and she will stop at nothing Bel is such a bad-ass. Her interactions with other people come off rude and bitch, but it's understandable. It has been only her and her dad her whole life and she has many walls up to protect herself and the people she loves. She's strong and resilient and would do anything to figure out what happened with her mom, even though she was very weary of her at first. Holly Jackson is truly the queen of YA mystery and thrillers. With every page you turn, it will have you second-guessing what your theory first was, and I must say I didn't guess any of the twists and turns that we experienced in this book. It's an absolute wild ride and I will definitely be going and picking up a copy for myself. To finish this review off, your family may not seem who you think they are...

What does Holly Jackson put in these books?? I couldn’t stop reading this, and when I HAD to stop, I was still thinking about it.

This is very different from AGGGTM, although it has similarities. The short-named girl who could almost be a manic pixie dream detective, except that she can be mean and make mistakes and, of course, she has a whole deep emotional life. (I know some people don’t like close third person, but I love it, and it works so well here.)

This is just full of so much dread, even though you know Rachel is going to reappear from the title. You’d think there wouldn’t be much tension in a reappearance story, but there is, SO much. I couldn’t put it down.
I predicted some things, but I did NOT predict the kidnapper. There were like, 10 twists. Highly recommend. I don’t think it was quite as good as AGGGTM, and the ending felt a tiny bit like a copy of one of the books from that series, but overall still a 5 star YA mystery. She is really the peak of the genre.

Thanks to Netgalley for the earc!

Holly has once again shown why she is the queen of YA mystery/thrillers. I was hooked from page one, and the twists and turns never end. Found myself reading at 4am still wanting to know what would happen. I hope this one gets as big as AGGGTM!

Holly Jackson is the BEST of the best of YA thriller/mystery. The Reapparance of Rachel Price is no exception. The documentary aspect was SO FUN. And while this is a bit of a trope now, Jackson was able to add enough to make this unique and a standout. I couldn't stop turning these pages and will be widely recommending.

I was so excited for this book but I think the high of GGGTM is hard to chase. While it was a compelling plot, it felt like the author tried to throw every true crime element and red herring at the reader which got tiresome. I did enjoy it overall but it was not the same as her original work for me

Excellent! The ending was great! I thought I had it all figured out and I didn’t! I love this Author so much!

Thank you PRHAudio for the ARC audiobook and e-arc of this book!

I was so excited to read Holly Jackson’s next book but…

I… just didn’t really love this story. It just didn’t really grip me from the start. The plot was a little slower than AGGGTM, and it felt a kinda drawn out.

Bel also annoyed me, and I think that really impacted my overall thoughts / experience. The last quarter of the book got my interest (I actually really enjoyed it) and is the reason for the three stars. Otherwise, probably would have been two.

I also just think in general I may not vibe with Holly Jackson’s writing style. If you liked AGGGTM, I’d say you’ll probably like this. However, I would suggest physically reading over the audiobook.

After disliking the third book in the Good Girl’s series and being 100% underwhelmed by Five Survive, I am happy to report that I loved this.

The Reappearance of Rachel Price was such a ride. There was so much suspense. There is no one you can trust. It was very twisty, but in a way that really worked for me. I thought the mystery was well-plotted. Did I figure out a lot of what was happening? Yes, but I enjoyed my entire reading experience and was satisfied with the ending.

If you loved Good Girl's Guide to Murder, I think you will love this. If you haven't, Rachel Price is perfect for fans of YA mysteries, true crime documentaries, family drama, and mother and daughter relationships.

It’s about time I finally got around to reading a Holly Jackson novel. I’ve seen her books everywhere and was fortunate to receive an ARC of this one.

Rachel Price disappeared sixteen years ago without a trace. Her car was found at the side of the road with her two-year-old daughter, Bel, still inside strapped in her car seat. Present day, Bel and her father are being interviewed for a true crime documentary about the unsolved case – and Rachel shows up very unexpectedly. Where has she been?

Somebody is lying, and Bel won’t rest until she discovers the truth. I liked Bel. She’s intelligent, speaks her mind, and has no qualms about dealing with the local police chief or anyone she suspects of hiding the truth from her. She enlists Ash, who is part of the film crew, to help with her investigation. A romance develops between them, but it’s a very small part of the story.

I started out listening to the audiobook, but switched to the ebook because I could reach the end faster than the narrator. I was all in with this mystery and needed to know the truth. Red herrings, twists, and surprises wait around every corner to throw the reader off the trail. The person I initially suspected was correct, although the end result encompasses more than I thought. When the reason Rachel disappeared comes to light, it felt shallow. Considering the shocking circumstances she experienced, the motive didn’t seem strong enough to me. Looking at other reviews, I’m in the minority on that aspect, so don’t go by my opinion.

