Well, I have found me a new regency author!! This was my first read by Megan, and now I want to go read her others so bad! This book was beautiful and the story captivated me from the beginning. The setting, the characters, the romance…it was all so good!

Enemies to lovers is one of my fav tropes and Megan wrote it to perfection! From the beginning, Graham and Anna’s bickering banter was full of tension and underlying passion. It was so much fun to read! They couldn’t help but be drawn to each other.

Graham needs Anna’s father’s help with an investment in Brighton and the only way he will invest is with Anna’s approval. So they are forced to spend a week together where she travels to his childhood home. Isn’t forced proximity the best?!

I loved how Graham and Anna grew through this story. They realized that they had completely misjudged each other. Anna fell in love with his family and he seen a whole new side to her. Anna was able to see Graham in his element with his family, being tender and loving and taking care of them the best he knew how.

I can’t begin to describe the sweet romance in this book! So many swoony scenes, and tender moments to satisfy every romantic’s heart! It definitely thrilled mine!

I can’t forget Tabs!! She has to be the most wonderful side character ever written! I love younger siblings and she took the cake! She was witty, brutally honest and so carefree! If she’s on the page, you’re guaranteed to smile and laugh!

This is regency romance at its finest! I loved every single thing and all I can say is go buy this book now! Everyone needs a little Graham and Anna in their life!

Highcliffe House is a delightful Regency romance that blends wit, charm, and a slow-burn romance. We follow Anna Lane, a young woman eager to escape the London gossip mill after an unfortunate romantic scandal. When her father enlists her to accompany his business partner, Graham Everett, on a crucial trip, Anna finds herself at odds with a man she initially deems insufferable.

Graham sees Anna as little more than a spoiled distraction, but his financial future depends on securing her father’s investment. As the two journey to Brighton, they engage in a battle of wits and willpower, each determined to prove the other wrong. However, the seaside setting, and forced proximity, gradually shift their perceptions, leading to a sweet romance.

I love a good enemies-to-love story and Anna and Graham definitely start out as adversaries. Their gradual transformation into partners—both in business and love—feels authentic, and one of my favorite things about this book. If you love a story where love grows through misunderstandings, banter, and unexpected companionship, this book is a must-read.

Megan Walker is always a home run in my book, and this story was no exception. I love the enemies to lovers trope and this was so well done. Mr. Lane was wise and thoughtful, and Anna and Graham were such a great couple once they realized it! I don't know that I've seen this trope done this well.

Megan Walker is one of my favorite Regency Romance authors. Her stories leap off the page, her romances are delightfully swoony, and her characters are both likable and relatable. Walker has firmly earned her place as an auto-buy author for me—I’ll eagerly read anything she publishes. One of the things I love most about her work is the clean, closed-door nature of her romances, with no language or spice, making her stories accessible and enjoyable for a wide audience.

I absolutely adored this story about Graham and Anna. I paired my reading with the audiobook, and the narrators did an exceptional job bringing the story to life. I highly recommend experiencing this tale in audiobook format.

While I’m usually not a fan of the enemies-to-lovers trope, this book was a rare exception. The trope was handled so skillfully that I found it far more enjoyable than others I’ve read. Watching Graham and Anna’s relationship unfold was a delight. The story was filled with cute, swoony moments that made my heart giddy, but it also balanced those with depth and emotional resonance. This thoughtful mix kept the romance from feeling superficial and added layers to their connection. I also loved that they behaved like mature adults in a thoughtful, well-developed relationship, demonstrating open and effective communication. Their witty and playful banter added an extra layer of charm and made their interactions even more enjoyable.

The side characters were another highlight, especially Graham’s mother and his two younger sisters. The family dynamics were heartwarming, and there were plenty of humorous moments, particularly with the youngest sister. The blending of the two families created a cozy, found-family element that I absolutely loved.

The setting was equally captivating, with its charming outdoor excursions and lively events. The variety of activities kept the story engaging and far from dull. This book is perfect for spring or summer reading, but even in the heart of winter, it brought warmth and cheer to my days.

Overall, this story is a gem, and I can’t recommend it enough to fans of Regency Romance or anyone looking for a heartwarming, clean love story with depth and charm.

Highly, highly recommend!!

