In the vein of the other How to Catch books, How to Catch a Fairy Godmother is another cute addition. The art is fun and well done. The story itself is captivating. My students will be looking forward to this addition to the school collection.

How does one go about catching a fairy? I might have a secret weapon as I have a corgi which, according to ancient lore, was the favored mount of fairies. These children don't have a corgi, though, just their wits. Besides, the Fairy Godmother, whose face we actually don't see until the very end, seems to travel in her very own bubble, so no corgis needed. Cool, huh? She's brand new at her job and, based on the illustrations of her fairy training days, is occasionally a bit of a mess. She has smarts, however, and genuinely seems to care about her young, creative charges, even praising some of their efforts to catch her. She also seems to have patience and a fun sense of humor, both handy when dealing with children. In other words, this Fairy Godmother sounds like someone we'd all like on our side.

This is a fun, whimsical story. Not only is it likely young readers can have fun following the children's failed attempts to capture the fairy, but they're likely to be able to spy something new in the pictures each time the story is read or read to them. The rhymes flow and the expressions on the children's faces add to the sense of fun. I liked that the diverse bunch included a child wearing glasses. Having spent much of my childhood in despair over having the wear glasses, he pretty quickly became my favorite. And, hey, this is no fairy tale fairy. She's wearing sneakers! Nice touch.

Bottom line, this is my first "How to Catch..." book but won't be my last. The sense of whimsy and fun made me smile as I read. It's even up-to-date as the children's goal is to capture the fairy in a selfie, never mind they don't grasp what actually capturing her might mean. They simply focus on the ideal Show-and-Tell selfie. Their schemes are fun, meaning no harm, and, who knows, with a less savvy fairy might have been successful. What does one do with a fairy if they catch them? Hmm, no clue. In any case, this Fairy Godmother begins the story a bit unsure of herself, a fun way to remind children that we're all uncertain about some things, but does her best with humor and doesn't forget to applaud others' efforts. She even rewards them at the end, which is when we get our first look at her face. I like this Fairy Godmother. Fun book/series and can't wait to explore it further.

How to Catch a Fairy Godmother by Alice Walstead. I love the How to Catch series of books. The books are so much fun to read. The words are funny. The pictures are bright and colorful. I love showing the books to my almost four year old granddaughter.

How to Catch a Fairy Godmother is another book in the popular and fun How to Catch series of children’s books.

This one unfortunately did not hit the mark. The rhymes are fine but the story is not one that really engaged my toddler. He was not particularly interested in the story, the illustrations, or the phonics.

We love the how to catch books! My 6 year old and 3 year old loved this new one. They love fairies and thought it was so funny when the fairy had fluff all over her dress. This series is fun and silly and really entertains the kids.

My kids all love the "How to catch a" books and this one is now one of their favorites! The fairy godmother being nervous and unsure of starting something new is a great way to show kids that it is ok to be nervous about things. The overall story is just great and one my kids will want to read over and over.

How to Catch a Fairy Godmother is a wonderful addition to the How to Catch a… series. The story is about a Fairy Godmother who is unsure of her abilities and how children attempt to catch the Fairy Godmother. The book had my daughters giggling. Perfect for Elementary School ages. The Illustrations are vibrant and pull the reader into the story.

I would rate this book a 5/5.

I cannot wait for the release of the book to add it to our shelves.

This was a fun and magical read with my little ones. The rhyming pattern flows great and is very engaging. The kids loved the whimsical illustrations and the magical feel. The page had bolded words to help with some early recognition/reading which is an awesome too! Super fun one! Thank you so much for this ARC!

As a former teacher, there are several things that I love about this book. First of all, teachers can talk about the rhyming words on each page. Next, there is a word on every page that is in bold print which is perfect for discussing vocabulary and the text feature: bold print. Lastly, there are many onomatopoeia words throughout the story. What a perfect book to use in an elementary classroom!

How to Catch a Fairy Godmother is a funny story about kids trying to trap a fairy godmother. The illustrations were so vibrant and detailed, and the story was easy to read.

Really cute read. My daughter and I have read all the books in this series that have came out. They are always super cute and enjoyable to read.

This one started out a little different from the others in this series. But as always it was cute and enjoyable. The illustrations and schemes of the children are amazing and fun to look at

This wasn't my favorite. We've read some of the others in this series and I enjoyed them a little more. This one was kind of lackluster. My three year old wasn't particularly into it either.

These How to Catch A _____ books are so fun! They are bright and colorful. Love the rhyming. Our little one enjoyed listening to How to Catch a Fairy Godmother and loved the pictures!

Another entertaining and pleasing addition to the "How To Catch" series. My Elementary School Media Center has Walstead's entire series on our shelves, and they are always in demand. Can't wait to add this latest to our collection.
The Fairy Godmother is playing hard to catch. Through rhyming and appealing language, she sets out to evade her young captors but always in a non-confrontational and patient way. The illustrations are vivid and bold and the story fun. What a treat for young readers!

The How to Catch series is a great one for early readers. The story is engaging and the rhyming makes the story flow. It is great that the Fairy Godmother does not get mad at the children trying to catch her but applauds their teamwork and good ideas.

This is a Children's book that I read to my twin boys, and this is part of the How to Catch series. I have read several of the How to Catch children's books. This was a super cute and fun book to read. My boys really enjoyed this book, and the pictures are super bright and fun which makes the story come to life. I received an ARC of this book. This review is my own honest opinion about the book like all my reviews are.
