This was a little too formulaic and parts were unbelievable. There weren’t any characters in this book that are likable.
The ending was too neatly tied up and everyone was able to go on with their lives. I haven’t read the first two books but I feel like this 3rd book might be pushing this storyline and character too far.

Very similar to the other housemaid books. The book was overall ok but not the best mystery book out there. If you enjoy Frieda and don't mind all of her books being the same, then I would Encourage you to read it. If you are over Frieda then I would Suggest skipping it.

Freida does it again! She is a masterful thriller writer. I'll admit, at first, it started off slow and then slowly I got more intrigued in part one. Millie's life has really changed as a wife and mom, so it's good to see her evolve as she got older. When Millie started to have problems with Nico, I suspected that he committed the act. I was completely shocked to find out who it really was. I also didn't know if I could truly believe Enzo or not, but; Freida is great at painting the perfect picture that everyone is not what they seem. If you've read any of the Housemaid series (or any of Freida's books) you know that there is always a shocking revelation in the last few chapters, and this one is no exception. If you want a book that's going to play with all of your emotions, this is it! You're in for a wild, but thrilling ride.

I appreciated receiving the early opportunity to read McFadden’s third Housemaid novel. I read the other two also and found them entertaining, but more like madcap satires of mysteries than true crime thrillers or police procedurals, my preferred genres. In fact, I classify these as Women’s Fiction, not Mystery and Suspense. But I read it anyway, and got really tired of the caricature portrayal of the neighbor women. Then when the murder was finally presented, I didn’t think the plot held together well. The way she described Mr. Lowell’s strange behavior wasn’t very clear. I wasn’t wowed by the author’s formulaic turnaround twist, though it was unexpected. All said though, fans will likely love this.

Freida McFadden’s next installment in the Housemaid series is another twisty, fast moving thriller that can also be read as a stand alone.

The main character, Millie, from The Housemaid series is back now living with family in the suburbs. When Millie and her family move into their dream house on a quiet residential street, she feels like she is finally in a safe place. But with their nosy neighbor and controlling parent Janice on one side and overly friendly neighbors Suzette and Jonathan on the other, the neighborhood is not as perfect as it seems. Millie’s children stumble upon a hidden room, the new maid is creepily staring at her and Millie is sure she hears scratching from inside the house in the middle of the night. As Millie and her husband Enzo struggle with the financial stretch of owning this home, the whole family begins to wonder if it was the right move.

McFadden’s writing propels the story and the many twists and turns will keep the reader guessing. I thought I knew the ending half way through and was sure I saw the twist coming but I was wrong! Fans of Liv Constantine’s The Last Mrs Parish will love The Housemaid is Watching.

Thanks to Poison Pen Press and NetGalley for the advanced reader’s copy.

I don't even think I need to review this - just give it another 5 stars like I always do for Freida! All 3 books in this series were excellent and I tore through them.

I was looking forward to reading The Housemaid is Watching after reading the previous two books in the series. This could be read as a stand alone also but is better to read the other two titles in the Housemaid series to get the full story. I read this book in one sitting as I wanted to find out what would happen next. I would thoroughly recommend this book and I do hope that there is another one to follow on with the story. A great read. Thank you.

Everything Frieda McFadden puts out, I absolutely devour!! Love, love, LOVE her! I don’t know what she puts in her books that makes me unable to put them down, but WOAH I loved this!

I really do love the Housemaid series and this one in particular had the wit that I love. That being said, I found it quite a slow start and I was really hoping for that McPhadden oomph she always brings and I just found it lacking. It tied up nicely, as always, but I was never at the edge of my seat. It got me out of my reading slump and it was modestly “okay.”

I would like to thank NetGalley and Poisoned Pen Press for allowing me to read an ARC of this book.

I am a recent Freida McFadden convert, and have read a decent number of her books, including the other two books in the Housemaid series. While not required reading for this one, as The Housemaid is Watching can be read as a standalone, the other two books do provide helpful background details and information on Millie and her prior experiences. But WOW! This 3rd book is phenomenal! I absolutely loved it (possibly even more than the first one, which was my favorite).

The Housemaid is Watching opens with Millie and her family moving into a new house. There's new neighbors, and a new housemaid to get to know, but it seems like everyone is acting weird or hiding something. The people next door to Millie -- Suzette and Jonathan -- are a bit too perfect which is a red flag, and the other lady, Janice is super nosey. Add in some houses with creepy secret rooms, and a cleaning lady that is stealing stuff and you've got a perfect storm for chaos....and murder. But the true identity of the murderer (and their motives) may surprise you. Because looks can be deceiving and not everyone is who they seem, and all secrets have consequences.