This is one of my favorite reads of 2024! Anna and Graham's enemies to loves story was one of my favorites! The author did a wonderful job building the foundation for their animosity and then showing their journey of being forced to be vulnerable and real with each other, which made them be able to see each other through new perspectives. I loved Graham's family! His sisters and mom were so real and I loved their loyalty to Graham but also how they challenged him! Tabitha was a treasure! I thought this story had surprises as well in how it developed and I enjoyed that as well! Anna grew to be an admirable heroine and I loved how brave she was! Graham was such a caring character- the way he worked so hard to care for his family was so beautiful and valued honor and never taking the easy way made him such a strong hero as well! There were so many scenes that stayed with me- them on the beach, the library, fishing, and the end! I will love revisiting this one in the future! It's a truly wonderful story! I also listened to this one and the narrators were perfect!

Oh my Regency-loving heart! This book is so good!
I Anna and Graham are the best enemies-to-lovers ever. I just love the "Wait, are we hating each other?" vibes!
His whole family is so sweet, especially Tabs and her antics.
It was such a sweet story, and I just loved how they discover each other's true character. It was so cute seeing them together, not always bickering + Graham's protective side (*heart eyes*).
A forever favourite! Definitely will come back for a reread!

I thoroughly enjoyed "Highcliffe House" by Megan Walker! It is impossible not to get swept away to the Regency period, where you will want to stay forever in this wonderfully written, original enemies-to-lovers story.

With her picturesque prose, Walker transports you to Brighton Beach, England, in "Highcliffe House". The immersive language makes you feel like you are with the characters. We follow Anna, who needs to decide if her father should invest in land at Brighton, and Graham, her father's business partner.

I couldn't stop smiling at their spirited banter and the hilarious goat cheese scenes, but their endearing moments at the beach truly tugged at my heartstrings. Graham's family brought out his softer side, and his little sister, Tabitha, was the story's hero. I loved following their journey as they realized they were meant for each other.

I often have a problem with third-act breakups, but this one was handled exceptionally well and almost non-existent; the characters didn't break up; they just got pushed apart.

"Highcliffe House" is a romance that will keep you turning the pages. I found it impossible to put down, and I highly recommend this delightful read to all romance fans!

I love these Proper Romance books and this one was no exception. It was a great read with a lot of funny and charming moments that reminded me of some of my favourites in this genre like Edenbrooke. I really enjoyed the relationship building and description of Brighton and especially loved the ending.

Interesting characters. Delicious tension. Fun read. Highcliffe House is a lovely, clean historical romance. I found myself rooting for both Anna and Graham. I loved Graham’s family, especially Tabs! I love the Brighton setting. I would definitely recommend this book to library patrons!

Highcliffe House was like a stroll with an old friend. These fun, light hearted, and swoony regency books are what keep me smiling the whole time!!!

I love Megan’s character connections. Anna Lane just wants to reconnect with her dad but that gets tossed out the window fast when he decides to send her on ahead with her sworn enemy.

Graham Everett is just trying to keep his mom and sister financially secure .. his plans are derailed as well when he has to get the approval of his business partner’s daughter.

This enemy to love story was so wonderful! I loved seeing their walls come down and them not hold their prejudices.

I 100% recommend this beauty!

Thank you to netgalley and the author for sending me this ARC!

Highcliffe House by Megan Walker

I haven’t read a book by Megan Walker that wasn’t a five star. I seriously love them all and Highcliffe House was no exception.

Misunderstandings lead to years of torturing each other until Graham and Anna are forced to spend a week together at Graham’s family home. Tension begins to melt away as they see each other in a new light.

THIS STORY. My gosh it is so good. It feels so organic (the sign of a fantastic author) and all the pieces come together in a work of art.

The chemistry. THE CHEMISTRY. There were sparks flying everywhere. The romantic development is so believable and charming.

Would I recommend this? Abso-freaking-utely

Highcliffe House by Megan Walker is a good Regency Romance. I very much enjoyed my time with this story, and I really loved Graham and Anna. This story is an enemies-to-lovers story, and I have found that lately I really dislike these types of stories. It seems like the #1 goal of enemies-to-lovers characters is to hate each other for about 65-75% of the story, fight on almost every page, randomly change heart late into the story (where it almost feels unbelievable), and then get married. I get whiplash from these stories. BUT that is not what I got from Highcliffe House. Walker did an excellent job crafting a realistic enemies-to-lovers story, and it happens because of her believable and relatable characters. Graham is such a good man. He is dedicated, loyal, and so hard working. But he is also so kind. He would give the shirt off his back if he saw someone in need. Even though Anna drives him crazy, Graham pays attention to everything about her — her likes, dislikes, and everything she thinks she’s hiding from the world. The best part about Graham is he just lets Anna be herself. And Anna grows to see that Graham is not the man she originally believed him to be. It is when Anna gives up her old assumptions and judgements, and allows Graham to open up a bit, that she is able to be vulnerable for minute and grow into the woman she was always meant to be. It was so much fun getting to watch these two characters stop distrusting one another, become friends, and then naturally become more.

