I first became acquainted with Suzanne Woods Fisher through her Amish fiction, but I have come to love her contemporary fiction possibly even more than her Amish books. The Cape Cod Creamery series is fun to read and takes the reader on a whirlwind of emotions.

Brynn, a civil engineer, was at a conference in Las Vegas when she meets TD, who is attending the same conference. He talks her into skipping the rest of the day's meetings and really seeing some of the sights within driving distance. They spent the day talking and getting to know each other, and then on a whim, get married before going back to the hotel. The next morning, Brynn panics and leaves TD asleep while she flies back home. She calls her friend, Dawn, who convinces her to come to Cape Cod to figure things out. Dawn is a fixer and she loves nothing more than fixing people's lives, but she can't jump in and fix Brynn because a wedding is due to happen in a week and she needs to get the ice cream prepared. At the last minute, the baker opts out making the wedding cake, the bride's mother wants individual mini cakes for each guest at the wedding. Brynn volunteers to bake the cakes, but every time she turns around, the bride's mother wants to change something else.

In Love on a Whim, Suzanne hits on hurts of various kinds, healing, forgiveness, generosity, and people who aren't afraid to take advantage of others just for the sake of it. Even though it is a rather light read, it has its depth that brings the readers into contemplation of their own lives.

3.5⭐️ This was my first book by Suzanne Woods Fisher and I really liked her writing style. I have never read anything like it. It was kind of hard to keep up with multiple women’s stories and keep them all straight, but it makes you keep reading and wanting to see what happens next. With that said, I really just wanted Brynn’s story. She is the newest character introduced, and I wanted her story to be at the forefront, but Marnie and Dawn’s stories overshadowed it.

I also wanted more romance! Brynn’s romance could have been epic, and she didn’t even interact with her love interest until very late in the book. I know it is more of a women’s fiction, so romance is not the focal point, but there could have been just a bit more of it. Brynn and TD could have had a lovely story of getting to know each other, but hey, if there is a 4th installment, I will read that to get more of Brynn and TD.

Also, communication is non-existent in this book. All of these characters, and I mean ALL of them, hold their issues in their hearts and never talk! I wanted to slap multiple people to just forgive and have faith! And ultimately that was what the story was about in the end, which I did love. Forgiveness and having faith in God, and putting your trust in Him. Everything works out how it is supposed to.

This book can be read as a standalone, but I think I missed out on a few things by not reading the first 2 books before this one. So I would recommend reading ‘The Sweet Life’ and ‘The Secret to Happiness’ before you dive into this one. I also think my overall enjoyment of this book would have been better by reading about Marnie, Callie, and Dawn and understanding them and their situations, before wanting to only have Brynn’s story. But I didn’t, so this book fell a little flat. I know I said a lot of negative things, but overall, I did enjoy it.

Read if you enjoy:
- Found family
- Women’s fiction
- Marriage on a whim
- Multiple POVs

Thank you to NetGalley, the author, and the publisher for the complimentary copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

First let me say I didn't realize that this was the third installment in the Cape Cod Creamery series. I think I would've enjoyed the family drama in the story more if I had read the previous books. However even with that, you can read and enjoy this book.

Set in Cape Cod, on the beach, there's an ice cream creamery that just made me want to visit. The characters are full of strength and love throughout the story. I would say this is the story of Brynn. I loved how her huge life mistake panned out in the end for the best. Dawn and Kevin's story continues, and we also see more about Callie's cooking school.

Thank you to Suzanne Woods Fisher, NetGalley and Revell publishing for allowing me this eversion arc in exchange for my honest review.

Love On a Whim is the third book in the Cape Cod Creamery series. While you may have a better understanding of many of the relationships and characters mentioned throughout the story if you've read the previous books, this could probably be enjoyed as a standalone as well.

