This book pulls you in from the very beginning. There were so many twists and turns in the story line that makes you keep reading to find out how it will all end. I enjoyed everything about this book: the setting, the storyline, and the characters.
I definitely recommend this thrilling romance!
I really loved this last book in this series. I recommend reading them in order to enjoy them in the best way. I loved Ivy and Nolan and all the twists and turns they go through in order to find a missing girl and a missing manuscript. I loved the action and the suspense. I received a copy of the book from the publisher for a fair and honest opinion that I gave of my own free will.
Another great adventure that I thoroughly enjoyed.
In my opinion, this is the best one in the series.
Goddard has once again taken us on a rollercoaster of a ride that kept me engaged until the end.
I loved the many twists and turns this book offered that I didn't see coming.
Ivy and Nolan are great characters with one goal in mind.
Will they be able to do it? Can they work as a team?
You'll just have to read this wonderful story to find out!
I really didn't want this story to end at all.
5 stars for a wonderful story. I highly recommend it
My thanks for a copy of this book. I was NOT required to write a positive review. All opinions expressed are mine.
Elizabeth Goddard has never disappointed me! Book 3 in the Missing Alaska series was no different! I was hooked with the first chapter and didn't want to put it down! A former FBI agent , Ivy, searching for an unpublished manuscript by Jack London is joined by Alaska State Trooper Nolan Long in trying to locate and protect the teenager who is thought to have the manuscript in her possession. Ivy, a Florida native, is not prepared for an Alaskan blizzard! Missing in Alaska has lots of action! You will feel like you are in the midst of it! I recommend this book to anyone who enjoys romantic suspense. I received my complimentary e-book from the author through NetGalley. This is my honest opinion.
Hidden in the Night is action-packed romantic suspense. The main characters are likeable. The story grabbed my attention quickly and kept it throughout the book. The plot has enough twists and turns to keep the reader never knowing what was going to happen next. I wish that there had been a conversation towards the end of the book between two characters about the reason behind the blackmail. Author Elizabeth Goddard is an artist with words. She is able to transport her readers into the scenes in the book and into the lives of her characters. I would read more of this author and am looking forward to her new series.
I received a complimentary copy through NetGalley from the publishers and am sharing my opinion of this well-written book.
There were a lot of pieces that had to come together in the end to make the story make sense but it was fun seeing how the author did it. How things there revealed piece by piece to tie them all together. The attraction between the two characters made me wonder how they were going to work it out and unfortunately, I was a little disappointed with how it ended. The main issue between them was that one lived in Alaska and another in Florida and I didn't feel like it had been resolved realistically. It was only based on feelings, although I understand it is a book and it might not be interesting for most people to read about how people practically work out that type of issue. Nevertheless, as a story about a lost manuscript and a treasure hunt of sorts because of it, it was decently written.
Hidden in the Night, by Elizabeth Goddard, opens with Ivy Elliott entering a cabin, engulfed in snow, only to find a man beyond the unlocked front door with a knife protruding from his chest. Ivy had come to Alaska in response to a threat against her mother; however, this is the last thing she ever expected to encounter. You sense this will be a tale full of unknowns!
Two days previous Ivy had met up with the woman she thought could help with her quest to track down a rare manuscript. Ivy arrives only to discover that this woman’s granddaughter had not only taken the manuscript but she was missing herself. Now Ivy’s search has expanded from just locating a rare item to also tracking down a missing young woman who may also be in danger!
When Ivy seeks help from the Alaska State Troopers, she is surprised to be face to face with Nolan Long. She had met Nolan previously; however, Ivy had not been able to forget this man. Nolan was in the same place of limbo about Ivy!
It is interesting to see what Ivy and Nolan discover as they move forward in their search for this missing woman. They will definitely encounter a lot of action along the way!
Sometimes I think it odd that I would say this, but, to me, this book had too much action. It goes from one crisis to another hardly without taking a breath. The characters are believable and likable. The story does move at a fast pace. It that is what you like, then read this well-written book.
I loved how the book opened with the Alaskan State Troopers creed. It's a powerful statement of integrity and commitment.
The setting of this story is both beautiful and dangerous. Not just the harsh elements but also a killer who wants to stop Ivy from finding a lost manuscript by Jack London—or is the killer trying to prevent her from finding a missing girl? Both scenarios seem plausible, adding an intriguing dynamic to the story.
As Nolan and Ivy search for answers and struggle with past failures, they must also navigate their growing feelings for each other. Can the Mountain Man of Alaska and the Sunshine Girl from Florida build a life together?
Overall, I enjoyed this story. At times, it felt like I was missing critical details about Nolan and Ivy's previous encounter. However, the story offered some clever misdirection, leading to a climactic showdown with the antagonist. Although I would recommend this book, it wasn't my favorite by Elizabeth Goddard.
Disclaimer: I received a copy of this book from the publisher with no obligation to write a review. All opinions expressed are my own.
I enjoyed reading this book. It held my attention throughout. It was well-written and flowed well. The editing was well done and did not interfere with the reading enjoyment.
