Our family takes part in historic reenacting, including the Civil War era, and we are also homeschoolers, so I was interested in the premise of this book. I had hoped for more voices from the actual folks who lived it. A good read, but a little dry.

Very interesting reading the words of actual people who lived during the civil war. It was interesting and gave me some information from actual people not just historians. I do recommend it.
