i received this book as an arc from netgalley. i have to be honest, i was adamant that i wouldn’t dnf this book (and i have wanted to since the first chapter) because its an arc and i wanted to be able to give a well rounded review but i just got so frustrated with our main character and the story in general that i just had to give up.
There’s a massive theme of “the older you are the wiser you are” and that age = maturity which just isn’t true and it felt a little bit like it was being used to belittle other characters in the fmc’s mind. this is especially concerning because, despite the fact that she is 27 years old, she acts like a teenager, which she acknowledges, and then continues to act in the same way?!
The main reason i got so frustrated was because our main character was acting beyond rude to who is supposed to be the main love interest. she is immediately stand offish towards him when they first meet and even though they have to work together in close quarters, they do nothing to remedy the fact that they are both quite hostile to each other.
to end this on a positive note, this book does have short chapters and is quite easy to read and get through.
- Thankyou Netgalley and Avon Books UK for the e-arc! -

I was hoping I would love this book but it just didn’t sit right with me and I could absorb myself completely. This wasn’t for me!

This was a fun book, although not one I would select to reread. It had a promising premise, and the execution was a solid passing grade. 💖

✨ Cruise Life
✨ Romcom
✨ Hea

✨Chef Sofia is the main character of the story. She started her new journey with great enthusiasm.
Jack Carter on the other hand is working way up to being a first officer.
✨ the story of them has a mixture of enemies to lovers as they trying to be together but they have a lot of differences.
✨ The story was okay and plain basic for me. But it’s great for someone new in the world of romance.

✨ Thankyou @avonbooks for the opportunity to read this book for a honest review

It gave below deck vibes in the best way possible. I loved the atmosphere and setting, but what got me was that it was just too much of a cliche romance for me.

This was the perfect light and fluffy romance for the summer. It was cool to see the crew working on the ship and trying to balance every day life

I really enjoyed this quirky rom com and had a great time reading it. There was good banter and I thought the characters were good together. A great pallet cleanser book.

Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for this ARC.
This looked like a cute little romcom book and I was excited to give it a go, albeit a bit apprehensive after looking at some reviews.
Chef Sofia Harlow is off on a new adventure, ditching her dream job that no longer makes her happy and trying the Yachtie life.
Jack Carter has been enjoying the Yachtie life and the ladies of each port for years now but has finally worked his way to First Officer.
Sofia and Jack don’t make great first impressions on each other in this enemies to lovers story as they learn that being quick to judge and making assumptions may have ruined any chances of being happy.
This story was good, not great but I still found myself wanting to continue despite being unsure of how it was gonna progress.
I was 100% sure Petra was gonna be a baddie that was secretly out to get Sofia fired as she definitely caused so much of the drama and I was annoyed she got a HEA.
I know some people do fall quickly but I felt like Sofia and Jacks love was unrealistic and rushed, there should’ve been more moments of flirting and ‘maybe I could like him/her’ it felt very sudden when they just went for it, which I think let the story down as it could have been made more believable, wasn’t enough tension and build up for the way it happened IMO.
Overall was a cute story, just didn’t tick all the boxes for me.
2.5 stars rounded up

I was REALLY hoping I’d love this book, especially since I’m a big Below Deck fan so this was definitely a let down. The characters fell flat for me and the connection between them just didn't seem there. But please read it and decide for yourself. It just wasn't it for me personally.

Love Overboard is a cute summer romance novel by Ada Barume.
This was such a cute read. It's the perfect book to curl up with over the summer months. It's easy to follow and had a good cast of characters. Plus the pacing was just right. Overall a brilliant novel that I would recommend to other readers.

Thank you to #NetGalley and #AvonBooksUK for this ARC. Love Overboard was a fun summer read. It made me want to sail to beautiful Islands, but I get sea sick, so that is not happening, lol. This is a book of misunderstandings, enemies to lovers and the supporting cast is so fun. A must read for summer.

This was an easy read. It was lighthearted and fun. I loved the cruise element but I have to say, I read it when hungry and the start of the books talks A LOT about food. So I was famished!!

The characters were irritating at times but I did think that Sophia and Jack were a fiery couple. Their banter and differences were hilarious at times.

I did feel the language was a little on the YA side at times which was disappointing but I enjoyed the read.

Thank you to NetGalley, the publisher and Ada for allowing me this arc.

Thank you to Avon Books UK and Ada Barumé for the opportunity to receive a Digital ARC through Netgalley of Love Overboard in exchange for an honest and fair review.
Love Overboard is an enemies/rivals-to-lovers romance set on a luxury yacht sailing off the coast of Europe with VIP guests aboard. It's been tough to review this book as I loved the premise, the characters, and the yachties' misbehaving vibes of the Below Deck TV show. The writing, however, is chaotic, with POVs all over the place for Sophia and Jack. A massive flashback jumps out of nowhere. Pacing throughout the story was troubling - you got lulls of very little happening in the plot and then ramping up to scenes of drama and hilarious banter and shenanigans that I couldn't stop reading despite having tears in my eyes from laughing. I feel that, in the pacing and plotting, I didn't click with the story, which is a huge shame as I loved everything else about Love Overboard, especially the characters I kept reading about.

The characters of this book hooked me into staying until the end. I loved the crew onboard the yacht – we have a dynamo pot of character types who all clash and spark with each other. At the same time, some form instant friendships under forced proximity. These two spark and sizzle while trying to deliver the best service for two reality TV stars who have hired their boat. I loved feisty, overachiever chef Sophia and her grumpy, uptight counterpart, First Officer Jack.

Sophia's a girl taking control of her life, challenging herself, and trying to grow after a challenging year. Her character's frustrations and pains are relatable to the reader, and you quickly find yourself engaged in her story, rooting for her voyage onboard to succeed. She doesn't want to let romance or anyone stand in her way of making the most of the opportunity to be a chef aboard a luxury yacht. Jack is trying to prove himself more than his family's name and status. He wants to do things for himself, and you must admire his dedication and strong sense of duty. Still, he's a real grump when faced with a feisty chef who won't do as she is told and clashes with him on everything. Under forced proximity, these two spark and sizzle while trying to deliver the best service for two reality TV stars who have hired their boat. They were perfect opposites with banter and could set each other off like rockets as they juggled their duties onboard, trying not to get in each other's way. There is nothing more fun than watching Yachties behaving badly, as Below Deck proves – the antics between Sophia and Jack are funny, and their chemistry is dynamite to read.

If you love the reality TV show Below Deck with yachties acting up and Emily Henry's style of romance writing, this rivals-to-lovers romance will be right up your alley. It's full of great banter and funny moments to tickle your funny bone—a perfect light-hearted, romantic summer reading with plenty of humour and gorgeous scenery.

This book was fine. It read fast and captured the setting well, but it felt like a debut novel.

Sofia joins the crew of a yacht for a season as the chef after a toxic relationship at home. She and the first officer, Jack, get off on the wrong foot but chemistry prevails as they get to know each other. Can they get over several miscommunications to make a relationship work?

This book contains lots of drama from the entire yacht staff. Everybody was hooking up on that boat. It made the book feel like a soap opera where the author just threw a bunch of stuff at the wall. Nothing was well developed. Sofia and Jack were both pretty unlikable and that made it hard to root for them as a couple. I wasn't left with the feeling that their love was real or sustainable off the boat. The switching of POVs in the middle of the book for basically one scene felt a little like cheating too.

I give this book 2.5 stars, but I'm rounding up to 3 because the setting really was great. Thank you to NetGalley and Avon for the e-book in exchange for my honest review.
