This was a cute novel, but ultimately didn't hold my attention like other Roni Loren novels have. It's sort of the same as the first novel with different characters. I liked seeing Rebecca's story and love the theme of these 4 survivors brought together by tragedy and fulfilling their dreams despite their trauma.

I wish I had known this was a 2nd book of a series before I read this because I seemed to have struggled a little bit. I typically like to read series from start to finish, so I’ll def be going back and reading. Overall, I thought this was an ok story! I’ll go back and listen to it after reading the first book!

3.5✨

Rebecca is a survivor. She has endured the unthinkable. Wes is a troubled man looking for a way to make things right. In this romance fiction novel by Roni Loren, two people are thrown together in an unforgettable way. Through thick and thin, this couple will make you want to stay up all night just to see what happens next.

Well this was a very interesting read. Wes, who is having a hard time helped Rebecca, a lawyer who helped his ex divorce him. These two got together when an unfortunate event happened and Wes stepped up and helped Rebecca. I loved this story and reading their story and watching their love bloom.

This is actually book number 2 in the series and I wish that I had read the first book. I will definitely be going back and reading book 1. What I liked about this book was the chemistry (swoon) . The fact it had my favourite trope second chances was also added bonus.

I didn't knwo that this was the second book in a series. I haven't read the first book and I struggled a bit to get through the book. I don't know if the reason for that is because I haven't read the first one or if it's something else. I enjoyed reading it but it wasn't a favorite of mine. I will definitely try to read the first book and come back to this one later!

Thank you Netgalley and SOURCEBOOKS Casablanca for this arc.

First, I will choose not to be offended that Ms. Loren is calling out workaholic boss babes. I loved the fact that she didn't shame our main character into becoming less of a boss or less of a workaholic, just because she found a partner or to cater to the MMC's feelings about their previous connection.

This second chance romance had a bit of a fated mates feel when the second time they met was a coincidental encounter. Throughout the book, Rebecca really struggles with the school shooting she survived and her own guilt surrounding it. Wes deals with feelings of failure and inferiority, but learns to assign those feelings to the true causes. The growth of these two characters, both individually and together, feels so authentic and healthy!

I do kind of hate that I've just discovered this is a re-release, not an original release.

The One You Can't Forget ☾𖤓
by Roni Loren
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 5/5 stars

I loved this book! Rebecca, a top lawyer with a traumatic past, and Wes, a chef turned teacher after hitting rock bottom, come together in an unexpected way. Wes saves Rebecca during a mugging, and their connection just clicks. The story dives deep into tough topics but balances it with great characters and a touching romance. The way Wes interacts with his students and Rebecca’s strength are standout elements. It’s a powerful read about overcoming the past and finding love. Highly recommend!

I really enjoy this series, it is such a tough subject to write about and the author does a fabulous job of making such beautiful love come out of it. I do think you would benefit from reading the first book prior to reading this one to get a better feel of the background and characters.

Rebecca is a successful lawyer, expecting to make partner at her dad’s firm. She was also injured in a high school shooting, still having flashbacks. Wes is a chef, divorced and afterwards became an alcoholic, went to rehab, lost his dream restaurant, and ended up teaching high school troubled teens how to cook. Going home one night Rebecca was robbed by teens and rescued by a mutt. The dog ended up getting shot and Wes rushed to help her. I enjoyed the teens loved and nourished by Wes. He was a lot like them and knew how to treat them. Rebecca was strong and I liked how she fought to do the right thing even going against her dad. There are a lot of lessons about topics having grey areas, people needing to communicate, and taking chances on love. Great book with wonderful characters.

3 stars! I did struggle to get through this book at times but overall I enjoyed Rebecca and Wes’ story! Watching them navigate life after losses and helping each other through it. This could be read as a stand alone although it’s listed as #2 in the “series”. Thanks NetGalley for the ARC!

The One You Can't Forget by Roni Loren broke my heart in the best possible way and then got the pieces together. I cannot imagine anyone more deserving of second chance and redemption that Rebecca and Wes. They met at a particularly desperate and depressed point of both their lives. Their worlds couldn't be any more different but they were bound by their heartache and love resurrected their broken hearts. It's a story of survival, hope and new beginning.

Trigger warning: Rebecca is survivor of a school shooting and there are heavy mention of PTSD and other mental health issues. Rebecca has fought hard to win her demons and she is a successful divorce lawyer in her politically influential father's farm..on way to become partner. But she has deep scars. She keeps herself together by willpower and avoidance. The mugging attempt shook her and Wes caught her in a vulnerable state. Now they have a complicated past. Rebecca was the lawyer who helped his ex wife to take away everything. He lost his dream, his restaurant, his mind to addiction..Now he is just a cooking teacher in a poorly funded after school programme. Rebecca was so ashamed and hurt when he told how his ex wife framed him. But it wasnt the guilt that pushed her want to spend time with him or help the kids at school with the food truck funding. It was the all consuming attraction and his charm and sweetness balanced with c0ckiness. But she was so scared. Because she still blames her for the past. Because she feels she doesn't deserve love. Because she thinks no one will stay.

