The Finders Keepers Library is a delightful story, especially for book lovers. Savannah goes back to the place she spent her summers with her lovely Aunt Eleanor and gets reacquainted with her teen crush, Evan. They aren't the only possible love story. There's June, Evan's daughter, who needs a different kind of love. As they all prepare for their friend, Madison's, wedding to Sam, Savannah deals with a new illness, the loss of a job, and an uncertain future. One of the main characters in the story is Aunt Eleanor's garden with her community lending library. I wish I had one. This is a clean read filled with hope. If you're a book lover, or simply love a good story, pick up a copy of Annie Rains book. I received a free copy and opinions are my own.
I’m, as always, a sucker for a second chance story in a small town. Add in an older relative that everyone loves and a shared passion for books and I’m pretty much sold.
This was a nice quick read to change pace for me and I enjoyed the authors writing style.
Thank you to NetGalley and Forever (Hachette Book Group) for the advanced copy!
What an amazing story. Aside from the many feelings of new beginnings and love and trust my favorite was the book quotes at the start of each chapter. I will definitely recommend this book to my fellow readers!
Fans of Annie Rains will be delighted at this new offering. “The Finders Keepers Library” is sweet and charming, as we would expect. I especially enjoyed how the story explores the healing power of literature and gardening. Set in the picturesque town of Bloom, North Carolina, the story follows Savannah Collins and Evan, her former crush. Aunt Eleanor was probably my favorite character.
Rains does a small town setting so well, and the community of Bloom is super cute with some entertaining characters. The plot of this novel will not shock anyone, but that's not what readers in this genre want. They want the comfort of a sweet, happy ending where things work out.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for an advance e-galley; all opinions in this review are 100% my own.
The Finders Keepers Library is an enjoyable novel in a southern setting. I loved the small-town feel and how the author added quotes from books to the beginning of each chapter Family and friendship, books and flowers abound, but life isn't always a bed of roses. Life sometimes places hard decisions in our way. If you love books and flowers, this book is not to miss. Thanks to author Annie Rains, Forever (Grand Central Publishing), and NetGalley. I received a complimentary copy of this ebook. The opinions expressed in this review are entirely my own.
"Finders Keepers Library" by Annie Rains is a delightful read, focusing on the journey of main characters Savannah and Evan as they rediscover their childhood crush and navigate through adult life challenges. The storyline is engaging, with secondary characters like Eleanor, June, and Charlie adding depth to the narrative with their own dramas and romances. Overall, it's an enjoyable and easy-to-read book that keeps you hooked from start to finish.
Every Annie Rains book is a cozy, heartwarming read, and The Finders Keepers Library is no exception! Our MMC, Evan Sanders, is a single dad and English teacher who just gained custody of his daughter after her mother's death from cancer six months earlier, and things are ROUGH with a preteen in the house who has just been taken away from all she knows. Our FMC, Savannah Collins, is out of work, recently dumped by her fiance after she was diagnosed with lupus, and she's struggling to find her place in the world as a botanist who can't spend too much time outside. So many things going on, but these two also share a childhood past that will leave you sighing with romantic daydreams. There is some serious pining on Evan's part as he tries to rekindle the romance that barely got started when they were teens, which always gets my heart aflutter. And a special treat for us is a side romance between Savannah's widowed aunt and a widowed male caller.
There were so many emotions for me while reading as someone who is struggling with autoimmune disorders myself - having your immune system fight against you at every turn makes life, and relationships, challenging at best. It feels like you're not good enough sometimes, and that's exactly the feeling Savannah struggles with throughout the book. She had feelings for Evan, but she also had residual pain from her fiance's words to her that he didn't want to deal with caring for her with such an illness. That leaves painful scars on your heart, and Evan had to work to help Savannah see that she was worth it. His love for her was stronger than the hard times they may go through. His daughter was also a huge part of the story in that she was dealing with her own healing after losing her mother, and Savannah worried that her illness could cause Evan and his daughter to relive trauma. But it was honestly such a testament to the bonds that had formed between the trio when, at the end of the day, it was Savannah who needed convincing that it was worth the pain to receive the joy their new little family could bring. I loved seeing how she bonded with his daughter, how Evan learned to be what his daughter needed, and how their lives changed for the better. It was a beautiful thing.
Love!
I enjoyed this story so much! Savannah has been knocked down a few times lately, but when her Aunt Eleanor needs help, she returns to Bloom. Getting reacquainted with her teenage love, Evan, who lives next door with his daughter, opens her eyes to a possibility. But can she overcome her fears?
The book has some good couples who are inspiring, and themes are health-related, agoraphobia and a child who lost her mother early. Teenage struggles, family dynamics and most of all, a love of books that underlies everything. If you enjoy small town, second chance romance (and books), I think this book is perfect for you!
