I will admit I didnโt read the description or look into what this book was, I picked this one up because I like Holly Jackson and I definitely was not disappointed. I will admit the beginning was a little slow for me and I started to wonder if I had made the right call but once it got really going I was enthralled. I loved this twisty turny story so much. Our narrator, Bel, is a hard character to like. She is prickly and mean and since everyone always leaves her she is quick to push people away. Bel and her family are part of making a documentary about Belโs mother who disappeared when she was 2 years old. It has remained a local mystery and despite her father being charged for the murder he was found not guilty and no other suspects have ever been identified. They arenโt fall into filming when Bel spots a strange figure walking along the road and she is shocked to discover that it is her mother. Her mother tells a sad story, but something doesnโt sit right with Bel and she is determined to figure out the truth despite the rolling cameras.
This was great! I didn't like it quite as much as A Good Girl's Guide to Murder, but it was still excellent. I thought Carter being Bel's sister was maybe a layer too far, but it didn't totally ruin the book.
Rachel Price went missing 16 years ago without a trace. Now, her 18 year old daughter Bel and the Price family are participating in a documentary about Rachel's disappearance. While in the midst of the documentary, Rachel suddenly reappears. Bel is having a hard time believing Rachel's story and starts her own investigation into her mother's disappearance and reappearance. What is Rachel hiding? Was she even abducted or did Rachel run away? Bel isn't quite sure what happened, but one thing is for sure; nothing is as it seems.
Review:
I love Holly Jackson's writing. I read every book in her AGGGTM series and absolutely loved them! The Reappearance of Rachel Price has a slow start. I will say that I was not truly invested into the story until the last half of the book. I think that it was a little too long and could have been shorten to give it a faster pace. The last 20% of the book is where the action picks up. I really loved the ending and didn't see the twists coming at all. This is a classic, who can you trust story, and I love that in a thriller! Overall, I really enjoyed my time reading this one and I would definitely recommend picking this one up!
Thank you to NetGalley, Holly Jackson, and Random House Children's/Delacorte Press for this ARC of The Reappearance of Rachel Price in exchange for an honest review.
The Reappearance of Rachel Price gripped me from the first couple of chapters. A documentary being filmed about the disappearance of Rachel Price, and Bel is having to rehash the tiniest of details that she can remember about her mother before she disappeared. Next thing you know, Rachel Price reappeared. With Bel skeptical of her motherโs reappearance, she enlists the help of the funny eclectic cameraman Ash, who she kindles a little romance with. I really enjoyed Belโs sleuthing skills, and her banter with Ash. I think the middle of the book went a little slow to me, but I believe the ending of the book made up for it. The ending tied everything into a nice little bow, a happy ever after. To me it was a good book. Itโs not my favorite from her, and I found myself taking a while to finish it, but it still was an enjoyable book.
I absolutely loved this book! The author does a great job leaving breadcrumbs to follow as Bel tries to figure out what really happened to her mother. I felt as if I was going on this journey along with the protagonist. The clues and plot twists kept me glued to the pages. A perfect 5 star mystery! Thank you for the opportunity to read in advance!
Holly Jackson is one author I will always read no matter the book. She is a staple on my shelf and an author I will always recommend. From the beginning until now, she has a way with her storytelling that makes you not want to put your book down and The Reappearance of Rachel Price was no exception. Filled with mystery and an intriguing story that's gripping, in a way that only Holly Jackson can do. I've read many different books by many different authors and Holly Jackson is one of the unique ones. If you have a chance to read any book, read this one!
Bel Price's mother has been missing for 16 years. She was almost 2 years old when her mother was abducted from their vehicle and was never heard from again. When her father agrees to a documentary on her disappearance all these years later, Bel is faced with trying to remember and recall what may have happed. When Rachel Price suddenly reappears, Bel has questions. Where has Rachel been all of these years and why is she just now coming back? Was she really abducted? Bel believes Rachel is lying and she will stop at nothing to prove she is.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the free copy of The Reappearance of Rachel Price by Holly Jackson in exchange for my honest review.
I was intrigued right from the start with Rachel Price missing case and it gets a lot more interesting with her sudden reappearance which will led the readers take a closer look to the Price family - they're not as perfect as we thought.
I really enjoy my time following Bel and Ash as they investigate Rachelโs reappearance. They made a pretty good team and their bantering gave a humor aspect against the gloomy and dark mystery plot.
