Set in Brighton, England in 1813, Highcliffe House is a delightful, charming tale with an enemies to friends and more trope. Talented author Megan Walker has spun an enticing story with engaging, realistic characters that tickled my fancy. Anna Lane, who has been humiliated by a man who’d been courting her wants to flee London. Her father’s friend and business partner, Graham Everett, wants to invest in property in Brighton, so Mr. Lane sends Anna with Graham to Brighton to check on it. Anna has detested Graham since he takes her father’s attention away from time spent with her.
I felt Anna was quite spoiled and petulant at first, and Graham was a bit judgmental. I enjoyed seeing Anna and Graham’s relationship change as they got to really know each other.
Walker has penned some delicious stories and I would recommend her books to those who enjoy clean and wholesome historical fiction. 4.5 stars

Highcliffe House by Megan Walker is an amazing historical romance
Enemies to lovers is one of my favorites tropes ever when it’s done right. And when paired with forced proximity, I am all in.
Megan Walker weave together many different elements to create a wonderful story :
The writing style is great. The Dual POV enhances the storytelling. The plot is fast paced. A magical Brighton seaside as a backdrop. The MCs are perfectly imperfect in their rivalry. Their banter is witty and their chemistry off the charts. The secondary characters, especially Graham’s family, are a great addition to the story.
Anna feels that Graham had taken all of her father’s time and attention leaving little for her. And Graham feels that Anna despises him for his lower position in society. But as they are forced to spend time together, they are able to see very different sides of each other. I loved watching them reevaluate the judgements they'd made in the past and taking big risks to secure their happiness.
I wholeheartedly recommend this sweet funny historical romance.

Oh my goodness! This caught me like a hug and it was also my favorite trope, enemies to lovers. It was so good. Megan Walker wrote a beautifully romantic novel that captured my full attention. I think this is my favorite book this year. Yes, I thought it was that good! I loved Graham and his family and in the beginning wasn’t sure about Anna but she won me over. She was strong willed, passionate and honest. Andrea beautiful inside and out.
I read about honorable men and gestures, swoon worthy kisses and intense chemistry. This was full of heartfelt moments. But don’t take my word for it, you read it and let me know what you thought! Happy Reading❣️
What I loved!
• the waltz
• the boat fishing
• The kisses!
• Graham
• The banter and chemistry

What a stunning read !
Anna can’t stand the man who has occupied her fathers time this past year. Every-time she wants to see and speak with her father he is meeting with Graham. He is annoying, condescending, and rude .
Graham feels the exact same way about her… Anna is annoying , rude and condescending as well….
Little do they know that they’d be thrown together for a week at his home (with his mother and sisters) in Brighton . Little did they know that they had much in common , much to learn from each other .
And little did they know that they’d fall madly in love with each other .
I was captivated by this book. It kept my attention from the beginning and kept my interest the entire time.
Megan Walker is a talented author who knows how to write a beautiful clean, romance . Well done ! Five stars. I will add this one to my collection.
Thank you to Netgalley for the read in exchange for an honest review .

Thanks for NetGalley for an ARC of this book. There are not enough words to explain how much I loved this book. It was filled with history, and an enemies to lovers romance. The man in characters are fun and realistic. The plot is fast paced and filled with romance. It is so nice to read a romance that is not spicy. If you enjoy historical romance, then this book should be on your TBR.

This book is the perfect happy read! It made me dream of some quality time by the sea, and is perfect for a vacation or a mental reprieve from winter. I love Megan Walker’s books - she has an amazing ability to write deeply relatable and real characters that keep you reading and always wanting more. She is the best at some happy and fun main character banter that will have you smiling and laughing. I would recommend this to anyone looking for an uplifting and happy read!

This was a wonderful new book by Megan. Very entrancing and super faced paced. I loved it so much. The characters were very likable and the story was wonderful. We follow Graham and Anna as they both try to work through their different trials in life, and it was great to see them come together and how they learned to get through their trials.

