Thank you, thank you, thank you to the publisher for letting me read this book early!!!

So, like most other people, I LOVED A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder, which meant I was eagerly anticipating this author’s newest release.

This book follows Bel, a girl whose mother was abducted when she was a toddler. The kidnapper took her mother Rachel, but left Bel in the car. This happened 16 years ago, and a documentary crew has come to the town to report on the story. But everything changes when Rachel appears back in town…

This was so intriguing! There were so many twists and turns! Normally I’m pretty good at figuring out the villain but in this case I was totally thrown for a loop when that came to light. With Holly Jackson you know to go in expecting crazy twist after crazy twist. Even with that mindset, my mind was still blown.

I will say that one thing that really detracted from me with the book was the character of Bel herself. She was very unlikable. I get that she has abandonment issues and such, but she was rude to literally everyone for no reason. She was tough to like, and though I did warm up to her eventually, it took a while.

Still, I loved this one and have no problem recommending it!

I really enjoyed this one. This was a quick, action-packed, and fast-paced read. Readers who enjoy YA thrillers will not be disappointed. Only criticism is that the ending could have packed a little bit of a bigger punch, but I found this enjoyable nonetheless.

Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for this ARC!

Thank you NetGalley for the ARC. A true-crime mystery thriller? Count me in! Bel's mom disappeared when she was 2. 16 years later Bel is part of a true-life documentary telling the story of the disappearance and murder. But not everything she was told as a child was accurate. What really happened?!

As a certified Holly Jackson and young adult thriller connoisseur, I have the authority to say this book is simply amazing. It has vibes of AGGGTM, but an entirely different vibe as well. The main character and narrator, Bel, is snarky, and has traumas, and flaws. Is she as smart as Pippa? Who really could be? But there is also a Ravi-type of sensitive male character too, if that's what you're into.

The main character, Bel, goes through her life being known as "Rachel Price's daughter," even though she never really knew her mom. Rachel Price disappeared 16 years ago, and 2 year old Bel was left in the backseat of her car. Present day, some British film makers are making a documentary: The Disappearance of Rachel Price. That is until Rachel Price shows back up. The Doc is now renamed: The Reappearance of Rachel Price. What an interesting occurrence, Bel would say too interesting. Is it all fake? What really happened all those years ago? Is Rachel Price to be trusted?

YOU CAN FIND OUT WHEN THIS BOOK COMES OUT APRIL 2, 2024!

This story focuses on Bel whose mother, Rachel Price, disappeared 16 years ago from the car where they had been together. Her family decides to participate in a documentary investigating the case when Rachel Price reappears. The who, where, why and how of her disappearance remain unclear through much of the story.

This book topic was right up my alley since I am a fan of true crime and documentaries. However I did have a hard time getting into it. I don’t know what it was but I struggled to pick up the book a lot of times. Once I started reading it did draw me in though and eventually I was more invested. I will say that I definitely had no idea what was going on, who was the bad guy, what really happened. I think because it was so hard to make sense of what was going on I wasn’t as interested at times. The last half of the book was a quicker read though. The ending was a bit much for me and wildly unbelievable but sometimes you have to just go with it. I did end up liking the book.

4.75 stars rounded up

So far, this has been my favorite Holly Jackson that I've read. I loved Five Survive two years ago, but there was just something about this one that hooked me. I buddy read the ARC with my friend Anna and we said "okay, let's plan to read 8 chapters a day so it takes us about 6-7 days to read it." Great, cool, good plan.

We finished it in like 36 hours. I couldn't put it down. Once the ball really got rolling, you couldn't have torn this book from my hands for anything in the world. The only reason it lost .25 stars for me is that I feel as though one character's story doesn't wrap up in a way that leaves me without question. I won't put who that is here bc spoilers, but that was my literal only complaint about this book.

I've read a few of the other reviews and saw that some people didn't like this book because they found Bel to be unlikeable. I think that yes, there were definitely times where Bel is unlikable, but that girl has been through it. THROUGH IT. So of course she's unlikeable - it's explained why she is the way she is very early on in the book.

Overall, I loved this. Absolutely loved it. SO glad I've got a signed copy on its way to me.

Thanks to @prh for my #gifted ALC and @netg for my ARC.

I’ve been a huge Holly Jackson fan for some time now, so I had high expectations. And let me tell you The Reappearance Of Rachel Price met those expectations and then some. This one actually might be my new favorite book of hers. There’s something about her writing that just causes me to binge-read them all.

Bel’s mom Rachel Price disappeared sixteen years ago and everyone has assumed she’s been dead all this time. Bel’s dad was charged and found innocent of murdering her. Then the Price family decides to do a true crime documentary about Rachel she shows up with a wild story about being abducted. Bel has her doubts about Rachel’s sudden appearance back into their lives. Let me tell you that’s just the beginning of wild plot twists.

This was a very addictive and twisty read that I had so much fun reading. Every time I thought I had it figured out there was a crazy plot twist that was wild. I definitely would recommend this to everyone who loves twisty and fast-paced thrillers. The audiobook version of this was top notch too so if you’re into audiobooks give this one a go.

If I've said it once, I've said it a hundred times... YA thrillers and mysteries will always be my jam. They're fast-paced, heavy on the action and plot without getting weighed down by too much detail and prose. But make no mistake... the character development and depth was there for this one, like Holly Jackson always manages to do. Much like her prior books, the mystery aspect grabs you almost immediately, and doesn't let go until you've gone through every twist and turn and up and down. Just like Pip, our young heroine Bel is intrepid and brave, and ruthless in her pursuit of the truth. But unlike Pip, this time it is personal - sixteen years ago, her mother disappeared into thin air, never to be seen again. But in the midst of a documentary about the now cold case of her disappearance, she reappears out the of blue with an unbelievable tale of kidnapping and captivity. But Bel doesn't believe it, and goes on a quest for the truth. But the truth isn't easy to parse out with everyone around her keeping hold of their own secrets, and she's not sure who to trust. Who can she trust? The plot is full throttle from the get go, not letting up until the final climatic scene.

