This author never misses in giving us a great read. I went into this one expecting a romance but got so much more I wasn’t expecting. The culture of Panama and Florida being shown, the main character finding herself and actual feelings and thoughts being discussed. I loved it

What a sweet, wonderful trad debut from A.H. Cunningham!

I have read, and will read, anything that AHC writes, so when she announced that she was getting a trad book, I was absolutely thrilled for her. This story is so unique, because where most books cut off at the proposal, or shortly thereafter, we go to see Adrian and Genevieve work through their issues and fight for their HEA. The journey that they undertook together, to be the strongest couple they could be was so sweet and tender.

And as much as I love the classic AHC spice, this one was more toned down and mild, but just as hot and sensual. I cannot wait to see what’s next in this series!

There was no story here. The author underwrote the actual important scenes during the vacation. The plot was muddled. This needed another heavy re-write and edit.

“Out of the Office” by A.H. Cunningham is an engaging Afro-Caribbean romance that follows Gabriella, a driven professional in a Miami hotel chain, and Adrián, who values a balanced life when it comes to his career. Gabriella has developed her work ethic from her mother who never seems to be pleased no matter how much effort Gabriella puts forth. When Gabriella and Adrian meet, the chemistry between the two is instant. Gabriella learns to relax and live in the moment in her relationship with Adrian. Cunningham’s vivid writing brings the settings and emotions to life, exploring themes of love, fulfillment, and self-care. I love the romance, island culture, and character development. Perfect summer read.

Overall, I think this is a serviceable romance that many will connect with. I think it will be great as a beach read this summer. I must say that for myself, I never totally believed or felt the love between Genevieve and Adrian. It always felt like something was missing. Perhaps if there had been more longing between the characters, and more of a buildup to them getting together, it would have been different.
I did enjoy the discussions of work life balance and the ways that it looks different for everyone. It was nice to see Genevieve figure out what that looked like for her and I appreciated that it was done in an authentic and realistic way.
I was a little confused at Adrian being Bi being thrown in like halfway through the book. It didn't really get explored in a meaningful way and so it just felt insignificant or random.
Though this was very middle of the road for me as a romance, I do look forward to reading more from the author in the future as there were some very interesting components.

Told from a dual POV the novel follows Genevieve Raymond overachiever, people pleaser, and a workaholic. After her success with opening a new hotel in Panama she’s in dire need of a vacation that shortly after turns into a baecation. Finding herself attracted to her sexy driver Adrian Nicolas he offers her the opportunity to stay at his family’s hometown hostel during her vacation. But upon arrival they’re informed no rooms are available forcing Gen to stay with Adrian for those two weeks.

This is a good steamy beach read. I initially started reading the book along with audio thinking it would add to my reading experience. But I was disappointed with the narrator for Adrian. His voice did not do it for me actually almost made me stop reading the book. Hate to say it but if you want to enjoy it don’t listen to the audio lol.

Being forced into close proximity both MC’s have no choice but to acknowledge their growing attraction for each other. It was giving how Gen got her groove back until their feelings got in the mix. Is two weeks really long enough to fall head over heels for someone? Maybe not but Gen and Adrian had this undeniable chemistry and an intimate connection that made them realize there’s a thin line between passion and responsibility. Not wanting their time in paradise to end both are left wondering if this two week fling has what it takes to make it to forever.

Overall, the book was pretty good. Readers can expect themes surrounding fate, desire, self-discovery, personal growth, career, family dynamics, and the challenges of navigating long distance relationships. The characters felt realistic and likable but Gen’s mom not so much. The author also didn’t hold back in the romantic scenes and I loved the representation we’re given throughout the book. If you’re looking for a steamy romance you found it. Special thanks to the author @HarlequinPublicityTeam @HarlequinBooks for my advanced copy!!!

This was a great weekend read. The chemistry between the two love interests was well written and a very well paced slow burn.

Out of Office was such a warm and pleasant read that sucked me in from the very first chapter. I adore a good vacay read and this had all the elements of a sweeping romance and finding love and taking chances.

Gen is a career-driven workaholic, who is living under the scrutiny of her mom's high expectations. After opening a hotel location in Panama with her company she decides to take two weeks off to explore other parts of Panama and get some much-needed rest and relaxation. When her driver Adrián offers to host her and his family's small villa in his hometown on the island, she reluctantly accepts and what follows is a Angela Bassett type Stella got her groove back romance.

I loved their connection, I thought it was sweet and as much as I loved Adrián he was a little too perfect, but this is a Black romance and if you like that type of character then this is for you.

After their two weeks are up they go their separate ways but not for long. Soon they're trying to figure out how to be together when she lives in Miami and he's in Panama. This story was sweet, I just wish the characters had a little more depth. But overall a delightful read.

This story is about Adrian and Genevieve. She are hardworking overachieving who is coming off of working a hotel chain in Panama. During this time she meet Adrian is working as her driver. Once her project is over she decides she needs a much needed break. She is present the opportunity to stay with him at his hostel. They have a strong desire for each other and grow to eventually have a strong bond beyond their strong chemistry.

This story was okay to me. I think it will be good for anyone who wants a sexy and spicy read. I didn't feel connected to the main characters and I didn't totally believe in their romance beyond their lust for each other. It all happened so fast and felt kind of instalovey. The time jumps kind of help, but I still wasn't convinced. Overall, I thought this book was okay. I would still read more from the author, but I felt like I wanted more out of this story in general.