This is a long novel at around 450 pages, but you’ll be so engrossed that the pages will fly by. Recommended for readers who enjoy true crime stories, complex family dynamics, and mind-blowing endings.

I received a complimentary copy of this book from the publisher through NetGalley. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

I’m a big fan of this author, she has a great way of telling stories that keep you intrigued. This was no exception it was one of those could this actually happen type of books. The documentary aspect brought me in too, I’m always loving that type of book (mixed media, podcasts, letters, etc.)

Bel was amazing to me from the second she was introduced. She was such a smart a**. She told it how it was no matter the situation. I did find her angsty teenager act a bit over dramatic around 60% in until the end.

I’m always going to be a fan of this author, she writes great YA mystery/thrillers. I honestly thought this book was a bit too long for what it had going on, all the side plots could have been handled in maybe 50 pages less. It’s a comfort to pick up one of her books and immerse myself into the mystery and try to solve it myself.

I read this in one sitting. Let me start off by saying that I devour anything Holly Jackson writes. I was a little later than usual to the AGGGTM hype, but when I read it I realised that if anything, Jackson had a way of crafting out wonderfully intriguing characters. I had so much fun reading this one. If you’re interested in complex family dynamics and even more complex plot, pick this one up. The main character, Bel and her dynamic with her family, especially carter, had me tearing up at multiple moments. She was also an incredibly fun narrator to be in the headspace of. This was a thrilling ride from start to finish and I cannot wait to see what Holly Jackson has in store for us next!

2 disappointing stars. This was such an interesting concept, but it really did not work for me. There was so much potential for this to be a great mystery-focused thriller, but I felt the execution was really bad and boring.

There was no depth to anything. Not the characters, not the plot, not the writing. Everything was surface-level and none of it made much sense.

The characters don’t sound or behave like people at all! It got quite infuriating. The main character is annoying and a horrible person to a degree that goes beyond an “unlikeable” character who is fun to read about. The plot is weak and very slow-paced. You have to wait quite a while for that blurb- and title-promised reappearance and you can figure out most of what’s going on about 20% into the novel. The documentary and the people making it? Not actually that important or involved in the story!

It’s also insanely repetitive. The same ground gets covered again and again. There is no tension at any point and with so little going on in this, it could have been a novella. It might actually have worked in that format!

Some of the commentary on parenting is also more than questionable.

I saw another review on here that mentions how selfish and rude the FMC, Bel, is throughout this book. And I guess she is. But here's the thing - she doesn't owe anyone to be a likable character. Girls don't have to make everyone like them. She had a ton of trauma - and yes, that's on her to work through, but she is literally still a teenager here. Everything about her character felt authentic to me.

I saw another review that said simply: men really suck. And when it came to this story, yeah, most of them really did.

Look, there are parts of this story that maybe irked me a small amount, or that were pretty unrealistic. But I don't read fiction for it to be realistic lol! Overall, this was a really fun story, it kept me guessing on the why's and the who's.The ending wrapped up a little too cleanly, but this one was good!

Thank you Netgalley and Delacorte Press for the advanced readers copy!

I was so incredibly disappointed in this book. From the vulgar language to the lackluster writing it was such a let down. The main character Bel is obnoxious, rude, entitled and not at all likable. There were some interesting plot twists but come on Holly, you can write much better then this.

This was my first mystery thriller the beginning is slow and the banter was entertaining. I just don’t enjoy mystery thrillers. If you are looking for a ya one though I would give this a shot!

The disappearance of Rachel price is a young adult thriller based on the mystery of Rachel price. Rachel price’s car was found on the side of the road with her toddler in the backseat and Rachel missing. About 16 years later they are making a documentary of the disappearance of Rachel Price. While making this documentary Rachel price reappears after all these years. The daughter of Rachael Price, Bell price finds Rachel prices story very unconvincing. Bell price starts to dig up and investigate all the secrets Rachel is hiding. Bell begins to discover secrets that are within her own family.

This young adult thriller was so good. I could not put this novel down with all the spins and secrets that were being discovered. Bell Price was a great MC to follow, girl was not messing around with all these family lies. She didn’t care who you were, if you lied she was going to find it out. The major spins and secret reveals brought so much to the plot. Now I did guess some of the family secrets and reveals. However, this is a YA thriller so I think it’s perfect for that age range. I’m so happy about the ending! I’m not gonna lie I almost cried just by the connection the girls have. Overall I rated this novel a 4.5 so good!

I LOVED this. It took me awhile to get through, but it was so intense. I was at the edge of my seat the whole time. My favorite Holly Jackson book this far.
