I really enjoyed this book! It kept you guessing, and usually I can figure books out way before the twists are exposed, but this one has some pretty good ones. I would recommend this book, great pace and easy read.

The Reappearance of Rachel Price is like watching or listening to your favorite true crime podcast/video, and being fulfilled when it’s over with a jaw dropping twist. I love when you’re watching a documentary and you keep saying, “next episode” until you finish it - and that’s what I did this with this book! While this is a plot driven book, and my love for some of the characters did not live up to Holly’s previous characters, the plot kept me guessing every second. Can’t wait for the release in April and for the world to be just as shocked as I was!
Thanks to Net Galley for this ARC and the opportunity to read from one of my favorite authors!

Annabel (Bel) was a baby when she was found in the backseat of her mom's car on the side of the road one evening. No one knew what happed to her mom Rachel. 16 years later there aren't any answers to her mom's disappearance. A documentary is being made about the case when Rachel shows up with a unbelievable story of what happened to her. Bel notices her mom's story changes and there are some weird vibes between her parents. Also Bel doesn't feel safe when she's alone with her mom. As Bel scrutinizes her mom's story, she finds lots of secrets that have been hidden for a long time. This has a dark and disturbing ending.

What can I say about Holly Jackson's writing other than I love her?!
Bel Price has lived most of her life without her mother. To her, the past is the past and should just be left alone. That wish is not to be fulfilled though since her family has agreed to tell their story of Rachel Price's disappearance in a true crime documentary- something she is only tolerating because she knows they need the money. The documentary is turned on its head and Bel's world set aspin when Rachel suddenly reappears. Where has she been? And why has she returned now? Bel is determined to uncover the truth, no matter what it is.
I went in with big expectations and The Reappearance of Rachel Price did not disappoint. The story sets off at a run from the very beginning and the twists and turns keep you guessing until the last chapters.

This will be an easy sell for readers who are already fans of Good Girls Guide to Murder. Lots of twisty drama and complicated characters.

The Reappearance of Rachel Price is a mesmerizing tale that captivated me from the very first page just like A good girls guide to murder did. With its gripping opening scene and masterful storytelling, the novel immediately draws you into its world of mystery and intrigue. As the plot unfolds, each chapter reveals new layers of complexity, leaving you eager to uncover the secrets hidden within its pages. The characters are compelling and well-developed, making it impossible to put the book down as you become deeply invested in their fates. With its seamless blend of suspense, this book is a must-read for anyone who loves a book that keeps them on the edge of their seat until the very end.

This was my first Holly Jackson book and I loved it! I do kind of wish I had read the Good Girl Guide books first (even though this is a standalone) because apparently there’s a character in this that was also in those. But I am definitely sold on her writing and can’t wait to read more!
This book had a slow start but I’d say from around 100 pages in or so, it took off! Definitely dark for young adult and quite a lot of cursing, which I don’t mind, but it did start to get a bit repetitive. The main character, though I can understand why she acts the way she does, is fairly unlikeable which made it difficult to get super involved in her development. And there was a small part of the final twist that I wish hadn’t existed.
ASIDE from these small things, I loved this book. Once it picked up, I found myself very invested in the story and I also found myself shocked with some of the twists. If you are a true crime lover or someone that loves playing detective, you’ll enjoy this one. I can’t wait to read more from this author!
Thank you to Netgalley and Random House Children’s for the advanced copy of this book in exchange for my honest review!

Let me start off by saying i lovee anything holly jackson writes!!
This story begins so uniquely a documentary about bels missing mother is being filmed, shes being interviewed and so many of her family and friends are too, its a pretty intense process she gets to a point where she has to reenact the day her mom went missing when she was only 2 years old,
She storms off on set because it was honestly all to much for her, so she walks almost all the way home till a woman appears in distress walking on the highway its her MOM a shock of a lifetime and instead her being excited about it and happy
Shes in denial and believes her mom was not kidnapped and was not in a basement for 15 years
Through out the story bel finds our more and more incriminating things about her mom and her family,
Which shocks her to her core, in all this her dad goes on a trip but bel doesn’t believe its a trip, but she doesn’t know what to believe from any family member and friend every one is guilty one way or another
In a wild turn of events more and more is u covered as you go through the motions what will you believe a man kept her in a basement or was it her stalked from when she was younger or was it closer to home
You must read to find out what happened to Rachel price for 16 year

Holly Jackson is completely and utterly nuts and this book only proves that point to its fullest ability. I say all that as the highest compliment I can give.
I struggle with thrillers, because I am so naturally suspicious that any reveal ends up falling flat for me. I also feel like characters are often put on the wayside to make room for the plot. I think Holly Jackson took that as a personal challenge, and set out to prove me wrong. Its like this book slapped me across the face. It is so, so human, so deeply emotional when it comes to its characters, but absolutely batshit nuts with its mystery. Like, I am in shock. I adored this so much.

