Slow burn with Monterran touches

I love all the Monterran touches and references. This is definitely a standalone, but the references to Sariah Wilson's Royal Date are great!

I love Vella! A snarky, sarcastic fairy goth-mother is the perfect balance to the slower burn pace of this book.

Everly's career as an event planner/assistant (let's be real, she's basically an event planner) was so unique and interesting.

This was a closed door read, I'd rate PG-13 for intense kisses.

Party Favors is a delightful romantic comedy that captures the chaos and charm of unexpected love. Sariah Wilson weaves a fun and engaging narrative that keeps readers hooked from start to finish.

The protagonist, a witty and relatable character, finds herself navigating the often tumultuous waters of event planning while dealing with her own personal dilemmas. Wilson’s sharp humor shines through the dialogue, making the characters feel authentic and relatable. The chemistry between the leads is palpable, and their interactions are both sweet and laugh-out-loud funny.

What I particularly enjoyed was how Wilson infused real-life challenges into the story, addressing themes of self-discovery and the importance of community. The supporting characters are well-developed, adding depth and richness to the plot.

The pacing is perfect—each chapter leaves you wanting more, and the climax is both satisfying and heartwarming. Overall, Party Favors is a feel-good read that is perfect for fans of lighthearted romance. It’s a reminder that love can often be found in the most unexpected places

Everly works for an event planning company as an invaluable assistant trying to get that promotion to event planner. She's also obsessed with the Monterran royal family. She finally gets the chance to be lead on an event and it happens to be a Monterran themed birthday party. She's in search of deeper knowledge of Monterran culture when she meets Max Colby, a Monterran in NYC. She promises to be his tour guide if he will help her with the information she needs. Their relationship quickly becomes a deep friendship with potential for more.

This is a cute romance if you're looking for something not too spicy. The characters are so likeable that you're waiting for the other shoe to drop. It's a good happy romance that will give you all the warm fuzzies.

Thank you to NetGalley and Montlake for the ARC of Party Favors.

Party Favors is a fun rom-com with lots of magic but also complications and misunderstanding. Max is too good to be true even with his complications and mistruths, he is still like absolutely perfect and i do wish they would have been able to explore that more after everything was out in the open. I liked Everly because she is so realistic, I absolutely connected with her and her thought process and fears. I enjoyed all of it though and would love to read more.

I like Sariah Wilson’s books, and I especially enjoyed Party Favors.
Everly is a party planner who wants to make a name for herself. Unfortunately, all her work is done for her boss Adrian, who gets the accolades for Everly’s ideas. She finally gets a chance to make her mark by planning a Monterran themed birthday party.
Everly avidly follows the Monterran royal family, down to the clothes they wear. When she gets the opportunity to meet an actual Monterran, she jumps at the chance.
Max has recently returned from Monterra and he and Everly hit it off immediately. He’s not telling her everything about himself but thinks he’s got time. When Everly discovers Max omitted some key details about his identity, she’s furious. Can their relationship survive?
I really liked the characters, and the identity twist wasn’t what I thought it would be! This is an entertaining book, 4 stars.

Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley, I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

Straight up, this book was a struggle for me. I tend to enjoy a good royal rom-com, especially when the royal in question is shrouded in mystery as Max was, AND when there's a sassy roommate/best friend (Vella!), but man, this book draaaaaaaaaagged. I have enjoyed this author's other books, and highly recommend them, but this book was a miss for me. The slow, repetitive pacing of Party Favors, combined with Everly as a really immature female main character, resulted in my not being able to connect with or get into this book at all.

Thank you to Montlake for gifting me with an ARC to review! All opinions are my own.

First thought: A lot of little girls want to grow up and be a princess and find Prince Charming, this book is a love story to that little girl. It is a very sweet & cute read but be warned it is a very slow burn. I liked the party planning aspect a lot it was fun. I would recommend this book if you like any of these tropes.

Everly is a southern girl who grew up watching the royal family of Monterran, she knows she’s not going to marry a prince but she could hope right. She moved to NYC to work as an event planner and she is thriving in all things works. But her social life is another thing, she’s been crushing on her boss. Who just uses her and the final blow was when she helped with errands so he could fly off to propose to his girlfriend. That’s ok Everly will move on, she got an opportunity to lead an event and plan it on her own - this is her time to shine.

Max couldn’t resist a woman in a bar curled up crying with his dog, he didn’t know what drew him to her but he had to go over there. That’s when he found out the women’s an event planner and trying to plan a Monterran theme party. Max so happened to know a thing about that having grown up there, so he offered to help. One thing lead to another and their time sitting at the bar lead to an unlikely friendship.

Could Everly have found more than a friend in Max? Could he secretly be her Monterran Prince she always wanted, it’s hard to tell as she keeps getting mixed signals. You have to read this one to see how it all unfolds.

Literally Themes you’ll find:

* Strangers to Friends to Lovers
* Event Planner x Philanthropist
* Slow Burn
* Based in NYC

I love Sariah Wilson's books because I can always count on a great meet cute, fun friends, witty banter between all the characters and a great storyline that makes you want to keep reading.
Everly is a party planner (corporate) who is itching to plan the over the top, high quality, celebrity style parties that will allow her creative side to really come out. When her company gets the opportunity to make a society girls sweet sixteen one she will remember, Everly is ready for the challenge. As a royal watcher who loves all things Monterra and their royal family, she dives in with this as the theme. Which is how she meets Max, a very handsome gentleman that offers to help her with the details of Monterran culture in exchange for her showing him around NYC as his personal tour guide. I really enjoyed the way these two interacted and loved how their relationship grew throughout.
Sariah Wilson's character and story development make all her books an auto read for me, and this one was no different.

