What book lover doesn’t love a beautiful story about books and libraries? This story includes two of my faves- books and a small town setting. It is a heartwarming story of second chances that reminded me of a Hallmark movie!
The characters are charming and felt very realistic- they are dealing with tough real life issues such as loss, disease, disability, aging and parenting woes.
I love the “later in life” aspect to the romance too!
The Finders Keepers Library was an easy feel-good sort of read. If you are looking for a book that might be a tad predictable, but leaves you feeling cozy- this book is for you.
And the cover is gorgeous so it had to be on my shelf!
This was a great book. I love sweet romances and this fit the bill. Savannah has reccently lost everything, her health, her fiance, and her job. With no actual plans or place to go, Savannah heads to Bloom, North Carolina to visit her Aunt Eleanor. Savannah doesn't tell anyone about her recent losses. As soon as she arrives in Bloom, she notices her Aunt has changed. She isn't as outgoing as she used to be. Then a storm hits and destory's Eleanor's lending library and garden. Since Savannah is a botonist, she decides to help restore the garden and the library. The town all chips in to help as does Eleanor's neighbor Evan. Evan has his own challenges, a tween daughter who is dealing with the death of her mother and a former monther-in-law who wants his daughter.
The characters are great and it is heart-warming how everyone pulls together to hep each other. The romance is sweet and the writing style is easy-to-read.
I thought this was such a sweet and heartwarming book! I felt like this book would make the perfect hallmark movie. This is a second chance romance book set in a small town, with great characters, and clean romance. I am a big fan of Annie Rains books, I find they’re always so sweet, and just easy reads. If you’re looking for a book with clean romance, I recommend checking this one out!
I love all the quotes at the beginning of each chapter. As for the Novel, it’s an inspiring Novel, that teaches you to never give up on love because of fear…. Definitely a recommend summer read…. If you haven’t read it….. DO !!!! you will not regret it.
The Finders Keepers Library is a second chance at love story and the first in a new series by Annie Rains. Savannah Collins is returning to Bloom, NC to spend the summer with her aunt Eleanor since she presently has no job and running low on funds. A summer storm does damage to the rose garden and the library in Eleanor’s backyard, which is to host a wedding in 3 weeks. It is going to take many hands to get it back into shape and friends reunite to help. Evan Sanders, the next-door neighbor, steps up to help and it also gives him a chance to reacquaint himself with Savannah again. They spent many summers together reading books Eleanor recommended when they were children. Now he’s falling all over again for the girl he use to crush on. What a good story that had me wanting more and for it not to end.
All the characters were dealing with some real-life issue; an illness, grief of a loved one, single-parenting, fear of falling. Savannah was recently diagnosed with Lupus and had to learn how to deal with this disease, and let people in to help her. Her fiancé broke up with her because of it and that shook her that others might do the same. Evan and his young daughter June are learning how to live with one another full-time since his ex and her mother recently passed away. Growing pains of pushing limits test these two and the threat of a grandmother keep these two on their toes wondering what is really good for June. Eleanor/Ellie’s story was most intriguing to me because she has a second chance at love herself but her fear of falling and leaving the comfort of house is too much. Thank goodness she seeks help, and a dear friend to help her take steps to conquer her fear. The Finders Keepers Library is a sweet romance for both a young and an older couple. The book quotes at the beginning of each chapter was inspiring to the story as well and I loved how Eleanor gives advice with them throughout the story. Definitely words to live by.
The characters grew and saw that with a little faith and hope, they can start new beginnings with someone they dearly love. I look forward to returning to Bloom and see if love can happen again.
A sweet, clean story about finding love, finding your purpose, and the power of friends and family.
Told from 3 POVs; Savannah, Evan, and Eleanor all three have had to deal with some pretty heavy life changes and they each find their way as they work to put Eleanor's garden and her Finder's Keepers Library back together for a special wedding after a storm causes some major damage.
I loved that each chapter started with a quote either from a book or about books. One of my favorites was: "Because for some of us, books are as important as almost anything else on earth" from Anne Lamott, an American novelist.
I also love something that the main character, Savannah says, "I actually think that a person has to be happy in order to find love. Not the other way around." This sentiment, of realizing that you need to be happy in order to find love and make it work, instead of someone looking for someone to 'make them happy' is great to see in a book.
This story is heartfelt and deals with real issues in realistic ways in a beautiful setting with great characters. A great read for any age!
This author is an auto buy for me from now on! This is my second book by this author and I’m totally smitten with her writing. It’s a heartwarming, sweet love story. Not just between people but a love story of books and community. I hope there is more books to come with these characters.
I loved this book! It's a beautifully written story that hooks you on the first page and doesn't let go. It's the perfect book to curl up with and forget about the world for a little while.
I received a complimentary copy from Forever (Grand Central Publishing) via NetGalley and was not required to write a review. All opinions expressed are my own.