This plot was very good and fast paced. The book kept me captivated and wanting to keep reading especially when I wasn't reading the book. The plot was believable and very well done. It’s about Bel, a girl who has lived her whole life as the girl whose mom disappeared without a trace. Rachel Price disappeared from her car on the side of the road, leaving Bel as the only witness as an infant. 16 years later the Price family agrees to be the subject of a true crime documentary, dragging up the past. But in the midst of filming, Rachel reappears as if she never left. A very long book but super well done. I highly recommend!

I wanted to love this but just couldn’t. It was a very fast read - I just felt like the ending fell very flat for me. I was hoping for something a bit more realistic lately? I couldn’t vibe with the main character either. I think it was good - I was hooked into the story. It just fell a little flat for me.

Loved this one! Surprises around every corner and definitely kept me guessing. Lots of big twists that weren’t predictable like a lot of books can be. I found myself wanting to flip pages so quickly just to find out what happened! Definitely one of Holly Jackson’s best!!

Phew. That was a ride. So many twists and turns. Just when you thought you might have something figured out you realized you were totally wrong

First off I would like to thank NetGalley for a copy of this ARC.

Now don’t come for me, but this wasn’t my favorite. It wasn’t bad, but something was missing?

It took me 2 weeks to read this which is crazy because I ate up AGGGTM so maybe I was just wanting that book instead? I think the story line had a lot of potential but I guessed the ending halfway through the book so it wasn’t crazy to me.

Idk. I think people should read it and decide for themselves, but it fell short for me🥲

Thank you to NetGalley, the publisher, and the author for an arc of this book in exchange for an honest review.

I had high hopes for this book as I love Holley Jackson’s other books but this one just fell flat for me. I was bored throughout most of the book and didn’t really want to continue reading it. I read it just to be done with it. When it finally did get interesting it felt like every single important thing or ending to the mystery was dumped in the span of two chapters and it felt pretty overwhelming. I also didn’t really think any of the characters were likable so it was hard to actually care what happened to them in the end. Overall I’d give this book a 3.5 only for the plot twist.

This book was not what I was expecting. The premise was good but the book was so slow. The first three fourths of the book was boring to me and I skimmed through a lot of it. All of the action came at the end of the book and it was so much crazy all at once. The author threw a bunch of shocking information at the main character Annabel, and she seemed to just be fine with it and go on about her life at the end. This book was just ok for me.

We have another winner from Holly Jackson!

The A Good Girls Guide to Murder series had me in a CHOKEHOLD back in my teacher days and I got so many students hooked on it. Because of this, I will read anything she puts out because it will always hit the spot for a YA thriller.

The Reappearance of Rachel Price had super likable characters, a story that didn't read young at all, and an edge of your seat mystery you can easily get engrossed in. I highly recommend it!

Wow! I love this author. Every time I read a Holly Jackson mystery, I know that no matter how many theories I come up with that the ending will always be a shocker. And, this is just another perfect example of that.

Bel's mom disappeared, or in Bel's mind, abandoned her 16 years ago. Her father is allowing a team of cameramen, etc. to finally make a documentary about the disappearance when Bel is 18. But, when Rachel Price staggers to her home and reappears, Bel questions everything about her.

This story has a romance, a lot of family drama and more twists and turns than I could count. I loved every part of this and definitely recommend it!

Out April 2, 2024!

Thank you, Netgalley and Publisher, for this Arc!!

I love a true crime/documentary angle, and loved picking up vibes ala things like The Staircase. The characters are well-drawn and I was sucked into their family drama--enough so I have Opinions on what certain characters did, especially in the end! They feel real to me, ha. Because I am very well versed in this sub-genre, I did guess most of the twists, but it made it all the more sweet to get to the end and realize I was right! :D

This book was a wild ride! Not once was I convinced I knew what was going on. Every time I thought I had something figured out I was wrong. I really enjoyed Bel as the narrator. She brought a very interesting perspective to the story. Also her loyalty to her family made the plot even more interesting. I love Ash with my whole soul! He is such a sweet little eclectic boy! I did get to a point where I thought the twists were getting to be a bit much, like there was too much happening to keep up with at the end but they also kept me on the edge of my seat. It was easy to trace the twists through the plot once they were revealed. Holly Jackson did an excellent job setting it all up. There was one characters ending that I didn't love or really understand. It felt a bit cruel. But overall I enjoyed this book.

I'm a huge fan of Holly Jacksons' previous books and I was so excited to receive this ARC! This reminded so much of my favorite parts of AGGGTM but with the spin being a documentary on the family involved. I was immediately hooked on this book and the twists and secrets kept coming. Bel's mom, Rachel, disappeared 16 years ago with 2 year old Bel left behind in the car and while they are filming a documentary about her disappearance, Rachel reappears. Bel becomes suspicious of Rachel almost immediately, catching her slip up about her disappearance, so Bel decides to do some sleuthing of her own and figure out if Rachel really was taken or did she disappear on her own and leave Bel behind. The ending I only sort of figured out, there are so many pieces to put together, it's hard to get every single one. It did start to feel a little longer than it needed to be but I think all of the reveals made up for that slow pace in the middle. If you love dysfunctional families and YA thrillers, especially AGGGTM, you will most definitely enjoy this one!

Thank you to NetGalley and Delacorte Press for an ARC in exchange for my honest review.