3.5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️.5 stars. Genevieve has been working in Panama for a couple of months on a new hotel project and Adrian has been her driver during this time, and there is an unsaid attraction between the two of them. The project is about to wrap up, so Gen decided to take two weeks off prior to going back the US, and was planning on staying somewhere local until Adrian let her know that his family owns a B and B and she can stay there. This would be his opportunity to hopefully spend some time with Gen to get to know her better if she accepts his invitation.

Gen accepts and the day they arrive, Adrian’s sister lets him know that they have tourist group coming in to stay at their B and B, and they have no rooms available for Gen. Adrian and Gen get to know each other a lot better (wink wink) and have an amazing time together and when her vacay is over she goes back home.

Eventually, Gen reaches back out to Adrian in hopes of being able to see him again soon and they both decide to start communicating again until they can make it happen.

When they finally see each other again, they realize that they want to be together, but how will achieve what they want living two separate lives in two different countries.

We are taken on their journey of seeing if they can be together and some of the growing pains that their relationship goes through in hopes of having their happily ever after. This a cute read with some adequate spice. I learned some history of Panama, which was really good and I enjoyed learning more about both Gen and Adrian as individuals and as a couple.

Thank you so much to Afterglow Books and Netgalley for providing an advanced copy of this! All thoughts and opinions are still my own.

AH Cunningham has become an auto-read author for me. I have absolutely adored her indie published titles and was so excited to see a trade romance from her! While this wasn't a new favorite, I think there was still a lot to love in this vacation romance.

This follows an overworked, career driven heroine who is taking her first ever vacation down in Panama. When her driver invites her to stay at his families beach side hostel, the two of them start an epic vacation romance.

Let's start first with what I liked.

AH Cunningham always writes the most complex and relatable characters. Even if you're nothing like this character, their trials and experiences are so universal. Genevieve is struggling with how to balance her life while figuring out what she really wants. Is this her dream or the one she's been pushed to want? That struggle with finding what you really want out of your life is something I think all of us can relate to.

The hero is all in with the heroine. I love a worshipping hero, and Adrián was definitely that.

While I loved the characters, I think what this book was missing for me was a driving plot. This was such a quiet, slice of life story, and I wanted there to be something we were moving towards.

This is really just a story watching two people, who are together right away, figure out how to be together long term. Working through where to live, family dynamics, balance, etc. While I love getting to see couples actually be together in a romance, I felt like it was almost too much in this case.

I didn't feel as though any of the side plots were strong enough to keep the momentum and pace of the story moving. So it felt like a very slow, meandering story.

While this might not be my favorite book from this author, I think her books in general are fantastic romances. And I will definitely continue to pick up everything she releases.

DNF @40%. It came down to the writing for me which was more telling than showing. I thought we would see Gen learn how to relax while on a two-week vacation but the timeline quickly jumps to her arriving, then a week has gone by and then at chapter 12 she's left. I loved the chemistry between Gen and Adrían but I wanted more tension. The steam is pretty quick (no complaints here!) but I wanted just a couple more days of will they/won't they. I did love the descriptions of the scenery and culture and that's why I was so surprised Gen had left and we didn't see a scene with the angst of her going. I'm sad this didn't work for me, but it may work for another reader.

Thank you to NetGalley for this ARC!
Okay, I absolutely love that this book had queer, plus sized, BIPOC rep - especially because it was done in an authentic way. That being said, this story just missed the mark for me a tad. I wasn't invested in either character, especially the MMC. I understood the two hooking up, but going from that to full blown declarations of love made my head spin. This one was unfortunately jut not for me.

Thanks to NetGalley and Harlequin Romance for this read. This was done well and I do not think A.H. Cunningham can miss with her writing. This is a book I would just recommend to read it. No review required.

Genevieve is in dire need of a vacation. After months of being her driver, Adrian finally makes a move by inviting Genevieve to his family's property.
Faced with familial and work obligations, they struggle to fit into each other's lives.
This was a decent read. I enjoyed the visual that was portrayed of Colón.

A. H.! GIRL! While I felt this one leaned more to the woman's fiction side than the romance, I enjoyed this book. The journey of Genevieve finding herself was a beautiful story to watch unfold.

A. H. Cunningham can do no wrong. This book was soooo stinking cute. She has a knack for writing feel good romances.

This was such a cute read! I definitely recommend this book as your next beach read. It is such a vibe.

This book has very minimal drama and it sort of falls in the "insta-love" category but I didn't mind at all.

Genevieve Raymond is all about her career and climbing the ladder of success. Her next goal is to get promoted and be able to take the lead on all the international projects at the hotel chain she works for. She has just wrapped up a project in Panama and is in need of a vacation. When her personal driver, Adrian hears about this vacation he finally decides to let his attraction be known. It is absolutely crazy but Genevieve decides to go away for two weeks with Adrian and see what happens (YOLO! lol).

These two have had this easy connection from the start and once the barrier of professionalism is lifted things really start to heat up!

I can admit I was definitely skeptical of Genevieve's choices but I was rooting for this couple the entire time. Sometimes you just know! and that instinct took Genevieve and Adrian on a wild ride.

I love that Genevieve was forced to take stock of the things she held important in life and really assess if she wanted to work her life away for some goal that maybe wasn't even hers. She was in love but she wasn't foolish, she just needed time to figure out who and where she wanted to be in life. I thought Adrian was a breath of fresh air. he really took everything in stride and he was patient with Genevieve. He didn't just give up when things got tough. It made me root for them even more.

A.H Cunningham told a beautiful story. I'm in love with her writing and the way she illustrates Black Love.