This story drew me in right from the start... the story starts with Brynn's announcement that she has married someone who is essentially a stranger, and then panicking and fleeing to Cape Cod. I thought this was such an interesting idea for a story. Throw in complicated family relationships and a last-minute wedding to be catered and there was a lot going on in the story... but it all worked together to keep me wanting to know what was going to happen next. While we didn't get as much of the romance between Brynn and TD as I would have expected, I found that it worked well for this story and that didn't bother me at all. There were many 'surprises' that I admittedly saw coming very early on... but it didn't impact my enjoyment of the story at all. The message of faith and seeing God's plan in it all was strong throughout the story which I really appreciated as well.

This was another great addition to a fantastic series and one that I really enjoyed.

So good! This cover and all of the covers in the series are especially lovely. The books have all been wonderful, but Love on a Whim is my favorite. The characters are great even though ice cream maker, control freak, and former CPA Dawn does get on my nerves at times. I really liked Brynn and Bear. Dawn's friend Brynn has made a life changing mistake and Callie wants to fix it, her way. Marnie, Dawn's mom and owner of the ice cream shop wants Brynn to listen to her heart. Naturally, Brynn is confused and that's why she is spending time at Cape Cod taking a break from her engineering job in Boston. Things really get crazy as it is the week of the wedding of Ashleigh, daughter of Marnie's boyfriend, Lincoln. The whole crew steps up to help with the festivities when things fall apart, including niece/cousin chef Callie. This story has all the emotions, conflicts, health scare, all with a good dose of healing, faith, trust, and love. Suzanne Woods Fisher hit it out of the park! For full enjoyment, read the books in order. Recommended to those who love romance with issues to overcome and a faith thread.

When Brynn marries in haste and then panics, what better place to escape to than Cape Cod? Dawn and Marnie are ready to welcome her with open arms, and Dawn is eager to solve all her problems - and of course, she knows exactly what they are, even if Brynn and Marnie aren't quite so sure. Is this out-of-character action really just a whim, or is it Brynn truly listening to her heart for the first time in her life? Either way, what should she do about it? But things are put on the back-burner when Lincoln needs help with his daughter's wedding - and attempting to reconcile with his son Bear.

This probably could be read as a standalone story but I think would be better read as part of the series, as there's a lot of continuation of Marnie and Dawn's stories (and others) included. I've really been enjoying this series and I hope this isn't the end, though it feels like it could be. My one more negative comment would be that Dawn annoys me with her certainty that she knows what is best for everyone and her efforts to push them into it - but since it's something she does come to realise she needs to address and works to fix, I can live with it. In this case, I loved watching Brynn gradually start to be willing to think for herself and to take risks in life. And seeing Lincoln working to make amends for past mistakes and reconcile with his family was great too. With some great plot twists, characters I enjoyed getting to know/seeing more of, inspiring lessons, meaningful relationships and a beautiful setting, not to mention a satisfying ending, this is definitely a book I'd recommend.

Note that I received a complimentary copy of the book from NetGalley. I was not required to write a positive review and this is my considered opinion of the book.

This is the third book in the Cape Cod Creamery series by the author. We meet up with characters from the first two books and meet new ones. It is good to read the first two books in order to be able to follow the continuity of the characters through in this book.

I loved the storyline and characters in this book. When no nonsense Brynn makes a very quick, rash, regretful decision, she runs to her best friend in Cape Cod for help. While there, so many events happen that makes this a book you will not want to put down until you finish the books. This is a book full of love, faith, and sweet romance.

I highly recommend it to those who love sweet, clean romance books. I received an advance copy of this book from NetGalley and Revell publishers.

This third installment of the Cape Cod Creamery showcased the struggles with comparison, forgiveness, and patience. There were many times in this book that I could see myself in the character and their reaction was pretty much the same one I would have had.

The premise of this book took me by surprise in the beginning but as Brynn started to talk more about her life and how she had felt that connection with TD in the beginning, I thought about people talking about love at first sight and thought, is this what this means?

