Overall, I liked this book a lot. It was undeniably spicy, but it had substance, the relationships between MCs were well developed, they had pining, tender moments and deep feelings. I may be biased, since I love MM romances, but I especially loved the dynamics between Mike and Jonathan (brilliantly done friends-to-lovers trope, and Jon simply stole my heart). The kinkier dynamics between Victoria and Tyler was also superb. Still, as a foursome it could be better, mostly because, IMO, Tyler was introduced a bit too late.
What else didn't work for me is Victoria, the main female character. This girl sometimes drove me crazy. First, I hate unnecessary martyrdom. Second, she has some serious communication issues - she is not talking with her sister, mother, roommates, and not so much with the guys, and sometimes it got really frustrating. In addition, the beginning of the story was a bit shaky, I wasn't convinced that Victoria needs must to start on OF. There were also several times when I had to suspend my disbelief, especially at the end, how all were accepting and understanding, but, oh well, a bit of optimism won't hurt, will it? 3.5/5
Thanks to NetGalley for the eARC.
This is Aimee Rivkins first book, and she has definitely been added to my must buy authors! I love dual POV and Aimee really pulled through giving insight on all 4 of the main characters! I felt it was a realistic and super fresh read, and hope this book gets the push it deserves. I will say this book had its faults, to start I found the blurb to be a bit misleading. The beginning of this book was 100% 5/5 stars for me, but I found about 75% into the book it got a little forced with the step brother storyline. I thoroughly enjoyed the build up of Mike, Jonathan and Victoria's storyline and think this book would of been much better as a MMF book vs a MMMF book. I also didnt think the "good girl" storyline really added up with Victoria, as she didn't even think twice about selling her body for money, or think of any other options. Overall if you go into this book WITHOUT expectations or reading the plot I think it will be a much better experienfe! In the end this book did keep me super entertained and invested in the story, I gained two new book boyfriends in Mike and Jonathon and I can't wait to see what this authoe puts out next. Thank you to Netgalley for the early review copy of Expanded Roster!
A phenomenal MMFM baseball romance.
I loved this one so much. I loved all of the dynamics between the characters, and the tension and chemistry that was evident as soon as they stepped on the page. I loved seeing Victoria grow in confidence and realising she can do what makes her happy regardless of other people’s opinions. It had such great s*x positivity between the MCs and those who knew and loved them. I adored the relationship between Mike and Jonathan, and how they may let each other down at times but they never stop loving each other or working to make it better. My only gripe is that I felt ROBBED of that pegging scene. Every smutty scene was great but I would’ve loved more Tyler and more of them as a foursome in general.
I expected a sexy baseball romance, and I got so much more! The title makes so much sense with the expanding sex life of our main female character, Victoria. The chemistry was excellent and the spicy scenes were HOT and funny in the best way. When complications arise, the characters' relationships weather them, and the characters get stronger for it. I really enjoyed Expanded Roster and would recommend it for lovers of the Why Choose trope.
Thank you to NetGalley, OnSub Press, and Ms. Rivkin for the opportunity to read an ARC of this title. An honest review was requested but not required.
Frankly I was very impressed with this book for, mmm, say about 75%. I found the three-way dynamic between Mike, Victoria and Jonathan to be very believable and relatable. I liked the mutual attraction between them all and the way they were able to work out a functional and healthy relationship. I also really appreciated the angst Mike and Jonathan felt about expressing attraction to each other in the context of their team. That seemed pretty realistic, as did the draft details. I did not know that clubhouse employees wash clothes on a laundry ring! I literally went straight to google to get more information on that. Genius!
However.
The inclusion of Tyler felt like too much. He had such an antagonistic relationship with Victoria for the bulk of the book, then his rapid switch to partner felt rushed and haphazard. I felt very little connection between him and Mike or him and Jonathan, and vice versa. I don't know. I felt like the relationship worked so well as a MMF situation and the addition of Tyler was just... gratuitous.
Overall I would say I enjoyed this book but if I was being honest I would say this would be a stronger book if we could excise Tyler.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
HEA: yes
spice: several open-door spicy scenes
TWs: bullying
standalone: yes
final thoughts: EVERYONE READ THIS IF YOU LOVE A WHY CHOOSE SPORTS ROMANCE!!! This is a MMFM poly romance that builds throughout the book with best friends and a former stepbrother! What I love about why choose romances this book absolutely delivers- MMCs that have different personalities that should clash but mesh so well together. I wish I could’ve stayed in this world for longer and seen more of their interactions because it was SUCH a fun read with lots of spicy scenes, plenty of angst and pining, just enough sports to remember it’s a sports romance without needing to know about the sport, and found family trope.

Most important, I enjoyed it. I loved the characters for the most part and the story kept me interested. What dropped some stars for me? A couple things. It felt like resolutions to really life altering issues were made so quickly that it didn’t feel believable. Also, I wish the stepbrother storyline had been a bigger part of the whole book. It really only took off after the 50% mark so it felt like a third wheel and a bit out of place. And finally, the first 20% or so of the book feels like it needs some polish and the rest just has SO MUCH going on. Overall though, I thought it was solid, easy read with some very spicy spice.
Unfortunately, I couldn’t get into this one. The writing style just wasn’t for me, and the power dynamic and her job immediately struck me as un-sexy. I’m sure some people would like it, though! I didn’t get to the spice, so I can’t comment on that.
