I have been loving this series set in Jubilee with the Pipe family, but I have to say that this book with Wiley is an absolute must read. While I really love Linnie and Wiley’s story, I have to say the love story that really caught me was Wiley and Ava. It tugged on my heartstrings, and was such a joy to read. 💯 recommend this book!
Wiley Pope has had a crush on Linette from the first time he asked her out. Unfortunately, their date was less than successful due to some catty women and Linette was not interested in trying again. However, when Wiley saved her and many others during a bank robbery, Linette saw Wiley in a new light. This story was amazing with all of the secondary characters we got to revisit and some new ones we didn’t like but were written as only Sharon Sala can do it. Your heartstrings will be tugged when you meet Ava and hear her story. This was a truly fabulous book, and I can’t wait for the next one in the series.
Everything that I like about Sharon Sala book was in Left Behind. Love, honor, humor, kindness - It’s all here.
I absolutely fell in love with Ava, a little seven year old girl whose life started off with nothing. She had a mother who didn’t want her, not a pillow or a bed cold french fries, drive-by shootings outside her window, everything a child should never experience.
But when, almost by accident, she winds up in the care of her half brother, we get to watch her life turnaround. We watch her learn to love, learn to trust, and most importantly forget to be afraid.
We also get to watch Wiley and Lynette fall in love. As always, this story is part of a bigger story, they’re all part of the fabric of Pope Mountain. I love the authors talent in writing little mini stories about towns like Jubilee, Kentucky, or Blessing, Georgia.
Thanks to Casablanca/Sourcebooks for the galley, all opinions are my own.
This is a fast-moving story with a strong emotional impact. Wiley Pope is a police officer who's definitely sowed his oats so much so that when he meets the love of his life, they come back to haunt him, and his relationship is toast before it began. Well not quite toast since Wiley and Linette will get another chance and more curved balls which make for excellent reading.
Wiley walks into the bank to stop a robbery in process. Linette his love interest also happens to be at the bank when he saves the day. Can they put their aborted love story back on track? It sure seems like that but then a series of communication snafus seem to get in the way but fortunately they sort it out.
Just when it seems things are going smooth a woman shows up at the Jubilee police station claiming that Aaron Pope, fathered her daughter and disappeared on her. Fortunately, Wiley is on the scene and knows that the child is their half-sister. In the process of protecting the child from the conversation he takes her to the break room and falls in love. The child will clutch at your heartstrings with her story of all that she owns packed in a pillowcase and a request for a pillow of her own.
Can Wiley and Linette's budding romance sustain him adopting a child and focusing his energies on making his half-sister comfortable. What a lovely story and clearly the little girl steals the show with her fears and desires that all her newfound happiness be protected at all costs. An absolutely winner that stole my heart.
Wile Pope was the brother with women on "speed dial." Now we see his heart and loving as he takes on a surprising half-sister. Left by her mother, Linette only wants a bed and pillow of her own. She gets love and caring as she in enfolded into the Pope family. Great summer read and a wonderful addition in this series.
Wiley and Linette are both enjoyable characters and this book is well written. I enjoyed the love story and most of the secondary storylines. There were just so many secondary ones that it detracted from the love story. This book is a solid 4 stars. Thank you NetGalley for an advanced copy.
Left Behind, is so full of different things. Most of it centers around Wiley and the Pope family. That is some family. Everyone of them are so lucky to have each other. There always something going on different that kept me turning the pages until I had finished the book.
Thank you for allowing me to read this book, it was a true pleasure.
The story follows the 3rd Pope brother in the series, Wiley, and his love for Linette, after the worst first date in history... and small-town gossip getting in the way.
This was an easy weekend read that kept me engaged the whole time, It was fast-paced and easy to follow, even though there are multiple storylines it wasn't confusing or difficult to keep everything in order - which would also make this the perfect beach or holiday read to pick up and put down again.
I absolutely loved the character of Ava, she was the story's star for me, my heart broke and was re-made for her throughout the story.
I greatly anticipate the next in the series.
Thank you Netgalley and Sourcebooks Casablanca for a copy of Left behind by Sharon Sala. This is the fourth book in the Jubliee Kentucky. I read the previous book, and jumped right in and totally enjoyed it. A fast, easy romantic suspense is the perfect beach read. This story centers around the 3rd Pope brother, Wiley and I just loved his and Linette's story, as well as the new character Ava. Can't wait for the next book!
Though not my favorite from Sharon Sala, but still a good novel. There was a lot happening in this book with multiple integrated storylines. Can't wait for the next in this series.
Everything that was lost will be found again.
Jubilee PD Officer Wiley Pope thinks he's ruined things with Linette Elgin. He hasn't seen or heard from the local nurse since their date gone wrong. But when Wiley's trip to the bank turns into a robbery with Linette as one of the hostages, his training and protective instincts kick into full gear. A heroic bullet to his armor-protected chest is enough for Linette to forgive Wiley's past mistakes and begin anew.
While his love for Linette grows daily, Wiley finds himself in over his head when a murder investigation is linked to Pope Mountain. If that wasn't enough, a woman from Wiley's father's past abandons her seven-year-old daughter at the police station in an attempted money scheme. But the minute the woman signs over her parental rights, Wiley and Linette welcome the wary little girl into their family and show her what real love looks like.
Returning to Jubilee, Kentucky, we follow the story of Wiley Pope, a local police officer. His first date with Linette Elgin is spoiled by two ex-girlfriends, but he remains hopeful for another chance. During a robbery at the local bank where Linette is present, Wiley intervenes and is shot, prompting Linette to reconsider a second chance with him.
