Holly Jackson has done it again! What a wonderful book that made me keep reading from the first page to the very last. This book starts with Bel living a normal life until her mother arrives after being gone for 16 years. The journey that I got to experience with Bel was amazing and this book was written beautifully. Five stars for sure!!

First I would like to thank Netgalley and Random House Children’s for this ARC.

I loved, loved, loved this book. I couldn’t put it down. This had all the same vibes as Holly Jackson’s A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder series but it was its own story. It was a great true crime thriller and it had me second guessing everyone in the both throughout.

And also like AGGGTM it had the elements of a YA novel but it was done so well it didn’t make me feel like it was just for a younger audience. Bel (the main character) didn’t come across as very likeable but as the story unfolds you can see why she does what she does but she grows so much and it was so well done that she made sense to the story.

This book was twisty and fun and I cannot wait for it to come out in April so I can share this book with everyone.

A very well deserved 5/5 stars

3.5 stars, but I am rounding up.

I am not sure how I feel about this book. The premise seemed promising, but the story was kind of all over the place. And for a YA book, it sure uses f*** a lot. I read this book in hopes that I could recommend it to my students (I teach middle school) like I have recommended other books of her, but this is not the case with this one.

Unofficial Synopsis
When Bel was only two, her mom mysteriously disappeared with her as the only witness. But now, almost 16 years later, her mom reappears.

Rachel’s story as to what happened to her is unbelievable and Bel isn’t quite on board with it. But is she telling the truth? Bel is determined to find out.

Review:
Holly Jackson writes such fantastic YA Mystery Thrillers, and this one was no different. I think that this one had a similar feel to AAGGTM, but of course it was a different book. I fell in love with Annabel’s character fairly quickly in this one, she was so well rounded and written. I think that for a young woman, she is very relatable and will resonate with a lot of people. I was rooting for her to get the answers she so desperately sought the entire story. The other characters were well done as well and added a lot to the story. They truly brought it to light. I did feel that the pacing was on the slower side, and the book could have been shorter, but I did enjoy it. I absolutely loved the ending on this one, it was so pulse pounding and really brought the story together nicely. I think that it was a little farfetched, but for me it worked, and I ate it up. It was amazing, just the perfect ending.

The Reappearance of Rachel Price

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✨/5

A gripping mystery thriller following one teen’s search for the truth about her mother’s shocking disappearance—and even more shocking reappearance—during the filming of a true crime documentary.

I loved loved lovedddd this book!!! I will read literally anything Holly Jackson puts out I was so happy to see I got this ARC! If you read and loved AGGGTM, you will no doubt love this!
I read the whole AGGGTM series, I fell in love with the characters and the plot and the suspense and this was no different!! I loved Bel’s character and how determined and headstrong she was. There was a small unexpected side of a little teen romance which was so cute!
I also loved the format of this? It was like documentary style and you’re following along in real time discovering that Rachel is in fact alive, and with a lot of questions and secrets following her reappearance!! I was so immersed I was feeling all of Bel’s emotions and cautiousness, I didn’t know what or who to believe which is the best feeling when reading a mystery, the writing was so so good.

For that half a star, the reason was just because of the ending. It was definitely plot twisty and crazy which I liked, there wasn’t a dull moment in the book overall, but the reveals did feel drawn out and I feel it could’ve been revealed in pieces or shorter instead of like maybe 10 pages long

I was so focused and drawn in to the story and mystery it felt like I was watching a movie in my head, the writing and plot was so good. I couldn’t put it down…like actually I was up until 3am when I finished this, nothing could have distracted me.

So! This is your sign to pick up “The Reappearance of Rachel Price” when it comes out April 2nd, 2024 (Less than a month away!!!)

Thank you to NetGalley and Random House Children’s Publishing for the e-copy ARC and opportunity to read for my honest review!!

This book is one of my absolute favorites that I’ve read this year! I absolutely loved the “A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder” series and found myself comparing the two. Bel is the complete opposite of Pip and she is so complex. The different levels of character we get to learn about Bel really makes the book.

The twists and turns of this book really keep you moving through the book and make it such an exciting read. I never knew for sure where things were headed and I love when a book does that!

