LOVED THIS!
All my fav authors in one bundle! Sign me up! My favorite was the CLo one. Can't wait to review them all! full review to come!
Whoever's idea this was to grab 6 authors to write a story and showcase their writing and their brain/ brava. This is now how I'd like to always find new authors. And it was cute and interconnected and all about valentines. Do there we go!
Featuring six short stories from well known, and well loved, romance authors, The Improbably Meet Cute Collection presents six different Valentine's Day meet cutes, guaranteed to make you swoon.
Featuring stories with accidental emails, missed connections, missed signals and embarrassing mishaps this was the perfect collection to wind down with each night. My favorite? Rosie and the Dreamboat -- it had me gasping, cringing and swooning all within 60 pages and I loved every second of it.
While the compilation of authors was diverse, including writers of the BIPOC communities as well as authors who identify within the LGBTQ+ community, I would loved to see a few more stories that highlighted the spectrum of sexuality. Overall, a super enjoyable and fun collection that I will absolutely be revisiting in the future and recommending to others!
I was so excited to see this set of short stories because I have been a fan of Christina Lauren, Sally Thorne, and Abby Jimenez for several years. This set gave me stories from each of them along with the opportunity to find similar authors. I enjoyed each story in this collection and just wish they were full length novels.
A sweet collection of short stories. I enjoyed reading these. All were easy and quick reads. Some I enjoyed more than others. All were quite predictable since they were all “meet-cute” stories but it was fun to read them and perfect timing right before Valentine’s Day,
Some I loved 4-star worth, others were 4 star for me. Relatable, funny, cute, meet-cutes, Pick them up and love them yourself.
This set of books was absolutely wonderful! Six fun & romantic new short stories that make you laugh & cry, while introducing you to new authors you may never have heard of before. I particularly loved the stories by Abby Jimenez & Christina Lauren, but all were fun and I'm looking forward to reading more books by all six of the authors.
I definitely loved this collection of short meet cutes. Each one was different and super cute. I had my favorites. The author's include:
- Christina Lauren
- Abby Jimenez
- Jasmine Guillory
- Sally Thorne
- Ashley Poston
- Sariah Wilson
This a definite must read for this valentine season. I loved it and I hope they continue the collection idea.
The prompt: get six of the biggest names in Romance to turn an improbable meet-cute into a romantic happily ever after in 60 pages or less.
Congratulations to whoever came up with this idea and convinced these authors to participate because this was a wildly successful project! I suspect writing a short story can be more challenging than a novel and these authors mostly pulled it off. I loved that each story was unique but tied together in some little way.
My personal favorite of the series is The Exception to the Rule. What Christina Lauren did here was pure magic. I was smiling, squealing, and kicking my feet in delight for the whole read! C & T forever!
The Exception to the Rule - 5 ⭐️ - two teenagers “meet” after a typo in an email address and continue to exchange emails for 10 years.
Worst Wingman Ever - 5 ⭐️ - a mistaken Valentines delivery leads two people to exchange notes during a trying time.
Rosie and the Dreamboat - 5 ⭐️ - Rosie meets a firefighter after an incident at a day spa.
Drop, Cover, and Hold On - 4 ⭐️ - it takes an earthquake for a bakery owner and customer to finally see eye to eye
With Any Luck - 3 ⭐️ - The best man and maid of honor must retrace their steps to find the missing groom.
Royal Valentine - 3 ⭐️ - A princess switches places with her assistant for a weekend in Rome only to meet a handsome Scottish man.
Ranking the actual meet-cutes not the stories themselves:
1. The Exception to the Rule
2. Rosie and the Dreamboat
3. Worst Wingman Ever
4. Drop, Cover, and Hold On
5. Royal Valentine
6. With Any Luck

Freaking PERFECTION. 10/10. This was just so so good. I couldn’t get enough of it and wanted a thousand more pages of this.
A short story collection from six of the best romance authors... yes, please! This was such a joyful and amazing read. All of the stories had great characters in unpredictable situations. Each of the writers put their own unique spin on the idea of a meet cute. My favorite story of the bunch was The Exception to the Rule by Christina Lauren, but they were all wonderful. If you're looking for books that make you smile with happiness, check these out individually on Amazon!
This was a fantastic collection of short stories from some favourite, big name romance authors with an enticing common concept. Reading how six romance authors created such unique stories from the same writing prompt of an improbable meet-cute was fascinating.
Without question, The Exception to the Rule by Christina Lauren felt like the most well rounded story. Given the story spanned over a decade through emails, we were able to gain a lot of context for both character and relationship development. This lead to a very well rounded story that had me swooning by the end.
Given the length of these stories, most already had well developed characters with the exception of Royal Valentine. Princess Ilaria felt underdeveloped. She came across as whiney, horny and desperate - wanting to fall in love with the first man she laid eyes on. Also, these are supposed to be Valentine's themed meet-cute stories, and yet Royal Valentine delivered on the meet cute, but within 71 pages also delivered a "third act break up". That didn't feel congruent with the themes of Valentine's days and the hope and possibility of a meet cute.
Worst Wingman Ever by Abby Jimenez was a close second. Jimenez's ability to make me laugh while reading about illness/death/dying is unparalleled. She can always get me in my feels.
My overall rating for the series is 4 stars. My individual ratings are as follows:
The Exception to the Rule - 5 stars
Worst Wingman Ever - 4.5 stars
Rosie and the Dreamboat - 4 stars
Drop, Cover and Hold On - 3 stars
With Any Luck - 4.5 stars
Royal Valentine - 2 stars
This was so fun & I cannot recommend enough! The highlight for me was the Abby Jimenez novella. I also have to add that I love that they put out the audio the day of publication, then in my mind there is no reason not to pick this up.
This collection of Valentine’s Day novellas is the perfect escape between larger books. Mostly heartwarming and fun, you can easily read only one or all of them as your time allows. I particularly enjoyed the more humorous plots as I want love to be quirky. There was only one of the six that I did not connect with.
Thank you NetGalley, Amazon Original Stories, and the authors for the ARC in exchange for my honest review!
I absolutely love a good meet-cute, and a whole collection of them by some of my favorite authors? Perfection! I loved these little doses of sweet romance and think anyone who loves to read romance novels of any kind will appreciate these little stories of love.
I have to say that this group of stories is perfect for Valentine's Day, they are short enough that you have a great read but can get a story done in one sitting.
I have to say that these six books are a mix of 3.5 -4's star ratings. I personally enjoyed the Worst Wingman Ever and the mix up between them that keeps happening. I related to that one with the hospice parts and that hurt my heart reminding me of my own personal lost. I also enjoyed Royal Valentine, because I am sucker for Royal fun stories.
Very cute stories for the Valentine’s Day. Gets you in the mood for the season, but overall, stories were good but not wow! Maybe that’s just thing with short stories.
This is a sweet short story collection about improbably first encounters becoming HEAs! The stories are written by some of the most popular rom-com authors who are known to produce remarkable stories. Each story has the author's fingerprint with storytelling and were told in a cohesive way. You will have to pay attention to how the stories connect but they do connect. A great way to celebrate love and Valentine's Day early. Thank you to NetGalley for sending me an electronic ARC in exchange for an honest review.