Lots of suspicious characters and several clues thrown throughout the story had me glued to my kindle and my brain kept making theories.
I guessed some of it right, but even then the big reveal still had ONE TWIST that caught me by surprise!
However, there are a few things that made me didn't fully enjoy this book like the slow pacing and some information/act that was repeatedly mentioned. Nevertheless, I still found this book enjoyable to read.
Overall, this was a really good mystery thriller with a dash of romance.
Easy to read writing style and clever unexpected twist had me hooked into the mystery of Rachel Priceโs reappearance.
I would recommend it for those who enjoy YA mystery thriller!
Thank you to TBR and Beyond Tour, Netgalley, author and publisher for giving me an e-ARC of the book and for having me on this book tour. Iโm leaving this review voluntarily!

Holly Jackson is back to her old best!
4.5 stars.
Annabel Price, now going by Bel, was just two years old when she was found in the backseat of her mom's car on the side of the road while her mom, Rachel Price, had vanished without a trace. Now eighteen, Bel and her father Charlie agree to a true crime documentary about Rachel's disappearance, which was never solved. But in the middle of filming. the unthinkable happens - Rachel. long presumed dead, suddenly reappears (this is not really a twist, as the title gives it away clearly). Bel is weary of her mother's reappearance, questioning her story and her motives, and decides to investigate on her own, uncovering the shocking truth about what really happened sixteen years ago.
After the horrible disappoint that was "Five Survive", Holly Jackson's latest novel shows she's still got it. "The Reappearance of Rachel Price" has everything a good YA novel needs - a plucky but headstrong and smart protagonist, some parental issues, a supportive sidekick or two, and a lot of mystery. While I was super annoyed by the film crew - which was depicted as nice side characters that were absolutely unprofessional and horrible at their jobs - and some twists in the end were predictable while others were a bit over the top, overall this was a very enjoyable, appropriately creepy YA mystery that kept me hooked and had me devour the book in one sitting. My only side note: do we really need scenes about teenagers - not to mention the book's heroine - smoking? Do we not all know better at this point, teenagers included?
Thank you to NetGalley and Delacorte Press for the ARC in exchange for my honest review. "The Reappearance of Rachel Price" is slated to be published on April 2, 2024.
I canโt believe this but I think I liked this book better than AGGGTM trilogy. (Though it will always have a special place in my heart) First off a huge thank you to Netgalley and Delacorte Press for giving me an arc in exchange for an honest review.
Sixteen years ago Rachel Price disappeared and Bel has lived in her shadow. Now Rachel is back and Bel thinks not everything is as it seems.
This thriller kept me on the edge of my seat the entire time, I can confidently say I donโt see the twist coming and Jackson does an incredible job at weaving tension, mystery and action into each of her books. With every turn of the page I felt my own anxiety rise just as Bels did. I absolutely adored this book and the ending was as satisfying as I could hope. I really canโt wait to see what Jackson writes next.
I highly recommend this book if youโre into fast-paced, thrillers filled with amazing twists and turns. I read this book in one evening and canโt wait for more!

Summary: Annabel "Bel" Price is being interviewed for a true crime documentary about her mother Rachel's disappearance. Bel was only two years old when it happened and was the only witness. She doesn't have any memory of what happened, but when her mother reappears she has some investigating to do.
My Thoughts: I've heard such good things about Holly Jackson I requested my first book by this author. It's a great mystery that followed Bel and her storytelling about what could have happened to her mother Rachel. Bel's father Charlie went through a trial as Bel's Grandmother Susan pointed the finger at him. Bel was very bitter and jaded after all the years of speculation, and that she couldn't remember anything. I enjoyed getting to know the Price family and Rachel's return.
Love this author and all of their books! This one was fun however there was one aspect of the ending that didnโt seem realistic! I needed more on what happened to that person or something! Still solid!
Welp. This book cemented the author as auto read and auto buy. I mean of course I've already read her and obviously I saw her name on this and had to pick it up...
Anywho. This book. Bel. Ash. Carter. Charlie. Jeff. Rachel. Sherry. Pat. Ramsey.
What can I even say? I don't want to say because the delight on this whole story is what you don't know. Did I guess any of this? No, not really. Which I find beautiful and I am so beyond thankful to read a book that just keeps you guessing.