Holly Jackson never disappoints! This was such an engaging and easy-to-read mystery book. There were so many good twists and turns!
Although I didn’t love the characters in this one as much as some of her previous works, I was still very much invested in the story. This book will have you trying to solve the mystery of Rachel’s disappearance (and reappearance) right along with Bel. I stayed up all night just to finish reading!
Thank you to NetGalley and Random House Children’s Publishing for the arc!

#NetGalleyARC Oh I love this author but this one was a slow start almost meh book for me. It did finally finally take the turn into "can't stop reading this" but it took a bit of time to get there. It's a classic mystery/thriller/who did it, Jackson's bread and butter. I think that because I loved the Good Girls... series so much I had a harder time with this one because I wanted it to be on Good Girls level but it wasn't. Don't get me wrong, in the end I really enjoyed this read and it was very entertaining, it just took me some time to get there. I will definitely be purchasing it for my HS library though.

Best book holly jackson has ever written I am so SERIOUS. This book was just.... incredible.. the mystery of it all had me at the edge of my seat 😭 I could have never predicted how the plot would unravel even as the author was dropping hints to the ending almost every chapter. the characters were written soso well too and the relationship between everyone was too GOODDDD.... just soso incredible and brilliant. Can't wait for everyone to read this, and thank you random house children's for the arc!!!!!!

Thank you NetGalley and Random House!
I would personally read Holly Jackson’s grocery list if she saw fit to publish it, so I am definitely her target audience. But this book is bound to be a hit with both the true crime and mystery/thriller book lovers out there. Trying to figure out the disappearance of Rachel Price in the past, while at the same time watching the events of Rachel Price’s reappearance unfold led to a fantastic twisty turny read!

Any book that can increase my reading speed solely off of adrenaline and the need to know (confirm) what is going on is an automatic “I must finish in one sitting” read. Holly Jackson gave me that in The Reappearance of Rachel Price.
Being “up front” as an avid thriller/mystery reader… yes, the plot was predictable at times but that did not slow me at all! It was still a fun fast paced read that I devoured in a 3 hour sitting!

Holly Jackson might be my new excuse for my trust issues.
Seriously, this book was crazy. My roommates heard me audibly gasp several times as Holly continually shocked me with her reveals. I went in with high expectations and she met them. I was drawn in from the first sentence and the book kept my attention until the last page.
I've read all her books, and this one felt the least like a thriller and more like a mystery. Yes, it was thrilling at times, but overall I think it carried more of a mystery element than the feelings of terror that usually accompany the thriller genre.
This book was good. Was it my favorite of hers? No (nothing can take the place of the GGGTM series), but it was a solid book. I had a good time.
Thank you Net Galley for a copy of the ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Thank you NetGalley and Random House Children's Books for the earc. This book follows Bel Price and her family as they cope with the disappearance of Bel's mother some 16 years ago. After 16 years, the family decides to participate in a documentary on the disappearance of Rachel Price, but soon after starting production, a wild discovery is made, causing dark family secrets and betrayals to be set in motion. Throughout this book, I was expecting to probably give it a four star, simply because Bel is Holly Jackson's most annoying character I have ever read thus far from her books. I highlighted a few sentences on my Kindle because I was kind of annoyed at Bel's "edgy, idgaf" attitude. She really thought she slayed with that attitude but in reality she was just a rude girl and said such unnecessarily cruel remarks. The whole "I have to push people away because they'll hurt me" attitude was a little cringy but near the end of the novel, I realized this book was going to be a five stars because it really picked up and got even better and more evil towards the end. There was also a moment where I genuinely jumped from a jump scare and experiencing that in a book is so rare so I think that says a lot about this author's talent in writing these thriller/mysteries. I have loved every single novel of hers so far and this one once again lived up to the hype. It had several twists and so many unexpectedly tense moments. There are a few things that felt a little too unrealistic to me but I can overlook it because this book was really good. I will definitely be buying her books as long as she comes out with them.

