This wasn't my favorite Holly Jackson read. I felt the ending was dragged out a bit much. Really, overall, I felt the story was not executed and maybe was rushed/thrown together to meet a deadline.
Holly Jackson writes the most addictive YA thrillers and I will die on that hill. THE REAPPEARANCE OF RACHEL PRICE was so interesting and had me hooked from start to finish!
*4.5 Stars!
Thank you to netgalley for providing me with an e-arc copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. I've already purchased my own copy and a copy for school! My students will love this!
Very addicting! Very quick read!
This book follows the story of Bel. Her mother, Rachel, disappeared sixteen years ago. Completely vanished. No body knows what happened to Rachel. Some people think she ran away, others think her husband killed her. Rachel vanished without a trace. Now 16 years later, a documentary is being made about Rachel Prices' disappearance, and towards the end of the filming, Rachel shows up 16 years later walking down the street towards her house, wearing the same clothes she disappeared in saying she doesn't remember who took her.
Here begins the unraveling story of what happened to Rachel Price. The best part of this experience, is you never know who to trust. The writing in this book is so fun!! The chapters end on small cliffhangers and keep the reader wanting to read even more! But dang, this whole thing is so messed up! It will keep you on your toes for sure.
I recommend this high school students who like mysteries, but hold on tight. It's a crazy ride!
As soon as you think you have the plot figured out, you realize you don’t! Shocking twists and turns kept me reading well past my bedtime. At times it was uncomfortable as the plot unfolded, but worth the read.
I do love the interview style of many of HoJas thrillers. I find it keeps me engaged in the plot and makes me feel like a detective trying to find the clues. I knew Bel was right to immediately be turned off by inconsistencies, but felt like her dad’s harsh reaction was a dead giveaway. Could have been half as long and still packed a punch with the reveal at the end.
I received an advance review copy for free via Netgalley and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
Holly Jackson does it again. Her stories are the right amount of mystery/dark for me. I couldn’t guess what was going to happen next and I couldn’t put it down (very easily at least). Thanks NetGalley and the publisher for an ARC!
Read an advance read copy and loved it! Cannot keep my copy on the shelf in my classroom! Holly Jackson’s books are always a hit!
I had never ready this author before and I did enjoy! I love a good mystery and YA books are just easier to get into sometimes! I really enjoyed the plot twists.
Thank you NetGalley and the publisher for ARC!

What a perfect book to binge read!!! I could not put it down the book. Love love the setting and YA mystery. Also what about the truth/ ending?? I loved “a good girl’s guide to murder” and this one was as good!!! I can’t wait to read the author’s next book!
Some of YA books makes me I feel old because I can’t relate well. But I didn’t feel that way with book, which is plus 🤣
This newest Holly Jackson offering is…a lot. I like the documentary plot device. I loved the banter between Ash and Bel. I enjoyed some of the plot twists. However, I was unable to suspend my disbelief, so the final solution felt ridiculous. A lot. Avid fans will enjoy. The casual reader may be more critical.
I have read several books by Holly Jackson and, while they are good mysteries, to a certain extent, they all begin to feel the same. This one was no different, so I could not finish it.
I loved this book! I could NOT figure out who the "bad guy" was the entire time I was definitely shocked at the ending. All the twists and layers to this story were so freaking good. This book kept me guessing. The first half was a little slow for me, but when it finally picked up, I read it so fast. I couldn't put it down.
It was so fun being back in a world written by Holly Jackson.
Starting off this story didnt quite have me hooked. Being inside a teenage girls brain isn't always the most fun but over time i grew to love and understand Bel. I wanted to be on her side and root for her throughout the whole story.
The way this story was told and unfolded while recording a documentary of their lives was intriguing. I truly didn't know what to expect with where the mystery aspect would go and found myself completely surprised. I loved the reveals that were brought to light and can see Holly Jackson has truly embraced her morally grey happy endings.
This was sooooo good! I was hooked in easily and holy moly the twists and turns came from nowhere!! Holly Jackson did it again!!!
When Belle was 2 her mom was kidnapped out of the car when she was with her mom in the car. Her mom just disappeared. There was a lot of speculation as to what happened to Belle's mom. Belle's family decides to do a documentary on the disappearance of her mom to help pay for her grandfathers treatment. while they're filming this documentary Belle's mom shows up...Rachel Price. This was so good and so entertaining. It was my second Holly Jackson book and it was so worth it. I gave it 5 stars.
good mystery and i loved the friends too. I really enjoyed the romance and how it solved . I also loved reading this author. Really enjoyed her friends. Great book.
This has been one of my biggest disappointments of the year, and it wasn't even THAT bad. But I loved the AGGGTM series, and was only so-so on Holly Jackson's other books, so I was really hoping for something I loved as much as Pip's story. However, Bel Price was way too unlikable of a character for me.
I understand finding it hard to trust others after everything she went through. However, Bel is INSUFFERABLE to everyone except her dad - including her cousin, Carter, who she supposedly likes a lot and sees as a sister. It also felt like there was far too much description in the book and like it could have been 100 pages shorter.
I can't say much except that while this was still an okay read, it just didn't do it for me like AGGGTM did. Maybe nothing will fill that void.
Absolutely love all the books I have read by Holly Jackson and this one did not disappoint! This one was full of suspense and kept me intrigued.
Holly Jackson is an auto-buy author for me & she does it again!!! Such a fun mystery & i love every minute of it, loved the story, characters and twist and turns!!! Cannot wait for more Holly Jackson
Holly Jackson does it again with this phenomenal standalone. This is one of the best YA mysteries that I have read, and I loved all of the characters, twists, and tones that were developed throughout the story.
Jackson does a fantastic job interweaving the emotions and true stakes into her books, making her characters feel realistic, and The Reappearance of Rachel Price is no different. We follow Bel as she is interviewed for a documentary series regarding her mother’s disappearance, but things quickly turn sinister when Rachel aptly appears from seemingly the dead.
I think the main thing that made this book so amazing was the family dynamics, and how Jackson was able to make the reader feel like you could trust everyone and no one at the same time. The storyline was engaging and the characters were interesting, making for the perfect family drama thriller. The only reason this one wasn’t 5 stars for me is because the beginning felt a little slow, but it understandably helped to engross the reader into the entirety of the Price family.
Thank you so much Netgalley and Delacorte Press for the opportunity to read this eARC!
