Holly Jackson doesn't write bad books, as her books are always full of atmosphere and suspense. The Reappearance of Rachel Price is a true crime mystery thriller centered around Bel, whose mother Rachel suddenly re-appear from thin air after 16 years in the middle of filming the documentary about her.

Bel is a female mc who is blunt and says what’s on her mind, she doesn’t sugarcoat things to be liked. It’s refreshing and made her feel more like an actual human. Also her pushing away people, before they can potentially leave her was a bit too relatable. I wish the rest of the characters had had as much of a personality to them.

Furthermore, as you can expect from a mystery thriller, there were a ton of twists and turns. Some were more surprising than others. There’s also a lot of family drama, so if you like that then this book is full of it.

But the book fell a bit short for me with a slow pacing, an overall cast of characters that didn’t interest me, and a story that at times felt repetitive. It’s not a bad book, but it just wasn’t for me.

Another great mystery from Holly Jackson. The Reappearance of Rachel Price kept me on my toes until the very end. Bel is our narrator, she's full of teenage angst, and not always the most reliable. She navigates us through the story of her mother's disappearance and then sudden reappearance 16 years later. Bel isn't sure who to trust, therefore you won't know who to trust. Get ready for so many twists and turns that you'll be dying to know how this story will end.

Thank you for an early copy of "The Reappearance of Rachel Price." I enjoy Holly Jackson's The Good Girl Guild books; it was one of my favorite series. I just started reading a couple of days ago, and I am enjoying the twists and turns of this novel. The story is about a young girl named Bel whose mother went missing the reappeared all these years ago now Bel want to uncover the truth why her mother return all these years later. Far so I like the book I can put it down. Happy almost pub day for Holly jackson and Thank you Delacorte Press and Net Galley.

I was so excited for this as a lover of AGGGTM... but this fell flat for me. The characters were extremely unlikeable. I felt like Bel was terrible to everyone she met. The story was very slow up until like 60-65% and then it just continued to become even more unbelievable. I fell asleep at least 2 times while reading because the story progressed so slowly. I did enjoy the suspenseful bits but I felt like there weren't many of them. If you go into this expecting AGGGTM you're going to be disappointed.

I absolutely tore through this book, and if you enjoy the author’s previous series, A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder, then you will too. This fast paced, true crime thriller will rip your heart out, step on it, then mend it back together. Holly Jackson never fails to leave me amazed and utterly shocked, and this jaw dropping new release is no exception.

The Reappearance of Rachel Price Review

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5

Rachel Price has been missing for the past 16 years. Its become of the most popular true-crime cases in Bel’s town and unfortunately for Bel, Rachel Price is her mother.

When a documentary crew strikes a deal with Bel’s dad to cover the unsolved case, Bel is forced to relive a day that she doesn’t even remember which in turn causes some of the Price Family’s secrets to become revealed.

When Rachel Price turns back up and Bel finds her, Bel is forced to take a look at the life she has known and question, who really is Rachel Price? Will Bel ever know what happened that day when she was left in the backseat of her mothers car?

Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher Delacorte Press and author Holly Jackson for sending me an ARC of this to read.

Well Holly Jackson is becoming an auto buy author for me. She’s done it again with a fast paced fun YA thriller that will leave you guessing on what really happened to Rachel Price for the last 16 years.

This book was a fast paced read with a lot of characters. My sister and I buddy read this one together and blew through it in a couple of days.

In my opinion, Holly Jackson’s books always teeter between being a true YA or adult thriller. There are some pretty adult themes in this one, and a lot of language. However I like the way she writes them and her style. It’s fun to read thrillers with younger characters as the stars and is refreshing from some of the adult thrillers I am often reading.

All that being said, I did find Bel to be a little immature and unlikeable in many instances. I felt that the story also progressed a little two slow and in turn had an abrupt ending that left me feeling like I had whiplash. I wish we would have gotten more of the ending and after the final truth is revealed.

This is still a great YA thriller, and if you like her other stuff and books similar to them you will love this too. Glad I got this one from NetGalley and can’t wait to buy a physical book for my bookshelf!

If true crime is your jam, then you will enjoy this one. It was a fun and entertaining read following Bel discovering the truth about her mom. I really liked the making a documentary angle and there was a little bit of romance that I also enjoyed. The pacing was a little slow and the narration was a little repetitive, but other than that it was filled with suspense and twists that kept me wanting to read.

