Thank you for the ARC. I’ve liked other Holly Jackson books and this did not disappoint. It was a quick read and engaging. I think fans of her other books will also enjoy it.

The Reappearance of Rachel Price by Holly Jackson is a true crime mystery that is slowly unraveled in this twisty thriller with a fast-paced ending.
Annabel (Bel) Price was two years old when her mom disappeared leaving her alone in their car. Now, 16 years later the case is still an unsolved mystery. Bel’s family agrees to participate in a documentary regarding the case, during which, Rachel mysteriously reappears. Bel is in a race to figure out who she can trust as she gets closer to uncovering the truth.
My favorite part of this book is the strong-willed and outspoken main character, Bel. She is quick witted and does what it takes to find out the truth even when she is afraid it will hurt her and her family.
For me this book was a slow burn and unfortunately at times, much too slow. However, I would not let that deter you from reading this book because the action packed and fast-paced ending more than makes up for it.
This was a great YA read!
Thank you to Random House Childrens’s and NetGalley for the ARC.
Holly Jackson is the queen of young adult mystery thrillers. The story was unputdownable. The writing style is so interesting and immersive. I've read a few others from Holly Jackson, and this was definitely my favorite.
The main character, Bel, was a witty, smart, and real 18 year old. The plot was expertly crafted. Holly Jackson has a knack for pull off thrillers like this- keeping readers engaged while throwing in twists and turns that also make total sense and leave no plot holes.

Favorite Quote: The plot hadn’t really got going yet - a lot of backstory - but something exciting was going to happen soon. It had to: the title promised it.
Story Synopsis: Bel Price’s mom, Rachel, disappeared sixteen years ago. Now, age 18, Bel and Bel’s dad have agreed to be the subject of a documentary on Rachel’s disappearance. Harboring resentment toward her mother, Bel pushes people away and lives quietly with her dad, Charlie.
Until Rachel reappears.
The documentary pivots to dive into Rachel’s reappearance, but Bel is deeply suspicious. The timing is too perfect. Rachel arrives in the same clothes she disappeared in. And Rachel keeps making mistakes about her reappearance and how long she was gone. With her father stressed and distant from his wife’s reappearance, Bel does the only thing she can think of: solve the mystery of Rachel Price.
Why does this book beguile? I thoroughly enjoy Holly Jackson’s writing. I’ve read all her books: she’s quick, punchy, and doesn’t draw things out unnecessarily. The Reappearance of Rachel Price is, I think, Jackon’s best work yet. Bel is a believable character, and what she goes through is fascinating. It unfolds like a true-crime documentary, with the fun bonus of the behind-the-scenes pieces of knowing the film crew. The twists kept me anxious and turning the pages!
Bel can’t remember anything about the day her mom Rachel disappeared. After all, she was just a baby left behind in her mom’s car. Bel would like to move on with her life, but when her father agrees to film a documentary about Rachel’s disappearance, Bel again finds herself being asked questions she simply cannot answer. Things get even more complicated when Rachel suddenly and inexplicably reappears.
With her mother back in her life, Bel finds herself overwhelmed by all the unanswered questions. Who took Rachel and where were they keeping her all these years? Can Rachel herself be trusted? It will be up to Bel to run an investigation of her own to unravel the mystery.
Fans of A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder will be happy with Holly Jackson’s latest. It is an intriguing mystery where the reader, like Bel, is not sure who can be trusted. Bel isn’t always the most likable, but she has witty moments where she endears herself to the audience, and her extreme distrust of others is fair.
There are some aspects of the book that call for a suspension of disbelief (especially when it comes to the ending), but it is a highly enjoyable need addition from Jackson. It will be interesting to see if Jackson opts for a sequel, as Bel’s story could be further explored.
This book grabbed my attention immediately and didn’t let go. When 18 year old Bel’s mother reappears after being missing for 16 years Bel can’t help but feel that something isn’t making sense. The author takes you on a journey of twists and turns as Bel digs into her past for answers. I loved that I was surprised by every turn that the story took. I didn’t feel like it was predictable or that it was making unnecessary plot twists. Everything came together nicely and all loose ends were wrapped up. I definitely recommend this book.
RATING: ⭐️⭐️⭐️💫/5 (3.5/5)
The Reappearance of Rachel Price by Holly Jackson is about Bel, a high school girl who when she was 2 years old, was in the backseat of her mother’s deserted car after she disappeared. But when a documentary film crew comes to town, and begins to make a true crime series about her mother’s disappearance, Bel’s mom returns after 16 years, and Bel questions everything.
I liked this one! I thought the story was interesting and definitely kept me on my toes. Some of the plots twists I was able to see coming and felt a little predictable, but there were certain parts that I did not see coming that made the book really enjoyable!
A lot of the characters seemed really immature to me, which is okay sometimes because the protagonist was a high schooler and this book seemed geared towards young adults, but even the adults in this book acted very immature. Although books can be YA, the adults in the YA still have to act like adults if that makes sense?
The beginning of this book started of a little slow for me. Also a LOT of telling and not showing at the end here. I would have liked to have seen some parts flushed out more.