This book was SOOOO GOOD!! A slow burn with a tense build-up to the big reveal. I was SHOCKED! If you are a fan of thrillers you need to read this one. You won't be able to put it down! I will definitely be recommending this one to my book clubs.

As much as I adore Freida McFadden’s novels, I don’t think sequels are her best suit.

The Housemaid Is Watching just felt too much like her previous novels in the series, and I feel that McFadden has downplayed Millie’s characterization. In The Housemaid, Millie is fantastic and you are left enthralled by her. By now, in the third installment, Millie’s character had no substance and just contributed according to the plot. I’m still a huge fan of McFadden, and I will be in the look out for more of her novels, but this one was not her best work.

Wow, another great psychological thriller from this author. Some great twists and turns you’ll never see coming throughout this story.

Had a hard time following the storyline of this third book in the Housemaid series because the story was further in the characters life. Spoiler alert- you'll understand the title at the end of the book!

The third installment of the Housemaid series in my opinion is just as good as the rest. Freida McFadden has this amazing ability to give you twist after twist until your eyeballs are swimming!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

“Of course Mom is going to say to use your words, and Dad is going to hand me a big knife.”

I’m kind of addicted to Millie.
Literally nothing compares to the first book… that was off the charts amazing! But I enjoyed this book, seeing Millie in a “normal” life setting with her family. I liked the change in time and focus. We see her as a mom and her relationship with her husband Enzo. Her family moves into a new house and their neighbors are absolutely insane. I mean one keeps her kid on a leash right up to him walking onto the school bus and the other neighbor cant keep her hands off Enzo! I didn’t want to guess the ending—I was so sure I knew the twist and the end. And I was wrong both times, which I love!! I looked forward to reading it everyday. @Freida Mcfadden, keep those housemaid books coming please!!! You are the queen of the domestic thriller!
Thank you NetGalley for the ARC!!

The Housemaid is Watching is the third installment in the Housemaid series by Freida McFadden. I am a big fan of her books and was not disappointed by this newest release.
Milie and Enzo now have two kids and are moving out of their tiny Bronx apartment to the suburbs. They found a house that is slightly out of budget, but they got it below the asking price and are willing to make it work.. However, as soon as they move in, things start to feel a little off. First, Millie is pretty sure that she has seen someone watching their house from a window across the street. Next, she begins hearing a scratching noise in the middle of the night that she swears is coming from inside the house. Then their children start acting strange, and she thinks it's more than just them adjusting to the move.
I don't want to give away any major plot points, but I will say there’s another case of false accusations. Millie must unravel the stories swirling around. As is usually the case in Freida McFadden's books, things are never what they seem.
I can't stop recommending Freida McFadden's books to everyone who listens to me. They pull you in from the first sentence. The setup is great, the characters are adorable, and the twists have you puzzling for half the book before you find out what's really going on. I hope this book is made into a movie, and I can't wait to watch it.

The Housemaid is Watching by Frieda McFadden is a great end to the Housemaid series. Not only do why get to see where Millie and Enzos' relationship is years after getting together, we also get to know their children. At the same time, we are introduced to a new set of characters, which are the family's new neighbors after their recent move. I don't want to accidentally give any spoilers away, so I will just say that this one will keep you on the edge of your seat!

I’m forever a Freida fan girl, McFan, Freidah Readah…I was elated to get a jump start on “The Housemaid is Watching” and absolutely love the other two in this series. To say it’s the perfect campfire read is an understatement. I stayed up all night devouring every page to get to Freida’s signature twist. Slow-burn and then a surge of what-the-crazy explosion of text. I need a fourth book now! You’ll want to read this with your book club, by the pool, and on your next camping trip. I can’t wait to get my physical copy to add to my bookshelf.

I am reeling! I just finished this third and final Housemaid book. Of course, with any series, not every book will be equally enjoyable, so I kept my expectations fairly low for this one. I shouldn’t have, though, because it was more than I could have hoped for!
Freida McFadden approaches the third installment very differently from the first two, and creatively so. Millie and Enzo are now eleven years into their marriage and parenting, attempting to achieve a normal life after all they have been through together.
I feel that this book really works because many readers are invested in these characters. McFadden has done a wonderful job bringing us to where the characters are now.
On all fronts, I found this book excellent. The pacing was well-timed. I have already mentioned the likable characters, but I will add that I enjoyed how this story focused a lot more on Enzo. Some of the twists and surprises were more satisfying than others. Overall, I deem this last Housemaid novel one that neatly and entertainingly wraps up the trilogy.
Thank you to NetGalley and Poisoned Pen Press for the advance copy!
