I was very excited to read the 3rd Housemaid book. I thought this book lacked in twists that Freida has become know as. I was happy that Millie and Enzo ended up together, but thought that having her daughter be the one to stab the neighbor was unbelievable. The only shocking part of that was that she tried to make us believe Nico had more problems.
The third book in Freida McFadden's Millie the Maid series is an addictive and riveting read. I would have read it in one sitting, but wound up doing it in 2 because I had to go to work or sleep. lol. The story starts with the couple moving to Long Island, where Millie and Enzo are married and have two children. Millie is excited to make new friends but faces challenges from her neighbors, who flirt with her husband and hire their neighbor's maid Martha. Millie's family members keep secrets from her, and she must decide whether to move to a neighborhood where murder is expected. The book is highly rated, with ten stars, and I encourage readers to add it to their reading list. I hope Freida McFadden continues writing more Millie the Maid sequels to satisfy all of her loyal readers' cravings and hope to see more installments in the series. NetGalley and Poisoned Pen Press provided the digital reviewer copy of the book.
I’ve now read every Freida McFadden book I could get my hands on. Plus I’ve preordered her book (The Boyfriend) which won’t be published for several months. NetGalley gave me the opportunity to read this third novel in the Housemaid series and I’m so grateful . Every page of this one had me riveted! And Freida’s Epilogue surprised me as it always does.
Oh my goodness! Quick confession: I didn’t expect to love the third book so much, but it exceeded all my expectations! It's far better than the second book; I couldn’t put it down. I even canceled my appointment with my accountant, even though I have taxes to do. Who cares about taxes when there's such an amazing book to read? Okay, it's wrong to say something like that as a law-abiding, mature citizen, but come on, this book is incredibly good. I found myself wanting to stop time just to peacefully read my advance copy!
What can I say to rest my case! The adventures of Millie the maid are the definition of addiction! I know I can find hundreds of people like me (maybe thousands) who, once they start one of her books, they cannot stop! It’s more addictive than Pringles! It’s riveting page-turners! It’s my favorite guilty pleasure!
Her new adventure takes us 11 years later where we left things with Millie and Enzo. Now they’re older, married, having two kids; one A grader, sensitive, mature, smart daughter Ava, and a friendly, energetic, sporty 9-year-old Nico, named after Enzo’s family members. Their luck turned out, and their offer for the house has gotten approval which means they are about to be suburbanites, living in ( correction living "ON") Long Island.
Millie is jumping in excitement to build a new life in a big house she still has questions about how they bought under its value even though they have to work harder to pay the mortgage. She is also excited to make new friends with her neighbors but unfortunately one of her neighbors cannot keep her hands off her husband, shamelessly flirting with him as the other woman who is health-obsessed and also a noisy busybody who likes to watch each step she takes from her house and make her uncomfortable. In addition to that, Enzo makes a jest to hire their neighbor’s maid Martha: the same woman she keeps giving her scrutinizing looks as if she knows her criminal dark past.
Could Millie make the worst mistake by moving to this neighborhood where her neighbors act like she’s mud under their boot to scratch, her children keep acting like strangers and her husband might be too friendly with Suzette Lowell: their flirty neighbor next door? At the top of that somebody gets murdered as expected. Because where Millie goes, there should be murder, shouldn’t be? How will she save herself and her family without getting involved? What her family members keep hidden from her?
Well: didn’t I say how much I loved this book that I should scream at the rooftops kind of! I'm about to give this book ten stars which highly deserved! Don’t forget to add this book to your reading list. Who am I kidding? Just order your copy and dive in blindfolded! Satisfaction guaranteed!
Oh boy, I hope Freida McFadden keeps writing more Millie the Maid sequels to feed my cravings! I never get enough of this series!
Many thanks to NetGalley and Poisoned Pen Press for sharing the digital reviewer copy of the most anticipated thriller of the year in exchange for my honest opinions which I truly appreciate!
Freida McFadden's latest offering proves once again why she is a master of her craft. "The Housemaid is watching" immediately seized my attention from the opening page, pulling me into its captivating world. McFadden's storytelling prowess shines through, weaving a tapestry of intrigue and suspense that kept me eagerly turning pages. With each twist and turn, the narrative deepened, revealing layers of complexity and depth. As a fan of McFadden's previous works, I was not disappointed; her signature style and attention to detail are present throughout, making this installment a true masterpiece.