“It’s a murder mystery- about a fucked-up family.” “I like it already.”
“The name Rachel Price is almost synonymous with mystery. Because her disappearance was like a puzzle, and it’s human nature to want to solve a puzzle, don’t you think?”
AGGGTM series is actually the series the sparked my initial love of mystery books, so I was very excited to read something else by Holly Jackson and this did not disappoint. Bel's mom disappeared 16 years ago, when Bel was only two years old. After all this time, her family agreed to participate in a documentary about her mom's disappearance, but things really start to get juicy, when, as title promises, Rachel Price re-appears. In classic Holly Jackson fashion, Bel takes uncovering the secrets and lies of the past into her own hands to try to discover what really happened when Rachel disappeared all those years ago and what that means for her reappearance....
When I tell you I was on the edge of my seat the entire time, to the point where I couldn't sleep, I just had to know what happened.... I mean it, I was literally shaking & holding my chest the whole last 20%. What makes this so good though, was that it wasn't just this thrilling story but it has so much humor (Bel's sharp tongue and wit had me cracking up), so much heart, and even a little bit of romance (Bel and Ash > Pip and Ravi, I said what I said).

If you have ever wanted a book that gives you the same vibes & keeps you on the edge of your seat coming up w/ theories in the same way that a TikTok video w/ multiple updates over several days does then this is the book for you.
I seriously could not stop trying to figure out what was going on, who to trust or what to make of each of the characters throughout the story. It was incredibly fast paced, full of twists and turns and made me remember why I fell in love with Holly Jackson’s books in the first place.
This is an absolute must read for any fans of AGGGTM and the YA mystery/thriller genre. Absolutely incredible book!
Thanks to NetGalley for giving me access to this ARC! Holly Jackson really knows how to write a page turner and I’m thrilled that I was able to read this in advance.
I was enthralled with the mystery of the disappearance of Rachel Price from page 1, and while I had my suspicions about what really happened, I was unable to predict most of what transpired in the end. I loved it until the last 30ish pages — the cover up is never as compelling as the mystery.
One other tiny nit pick: it’s dance class, not dancing class.
This book was so engaging and kept me guessing from beginning to end! I love Holly Jackson’s writing and she always has the most unique format to her books, with this one being no exception. It was a a true crime documentary type and it was super entertaining. I definitely enjoyed and didn’t guess the plot twist. I’d for sure recommend as well🫶
3.5 rounded up to 4 stars. Holly Jackson created her own dilemma by writing such a great trilogy as most of our exposure to her. While this isn’t at that level, it was a good read! I wanted to keep going all the time-stayed up late, wanted to cancel plans to finish. So many truly implausible parts but, overall, a different storyline than I’ve seen before and very detailed. Some reveals are shocking while others you see coming but it all unfolds nicely to tidy everything up with a nice bow at the end.

