I really enjoyed reading Sammy’s story and couldn’t put the book down. Sammy isn’t the typical MFC, she is realistic and openly admits she doesn’t have her life figured out. She is struggling, but she is also a wonderful person, hard worker, great sister and mother and she tries. So, when she finds herself kid free and sees Noah at a bar, she decides to approach him. Unfortunately, another woman walks up to him first and she thinks he was waiting for her. Enter Gavin. He has asked her out a couple of times, so when she runs into him again she says yes.
The way this book was written was a new approach and I liked it. The first part was all from Sammy’s perspective. We got to see into her daily life, understand what she was going through and really feel for her character. It added depth, character growth, without the other main character adding his two cents, and added to the tension and mystery of who she was going to end up with.
Gavin is a business man who lets his interest in Sammy be known early on. He treats her kids well and supports her when she needs it. Her travels a lot for work and is willing to go at the pace she sets. I really thought she should give him a chance.
Noah is friends with Sammy’s sister and a doctor. She find him attractive but keeps seeing him with other women. Until later in the book, you don’t know if he is into her or not. Her sister keeps trying to set her up with Noah, but it never happens. He is also really good with her kids, supports when she needs it, and is a truly nice guy.
There are some surprises in this book that I didn’t see coming. The prologue sets the stage and when that moment happens in the book, I was speechless. The aftermath of that also has far reaching consequences that I didn’t see coming. I wish there would have been at least one chapter about that because one person got hurt and I felt bad for him or her.
The narrators were fantastic and I would definitely listen to more books narrated by both. Sebastian York is always fantastic and he did a wonderful job of bringing the MMC to life. Elizabeth Louise is a new narrator for me, but she really embodied Sammy.
I really enjoyed this book and can’t wait for more. I received an ARC and this is my honest, voluntary review.
3.5 stars rounded up!
This was pretty cute and had a couple of plot twists that I didn't expect. I, however, did like the second book in this series more than this one. I normally love the single parent trope but there was something about this one that was kind. of off to me. Anyways, I LOVEDDD Noah, and disliked Gavin from the very beginning. The authors did a great job of portraying men that make women uncomfortable because it was very accurate. Sammy's kids were incredibly cute and I loved her relationship with her sister.
Happy Release Day to this beauty!
Have you read anything by Max Monroe?
If not and you love a good romcom don't hesitate to pick this series up!
I received a copy of the ALC thanks to @authormaxmonroe @rick_283 @netgalley! I was so excited to get my hands on this one. Sebastian York and Elizabeth Louise did a phenomenal job with narration.
I devoured this book. With such relatable characters and witty humor it just really feeds my love for romcoms. This one even pulled at my heart multiple times. So well rounded. I can't sing its praises enough. I for sure wasn't ready for it to be over.

👉🏻Cluelessly Yours is a complete standalone but is also interconnected with Accidental Attachment and Best Frenemies. Available in ebook, audio, paperback, and Kindle Unlimited.
Oh, how I’ve enjoyed this “series”! I know they don’t technically call these three books an actual series, but Accidentally Yours, Best Frienemies and Cluelessly Yours are most definitely one!
Brooke Baker from Accidentally is the little sister of Sammy Baker, our new lead. Her and her man, Chase, are great friends with Noah, and have been trying to set the pair up for a while - but Sammy is a recently divorced single mom and has no time or inclination to date… besides, she always sees him out with gorgeous women. And a client of her restaurant has been relentlessly asking her out.
The book begins with career day at the kids school which is the main feature of Best Frienemies, and we get a flash forward to a scene from near the end of the book - so we’re anxiously awaiting getting to that part and finding out how we land in the hospital, who’s all there, and who this interloper is! In typical Max Monroe style, they give us a million twists and turns, a majorly strong woman in the lead, a cinnamon roll we root for the whole way through, and it’s touted as a love triangle (something I try to avoid), but done in a brilliant fashion.
It’s spectacular, unique and just so unexpected in every way, and I recommend to all whether you’re a longtime Max Monroe fan, or just discovering this delightful duo. I would suggest reading Accidentally Yours first, though, for the important details about the history on this part, and to be a little less lost..