I found this dual point of view a delightful read in spite of it being an enemies-to-lovers trope which is not my favorite. I prefer my heroes and heroines to be kind throughout and not throwing out sarcastic barbs, etc. However, this one was tastefully done, although the change in attitude between them was a bit swift in my opinion. When Anna and Graham are thrown together to make a decision about an investment, neither one is happy about the situation and Anna’s resentment is so great she has already made up her mind to do her best to sabotage it. Graham has a week to change her opinion and help her fall in love with Brighton. In the process, they fall in love with each other, but they still must solve Graham’s financial dilemma before they can have their HEA. Anna’s resolution showed her determination and allowed them their happiness without emasculating Graham. Megan Walker books are a relaxing walk in a quiet, secluded seaside. In England. During the Regency period.
Highcliffe House is the third Megan Walker book I have completed, and like her previous books, we escape to Regency England with a cast of endearing characters. This time, the setting is the Brighton seaside.
Anna and Graham loathe each other, but are forced to spend a week together in Brighton to further a business arrangement. Through twists and turns, and a squirming eel (no, that's not a typo), the two discover they are better as a friends than as enemies. In fact, they fancy each other quite a lot. But, their growing attachment is tested against the hard realities of financial struggles and family responsibilities.
You might enjoy this book if you are looking for:
- Dual POV historical romance
- Clean romance
- A comforting read with an HEA
...but my favorite part about Megan Walker books you might enjoy too is:
- Unique forced-proximity scenes. I love the unique scenes in which the FMC and MMC interact alone without other distracting characters. Too many regency books tend to have the same scenes: ballroom, calling on a lady in her drawing room, going horseback riding, etc, but not this book!
Minor trigger warning: Loss of parent and previous abandonment are part of the plot background, but do not occur in the "present day" plot.
I read about 100 books a year, and rarely consider re-reading any of them. However, I own Megan Walker's books so I can re-read them anytime I want a comforting escape. The pages fly by and I only wish the books were longer. Highly recommend!
Thank you Shadow Mountain Publishing and NetGalley for the complementary copy of this book. My review is my honest opinion, and I was not influenced by the author or publisher in any way to provide a positive review.

Highcliff House is amazing. Megan Walker does a wonderful job of hooking the reader right off. The tension between the two main characters is delightful. It’s so delightful because when the tension turns to love it’s beautiful and so delicious.

This historical romance is absolute perfection! I was completely hooked from the beginning and I could not put this book down!!
The characters were soo well written, I loved their banter, the true enemies-to-lovers, and their growth! And the slow-burn romance was so well executed!!
The setting was beautiful and I truly felt like I was there with the characters!
I am still hung up on this book since finishing it last night. ITS JUST SO GOOD!

You know that fizzy, excited feeling you get when you pick up a book you just know is going to be amazing? I've felt that since the moment this book was announced, and after absolutely devouring it, I have never been happier to be correct in my feelings!
This book was so good! Fantastic rivals-to-lovers, delicious banter, a dreamy seaside setting, endearing and hilarious side characters, compelling family dynamics, and a romance that had me swooning and giggling with delight made this an absolutely enthralling story from start to finish!
Anna is a headstrong lady recovering from a social disaster and Graham is a businessman doing his best to support his family. I loved that a change of scenery and unusual circumstances allowed them to get to know each other in a different light and see that there might be more between them than annoyance and animosity. Their chemistry was fantastic and I loved watching them reevaluate the judgements they'd made in the past and taking big risks to secure their happiness.
Graham's family plays a big role in the story and I adored them. Specifically, the little spitfire that is Tabatha was freaking adorable and reminded me a lot of my own sisters. I thought they added such a lovely layer to the story, and the fact that it was set in Brighton was so unique and fun.
This is Megan's third Regency romance and proves once more that she is a powerhouse in this genre. Her writing is stunning and she does a masterful job of weaving together many different elements into a single story that feels whole and satisfying. If you're looking for a swoony romance about throwing off the opinions of others and seizing happiness no matter the risk, please pick up Highcliffe House!
Thanks so much to the publisher for an advanced copy!