Highcliffe House is a great Regency Romance that I highly recommend. This is a well-written story with excellently crafted and endearing characters. If you’re in the mood for an engaging Regency Romance, you’ll definitely want to check this book out!

An enemies to lovers story that must not be missed! The banter and contempt between these two was so fun to read, but not as fun as watching them fall for each other despite (and sometimes because of) the traits they previously hated about the other. The seaside setting makes this a perfect story for summertime and I fell in love with the location and the people in it. A swoony story with a satisfying conclusion, I couldn't put it down!

I immensely enjoyed Highcliffe House by Megan Walker! She will sweep you away to the Regency period where you will forever want to stay in this beautifully written original enemies to lovers story.

With her picturesque prose, Walker takes her readers to Brighton beach, England in Highcliffe House. I could feel the sand between my toes, smell the salt water, and hear the waves of the ocean. In this heartfelt story we follow Walker’s amazing characters Anna, who needs to decide if her father should invest in land at Brighton, and Graham, her father’s business partner. I couldn’t stop smiling, and even laughed-out-loud at their feisty banter and the hated goat cheese scenes, but their endearing moments at the beach gripped at my heartstrings. Graham’s family brought out his softer side, and his little sister Tabitha stole my heart. I absolutely loved following their journey towards figuring out that they were meant for each other.

Highcliffe House is a page-turning romance which I could not stop reading. I highly recommend this delightful romance!

Thank you so much Shadow Mountain Publishing for granting my wish, and providing me an arc of this amazing story via NetGalley. I was not obligated to write a favorable review, and all opinions are my own.

This historical romance is set by the seaside and is perfect for a lazy summer afternoon when you can almost feel those salty sea breezes brush by you.

Anna Lane has been hurt by love and wants her father near her side, but he is busy considering an investment proposal from his young friend Graham Everett. Graham has annoyed Anna for years and she would rather her father have nothing to do with him. But instead of rejecting Graham’s investment proposal, Anna’s father sends her to Brighton in his place to see what she thinks of this possible investment—and he expects a thorough report from her. Anna sees her chance to possibly sever her father’s connection to Graham once and for all, but she doesn’t count on finally seeing the man Graham truly is. When matters come to a head regarding her father’s investment, could Anna be brave enough to risk her heart and take a chance on love?

This lovely regency romance has a sweet depth to it as the characters start out as rivals and slowly overcome their prejudices about the other to finally falling in love. The author’s style is true to the time period, and she has a way of bringing the characters to life so that they jump off the page. Readers will particularly enjoy the setting of the seaside town and several beach scenes, the detailed descriptions making it seem as if you are really there. Graham’s family, especially his little sister, steal every scene they are in, and give a glimpse into Graham’s history and why he acts the way he does. Anna’s reaction to them is so sweet and shows her own growth as a character. The clever banter, the slow-burn romance, and the incredible setting make this book a can’t miss on your summer reading list!

Brilliant. I could not put this book down! Each page had me enthralled and eager to find out more. The character development felt well-paced and not rushed. I was able to imagine the world of Brighton without ever having been there.
The chemistry between Graham and Anna felt natural and well-written, especially with the history they had together, it was believable. They were witty, clever, kind, understanding, and romantic. I absolutely loved their story.
I definitely recommend this regency romance to anyone who wants to be taken to the sea side and away from the city with Graham and Anna.

This was a wonderful story If you love an enemies to lovers romance, but in a different time period, this book is for you. I love the banter...it just makes the book better!

Anna just wants her father's attention, but being sent to Brighton with Graham changes everything for her. She grows up a lot in this book and I think Graham is a loveable character. There are so many things about family, misconceptions and misunderstandings in this story. Another great book to add to the proper romances.

4.5 Stars

I LOVE a good enemies-to-lovers novel, and this one certainly delivers in that aspect! Anna and Graham had me smiling and swooning and oh-no!'ing all throughout the book.

I absolutely adored the relationships between Graham's family and the main characters. The sisters each had their own distinctive personalities and his mother was a saint. 💛

I also loved that both characters visibly grew throughout the novel. They didn't just fall in love, but they genuinely grew up and matured through that love. It made my little reader heart so happy.

Overall, I would highly recommend this book for fans of the genre!

I received a complimentary copy of this novel from the publisher. All expressed opinions belong to me.