Get the fantastic audio version - narrated by the amazing unicorn that is Sebastian York, who I will never get enough of, and a new-to-me Elizabeth Louise, who also did a wonderful job and I can’t wait to hear more from!
I received an advance read and listen copy from NetGalley the authors and this is my honest feedback.
You need to go absolutely blind into this story. Beware of spoilers, just go in and enjoy and you won’t regret it. Sammy was such a fun character. She is a divorced single mom to two wild boys who constantly find themselves in trouble. Any boy moms out there will relate to her struggles. She is also Brooke’s sister from Accidental Attachment so it was fun to see a lot of Brooke. Sammy ends up being pursued by two different men. Noah and Gavin. Which one will she choose? If you hate love triangles, don’t worry it doesn’t last very long. Once Sammy makes her choice it is so much fun to see them date and get to know each other. I loved the way he always thought about her kids too, now that man is a keeper!
The twists and turns towards the end had me a little nervous but I always trust Max Monroe. I was actually really surprised by how all of that went down, it was not what I was expecting.
The audiobook was so good. It was easy to listen to and I didn’t want to stop it. Sebastian York is familiar to me and his performance was outstanding. Elizabeth Louise is new to me and she may be a new favorite narrator. Her performance was fantastic. She absolutely felt like the character of Sammy.
Thank you so much to @netgalley @rick_283 @good.girls.pr and @authormaxmonroe for the ALC and ARC!

Max Monroe knows how to write a book! This book will make you laugh out loud! It portrays the craziness of being a single parent and of just life in such a relatable way.
Sammy is a single mom to two young boys who are quite the handful, and quite hilarious. Their father is absent from the picture now and Sammy is just trying to survive day by day with chaos reigning in her life. Sammy’s sister Brooke is determined to set her up with their doctor friend Noah. Sammy works as a GM of a busy restaurant and is asked on a date by a businessman Gavin. Sammy decides to give him a chance, even though she really isn’t sure she is up for dating.
However, thanks to the haphazardness that are Sammy’s boys, she keeps running into Noah. Noah is an anesthesiologist for pediatric patients, so he is right there when Sammy is in the hospital with her boys. Noah goes out of his way to help Sammy and her sister Brooke whenever he can.
Sammy is trying to figure out her head from her heart in this book. She doesn’t think she is worthy of love in the crazy chaos that is her life. Everything as a parent to young kids can be relatable in this book, and Max Monroe writes it in such a funny, refreshing way that makes you know that you are not alone in this life. And that there are people who will walk alongside you to do this crazy life with you! If only you will keep your heart open to it!! 💜

The narrators were on point for the characters of Sammy and Noah. Elizabeth Louise as Sammy was perfect; she lived and breathed Sammy and you could just feel all of the things she went through as a single mom with a lot on her plate. Sebastian York played Noah and brought confidence and gentlemanliness to Noah’s character.

I just love how the duo, Max Monroe’s writing comes together to make such fun and entertaining stories! I truly could not put this one down and the moment I received it, I knew I had to read it right away! This story had me laughing so hard one minute and had me swooning, then in shock the next!
The main character Sammy is a single mom badass with the best sister and even better two small sons that make her life constant chaos. The story of Sammy being a single mom with all the bumps in the road being thrown at her and her continuing to push through it all was such an inspiring part of the story. I loved that she knew she had to swear off any chance of dating due to her hectic life, but still found herself in a love triangle of sorts with two different men.
Enter the charming doctor, Noah who is in awe of her at first sight and comes to her rescue several times with her sons. The gestures melted my heart instantly and his support for her had me swooning from the moment he walked in. BUT of course the opening chapter where it flashes to the end of the book has you very curious about how that all can be real and has you guessing what could possibly be authentic during the entire book with the two of them. In the end, it all comes together and Sammy ends up with the right guy and the happy ending. And that epilogue was on point! It was the perfect wrap up!