This book had so many twists and turns, I couldn’t keep up! I absolutely adored Bel, she was everything I could’ve wanted in a main character. The mystery was so intriguing, it kept me on the edge of my seat the entire time!
I highly recommend The Reappearance of Rachel Price to anyone who enjoys mystery novels.
Holly Jackson writes some great mysteries and this was just another great addition to her catalogue. My one critique is that the ending wrapped up a little too nicely for everything that happened. But besides that, I think this is a great addition for young readers everywhere.
Ok, Holly Jackson has done it again! This took me back to the feeling I had reading the OG A Good Girls Guide to Murder. The way the story plays out completely grips you. Following Bel along as she tries to figure out her mother Rachel’s mystery was such a ride. I couldn’t put this book down and it was every bit as juicy as I was hoping it would be.
Okay first off I will say this book was so good! The twists are classic Holly Jackson style and they really swayed my perception of the characters. I found the ending really satisfying and to see how it all played out in the end and how Rachel dealt with everything was so amazing. 4.5 stars!
I'm a Holly Jackson fan and am so excited to be able to read an advanced copy of her newest book. Jackson's books are twisty turny mysteries that I really enjoy reading. This was no different. What happened to Bel's mom 16 years ago? Is she really dead as presumed? I enjoyed this story and the twists. Another good one from Holly Jackson!
The Reappearance of Rachel Price follows Bel Price as sher works to uncover what really happened to her month Rachel Price after she mysteriously disappears and reappears 16 years later. Bel & her father Charlie agree to be the subjects of a documentary done by british filmmaker Ramsey as her works to uncover what happened to Rachel and how that has effects the life of her daughter Bel. As shootings kicks off Rachel reappears leaving everyone surprised at her survival story and excited to see her back, except her daughter. Bel knows something is wrong about Rachels story but needs the help of Ramsey and his crew to figure out exactly what that is.
The Reappearance of Rachel Price left me on the edger of my seat guessing and guessing what plot twist would come next. I absolutely LOVE Hollys writing and characters in every single one of her stories. If you like true crime fiction, this is the book for you. Thank you to Net Galley and Random House Children's for the ARC.
Thank you to NetGalley for this fabulous ARC.
This book was Holly Jackson at her YA finest! I absolutely loved it and couldn’t put it down. So many twists and turns! I really enjoyed the characters and the way the story developed. I really felt for Bel throughout the plot. Her feelings on people always leaving her struck me right in the heart. I won’t be forgetting this one for awhile!
Thank you to Netgalley and Delacorte Press for the opportunity to read and review The Reappearance of Rachel Price early.
4.5/5
Description: Bel (Annabel) Price has grown up in the shadow of her mother's strange disappearance. Why? Because she was with her mom when her mom disappeared. Bel was only 2, so she has no memory of what happened. 16 years later, Bel's dad agrees to let a documentary crew create a story about the disappearance. What nobody is expecting is for Rachel to come back. Where has Rachel been? How was she able to come back? Bel doesn't trust this woman who's been gone for 16 years and comes back without a clear explanation. Can Bel figure out what happened to Rachel, before something happens to Bel?
The good:
- The pacing was extremely well done. I did not want to put it down.
- The mystery and concept felt fresh. I could not predict a thing and having a documentary crew following the story was a great touch to the perspectives you get in this story.
- I appreciated Bel as a main character. You felt like you were right by her side the entire time.
- The cast of characters you meet are unique and everyone has a secret that you can't wait to uncover.
The loss of a half star:
- There is just one plot point where it felt wrapped up too fast? I just didn't understand the choice based on what we know about the character and I have lingering questions regarding this point, which I don't like to have with standalone.
Overall, if you're looking for your next fast paced, YA mystery standalone, you MUST pick this up!