It was part love story and part mystery. The characters were well-developed and enjoyable. There were many characters in this book and, they all added to the mystery. For a change, I did not guess the ending. This kept me interested until the very end.
The only downside was the ending seemed slightly rushed.
I was given this ARC to read and review through the Revell Reads program. I am not required to provide a positive review. All thoughts are my own.
Former FBI Agent Ivy Elliot is searching for a rare and hidden manuscript written by Jack London for her mother. She travels to Alaska to get it, at least that's her intent until it turns into a seek and rescue mission. The owner's granddaughter and the manuscript are missing.
Alaska State Trooper Nolan Long hasn't been able to get Ivy out of his mind since meeting her in Florida. He now finds himself working with her to rescue a missing young woman. The two travel in blizzard conditions and encounter dangerous situations on the search. Something sinister is going on.
I received an advanced reader's copy from the author, Elizabeth Goddard and publisher via NetGalley. This is my own unsolicited opinion about the book. I have read the first two books in the series and I'm sad to see it finish. If you've read the others, you will find characters from the previous stories included. It can be stand-alone. I really like the well-developed characters and the twisting plot. The mystery that unfurls is wild yet believable. I liked it a lot and give it a 4.5.
Goddard has done a wonderful job with this last book in the "Missing in Alaska" series!
For once, I read the series all in order, and it did pay off; it wasn't as critical as other series I've read, but certainly prior books' characters appeared or were referenced, as were events. I'm proud of myself for reading in order!
The read felt very Susan May Warren-ish at times, in the best way--nonstop action (no, the characters apparently could not catch a break, hehe!) from start to finish! And Goddard did a wonderful job bringing Alaska to life. I learned so much about the different regions of the state and how weather patterns can vary from place to place; who knew? (It also makes me want some PNW/Alaskan salmon, thankyouverymuch.)
I also really enjoyed the hunt for the Jack London manuscript. Anything bookish is particularly appealing to me as an avid reader, and I've read _White Fang_ and _Call of the Wild_ in years past. (I also still remember _White Fang_ as being my first movie in theaters that was sold out before we could get tickets. I'm sure I dated myself with that, but there ya go!)
An excellent finish to a series I'm sad to see end. I'll be curious to see what direction Goddard goes next.
I received an eARC of the book from the publisher via NetGalley. All opinions are my own.
Hidden in the Night
Missing in Alaska #3
By Elizabeth Goddard
Ivy Elliot is the one Nolan Long let get away. But when the opportunity arises to maybe win her heart, everything is put on hold when she turns up in Alaska, hunting for a rare manuscript by Jack London.
But Ivy isn't the only person interested in this manuscript. In fact, someone is willing to kill for it. And when a young woman goes missing while in possession of the manuscript, Ivy's short stint in Alaska becomes longer. She can't turn her back on a young woman in need of help.
When an attack leaves the Alaska State Troopers down an officer, Nolan's vacation is postponed. And as Ivy and Nolan continue investigating, they start to find unexpected links in their cases. Is it just a coincidence, or is something more sinister at play?
Hidden in the Night is the third and final book in the Missing in Alaska series, and it is full of page-turning suspense as the clock, the weather, and a determined killer work against them. Will Ivy and Nolan have a chance at determining the future where their hearts are concerned? Or will a killer end their romance before it begins?
This is an all-nighter, so plan on reading over a weekend and let everyone know you will be unavailable for the foreseeable future. Set your cell phone on silent, grab your favorite drink, snuggle into your reading corner, and delve into the frozen Alaska wilderness; I highly recommend reading the first two books before starting Hidden in the Night, though the title can be read as a stand-alone title.
I was provided a complimentary copy of this book with no expectations but that I provide my honest opinion. All thoughts expressed are my own.
SEARCHING OFF THE GRID
Author Elizabeth Goddard is one of my favorite “go-to's” for reading a steller romantic suspense book. Goddard does not disappoint in her latest release, Hidden in the Night! She uses the beautiful backdrop of the wilds of Alaska as her setting. Goddard has created an intriguing plot that will keep readers engaged from the first page to the last. Her characters are relatable, and you cannot keep from hoping they can work together to accomplish their mission, which requires them to do a lot of searching off the grid for a missing young woman and a missing manuscript. The two are linked, but the searchers are unsure if they will find them together. And, you cannot keep from hoping that the former FBI Agent and the Alaska State Trooper will be able to work out a way to make what would be a very long-distance relationship ship work. I highly recommend this book!
I was provided a copy of this book by Revell and NetGalley. The opinions expressed here are entirely my own and without influence.
This conclusion to Goddard's Missing in Alaska series is an adventurous story. It even includes a storyline involving a lost manuscript written by the Alaska adventure writer Jack London, along with storylines about a missing granddaughter, a murdered uncle, blackmail, sabotage, and black ops operators, along with a touch of romance. This book has it all! Readers will be compelled to keep reading until all the facts are sorted out, and there are so many facts that they muddy the waters more than clear them up. The book is written in typical Goddard fashion, and her fans won't be disappointed.
I am grateful to have received a complimentary copy of Hidden in the Night from Revell via NetGalley without obligation. All opinions expressed here are my own.