2.5 Like everyone else, I really enjoyed the AGGGTM series so I've kept picking up Holly Jackson's other books. Five Survive was just okay for me but I though the premise of The Reappearance of Rachel Price sounded really interesting. Unfortunately, this book just didn't work for me.
First of all, I found myself really not liking our protagonist. That can work in some books but I feel like in a young adult book, we should care about their well being and I just found her grating and self absorbed. She had been through a lot and I understood her defensiveness and pushing away of others to protect herself but it was just not enjoyable to be reading from her perspective.
I found the pacing to be really slow, it was quite hard for me to push myself through finishing the book to be honest. At about the 80% mark, almost all the action happens at once and the wrap up is not believable. Very info dumpy and just did not work for me at all. I also thought the "love interest" element should have been left out. It felt very forced and did not need to be included, it just gave us another reason to dislike Anna.....I mean Bel. *insert eye roll* (IYKYK)
I really wish I had liked this one more than I did. *Thank you to Net Galley for the ARC copy.*

I will read anything Holly Jackson writes at this point.
This book, there aren't words to describe just how suspenseful this entire story was. The amount of twists and turns that just kept coming and coming from the moment Rachel Price walked back down that highway. I couldn't put it down, I needed to know how all of it would come together in the end.
I know Bel was supposed to be an unlikeable main character, or at least appear that way, but there wasn't a second where I didn't like her. I understood the entirety of her train of thought, of where the trauma had its grip on her. A fear of allowing people in, of thinking that if she did, they'd all leave her as she believed her mother did, what's not to understand about her situation. The little side romance with Ash though, ugh it was adorable (just as adorable as his outfits).
All in all, this is how you do a mystery, take notes everyone. Thank you to Netgalley and Delacorte Press for this e-arc!

2/10/24: 4.25 ⭐ Thank you to Delacorte Press and Holly Jackson for the ARC!
Okay, wow. I jumped on the Holly Jackson bandwagon pretty late in the game (circa this summer), but quickly found the hype was super deserved. I devoured the entire Good Girl's Guide to Murder series in like a week and promptly had no idea what to do with myself. Luckily, I was able to get my hands on the ARC, and here we are! I only sacrificed a good night's sleep to read it.
The Reappearance of Rachel Price centers around eighteen-year-old Annabel "Bel" Price, whose mother vanished into thin air when she was little, never to be seen again. Fast forward to Bel's senior year, her family has agreed to film a documentary chronicling the cold case, a decision Bel decidedly resents. She plans to make pretty much everyone involved go through hell when she's around, but everything changes when Rachel shows up after sixteen years and threatens to destroy Bel's hard-won peace. What follows is a suspenseful, thrilling novel that was so addictive I literally could not stop reading until I'd finished the book. Did I hate myself in the morning for it? Not even. I was on a mission.
In true Holly Jackson Fashion, RRR is chock full of twists and turns that will leave you second-guessing any theory you manage to come up with. The pace was fast, the tone was sharp, and the cast was highly entertaining. It reminded me a bit of Knives Out with how the family functioned and interacted with one another, which made the story even more enjoyable. There is so much humor packed within these pages, and I think it often goes unnoticed because the mystery aspect is so outstanding, but Holly Jackson nailed the comedic moments every time. It was a pleasant surprise because GGGTM had a very different (re: darker) tone. That combined with the INSANE plot (genuinely how did she cook this up in there?? Holly Jackson you are so big brain) made this a wild ride that I highly recommend to anyone with a pulse and/or need to see the Grumpy x Sunshine trope play out in the middle of a documentary and cold case investigation. Seriously, Bel and Ash were ADORABLE.
Ultimately, this is a story about family—not the kind you are born into, but the kind you choose; the topics RRR covers are equal parts heavy, relatable, and captivating all at once. (Like I said, I literally could not stop reading.) Bel is such an interesting main character, and I love that, kind of like in GGGTM, she is a complex female character who doesn't strive for perfection, but rather leans into her flaws. It's easy to fall into the kind of cycle Bel does, and Holly Jackson portrayed her development and characterization so well. The reader's connection with Jackson's scathing, cynical protagonist drives the emotional core of the story and adds so much nuance to the backstory that is slowly shared with readers. Like, maybe it's because I too am a raging bitch most of the time but I just understand her, okay? She's just a girl!!!!
Overall, I give this almost 4.5 stars. The only reason I took so much off the rating was (I hate to say it) the trademark Holly Jackson ending, which is to say, highly entertaining and somewhat impossible to execute in real life. Hopefully, this gets as much hype as her other stuff because it deserves all of it and more! We need more murder girls!!!!!

Holly Jackson does not disappoint. I loved this book. A YA mystery that is fun and easy to read, but also still has so much thought and plot! I read Holly's AGGGTM series and was so stoked to read this one. Such a fun read with so many twists. Kept me soooo engaged the whole time. Thank you NetGalley and Random House Publishing for this ARC!