For those familiar with the series, Jubilee is a town where something is always happening. When a shooting victim is found on the mountain, Wiley is assigned to guard her. Complications arise when a woman, who was the mistress of Wiley's father, appears with a seven-year-old girl, alleging her to be Aaron's daughter. Wiley, knowing the truth about the woman, clarifies the situation. Touched by the girl, Ava, and learning of her mother's abuse, he decides to take her in.
Wiley and Linette create a loving home for Ava, who is warmly embraced by the Pope family. The stories of the Pope family are truly wonderful there is always mystery.
Small town, multiple stories - some love, some friendship, some running from those bad guys! Almost a multiple character study, great for the weekend!
Sharon Sala's book Left Behind is an emotionally and brutally poignant story that is part thriller, part romance, and one hundred percent love story.: the love between two adults and the love parents have for their children (even those being adopted). Ms. Sala does such a wonderful job engulfing readers inside the story, the readers can't help but become entwined in the lives of the characters: crying when something bad happens and cheering when they celebrate a milestone. Left Behind is the first book I've read by Ms. Sala, but I guarantee this won't be the last, as I can't wait to see what else this masterful storyteller has in store for us.
Excellent! Rare 5 star!
Every time I read another book in this series, I feel like its better than the last. This book is so heartbreaking, yet loving and wonderful all at the same time.
The story revolves around Wiley, the 3rd of the Pope brothers. He, like his brother Aaron, is a police officer, and a chance bank robbery brings Wiley and Linette, a woman who he had one disastrous date with, but never forgot. Once they cleared up the past, they begin a relationship. When a huge surprise arises, the whole family steps up, but mostly Wiley and Linette, who take little Ava into their home and hearts forever.
The description of what Ava went through in her 7 years is heartbreaking, but unfortunately all too true. Don't worry, nothing is graphic, but there are clear implications and descriptions are through the innocent eyes of a child who doesn't know life any other way than she has lived it.
I can't wait for the next book, assuming BJ will finally get his story told.
Thanks to the author, publisher and NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review this book, but my opinions are my own.
I received a copy of this book from Netgalley for a honest review.
Left Behind by Sharon Sala was a great beach read, it kept me engaged the entire book. We start with a bank robbery that introduces us to two of the main characters of the book, Wiley Pope and Linette Elgin. These two are so sweet together but the sweetest is little Ava, she made my heart hurt. I'm so glad she got her Bubba. This book has great characters and some interesting story lines that run through it. A definite feel good book.
This author continues to surprise me everytime. I think I have a favorite book of Sharon Sala and then she out does it again and again. The story kicks off at a breathtaking speed with a bank robbery and the fast pace continues throughout. The Pope's discover they have a little half sister and to say she stole my heart is a understatement. I love how there is more than one drama happening at a time making it complex multilayered plot but I never got confused. This is the best book of the series so far and if I could give it more than five stars I would. It deserves unlimited stars!!
Another story from Jubilee Kentucky. Wiley Pope’s life changes when his unknown little sister comes into his life. Only seven and with a hard life, she brings him joy and the love of his life. ARC from NetGalley.
Unlike all the 5 star reviews, I found this book didn’t work for me. I felt this was a somewhat chaotic read.
The story covers various scenes of trauma and drama with no underlying connection other than occurring in or around the town of Jupiter, Kentucky. It is presented like little vignettes. The POV jumps around sometimes making it confusing as to who is saying/thinking what. Many of the story lines feel like I’m missing the first part of their histories.
There is one couple whose relationship is further developed into a romance. But I did not find the romance credible. Wiley and Linette go on a date only for it to be hijacked by 2 of Wiley’s ex-dates. Linette leaves in a huff. Then Wiley and Linette are involved in a bank robbery where Wiley is shot. Suddenly, their near death experience has them back together again. Yet after about 3 dates Wiley is proposing? Where is the getting to know you stage?
The last half of this story is about Wiley and Ava, his long lost half sister. Wiley’s father had an extra marital affair. Because the mistress needs to get rid of her 7 yr old daughter, Ava, she tries to blackmail Wiley’s brother for child support. Instead, Wiley steps in and claims guardianship of Ava. He has already proposed to Linette who has accepted yet he doesn’t consult with her? Nor does he introduce Ava to Linette until after a family (Wiley’s immediate family) introduction party. Linette wasn’t even invited to this party!
This book was a miss for me.
As the fourth book in the Jubilee series, this was surprisingly my favorite! Immediately this book is fast paced and drops you right into the story. Linette Elgin, a skilled nurse is forced to accept the protection from officer Pope Wiley. Tensions high with their existing past and failed dating attempt years prior. Overall, the story was great, fast pace, lots of action with equal amount of romance. Because this is book for I especially enjoy the site characters and the overall vibes of the entire town. I will be sad when the series ends.
Left Behind by Sharon Sala. Jubilee, Kentucky #4. 3.5 stars
This is another Pope Brother book and it is Wiley’s turn. Officer Wiley Pope was having a routine day when he runs right into a bank robbery. Shots are fired and criminals apprehended and Wiley ends up going to the hospital. While this book started off with a bang, the intensity did not continue. It became a book about a found family, with a focus on Wiley Pope. I found this book slow at times but an enjoyable read. B.J. Is the only single Pope brother left and I wonder who will be his “other half”.
Thank you Netgalley and Sourcebooks Casablanca for this ARC.