Annie Rains never fails to engage my emotions with her heart-tugging, small-town, closed-door romances. This one is about starting over, confronting our fears, grief, healing, and hope for the future. Once again, I was pulled into her story, into the lives of her characters, and they into my heart.
I would love to spend the summer hanging out in Bloom. I want Savannah to teach me all she knows about plants (maybe I'll be able to keep one alive). I want Eleanor to hand pick books for me to read (I'm confident she would pick just the right one). I want to talk books with Evan's daughter in the Finders Keepers Library and cheer her on as she finds her place in Bloom. I want to watch the relationships of Evan and Savannah, Charlie and Eleanor, and Madison and Sam flourish amidst the challenges of everyday life. I want Mallory to find her happy ever after. And, I want to talk to the roses. I may not be able to grow them but I'm confident I'd have no problem divulging my deepest held secrets...and feel better for it.
Rains made the town of Bloom, and her citizens, come to life for me. I loved how she intertwined several relationship threads together, giving multiple characters journeys without sacrificing the importance of any one person or relationship. There are themes of starting over, second chances, compromise, acceptance, healing, and love. Romantic love, family love, and love among friends. It's a story that made me laugh, made me sigh, brought forth a few tears, and, ultimately, left me with a happy, hopeful heart. How could I ask for more?
4.5 stars

I love books about books! Maybe because I love to read, but those have always been my favorite kinds of stories. The book's cover was another thing that drew me into The Finder Keepers Library. How is it possible for a reader to look at the cover without being drawn in? It's among the most gorgeous book covers I've ever seen. I knew I had to check it out as soon as I saw the author's name. I adored the books Annie Rains’ Hero's Welcome that I read years ago. I remembered why while reading The Finders Keepers Library ; this author has a talent for drawing you into the story and making it hard to put down. I can't stop thinking about the characters and imagining what will happen to them next.
Savannah was my favorite character in the book out of all of them. It was hard not to love her. I can’t imagine having to go through such a life-changing event. Although Savannah may not believe it, she was strong in a lot of different ways. Though she didn't know June well, I admired how much she loved June and how much she cared for her Aunt Eleanor. Savannah is just what June needed. However, my relationship with June was one of hate and love. I felt that I understood why she acted the way that she did, even though I didn't like how she treated her dad despite seeing how hard he was trying. All I could hope for was that she would grow to love Bloom and remain with her dad.
Evan. How could you not love him? I loved how he looked out for Eleanor and Savannah and did everything in his power to give her daughter a sense of belonging. There was a connection between them that was evident as soon as Savannah arrived from Bloom; all I could hope for was that Savannah would come to realize that as well. I experienced a wide range of emotions when reading The Finders Keepers Library, and I found myself recommending it to my friends.
I thought the book started slowly, and at first, I had a hard time empathizing with June and Eleanor. However, that was only a few chapters long, after which I became engrossed in the story. Any fans of romance should check this out, an unforgettable story.
In The Finders Keepers Library, Savannah finds herself returning to the place she spent her childhood summers. Bloom has a lot of history for Savannah: loving memories with her aunt, uncle and friends, and it’s the place she goes to heal from heartbreak and job loss.
With her return, Savannah’s Aunt Eleanor brings her immediately back into the fold. But neighbor Evan, one of Savannah’s summer friends from all of her childhood visits, gives her the cold shoulder. After clearing up an initial misunderstanding, their friendship once again begins to flourish, and just like that last summer, attraction begins to simmer. I really enjoyed these characters so much. After being diagnosed with an auto-immune disease and being dumped by her fiance before this book even begins, Savannah’s reservations to embark on a new romantic relationship really ring true. For Evan, a single dad raising his daughter after her mother’s passing, his hands are full with that alone. But throw in a meddling mother-in-law who thinks she can do it better, and his doubts about being a good father are thrown into a tailspin.
Something I really like about Annie Rains books is how the characters handle each other with care. There’s just something about their inherent kindness to everyone around them that I love; it makes them so endearing. The secondary characters were so well rounded and fun. I loved reading about Aunt Eleanor’s second chance at love with Charlie, and I was always waiting for that bookish quote she had to fit every occasion. And the fact that she had summer reading lists for everyone including the adults - sigh me up! June, Evan’s daughter, proved to be quite the handful, but with her recent loss and grandmother egging her on, it made her character feel fleshed out. I am also very curious about Hollis and Mallory’s past, and I am fervently hoping they have an upcoming book in this series!
Bloom may have started out as just a stop on the way to where she’s going, but Savannah soon becomes so entrenched in the town and its people, the decision to move on isn’t as easy as it once was. The slow burn between her and Evan was so well done, and I loved the way their years of friendship pulled them back to where they always were. There were so many layers to The Finders Keepers Library. You weren’t just reading about a couple getting together; you were reading about a community, how they fit together, and how they relied on each other. I can’t wait for the next book in this series!