Again, I could not put down a Freida McFadden book. The plot twists and keep you guessing was next level in this book!
This is my first read by Freida McFadden. I already plan to go back and read the first two books in the series.
Mille has a past that she's not proud of.
Enzo has a past that Millie thinks she knows about, but is surprised to learn that the man she's been married to for eleven years has secrets too. Of course, secrets can only stayed buried for so long....and Enzo's past comes back to haunt him when Jonathan Lowell is found dead. Was Enzo having an affair with Suzette Lowell? Did he kill Jonathan?
But, the Lowells had secrets too....ones that would tarnish the high class image beyond repair.
And, the overprotective neighbor, Janice is always watching....or at least she thinks she is...someone knows what really happened....
The Housemaid Is Watching is a much anticipated thriller that did not disappoint when I read it. The humor added in was a great touch. I will not look at nude lipstick again without thinking of this book.
If you loved the first two in the series, don't hesitate to grab this one!
Millie and Enzo have purchased a new house in a small cul-de-sac. On the day they move in, with two kids in tow, they meet an overly flirtatious neighbor and her seemingly patsy husband, and they glimpse a withdrawn, but nosy, neighbor from behind the curtains. As these three families get to know each other, mysteries are discovered, secrets are withheld, and a murder leaves everyone a suspect!
Freida McFadden does it again! Another page turner that leaves you wondering right up to the end. There are a couple of twists in this story, so if you have you have it all figured out, keep reading!
Note: This is book three of a series, but it reads well as a standalone. I have not read the first two, but this book was great even without the prior reading experience.
Thanks to NetGalley and Sourcebooks for the ARC.
This is the first book I have read in this series and it definitely won’t be the last! Millie is an interesting character that captured my interest right from the start. All the characters in the book were well developed with their own secrets. Every twist and turn in the story was not what I expected. Millie and her handsome husband Enzo were new to the cul-de-sac and drew the immediate attention of the neighbors especially those in the house next door. Great writing kept me engaged throughout! Now I need to backtrack and read the first two! #TheHousemaidIsWatching #FreidaMcFadden #NetGalley
_The Housemaid is Watching_ by Freida McFadden is an engrossing, psychological thriller with plot twists that will keep the reader guessing. Years later from the second book in the _The Housemaid_ series, Millie is married with two children and has just moved in to their dream house. Soon Millie discovers it may not be as ideal as she hoped, with strange neighbors and happenings in the house. While this is the third book in the series, it also can be a standalone book.
Freida's books are compulsively readable. This story follows characters from "The Housemaid". Millie and Enzo buy a home in a neighborhood that they can scarcely afford, but do it for their children and to get out of the city. They overlook strange and snooty neighbors until they are caught up in something they cannot get themselves out of. The twist in this story comes earlier than her other stories, but it is still so good!
Thank you NetGalley and Sourcebooks for letting me read an advance copy of this book. I thought this was a good story. Great twists and turns.
This book kept me on my toes and every time I had it figured out it flipped on it's head. I couldn't put it down and the ending blew me away.
Wowza! I did not see all the twists and turns coming in this book! I loved the multiple viewpoints throughout the story. Aside, from The Housemaid #1 this might be my favorite in the series! I hope that there is another Housemaid book in the future. Thanks to Netgalley for the advance e-copy!
This is once again an amazing book by Freida McFadden in the Housemaid series. I highly recommend to readers that love a good suspense. Kudos!
Perfect for those who loved the other books in the Housemaid series. Although it can be read as a stand alone, I'd recommend reading the other first to understand their backgrounds. Will be recommending as a good summer pick!
I absolutely loved this!!! She did a phenomenal job on this one. Again I was guessing the entire way through the book!! Can’t get enough.
Secrets, secrets and misinterpretations are the theme of this book. You think you know your neighbors, your spouse and your children, but do you? No one suspects the real murderer and the reader wouldn’t know until the last chapter.
I flew through this book ! At the tiime of reading, I didn't realize it was Number 3 of the series. It actually worked as a stand alone read.
However, after throughly enjoying this book, I went on to read The Housemaid and The Housemaid's secret. All very enjoyable.