My only slight disconnect from the story was some of the miscommunication. That is a personal dislike though, so that’s the only reason it stood out to me.

📖Cluelessly Yours by Max Monroe
🗓️Pub date: January 13, 2024 (out now!)
Sammy Baker is a divorced, single mom with an absent ex-husband and no time to date. Her two boys, Seth and Grant, keep her busy along with her full time job, so dating is rarely on her mind. Meanwhile, her sister has been trying to get her to go out with Noah, the hot doctor who always seems to be surrounded by women. But Sammy has recently met Gavin, a seemingly nice guy with a great job and who seems genuinely interested in Sammy.
She went from not having any time to date to suddenly being caught in the middle of a love triangle. When Sammy thought she had finally figured out who she wanted to be with, a tragic accident occurred and Sammy woke up in the hospital to a pregnant woman standing next to her boyfriend’s bed and claiming to be his girlfriend. Will Sammy finally figure out what happened and get her happy ending? And if so, who will she choose?
I won’t say too much because I don’t want to give away any spoilers but I adored this story. I found Sammy’s character to be so relatable and her boys were so cute and hilarious. The banter between the characters was so funny and there were numerous times throughout that I was laughing out loud. And the spice was 🥵🌶️.

I listened to this on audio and thought Elizabeth Louise and Sebastian York did an amazing job. Sebastian is always one of my favorites.
✨Cluelessly Yours can be read as a standalone but is part of a series. While it’s not required, I would also recommend reading Accidental Attachment since there is a lot of character crossover
Thank you Max Monroe and NetGalley for the opportunity to listen this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
The book starts with a prologue of the present time that shows us the penultimate events of Sammy and the “Man” in the hospital after an accident, and back a few months before it all went down. It works well to pique my interest and wondering what happens and who is the guy. It doesn’t take a genius to figure out who will Sammy choose, but again, the pregnant woman shown in the prologue is still a mystery. The story wraps up nicely with adorable 3 parts epilogues, I wonder if there’s another book for a certain character in the future…
This is my first book from Max Monroe, and this type of rom-com is just right up my alley. It’s hilarious, full of pop culture references which I do not mind. There were so many lines that cracked me up so hard, better pay attention to the author’s warning, cause it’s no joke😂 I enjoyed listening and reading it at the same time, the narrators did such a good job delivering the lines, it was funny and full of emotion. I highly recommend getting the audio, you can’t go wrong with Sebastian York.
Middle life 🥰 FMC 41 / MMC 43
Max Monroe has become a must read author (writing team) for me.
In full transparency I haven't read the first book in the "It's a Funny Story" series. They all stand alone and after reading the third I think I'll be going back to read the first.
The book it structured a little differently than I was anticipating. The chapters don't alternate in a dual POV style. Part 1 is exclusively told from Sammy’s POV, Part 2 from Noah’s, Part 3 alternates.
From the beginning you're teased with information that leaves you desperate to know wtf is going on.
In the first chapter the FMC, Sammy, wakes up in hospital next to the man she’s in love with after an accident. He has a very pregnant person acting like his GF. We then as readers are tossed back in time to see how we've got to where we are.
All of my notes regarding content involve me screaming at my phone demanding to know what is going on.
Here is a redacted abridged snippet:
- XXXXX a douche canoe
- XXXXX dream boat
- 57% - WTF is XXXXX the bad guy?!?
- I cannot cope if XXXXX a creep.
- 76% - WTF!?!?!
In Part 3 FINALLY it all becomes clear. Excellent twist. Good set up for next book.
I will 100% drop other books to get my hands on a book in this series.
Also the Audiobook narrators are good.
This book was so fun! Great characters and so many laugh out loud moments.
Thanks to #NetGalley and the publisher for access to this audiobook in exchange for an honest review.
Noah is the absolute cutest! I fell in love with his character the moment he was introduced. Sammy is the best mom and you just adore her boys. Sweet read that will bring a smile on your face.