Kudos to Wes for not holding onto the anger and bitterness and give Rebecca a space in his life. He has his own demons. He has nothing to lose. But Rebecca gave him hope. She gave his dreams back. He didn't judge Rebecca. When she exposed her bitter truths, he stood strongly by her side. He didn't think he can fall in love again. But against all odds, he fell for the feisty and sassy lawyer. He could feel her bleeding heart behind the straight and hard exterior. It took a lot of effort for Rebecca to forget her past and trust Wes. She was so afraid to get hurt and terrified of disappointing Wes. Finally, a devastating incident that brought back the horrors of their past. It forced them to face their trauma in a new way so that they could let go of pain and surrender to love. Roni Loren delivered intense emotions with beautiful depth in every page of the story. And don't forget the spice.

While I did enjoy this book, I didn't absolutely love it.
I enjoyed the plot and Bec's growth journey as well as Wes's and their journey to their HEA. I do think I would have enjoyed it a lot more had I read the first book in the series but none the less it wasn't a terrible book at all and my rating is more of a 3.5 than a 3.

The One you can't forget. Another brilliant read by a talented Author. The story of Rebecca and Wes is totally identifiable and relatable. You can't help but to care and root for them. Their sexual chemistry is a slow until it burns through the pages. This is a must read.

This book was absolutely 𝘣𝘳𝘪𝘭𝘭𝘪𝘢𝘯𝘵!

Rebecca was the one who got away. When several friends and peers were killed at prom during a shooting, she survived. Should she have though? Her secrets from that night/school year were eating her alive. Did she cause that traumatic event and cause the death of her peers and teachers?

Enter: Wes Garret. Rebecca was being mugged at gunpoint when this “stranger” jumped in and saved her. He was in the process of getting his own life back on track after losing everything to his ex-wife in court. His ex-wife’s attorney had been none other than Rebecca. She helped ruin him. Would Wes ever be able to look past that and forgive her? Rebecca gave Wes an unbelievable opportunity that would make it hard for him to 𝙣𝙤𝙩 forgive her. She offered to give him the dream that she once stripped him of and the rest was history. These two were absolutely swoon-worthy and I loved them!

It is very few, and far between that I will read a romance novel, and when I do, it has to have a solid storyline. This one did, and its delivery was powerful and emotional. This was a great story of survivor's guilt and the inner turmoil it causes. The love story involved was done well, but some aspects of it were a bit repetitive in stating the differences between the two main characters and their social standing. The topics here ran deep and conveyed such strong emotions through its pages. This was a beautifully written story about two broken people coming together and overcoming their pasts. Four solid stars.

Thank you, Netgalley and Sourcebooks Casablanca, for this ARC.

Roni Loren is such an underappreciated author. Her stories are fantastic, gripping and heartfelt. The One You Can't Forget is fantastic and I highly recommend checking it out!

To start: I did not realize this was a sequel, and there were parts that I felt like I was really missing something. I wish the netgalley summary would have made that clear.

This is a heavy romance. Second chances, characters with big trauma, etc.

It was good. Well-written. I'll go back and read the first so I can understand it all.

Definitely some tw for traumatic themes.

Thanks to NetGalley for this ARC in exchange for a review.

What I really love about Roni Loren's books is that she's not afraid to tackle tough topics. She handles them so well and makes all her characters with all real flaws and issues that they are pushed to overcome without the story becoming preachy and irritating. Wes and Rebecca are such well written characters and their story is fun to read even given the topics at play. I loved their banter and their emotional depth. It made reading them feel more relatable and compelling. I read this book in one sitting because I had to know what happened and how it would all work out!

HER SECRET SHAME: The world knows Rebecca Lindt as a survivor, but that impression would crumble if people discovered her secret…and realized she didn't deserve to be the one who got away. But nothing can change the past, so she's thrown herself into her work. She can't dwell if she never slows down.
HIS UNCERTAIN FUTURE: Wes Garrett is trying to get back on his feet after losing his dream restaurant, his money, and half his damn mind in a vicious divorce. But when he intervenes in a mugging and saves Rebecca—the attorney who helped his ex ruin him—his simple life gets a hell of a lot more complicated.

Roni Loren is a must for me and I really had a grest ing this book.
Although the love story sometimes seemed a little rushed, their backgrounds are full of depth and very intense, you can understand why they both felt their love so natural.
Roni Loren knows her job, she delivers a deeply emotional story but very sexy and even funny sometimes. There’s a secondary story related to a young boy that could have been more developed but overall is a good book.