The best part of this book was how I initially felt about Bear and how towards the middle of the book I truly started to feel sad for him. He needed to realize there were people out there who cared for him if he would just truly listen.

I hope there will be another installment.

I received a complimentary copy of the book from Revell through NetGalley. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

I enjoyed this book very much! It was definitely a wonderful story!
This is a can't put down book and one that will have you drooling all the way through.
I was happy to see the returning characters like Callie and Bruno.
Little Leo cracked me up every time.
Then we have Bear! Man!
Bear is a different story altogether. Hardheaded too! Wow!
I really wanted to pound him straight into the ground at times. Geeze!
It's sad that what's right in front of him he can't see.
I loved the many quotes that were in this story. Marnie's especially.
She is a smart lady.
Dawn was telling Brynn "Brynn",
here’s an illustration from engineering that you’ve taught me. If the foundation of the building isn’t level, the whole building will end up crooked. Everything builds on each other.”
So true! “Consider yeast in a dough. If it’s gone bad, the dough won’t rise. You don’t keep baking. You stop, toss it in the bin, and start again with the right ingredients.”
This is very true on one's journey through life. It's never easy.
Dawn is quite the character! Pushy is how I'd describe her. Very.
I'm not sure I like her now either. I definitely didn't like her in the first story.
Poor Linc and that's all I'll say about him. You will just need to read the story to find out why I said that!
I am looking forward to the next book in this series. I hope there's one anyways.
I enjoyed being in the town of Chatham.
The community feels like home to me and the people there are family.
A wonderful read and one I highly recommend!
My thanks to Netgalley and Revell for a copy of this book. I was NOT required to write a positive review. All opinions expressed are my own.

Amish fiction is one of my go to gonres. I especially love Suzanne Woods Fisher's books. Her books are always wholesome fast reads.

I especially loved this series. This book is book three in the series. If you have not read the first two books, they are must reads. The third book can be read as a stand alone novel with no problem, but books one and two are awesome reads as well.

Highly recommend this book and the entire series. I read this one in one day.

This third book in Suzanne Woods Fisher’s Cape Cod Creamery series was everything I had hoped it would be, and more! The lovely setting was the perfect backdrop for revisiting the Dixon family and their friends and seeing what they have been up to since the conclusion of the second book, The Secret to Happiness. The wedding of Lincoln Hayes’ daughter brought about a beehive of activity for the Dixons and Dawn’s friend Brynn who had come to Chatham after walking away from an impulsive 24-hour marriage. The tension between Linc and his son, Bear, was ever present, along with an animosity Bear held against the Dixon family. This author has an incredible talent for writing characters with many layers and I was so engrossed in their individual and interacting storylines that I only put the book down once(to get some sleep) before finishing. The personal and spiritual growth Brynn, Dawn and Bear go through was encouraging and inspiring. Key themes were trusting your heart, following God’s leading, and forgiveness. I closed this book with a happy sigh, but am sorry to see the series conclude as these book characters have become like friends. I also enjoyed the ice cream quotes and variety of character text messages throughout the chapters. This is such a wonderful series and I’d recommend reading them all and in sequence.

Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for an advanced reader copy. A positive review was not required and these are my own opinions.

Chatham seems to be the place for topsy-turvy lives to find their equilibrium. Is it the ice cream? The ocean? The plethora of handsome, emotional men? Whatever it is, something works its magic on Brynn and her rash of impulsive decisions. Marnie and Dawn offer two totally different perspectives to their struggling friend, even as they’re going through crises of their own. My heart broke for them all - the pressure they were under, and the damage it threatened to do to their hearts’ fragile hopes. The twists in this story were absolutely perfect and kept me suspended between hope and tears. You will love the brave endings in this story! A perfect wrap for this encouraging series. I was grateful to receive an early copy of the book via NetGalley, and was not required to post a review.

This proved the perfect read to start (and finish!) on a long-weekend getaway recently!