If you love the regency era, enemies to lovers, and witty banter then this book is for you! I’ve been excited and anticipating this read. It did not disappoint and I absolutely adored this story.
Graham and Anna do not get along. Anna feels that Graham had taken all of her father’s time and attention leaving little for her. And Graham feels that Anna despises him for his lower position in society. When they are forced to spend a week together at Graham’s home they quickly discover that they both have misunderstood each other, and in order to create the futures they both want they need each other.
I think one of my favorite things about this book besides all the witty dialogue was Graham’s family. Graham’s sisters are relatable and delightful. It felt like I was the one in their home interacting with his family. Overall I would highly recommend this book. You will not regret picking it up.
Thanks to NetGalley and Shadow Mountain Publishing for an ARC in exchange for my honest review.

Highcliffe House by Megan Walker is a wonderful historical fiction and romance that I truly enjoyed.
I have really loved two of Ms. Walker’s previous books, so I really wanted to read this one. Anna amd Graham are excellent main characters. I really enjoyed their “enemies” to friends to lovers journey. Both have way more in common than they think. Both are misunderstood, both have risen above their adversities, have been hurt, are looking for understanding, acceptance, and love. Both end up finding it along this story.
Beautifully written, well-crafted characters, and whip-smart dialogue that made my heart smile as well as laugh out loud.
Excellent book.

When enemies suddenly aren’t.
This is a wonderful story of learning to see people instead of the labels we have put on them. Anna Lane was well acquainted with Graham Everett, her father’s business partner. He was arrogant, proud, and took her father away from her as they explored business ventures. And she hated him for it. Graham new Anna. She was spoiled, rude, and even insulting. He tried to stay away from her wanting nothing to do with her. So, what happens when Anna’s father decides to send the two of them together to assess the viability of a business venture Graham wants to pursue and Anna wants to sabotage? What happens when the pretenses drop and their true natures are revealed to each other, the hidden parts of their lives laid open? A wonderful read about seeing below the façade we all wear. Thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for the copy. This is my review and all thoughts are my own.

Author Megan Walker just keeps writing the most beautiful historical fiction! From the dreamy cover to the utterly captivating story inside, you will dive into an absolutely romantic dessert. Simply breathtaking!!

Another great book by Megan Walker! Enemies to lovers is one of my favorite tropes, and this one was done so well. The banter between Graham and Anna was so fun, and I really enjoyed how they came to realize their misconceptions about each other. One of my favorite parts of the book was definitely the little sister, Tabitha. She was so sweet and added a lot of humor to the book.

I loved this book and could turn around and read it again. Anna Lane dislikes everything about Graham Everett,. It seems like Mr. Everett is constantly trying to get Anna's father, to invest in one scheme or another. When an investment proposal, takes Anna to Highcliffe House and the town of Brighton to stay with Graham Everett's family Anna is determined to hate it Anna doesn't expect to find a friend in Graham Everett's mother and sisters. To find a different side of herself. This book was well written and I loved it so much.

HIGHCLIFFE HOUSE by MEGAN WALKER is a most enjoyable read and one I cannot recommend highly enough. It is beautifully written, with lovable characters, full of witty remarks and sarcasm, love and hate, and romance.
The story takes place in England during the Regency period, with Anna Lane and Graham Everett, seemingly arch enemies, being sent to Brighton by Mr Lane where Anna ia to investigate an investment that Graham has suggested to her father- Anna is jealous of the good relationship between Graham and her father, especially now that Mr Lennox has made a fool of her and she needs her father on her side against the cruelty of the “ton”. She is determined to hate Brighton and highjack the investment. She is also tired of people, especially men, seeking her out because of her father’s wealth and position and wants to be loved for herself…..
It is while spending time at Highcliffe House with Graham and his delightful family that things start to change…..
That is all I am going to tell you for fear of spoiling things for you.
I was given a free copy of the book by NetGalley from Shadow Mountain Publishing. The opinions in this review are completely my own.

By far one of my favorite Megan Walker stories, and it is close. I throughly loved this tale and was completely invested in her characters and their outcome. Although, going into most romance stories, you "know" how the story will end with them together, I spent the entire book waiting anxiously and rooting on their endeavors. I loved seeing the enemies to friends to lovers story plot. Every time the characters mentioned how they "hated" the other, I couldn't help but think, "just you wait!" Even though I "knew" the outcome, I was throughly involved in their romance. I highly recommend this story!