Hidden In The Night is another excellent book by Elizabeth Goddard.
Ivy has left the FBI because her Mom is sick. With her Mom running a rare book store, she sends Ivy to Alaska to look for a rare manuscript. While she's there, she starts being targeted. Then, the one person who has a lead on the manuscript goes on the run for her life.
Enter State Trooper Nolan, who Ivy is very interested in, but she won't act on it, who saves her and then stays with her to help find the missing girl and the manuscript.
Finding out exactly what the manuscript really contained was a total surprise.
This story takes you through lots of close calls, twists, and turns and has an exciting ending. This is a book not to be missed.
Ivy Elliott lives in Florida with her mother, who is battling cancer. To fulfill a family dream, Ivy travels to Alaska to purchase a Jack London manuscript. She met Nolan Long by chance some time ago, and he had never left her mind. Unbeknownst to her, it’s been the same for Nolan. He never expects to see his “Sunshine Girl” in Alaska in the frigid winter…and nor can he ever anticipate the mess that occurs when she’s back in his world. Hidden in the Night by Elizabeth Goddard is a story of intrigue, crime, suspense, and rekindled relationships. It’s definitely one that kept me on my toes!
As a child, I loved scavenger hunts. I always imagined being a pirate, using a map and reaching that fabled “x marks the spot.” I even revisited Disney’s Pirates of the Caribbean movies recently because I wanted to dive back into that “quest” mindset. Scavenger hunts always have twists, turns, and dead ends. Childhood ones, though, rarely have danger like what’s seen in Hidden in the Night. It may start and end with the manuscript, but Ivy and Nolan must traverse different zigs and zags along the way. Murders, threats, missing girls. This is all further complicated by their feelings for each other—feelings they don’t initially discuss. So of course, there are miscommunications galore!
I loved revisiting the old characters from the series. I loved seeing Ivy and Nolan face their emotional and mental wounds. Their battles and subsequent triumphs offer hope to readers that they can overcome their own traumas. Ivy and Nolan stand by one another, but they don’t fix each other, which I found refreshing. Their relationship also seems genuine, not forced or rushed. That’s often my biggest gripe with romance novels. The characters go from strangers to professing their undying love far too quickly. Not the case with Hidden in the Night. Ivy and Nolan take things slow and steady. Well, as slow as you can be when you’re getting shot at!
Hidden in the Night by Elizabeth Goddard is the perfect conclusion to her “Missing in Alaska” series. While each novel stands alone, they come together to create a vivid picture of life in Alaska, and the series is one romantic suspense lovers won’t want to miss!
The story has two main plots that intertwine, find the missing manuscript and find the missing girl, presumably when one is found both will be found. Ivy Elliot is in Alaska searching for a missing manuscript where she is then tasked with finding a missing girl. Nolan Long is an Alaska State Trooper who joins in the search
The story is filled with suspense, murder, blackmail, inspirational themes, plot twists and turns, action, humor, and romance. Alaska is the place referred to as "the land of the lost".....lost people, lost manuscript, people who don't want to be found, etc. The backdrop is beautiful and the characters are wonderful. This is the third book in the series and you don't have to read the previous books but it helps to know who some of the other characters are. The author does summarize them but if you want more in depth details then I would recommend reading the previous books.
This is another engaging romantic suspense from Goddard. We know from the beginning that Ivy is in potential danger in her Alaska adventure. We get hints of blackmail and a sense she must find a missing Jack London manuscript before it is too late.
The characters are likable. Since Ivy is a past FBI agent, it was entirely reasonable she worked with Alaska State Trooper Nolan. The action is nearly continuous, from snow storm drama to choppy waters boating. The setting was well presented. The villain structure was a bit complex but became mostly clear at the end. And, of course, there is a good potential romance in the plot too.
While this is the third book in the series, it reads well on its own. Characters from the earlier novels appear here but only in supporting roles. Their earlier experiences are not needed to enjoy this novel. You will learn a bit about Jack London, his venture to Alaska and his subsequent writing too.
I received a complimentary egalley of this book from the publisher. My comments are an independent and honest review.
Hidden In The Night is the third book in Elizabeth Goddard's Missing In Alaska series. It wraps the trilogy up nicely (each book can stand alone, but they do build upon each other).
Ivy is in Alaska looking for a long-lost manuscript. Unfortunately the person who is thought to have it, is now missing. As Ivy searches she continuously runs into Alaska State Trooper, Nate (who also is searching for the missing person). They had met once before, but she didn't think anything would come of it since she lives in Florida and he's in Alaska. They kind of dance around each other until they figure out they need to work together to find the missing person...and to figure out how they really feel about each other.
Hidden In The Night is a well-written, well-paced story with suspense, danger, interesting characters, Christian themes, and a romance between two deserving people. The author's descriptions of Alaska have me wanting to pack my bags and head there for a much needed vacation.
I highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a well-written Christian Romantic Suspense.
I received an advance ecopy of this book from Revell and NetGalley. I also received a paperback copy from the publisher. My thoughts and opinions are my own and without bias or favor or expectation.