Party Favors was the most adorable happily ever after story. It will give you all of those princess finds her knight in shining armor surrounded by a cute story vibe. If you’re looking for a book that has all the Hallmark feels, add this one to your tbr!

Everly Aprile was so easy to like, even if she thought the world of her d-bag boss, Adrian. But that’s because she had a lot of growing up to do. She definitely made a few mistakes in these pages, but watching how far she came from that first page to the last was beautiful! Also, I loved Everly’s relationship with her roommate Vella. Vella cracked me up with her mannerisms and words. I loved how she was so tough on the exterior, but then a big ol marshmallow when it came to Everly.

During a chance meeting, when Everly was extremely low, she met Max Colby. And Max was suave and charming to say the least. From there a friendship formed that was heartwarming. Especially since Max was such a good guy that was sigh worthy. He was protective, caring, thoughtful and I loved how kind he was to Everly. Their interactions were adorable, fun, and I loved watching their friendship progress to more.

Party Favors was a story that will cheer you up, has the most fabulous happily ever after, a kind book boyfriend and a heroine you’ll love to watch grow. This book was an easy read, and I loved listening to the audio in KU too. I always enjoy a book by Wilson and can’t wait to see what she writes next!

I had read a novella by Sarah Wilson and enjoyed it very much so when there was a chance to obtain an ARC of Party Favors I was excited to read another story related to Monterra. Everly’s insecurities and blind eye to how much her boss was taking advantage of her was hard to get invested in the story. Her roommate Vella was a favorite of mine!

So many thoughts on this one. Sariah Wilson has written some real winners, but unfortunately this one wasn't a hit for me. Let's start with Max. He was sweet and charming, but I felt like he was kind of boring. I never really fully connected with him and just felt kinda "meh" about him. And then Everly, who was a mixed bag for me. She was so funny and relatable but I wanted to shake her so many times. I get that she has wounds from her past that prevented her from fully trusting Max's affection. But how many times does a man need to tell you he likes you (with his words and his actions) before you actually believe him? The limit didn't seem to exist for Everly. And that just made me grumpy.

Now on to the things I liked. First up is Vella. I LOVED VELLA. She had me cackling out loud so many times with her witty remarks. I also loved the call backs to Sariah's other series. I haven't read it, but seeing glimpses of these other characters definitely made me want to. I also enjoyed the party planner/work aspects. It reminded me of the movie 27 Dresses which I love. And finally, the kissing. Oh, man can Sariah write a hot kiss. I let you read it for your self but wheeeewww.

Overall, the things I didn't like just really took me out of the story so this wasn't a winner for me.

Sariah Wilson is a favorite author for fun rom com books. I liked Party Favors very much.
Everly Aprile is an aspiring event planner in NYC. She has been let down my men all of her life and has decided that she is better off with no relationship. Her roommate, Zella, is the opposite. When she insists that Everly meet a man, all drama ensues.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5

What a cute and cozy read!

Everly is party planner obsessed with Monterran royalty. She can't believe her luck when she meets a Monterran local who has recently moved to her city. When he agrees to show her more of his culture, Everly is thrilled.

Everly is wonderful but just can’t see how wonderful she really is. Max is just as sweet and their chemistry is amazing! The character were so lovable that you can’t help but enjoy this book! A fun and quick read with a perfect happily ever after!

Title : Party Favors
Author : @sariahwilson411
Genre : Romance
Rate : 🌟🌟🌟🌟

Thanks to @sariahwilson411 and @netgalley for giving me an early copy of this fantastic book. This was published on the 30 July 2024 and is available to buy now.

Everly is an event planners assistant but she is the one who does all the work. Her career has come to a standstill and so has her love life.

When a wealthy client wants a sweet sixteen party fit for an American princess, Everly offers to bring to if life, immersing herself in all things Monterra (she has been in awe of their royal family for as long as she can remember).

When she meets Max, who has relocated from Monterra, it feels like faith has intervened. If Everly promises to be Max’s New York City guide, he will teach her all of Monterra customs and cultures to boost the authenticity of the party.

As their friendship grows, Everly starts falling, but in what? Love or an unattainable obsession?

This was such a feel good book. I fell in love with Everly straight away, she is perfectly imperfect which is what I needed.
Her roommate and best friend Vella is amazing, such a brilliant wing woman. The friendship between this is on point.

Max is such a gentleman and good guy. The chemistry between the 2 of them is so cute. But neither of them wants to say how they feel incase the other doesn’t.

The romance side is a slow burner but it’s totally worth the wait. The ending was brilliant and I can’t see anyone being disappointed with it, in my opinion anyway.

SW always reels me in with her laugh out loud stories.

I loved this one, just like all the others.
They're cute and funny.

The MMC is swoon worthy

The whole book gives a Hallmark, mug of hot chocolate + cookie straight from the oveñ type vibe and I am here for it!!

I wish some of her books would become movies!

A fun romance.

I've read a few Sariah Wilson romances and this reminded me of how she used to write... maybe it was the return to Monterran characters? Either way, it was an enjoyable read.

Everly was your typical "emotionally scarred" heroine who couldn't see the wood for the trees or her "good parts", so it was satisfying to see her grow. She was sweet and thoughtful, totally taken advantage of and rather imperfect, but I liked her.

Max was the epitome of a cinnamon-roll hero, with his delicious outside and thoughtful, comforting insides. I was really drawn to his sincerity and loved the contrast between him and Adrian.

Bravo to Ms Wilson catching me off guard with one particular twist. I felt like I'd been set up for something completely different, so that was a fabulous development.

I received an ARC of this novel.