Thank you so much Aimee for offering me the eARC before my physical arrives! I actually don’t read much sports romance at all and this was my first ever baseball romance so make it why choose and throw in some MM action? Yes please! Mike and Jon were honestly perfect for eachother and I’m so glad they realized it 🙌 I loved how Vicky quickly found out just how freaky she was once she started exploring her sexuality and got a little bossy in the bedroom 👏 I wasn’t entirely sure about Tyler at first but by the end I had a little soft spot for him too. Well done Aimee!
Thoroughly enjoyed this book by Aimee Rivkin. I would have liked to see what became of Mike and Tyler and if anything happened with Jonathan and Tyler.
Thank you to Netgalley for this advanced reader's copy.
This was my first “why choose” type romance and it was fun! I normally don’t read this kind of book but always looking to branch out and also add to our library (we have a spicy section)! Even though it wasn’t my normal I really enjoyed it since the main character Victoria was strong and knew what she want and the spicy scenes were written well! I liked that while it was spicy I did feel like their were moments of real connection. If this type of romance is your cup of tea then definitely pick this up!
I was literally kicking my feet reading this absolutely delicious why choose baseball romance. Scratched ALL of my itches in the best possible ways!!
Oof this book! So spicy! Girl needs money, girl decides to make a sex tape of her losing her V card to make money on OF. She ends up with two boyfriends who are also boyfriends and then there’s another dude who comes in later. Literally lol. Sports romance (baseball), forbidden relationships, multiple POV, why choose, lots of drama, but some very sweet romance in there. I really enjoyed it! Thanks to @netgalley and @aimeerivkinauthor for the ARC!
Sorry, but if you want us to believe that your heroine is the definition of a Type A, organised, 'good girl' virgin, having her decide in 0.3 milliseconds that selling her body on camera is the only way to raise money is going to totally undermine this. People who are genuinely of this personality type don't spend half a minute on OnlyFans before deciding yes, that's exactly what they want. They tend to, you know, THINK about things first?? Like the sort of impact this could have on their job prospects if they're recognised?
So yeah, I DNFed pretty quick, because if your heroine has to be that untrue to her own purported character for your premise to even unfold, that suggests the rest of the plot won't be especially well-thought-out either.
Also, to be quite honest, the 'dire financial straits' made me lol a bit. These people have food, housing and clothing, the heroine is just terrified that her sister won't be able to get a uni scholarship because their mum owes back taxes to the IRS or something. I have no idea if that's how the US scholarship system works, but even if that's the case, the heroine's 0-100 leap into sex shenanigans was risible. She PUTS UP A POSTER ADVERTISING FOR A PARTNER on the SU board, because of course that's not a surefire way to attract creeps. The fact the hero responded to the poster just makes him come across like a creep, and NOT in the appealing dark romance way either.
This books was such a surprising delight! I don't generally read either poly romance or new adult romance, but I was absolutely riveted to this story from the beginning. The tension between characters and the way they worked through all of the complicated issues around their relationships was wonderful. Also it was beyond sexy! HIGHLY recommend!
Reader, be prepared: this book is as thoughtful and tender as it is spicy, which is VERY! Aimee Rivkin has a true gift for creating characters that are whole and complex and wounded and sexy and just... everything. There are so many love stories in this book to swoon over, and they're all as unique as the characters themselves. And did I mention it's REALLY REALLY hot?
This book felt like a stream of conscienceless and not in a good way. The characters are in college but there are some things that don’t make sense. I think if you can remove the logistics of these characters and just engage in the why choose aspect you’re going to have a great time. You’re introduced to two of the why choose members relatively quickly and the in the third act another enters. I enjoyed having another character entering to add to the fun of their relationship. Once I let the logistics go I was able to enjoy the story. I want to live in the world where there is a poly MLB prospect openly sharing their love for their partners.
⭐️⭐️/5
Why Choose and sports books are my typical go to! I love both genres. I liked this one but I didn't love it. Here's why - it almost felt like 2 separate stories. We had Jonathan, Mike and Victoria - they were perfection. Then we randomly had Tyler thrown in? Tyler's addition to the story almost felt like a completely different story line. I think I would have preferred 2 separate books - Tyler + Victoria and then Victoria with the baseball boys. Also, the taboo of this book fell flat for me. It was a little too easy and a little too accepted. The spice was good and steamy. Again, I enjoyed this book but it missed the mark a little (in my opinion). 3 stars.
I was given an Advanced Reader Copy by NetGalley for an honest review.
I’m obsessed. There’s just something about a sports why choose where there’s more than just a friendship between MMCs that I just love. The polyamorous relationship between all 4 of them, while adding in the fact that it’s very public with their only fans account makes me love the book even more. Not only is Victoria very open to exploring her sexuality but the way the guys make her feel like it’s okay to ask for anything and everything she wants makes my heart melt. I loved this book and can’t wait for my friends to read it
This was a fun, angsty, and very steamy why choose romance with college-aged characters. I loved that there were chapters with different POVs so we could know what each person was thinking and feeling.
I really enjoyed the growth Victoria went through. It was almost a rather quick shift from Old Victoria to new Victoria but I liked that!
Part of me wishes we had gotten a little more Tyler because I loved the banter and snark between him and Victoria.
Mike and Jonathan were adorable and I loved them both!!