A story that's plotty and twisty.
this was my first read by Holly (although I do own all 3 books in a good girls guide to murder trilogy๐) and i will definitely be reading more by her asap! the writing style of this author is impeccable and I just really clicked with it overall.
the TWISTS. i melt for a good thriller with twists that i just can not predict myself. this had just that!! ๐ฅน๐ซถ๐ป this was such a fun read with great supporting characters and i surprisingly loved the true-crime feel.

Holly Jackson, you are insane. The plot twists in this book had my jaw on the floor. I was pacing around my house stress reading trying to piece everything together.
I absolutely love how Holly writes her complex female characters. Bel Price you are so loved by me. On a serious note, I loved how she wrote Bel and the way she wrote her relationships with other people such as Charlie, Rachel, and Ash. Speaking of Ash I LOVED him and Bel. Holly owes me financial compensation for how much Ashbel has already rotted my brain.
This book cemented Holly Jackson as one of my favorite authors and Iโll be reading anything she writes. Thank you so much to NetGalley and the publisher for providing me with this arc in exchange for an honest review!
Holly Jackson, do you really think The Reappearance of Rachel Prince is better than AGGGTM? I respect your opinion, but are you sure?
This book is just okay. It feels rushed, and the characters are barely tolerable. The focus on the show fades as the story progresses, and the ending feels too good to be true. I appreciate when the plot threads come together, but here, it feels forced and unrealistic.
What disappointed me the most was the absence of newspaper clippings, charts, text screenshots, and other additions that appeared in the AGGGTM trilogy. They brought depth to the story and enhanced the reading experience. Why weren't they included in this book? Adding them would have been a welcome touch, and I'm sure every Holly Jackson fan would have appreciated it.
On the bright side, it's a quick and somewhat enjoyable read. It's not my favourite, but I don't regret spending time with it.
Okay, this book got me good. It felt a little long in the middle but the ending made every single page worth it. So good. Want to reread it via audio!
There are *a lot* of reasons to love this latest book from YA thriller queen Holly Jackson, but I've tried to capture here my top 5 for you!
1. It's Holly Jackson. Enough said! I mean, not only does she have the best name (ha!), but she is quite possibly *the* reigning YA thriller queen! Seriously, I must not have even looked at the synopsis when I signed up for this, because I thought the title referred to a teen who'd gone missing--that's how eager I was to read the next HoJay book!
2. The book is a great examination of how our past traumas shape us, even if the event itself happens when we are far too young to actually remember it. Because trauma isn't just a one-time thing, is it? There are residual emanations that last--sometimes years, sometimes forever. Traumas shape who we are as people, and they affect our relationships with other people far into the future.
3. There is an amazing bond between Bel and her cousin Carter that I loved so much and just really had me missing my older sister.
4. The mystery is *so* well-done, I was quite literally oblivious until the moment Bel discovers the truth herself. And I'm not saying this in a cocky way, but that literally almost NEVER happens to me at this late stage in my life when I've read hundreds of mysteries and thrillers.
5. The book is a great examination of the lengths to which a parent/parents will go to protect their child. What do you do if you find yourself suddenly a single parent of a 2-year-old, with a missing spouse and suspicion on you for their disappearance? What would you do if that missing spouse suddenly reappears? What do you do if you are instead the missing spouse who has returned--do you tell your child the truth about what happened to you? So many points during this book had me questioning just what I would do for my own son!
Seriously, I cannot recommend this one highly enough. And in typical Holly Jackson fashion, it's not only twisty and thrilling but also deeply emotional. Also, she never writes as if teens are too young to handle the horrors of the world, which is one reason I especially love reading her books. Go pick this one up, you won't regret it!
Rating: 5 stars!
The plot, the characters, the setup, the intensity of each moment leading up to the reveal were heart pounding. The number of times that I had to take a break due to my anxiety were incalculable. I was hooked! Then the last 10% of the book came. The direction the characters went was disappointing to say the least. I love a revenge story, but bloodthirsty vengeance and ridiculous peril that the characters were placed in ruined it for me. Still a solid story. Incredibly well written and paced, but much like GGGTM #3, the characters' actions were a huge letdown.
This book was EVERYTHING I needed and more. Holly was the initial reason I got back into reading forever ago and this is exactly why. Her writing is engaging and all encompassing. I ate this book up from start to finish and could not put it down. DO NOT miss this. 5/5 glowing stars!!