Thanks to the author, publisher and NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review this book, but my opinions are my own.
Savannah’s heart has been broken. So she takes her heart, her kitten and her plants back to where she was always the happy. Back to Bloom, North Carolina, where her Aunt Eleanor , a retired librarian, who keeps the town in books, and her best Mallory live. After a life changing health diagnosis and being dumped by her boyfriend , she just wants peace. Peace to work with her plants and read. Little did she know, this wonderful town and its people would jump right back into her heart. This is a wonderful book, and I especially loved all of the literary quotes. Hope this turns into a series. Thank you NetGalley for sending me this book for an open and honest review. These comments are my own. The Finders Keepers Library- Five stars.
Savannah’s fiancée had just broken up with her after she told him she had Lupus, and she knew going to visit her Aunt Eleanor was sure to be helpful.
The summers she spent in Bloom with Aunt Eleanor were her favorite childhood times.
Going back had many surprises both good and bad.
The good was that she got to see the neighbor next door that she always had a crush on.
The bad was that there was a storm that ruined Aunt Eleanor’s garden and her library shed filled with beloved books that the neighborhood all shared as their own.
The storm actually turned out to be something good too, though, because Savannah got to stay the entire summer helping to restock the library, helping her aunt, and reconnecting with Evan.
There were quite a few other perks as well.
FINDERS KEEPERS LIBRARY is a refreshing, sweet, you-need-it read.
The characters are lovely, and the storyline is every book lover’s dream.
The reader will also love all the book quotes at the beginning of each chapter and that adorable, gorgeous cover.
Don't miss this one especially if you need something wholesome and refreshing.
Thank you to the publisher for a copy of the book. All opinions are my own.
Small town, second chance romance...Yes please! Even better its a book about books. I think one of the things I loved most about this one was all the book quotes as chapter starters. Like any other Annie Rains novel I've read this one has a full cast of characters you can't help but love. While Savannah and Evan were our main characters, I couldn't help but be drawn to Savannah's aunt Eleanor. She had to be my favorite character and not just because of her love of literature.
The book also has some great disability rep with Savannah's lupus diagnosis ( which is not something you see represented often) and Eleanor's pelvic injury that causes both mobility issues and some mental health/anxiety. As someone who watched a neighbour suffer through that exact injury I can say it was well presented. As well we get a side of heaviness and grief as Evan's daughter June deals with the loss of her mother. All of this adds up to a realistic read. Full of life lessons and learning to open up oneself. This would make a perfect Hallmark movie that I would totally watch. I think my only real criticism would be is that I wish the library would have featured more as a functioning entity and not just the rebuilding of it.
Thank you to Net Galley and Forever Pub for my advanced copy in return for an honest review.
Gotta admit, the cover is what made me click on this in the first place. I love books about books, albeit this one is a solid, Hallmark worthy romance with nuanced characters, so was an enjoyable read. Second chance love, learning to trust yourself and others, dealing with illness and death, and more, it checked off lots of our favorite romance themes.
I won't detail the plot as my use of the term Hallmark worthy probably gives the overall progress away. What I will say is that main character Savannah Collins is dealing with lupus, which you'll learn a bit about as you read. Dumped by her boyfriend as a result, she's come "home" to Bloom, North Carolina, to stay with her Aunt Eleanor/Ellie. Unknown to Savannah, Eleanor suffered a bad fall recently and had become a recluse of sorts. She still enjoyed people and her books, but had a phobia about leaving her home. Then a storm hits and seriously damages her Finders Keepers Library in her beloved rose garden. She's been helped along greatly by friends and neighbor Evan Sanders, who is raising his daughter June after the death of his wife. Savannah and he were childhood friends during her time in Bloom.
I'm betting you see where this is going. Complications, of course, arise. On the plus side, there's a wedding to attend, the bride in a wheelchair, no less, and two more separate second chance romances blooming in addition to the roses. Oh, and an unhappy daughter, well, sad daughter, who wants to make everyone happy but can't figure out how to do it. The importance of seeking help is emphasized, with multiple viewpoints giving us the thoughts of the main characters, Savannah, Evan, and Eleanor. The viewpoint is given at the beginning of their chapters, btw, which also feature a literary quote appropriate for the action within. I enjoyed the variety they offered, never quite settling on a favorite though the idea that one needs to get busy living, not dying, seems to have stuck with me.
Bottom line, although I don't read many romances anymore, I thoroughly enjoyed the book. The plot did seem slow at times but even the slower moments ultimately played into the whole, so not complaints there. I liked all the characters and, of course, rather gravitated to Evan's daughter June since we share a name. True, you know the basics of the plots of Hallmark worthy books upfront but there's also a bit of a comfort to knowing all will be well in the end. Wouldn't it be wonderful if life were that way? You want to root for all these characters, including the less prominent ones who are well-fleshed out. Thanks #NetGalley and #Forever - #GrandCentralPublishing for introducing me to not just characters I could root for but the delightful town of Bloom. I'll definitely be on the lookout for more books by this author.