Thank you to Net Galley for the ARC.
“If you ask me, a cup of tea and a good book is the best kind of medicine.”
I love books about books! I finished Through the Snow Globe around the holidays, and really enjoyed.
The main characters are both dealing with medical issues. What I liked is that the book remains upbeat and characters are likable.
I enjoyed the quotes at the beginning of each chapter and the Books & Blooms meeting!
Thanks again!
I received an ARC of this book from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
I have read, and enjoyed, a lot of Annie Rains books. But this was my favorite of all of them. I really enjoyed it!
This was a sweet story, and I do love a book with both books and gardens! Maybe it was just me, but I just could not connect to the characters in this story.
After a breakup with her fiancé, a shallow man who dumped her because he couldn’t handle life with a wife with Lupus, Savannah leaves the city to go to her happy place, the little town of Bloom, North Carolina. She spent many happy summers there at her favorite aunt’s house.
Savannah’s Aunt Eleanor is unable to leave her home because of fear. She had a bad fall and fractured her pelvis. She lives in fear of it happening again, so she refuses to leave her home. She is a former librarian who has a quaint little library in her garden where the residents of Bloom can come to borrow a book or leave a book.
Evan is a single dad who lives next door to Eleanor with his 12 year old daughter, June, who is grieving the loss of her mother. He wants to be there for his daughter, but he doesn’t really know how to help her through the grief process. He is learning as he goes.
Savannah and Evan were friends as children, but drifted apart when Savannah went to college. They both went their separate ways. Being reunited as adults is awkward, but when a storm destroys Eleanor’s garden three weeks before it is to be the venue for a wedding, they work together to repair the damage and return the garden to it’s former state of beauty in time for the wedding. As they work closely together, there friendship starts to become something more.
Annie Rains writes women’s fiction that touches the hearts of readers. I recommend The Finders Keepers Library to anyone who enjoys wholesome stories with relatable characters and a happy ending.
Wow, once again Annie nails it out of the park with this one! It’s by far my new favorite from her! Those that love to read will love the premise of this book!
The Finders Keepers Library by Annie Rains feels like the novel that I've been wanting for a while. Ms. Rains has a way with character building, world building and story telling.
This story follows Savannah Collins in her quaint North Carolina town. To Savannah, the loss of her job hurt, but she also lost the library which meant so much to her, to disrepair. An unexpected storm destroyed the library and left damage in its wake. It seems as though nothing in Savannahs life is going well.
Evan Sanders, came into Savannahs world in an unexpected way. And the connection they have is reminiscent of Savannahs needs in many ways- full of love, support and kindness.
Another sweet, romantic, novel by Annie Rains that does not disappoint! A must read!
Thank you to Netgalley for allowing me an ARC copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
I enjoyed this book a lot. It was a light, fun, sad, happy read that, I think my soul needed. It reminded me what it's like to dive into a book and in doing so, reminded me to make time to read for myself. It was an all around great and innocent love story (one I wouldn't mind a daughter reading one day is my definition of innocent right now lol). It showed you can love more than once in a lifetime if someone leaves you this side of earth....and that you can love again even after someone you THOUGHT you'd love forever had stipulations for that love. I would recommend it as an easy, loving read to anyone who loves a good love story.
Annie Rains’ “The Finders Keepers Library” felt like a warm embrace on a chilly evening. As I turned each page, I was drawn into the heart of Bloom, North Carolina, where Savannah Collins’ story unfolded with a gentle grace.
Losing her job was a blow, but losing her heart to a library in disrepair? That was unexpected. The storm-damaged books became symbols of Savannah’s own trials, and as she nurtured them back to life, I felt my spirits lift alongside hers.
Evan Sanders, with his quiet strength, reminded me of the power of second chances. Their growing connection, amidst the backdrop of Aunt Eleanor’s lush garden, was as comforting as the familiar scent of old books.
This book is a reminder that home isn’t just a place, but a feeling—one of belonging, of being understood, and of finding peace in the pages of our lives.
Firstly, this cover is so beautiful and cheerful!
Annie Rains writing so simply stunning. It is full of so much heart, and her storytelling jumps right off of the page from the first page to the last.
This romance is truly so sweet and heartfelt!
The Finders Keepers Library is such a heartwarming, magical, and beautiful garden full of hope, love, and stories, and has a special way of bringing people together. I was truly pulled into this book from the first page to the last, and watching the journeys of Savannah, Evan, Aunt Eleanor, Charlie, June was so moving. And adorable little kitty!
This novel explores many important aspects of life, and has many powerful and poignant themes throughout as well.
This book truly is a book for book and literature lovers my gosh!
If you enjoy Contemporary Romance, I highly recommend this book! I so look forward to reading what Annie Rains writes next!
Thank you so much to NetGalley and Forever (Grand Central Publishing) for the ARC of this novel, it is incredible! All opinions expressed in this review are my own.