I have a fan of Holly Jackson but some of her books are stronger for me than others -- and the reappearance of Rachel Price was a home run! What a fantastic novel, well written and an incredibly insightful look at family and how we can be manipulated by those who claim to love us most. This was just so devastating, and I cannot recommend it more highly. Just an excellent example of how outstanding young adult literature can be

I really enjoyed this book. I haven't read any of Holly Jackson's other books but they are really popular in my library. This was an intriguing mystery and kept me guessing.

Thank you netgalley and random house for allowing me to read this book early!!! I never thought in a million years i’d get this ARC!

This book was nothing short of amazing, 5 ⭐️ i didn’t want to put this down after i hit the end of chapter 7 👀. Holly jackson’s best book yet! I have read her entire backlist, and this book took the cake. The book starts off with 18 year old, Bel, being interviewed for a documentary about Rachel Price, her mother, who went missing 16 years ago. The incident was never solved, it remains a mystery. Hints the documentary. As they are shooting the documentary, Rachel Price suddenly reappears saying her captor just let her go. Why? Bel decides to make it her mission to figure out what is going on, investigating secretly trying to unravel any clues she can find when she starts to suspect her mother/family isn’t being completely honest with the help of her cousin Carter, and a unique, weirdly dressed assistant helping in the documentary, Ash.

Bel was definitely the strongest character Jackson has written by far. I loved her personality, she was strong willed, didn’t want to be compared to her mother, and didn’t mind telling people to F$?& off. I even loved the banter between her and Ash and was rooting for them by the end! THE PUG SHIRT!!! I think the book was very well written and i can tell how much the author has improved in her story telling and writing! I loved the twist, the angst, and the ending was perfect. I will DEFINITELY be on the lookout for any new releases in the future.

HOLLY JACKSON YOU ARE THE QUEEN OF YA THRILLER/MYSTERY! 👑

This book, oh wow where do I even begin? It was WILD! After reading Five Survive last year and finishing AGGGTM trilogy last month, this book just solidified Holly's place as another auto-buy author to me. After getting a literal chill down my spine after the 77% mark, I could not put this book down, I finished reading at 1 A.M last night, fully knowing that I have to wake up in 4.5 hours to go to work and I have to look like I didn't have less than five hours of sleep in the morning (but it's SO worth it). It's been a while since I did that.

The Reappearance of Rachel Price is as plotty and twisty just like Ramsey promised it to be! Especially the ending...who would've thought it would end like that? This book kept me at the edge of my seat as I, along with our main protagonist Annabel "Bel" Price tried to piece together the puzzle that is Rachel Price's disappearance 16 years ago. Was she truly missing? Or was she just running away? If she DID went missing, who took her? But then, why did some details in her story change?

Thank you to NetGalley and Random House Children's, Delacorte Press for this gifted eARC in exchange for an honest review.

his book was everything I thought it would be and more. The mystery was so intriguing and it hooked me in right away. I love this genre of books and this was a wonderful time. I was suspicious of everyone early on and the plot was a huge rollercoaster. Holly Jackson knows how write a good thriller. Some of the parts were predictable but this book mostly had me on the edge of my seat. Whenever I felt like I almost knew what was happening, she throws in another plot twist. I had strong emotions about all the characters too, I loved the dynamic between Carter and Bel. Ash was also just such a cute part of this dark book. This was so hard to rant about without spoiling 😭. I would 100% recommend it!

The Reappearance of Rachel Price is another enjoyable Holly Jackson novel, which did not disappoint! The main character, Bel, was with her mom when she disappeared 16 years ago. Bel was only 2 at the time so she does not remember what happened. She is shooting a documentary with her dad and extended family when her mom reappears. Bel has always been very close with her dad, finding Rachel’s presence to be overwhelming to the family, and leaving her skeptical of her mom’s story.

The plot was very twisty and keeps you engaged as a reader. The only con was that I found this book to be very predictable; however, still really enjoyable! The ending was done perfectly. Thank you Netgalley and Random House Children's Publishing for the ARC of this book.

Holly Jackson knows how to write a thriller and I was hooked by the mystery immediately. I was invested and wanted to know what happened next. A little out there. Very dramatic. Something you read to turn your brain off and just have fun. But of course with serious dark elements at times that come with the genre.