I loved this book and this series. Annie Rains writes amazing romantic books. I’m not normally a romance reader but she has helped me to start reading more of that genre. This whole series is incredible!!
This is a beautiful story of starting over, the beauty of gardening and the love of books. The author has crafted a lovely story of enjoyable characters and a wonderful library that is a dream for readers to imagine. You will add to your TBR list reading this wonderful book. The books are a large part of the story and the recommendations by the author are outstanding. I enjoyed the light romance, the theme of starting over and living in this book from start to finish. A relaxing beautiful story that every reader will enjoy. I highly recommend this book for your reading enjoyment.
Thank you to the publisher, Net Galley and the publisher for the opportunity. My review opinions are my own.
Savannah Collins' fiance has broken up with her just a few months before their wedding. She heads to Bloom, North Carolina to visit with her Aunt Eleanor. Savannah used to spend summers with her Aunt and Uncle, and it feels like home to her. Her aunt is a retired librarian, who instilled the love of reading in almost everyone she has contact with. Eleanor has a large-scale little free library in her back garden, called the Finders Keepers Library. Savannah's uncle loved plants and flowers, and inspired Savannah's career in Botany. Aunt Eleanor's next door neighbor, Evan, and his daughter, June, are trying to find their way after June's mother passed away from cancer.
Everyone in the town of Bloom seems to be seeking the same thing - a second chance, whether at life or at love. This charming "second chance" novel will certainly appeal to book lovers, as "Novel Wisdom" abounds in beautiful quotes from cherished novels are woven into both the story and the beginning of each chapter!
The Finders Keepers Library will be published on April 16, 2024. Many thanks to Net Galley and Forever books for the Advance Reader Copy of this book!
I highly recommend this HEA second-chance small-town romance! I love the garden library and how all the characters' struggles are relatable.
“The Finders Keepers Library” by Annie Rains invites readers into a charming tale filled with community, love, and the healing power of literature and gardening. Set in the picturesque town of Bloom, North Carolina, the story follows Savannah Collins as she navigates life’s challenges and discovers unexpected joys.
Savannah’s journey begins with loss and uncertainty, but her decision to spend the summer with her Aunt Eleanor brings her to a place of renewal and belonging. Rains skillfully crafts a narrative that revolves around the bond between Savannah and her aunt, their shared passion for books and gardening, and the supportive community of Bloom.
One of the book’s highlights is the endearing relationship between Savannah and Aunt Eleanor, whose wisdom and kindness resonate throughout the story. Eleanor’s Finders Keepers Library, a haven of literary treasures nestled in her garden, serves as a symbol of hope and connection for the town’s residents. Think of a Little Free Library but on a much grander scale.
As Savannah reconnects with her former flame, Evan Sanders, and forms a bond with his daughter June, the narrative unfolds with warmth and authenticity. Rains delicately explores themes of resilience, love, trust and the importance of forging meaningful connections in times of adversity.
While the plot may follow a predictable path, the heartwarming portrayal of friendships and the joys of starting anew captivate readers from beginning to end. “The Finders Keepers Library” is a delightful read for those who appreciate romance, genuine relationships, and the beauty of second chances.
Overall, Annie Rains delivers a touching story that celebrates the power of love, friendship, and the magic found within the pages of a good book. “The Finders Keepers Library” is a heartwarming tale that will leave readers with a renewed sense of hope and a smile on their faces.
I received a DRC of this book from the publisher but the thoughts and opinions expressed here are my own.
I did not like this book. The writing was stilted and slow and it seems like there is so much showing rather than telling. She kept telling the reader her feelings and it drove me crazy. I did not finish this title - it was not my cup of tea from the jump. I'm sure there are others who would like this title, but I made a mistake in thinking it was me.
Loved this book. Savannah went to visit her aunt in a small town to get over her broken engagement. She found out her aunt had fallen and broke her pelvis. Aunt Eleanor didn’t tell her or she would have been there to help. The neighbor, Evan, was furious until he realized she hadn’t known. The night she arrived a bad storm hit and damaged the rose trellis and the outside library Eleanor kept for anyone wanting a book. Rebuilding everything brought Evan and Savannah together again and they grew close. When Evan discovered why her fiancé left her he was furious. I loved the small town feel, the characters, and the story line as a whole. Besides Eleanor, Savannah and Evan you have to live Evan’s daughter June. She was struggling as her mother had just died and living with her dad full time was an adjustment
An excellent story that is easy to read
I got this book from netgalley and am voluntarily leaving a review
