This was the first book I read by Freida McFadden, I loved it! I found it a quick read, and a great story. I will read additional books by this author again!

This was a riveting thriller about a girl torn between her boyfriend and best friend. Who actually tried to kill her? The memory is not clear. But after years, she is forced to confront the circumstances. It was edge of your seat excitement. I thoroughly enjoyed this book.

Thank you to NetGalley and Freida McFadden for allowing me to read this book in exchange for my review.

4 stars!! As always with Frieda books, this was a wild and entertaining ride! Love that her books are so easy to fly through. I did waver between the two MMCs the entire book, which I imagine is the intent. I did guess a few small parts of the reveal but that did not bother me too much. I usually try to enjoy the ride without guessing much in my thrillers. If something comes to me while reading, it is what it is. The only thing that bothered me in this book (which is rare for me) is how frustrating the main character was. I often expect dumb frustrating MCs in my thrillers, but wow -- this one was a bit much for me. You literally had red flags blatantly thrown in your face and you (especially as a mom) ignored them. That was just beyond me. But, overall, another great Frieda read. She is an auto-buy author for me!

My first Freida McFadden book!

What I loved:
1. It was a fast-paced thriller!
2. While a thriller - it was entertaining
3. Loved the ending!

What I didn't like:
1. The female lead is more than frustrating and just too innocent for the experience she has had.

Many thanks to Net Galley and the Hollywood Upstairs Press for providing an arc.

I love Freida more and more after I read her books! The way she seamlessly threads the plot and the characters together makes her work amazing. I started reading this booking thinking I knew what was going to happen and was completely given a 180 with the plot twist! If you like mystery thrillers you should definitely check out her books!

ARC Read: This was my first Freida McFadden book. I expected a lot of twists from reviews of her other books, and this one definitely twisted. A little predictable if you know there’s twists going in, but entertaining enough overall for what I expected of it, which was a light beach-read suspense novel. Finished in less than 2 days and I’ll probably pick up other books by this author when I’m looking for quick, easy suspense/thrill reads. The formatting sucked in this and I’m not sure if it’s because it’s an ARC or just the way it was published overall. There’s multiple places where you can’t tell where a new paragraph starts, or when a new character begins talking. Also could have used a little more editing overall as the main character needlessly repeats herself in the same sentence or two. I’d recommend this for people just getting back into reading or looking for something that doesn’t take too much brain power to follow.

This book was absolutely insane. I put this book off for so long and avoided it because I wasn't sure if I would enjoy it based off of other reviews I have heard about it. And although the fmc did get on my everlasting nerve and give me concerns about how many brain cells she had, I enjoyed the book more than I thought I would because the plot and twists were amazing. I literally did not know who to trust. McFadden did her thing once again.

Thank you so much to Poisoned Pen Press and Freida McFadden for this eARC in exchange for my honest review!

3.5

The synopsis sounded good and in the beginning I enjoyed the story flipping from the present and what happened eleven years ago. However, as the story was progressing it started to feel extremely repetitive. While I was still constantly thinking about the different outcomes the author seemed to keep mentioning the same details over and over to the point where the reader becomes annoyed. The ending was somehow predictable but also one that many might not guess. It’s clear which movies the author used inspiration from. Again, I have trouble rating this one because on one hand I rushed to read it to see if my thoughts were correct. But does that necessarily mean it was a good book? I don’t think so. The writing is basic and the story itself just didn’t work for me. I wouldn’t recommend this book. If you’re a thriller fan there are better ones out there.

This was not my favorite Frieda McFadden book. The plot twists were mostly expected. The way the main character fell in love so easily and had blind faith in each of the men in her life was not very believable. The final chapter was a bit of a surprise, but given the bloodline, it was not totally unexpected, especially with the previous foreshadowing in the book. I didn’t hate it, but I also didn’t love it.

The main character made me want to scream, especially the last 25% or so. And the plot twists??? 🤯 The start was just a slow buildup but again that last 25% -- it was one twist after another! 5 stars.

Freida McFadden, the queen of twists and turns has written a book about Brooke, who has a son with Shane, who is incarcerated for life for three murders he insisted he didn't do.

Brooke is now dating Tim, her best friend, and who also testified against Shane. However, was it Tim who was the actual killer? While this storyline seems ripe for an exciting mystery, I felt the "who did it part" was just a loop of me asking the same question over and over. Who did it, as opposed to advancing the storyline.

The inmate is my least favorite Fredia McFadden book. She has so many great books. I guess one miss is unavoidable

This is my first review in months, and it’s for the first Freida McFadden book I've read. Safe to say, it won't be my last! I found this book fast-paced and thoroughly engaging from start to finish. The story seamlessly shifts between the present timeline and flashbacks, which adds to the intrigue.

I really enjoyed Freida's writing style. If you go with the flow and don’t overanalyze, this book is incredibly entertaining. The twist was decent, though it didn’t leave a lasting impact on me. Was it worth reading? Absolutely! The story is straightforward, and the characters are easy to understand. If you're in the mood for a lightweight thriller, this is definitely one to pick up.

What a ride!! Freida McFadden is a name we have all been hearing everywhere so I had to see what the hype was about and couldn’t resist this title. The twists continue until the very last line. I kept going back and forth with my theories and I still had it wrong!

Wow. Another book full of twists and turns. Just when you think you have it all figured out, Frieda throws another curveball.

Brooke survives a terible trauma, and just when she thinks she had the truth figured out, her past come back. Well, she returns to her hometown and puts herself in the path of man he she sent to prison for trying to kill her. As time passes and her memory runs amuck. Did he really try to kill her, or was it the boy she thought was her friend and the man that she found love in again.

Started strong but then the end lost it for me. I appreciate a good twist, but at least drop some hints along the way. The epilogue was great.