Bel was a very interesting main character in the way that she was actually a total villain for like 90% of this book. While it was entertaining and drove the plot forward her utter suspicion and at times, hatred, for her mother was a little unbelievable. I know she has trauma but why does she immediately 100% believe her mom’s lying? Like just days after she reappears she’s making her do the documentary and just acting dastardly. It’s acknowledged thats shes mean and it was pretty entertaining in the end.

Most of the time is spent on the main plot and Bel’s relationship with her mom but all the other characters were interesting when we saw them and were enjoyable.

The end was very villain monologue heavy with the main mystery unfolding via long blocks of dialogue. Lot of characters just talking about what happened in the past. It got a little boring as it dragged on.

The many many twists in the plot were implausible and the characters weren't fully drawn enough for me to care much about what was going on for them. Character motivations were unclear or improbable, and I couldn't get over some of the plot holes. It has a fairly quick pace, so if you're looking for something to read that'll give you some lifetime movie drama or want some shock-factor twists, it could work. This one just wasn't for me.

This is the best thriller I’ve read this year! I so happy I discovered @hojay92 book. This book left me with a “what the heck did I just read ?” Feeling. The twist and turns throughout was great. I didn’t have a clue how this would end until it ended! The stories told from the POV of bel price. The young girl who was left in the back of a car after her mother disappeared. 16 years later her family is doing a documentary on the unsolved case. Halfway through the making of the film her mother miraculously reappears. From here all hell breaks loose literally. There are so many twists and turns in this family it will make your head spin. The storyline kept me on my toes. The author did a great job of keeping the reader guessing. I felt like I was working right along side Bel to uncover the truth. I can say the ending I was not expecting but wow what a story.

𝗥𝗲𝗮𝗱 𝗶𝗳 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗹𝗶𝗸𝗲:
➡️true crime, murder, attempted murder, kidnapping, child abduction,
➡️family drama x10
➡️witty sarcastic characters
➡️who did it scenarios
➡️multiple plot twists

The narration by @sophie_amoss_vo_actor was amazing. She did a wonderful job. If you are a thriller lover I can’t recommend this highly enough.

“Rachel Price had disappeared and reappeared. And now Bel knows for sure, she was lying about some of it, maybe all of it.”

Lights. Cameras. Lies.

I loved Holly Jackson’s Good Girls Guide to Murder series. But I think I loved this standalone more! I flew through this book in one night, I literally was not about to put it down until I knew the truth about Rachel.

Like any thriller, this has a twist, and I didn’t guess what was actually happening. I had a very small part of it right, about where Rachel was, but the story wrapped up in ways I could never have imagined! I also really liked the actual ending and how the characters are left.

This makes me really excited for another other stand alone books Holly Jackson writes!

HOLLY JACKSON CAN DO NO WRONG!

As soon as I saw that Holly was releasing another book after I had devoured her Good Girl's Guide series and Five Survive, I knew I would love this book just as much. The way that she releases just little tidbits of information, primarily through the main character's perspective, keeps the reader engaged, wanting to read more and then you find yourself second-guessing your thoughts so that when the twists are finally revealed, you sit there wondering how you didn't see it. Masterfully done! She carefully crafts her character development and storyline to where you forget that her books are YA because it is so well done!

I won't waste too much time giving a synopsis, but in this book, we meet the Price family. A family with an abnormal life after the disappearance of Bel's mom Rachel; mysteries and secrets that are waiting to be unraveled, and an 18-year-old girl who questions everything because of the trauma of her mom leaving her, only to return 16 years later. Can she trust this woman who gave her life but didn't raise her? This woman who she thinks is lying? What really happened to her mom and will Bel be able to accept the truth?

Don't hesitate to pre-order this book! If you loved any of Holly's other books, you will not be disappointed!

A huge thank you to Random House Children's and NetGalley for allowing me the opportunity to do an arc review for this one! It was well worth the wait!

4.5 stars rounded up. Holly Jackson has done it again. The writing was engaging, relatable, and had me on the edge of my seat. Just like the A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder series, she had me questioning my own morals and definition of right vs wrong. Highly entertaining, thought provoking, and all around edge of your seat fun.