_Love on a Whim_ is the strongest book in the series for me (and I do recommend reading them in order, to avoid spoilers as well as appreciate character growth over the course of the series and their respective stories). I also felt it was the best written of the three; it still felt a bit wordy at times, but was absolutely a step up from before.

I particularly enjoyed figuring out one plot point early on--a rarity for me!--and eagerly awaiting how it would pan out for the characters. That proved quite satisfying and worth the wait!

Fisher did a wonderful job at balancing receiving advice and taking ownership of one's own decisions and life. She weaved Christian faith throughout, and certainly prompted me to do some thinking. The one downside for me was an interjection about "your truth" and how it might be different for someone else; that is a pet peeve of mine, and also felt at odds with all the other _good_ things to that point. But thankfully it was a passing single reference.

All in all, a worthy conclusion to the series, and one that certainly whetted my sweet tooth!

I received an eARC of the book from the publisher via NetGalley. All opinions are my own.

Grab a bowl of ice cream and enjoy your time spent at the Cape Cod Creamery. I only made it to the second chapter before getting some ice cream. This was a one day read. Some misty moments. I was happy to have my suspicions be correct. A wonderful continuation of the Cape Cod Creamery characters. I eagerly await the next one in this sweet faith based series. Thanks to the publisher for providing a copy via NetGalley. My review is voluntary.

This was a sweet quirky romance that readers are sure to love. Brynn, a planner and engineer meets TD and in the same day, they get married. Scared and unsure, she flees the next morning and runs to her aunt’s beach ice cream shop to stay for a while. While she’s there, she realizes that her dreams are possible and that love may come quick but that doesn’t mean it’s not real. I loved this and the other books in this series.

Suzanne Woods Fisher writes books that are fun, clean and light. Her latest novel, Love on Whim is the the third book in her Cape Cod Creamery series. It's a good continuation of the community that surrounds the Cape Cod Creamery and introduces a few new characters that blend in nicely. I especially appreciate how Fisher subtly infuses the narrative with themes of faith and belief in God. The story line is a bit unrealistic, however, it's an enjoyable book that readers of Fisher will enjoy. It's definitely best to start at the first book in the series, The Sweet Life.

A good romance, with lots of trails of connections. Brynn flees to Cape Cod to stay with her friend after running out on her honeymoon. Meeting a man at a conference and getting married in Las Vegas seemed a good idea at the time, but not the next morning. Getting roped into helping work on a wedding is just what she needs to come to terms with things. Figured out quickly that her husband was there, but took a long time to finally connect. Good story, and one that was hard to put down. Would highly recommend and would be a good beach read.

A heartwarming story with faith and romance. The third book in the Cape Cod series has some returning characters, and a set of interesting new ones.
"If only love had a recipe."
Well-written as usual, full of insight and subtle humor, this was a quick read. Like an ice cream cone in July, I lapped it up! Loved seeing how Marnie and Lincoln grew in their relationship, which was thoroughly tested here. Some good examples of how unforgiveness can grow into bitterness and affect other relationships. The plot twist was kind of a surprise, but as Marnie points out, it's a miracle--God can do the impossible--and He can bring good out of any situation.
I hope this isn't the last book in the series. It has been very enjoyable and remains one of my all time favorite inspirational romance series. 5 stars!

My thoughts: I love Suzanne Woods Fisher's books, and this was no different. All our favorite characters from Cape Code were there, and we got the lastest news on the Dixon family. I enjoyed revisiting with the characters and getting to know Bear, I liked him though he truly was a bear, Dawn got on my nerves a bit she a my way, no highway option type and she and her husband butted heads often. I loved the way that the Dixons (including honorary members) worked
together to solve problems and I wanted to throttle Linc's ex-wife. I am looking forward to more in this series (Yes, Ms. Fisher? Please?) Highly recommended. I was given a copy free and all opinions are my own.