The story starts off with a documentary being made about Bel’s mom, Rachel’s, disappearance. While the documentary is being worked on, Rachel reappears after 16 years. Bel is happy that her mom is back but starts to quickly grow suspicious of her mom because her story of who took her and where she was don’t add up. For example, Rachel makes a comment about a bracelet that Bel used to have and the only picture of it is on her social media.
How did Rachel know? She was as supposedly held captive for 16 years. But soon, the truth starts to unravel itself and things are more complicated than they first appeared

So this book was just meh for me. I didn’t hate it but didn’t love it either. It was slightly predictable but some twists I didn’t guess. The ending was not great. I would pass on this one, you aren’t missing much

While filming a documentary about the compelling case of Rachel Price, she reappears and her story isn’t adding up! Bel decides to take things into her own hands and find out what exactly happened with her mom. This story was packed with suspense and the ending wrapped everything up nicely in a bow! Loved this book!

This was my first Holly Jackson book (even though I own three others, haha), and it did NOT disappoint!

Anabel was likable and fun to follow throughout the whole story. She was relatable, funny, and strong. This was a fun true crime thriller with a twist at the end that I didn't see coming!

Thank you, NetGalley, for the ARC in exchange for an honest review!!

I will read anything that Holly Jackson writes!

It was a little slow to get started, but around halfway through I could not put the book down! It had all the things that I love in a thriller: plot twists, unreliable characters, and a documentary.

Wow. This is probably my favorite Holly Jackson book YET! I am literally flabbergasted by this book.

16 years ago Rachel Price disappeared. Her daughter, Annabel (Bel) left in the backseat, alone. Bel and her family agree to a documentary about Rachel's disappearance - and not long after filming starts, Rachel reappears..

Rachel's reappearance opens a lot of family secrets, twist and turns you don't see coming, and an ending that leaves you insanely heartbroken but also immensely happy - the only way I can describe this.

I have read every single Holly Jackson book and this one, you can really tell, her writing is shifting! This is a YA thriller, but as an adult - I was fully immersed, I loved every second of this one.

I want to thank NetGalley, Random House Children's, and Holly Jackson for advanced digital copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.

Such a great read! Students can completely relate to this book’s characters. The concept seems to be ripped from the headlines which gives the novel a believable feel. Great plot twist and satisfying end!

There are so many twists and turns in this book! I didn’t figure out any piece of the puzzle until the end. My favorite book of Holly Jackson to date!

In The Reappearance of Rachel Price, Holly Jackson crafts a suspenseful narrative following Bel, whose life is upended when her long lost mother, Rachel Price, suddenly reappears after sixteen years. Jackson adeptly weaves together Bel's skepticism and her determination to uncover the truth about her mother's disappearance and subsequent return.

The story unfolds through Bel's eyes as she navigates her conflicted emotions towards her mother while simultaneously filming a documentary about Rachel Price's disappearance and now reappearance. Holly Jackson's use of short, digestible chapters keeps the pace brisk and engaging, making it easy for readers to stay immersed in the narrative.

However, while the book is a compelling read, it does suffer from some plot inconsistencies and stretches of believability. There was one particular plot twist that I wished Bel did figure out because I think that would of been an interesting twist and a big moment for her as the FMC. Additionally, the ending veers into the realm of the over-the-top and unrealistic, detracting somewhat from the overall impact of the story.

Despite these drawbacks, The Reappearance of Rachel Price remains an enjoyable read, showcasing Jackson's talent for crafting gripping narratives with interesting characters. The novel ultimately succeeds in delivering a captivating tale of mystery and family dynamics. Fans of Jackson's work will likely find much to enjoy, and as a newcomer I am enticed to explore more of her writing.

I received an advanced reader copy of this e-book via NetGalley and Random House for review. All opinions are my own.

Holly Jackson does not miss. This book was gripping from the start and I could not wait to watch the mystery unravel. I read the majority of this in one day because I couldn’t put it down. I loved the plot and the characters and just everything. I highly recommend.

Holly Jackson is the master of the mystery. This book was no exception! I liked it as much as Good Girl's Guide if not even more.

I wanted to love this book, but I just wasn't having a good time. But the pacing was too slow and I found it all very obvious because of that slow pacing. Also, the characters were fine, but there were times where they would latch onto big life changes too quickly in my opinion.

I would recommend this book to teens and people who love over the top drama true crime stories. Because I do believe that there will be people who love this book. It just wasn't me.

Thanks for NetGalley and the publisher for a copy of the eARC in exchange for my honest review.

Thank you NetGalley for the arc!!

One thing about my girl Holly Jackson is that I’d never want to get on her bad side bc her books genuinely scare me! Another thing about her is that she never misses. This book had everything I needed and more and I was engaged from literally page one. The characters, the mystery, the timing, and the twists were just perfect. Every detail mattered and it made perfect sense but I didn’t see the overall conclusion coming. I love love love this book and it honestly rivals the first agggtm for my fav Holly Jackson book!!