This may be my favorite Max Monroe book so far! The witty banter had me smiling and laughing throughout the whole book. The unexpected twists/tragedies added an additional layer of goodness to the story. And the happy ending! 😍 I listened to the audiobook, and absolutely loved the narrators. They pulled the personalities so well and were very easy to listen too, highly recommend reading or listening to Cluelessly Yours!
“With the right guy, life gets easier.”
Sammy Baker is a single mom to two young boys and is trying to figure out life after moving to be closer to her sister in NYC. She hasn’t dated anyones since her divorce and is finally maybe ready to get herself back out there. However, she finds herself debating if she likes the successful businessman she met at the restaurant she works at or if the doctor her sister keeps trying to set her up with more.
This series is just so quirky and fun. This book is third in a series but could be read as a standalone. I think this was my favorite so far. It’s funny. It’s cute. It’s real. I feel like Sammy is one of the most realistic characters ever written. Noah is hallmark worthy. Definitely recommend this one.
Thank you to NetGalley and Max Monroe for an audioARC of this novel!
Max Monroe always write great rom-coms. This one, while humorous, and still a solid read, was not my favourite of theirs.
The narrators were great, I love pretty much anything Sebastian York is a part of, and Elizabeth Louise will always, no matter what, remind me of the After series (which might not be the best thing... I'm not sure, though).
I had a hard time getting into the story, as it starts with a heavy presence of the heroine's incredibly annoying children. Personally, I find kids in books can make or break it, and it's hard to get them right. They got slightly less annoying throughout, but they definitely didn't help my enjoyment of the book. The heroine herself wasn't my favourite, as she just seemed like a pushover with both her romantic interest and her children. She did start to grow on me once her relationship with Noah started to take off.
I hadn't read the two books that this one is interconnected with (Accidental Attachment and Best Frenemies) but i wish I had, as those couples had fairly big roles in this book and I would have liked to see their back stories.
Am I planning on reading the other books that are connected? Probably.
Would I read the next book, if there was one? Sure.
Would I recommend this book to those who enjoy a sweet love story with a hero who would do anything for the heroine? YES!
🥰Enjoyment: This was a super cute read! I was excited to get Sammy’s story finally! I will say that my interpretation of the blurb was way off base so basically half the plot took me by surprise but it was still really enjoyable.
📖 🎧 Writing &/or Audio Style: The writing style is classically Max Monroe and easy to get sucked right in. The Narrators also did a really nice job.
👥 Characters & Relationships: As a single mom myself, Sammy’s role was painfully relatable, this life is not for the faint of heart. I can’t tell you much about the main male character without it being a spoiler alert but I really loved him too. I also loved the little peaks we got into Brooke & Chase’s life (Accidental Attachment). Their sister relationship cracks me up.
⁉️Plot, Intrigue & Logic: As mentioned above I totally misinterpreted the blurb so I was a tinnnnny bit sad this wasn’t an amnesia story, but I really liked how it played out in the end.
🏞️Atmosphere & Setting: Set in New York City, it was pretty standard feeling for a city based book.
🚨 For Reader Awareness: One of the main male’s makes some 🤬 comments.
📣Recommended for fans of: Rom Coms with Single Mom’s, “older” (ie early 40s) characters.
🎭Mood Reader Classification: I think I might like a shelf trophy.
I lived the ebook version of this book so I thought why not ask for an advanced copy of the audio to make cleaning a little more fun. Plus Sebastian yorks narration is always spot on. Elizabeth Louis was s new to me I believe. I wasn’t as thrilled with her she wasn’t bad, just not as good as some others. It could also be that I listen at 1.25x. This book was a treat both reading and listening to. Thank you NetGalley for the advanced copy. These opinions are my own and voluntarily given
Thanks NetGalley for the ARC of this audiobook. I thought it was very relatable to the working, single moms out there. Life is crazy and dating is just out of the question. She meets a man who is an attractive doctor but seems unavailable but seems to keep popping up in her life. She agrees to go on a few dates with a man who is available and is clearly interested in her. As life shuffles around she is trying to manage her kids, her sister and now this new dating life. This cute was funny, relatable and overall had a great energy to it. I loved it. I didn’t realize it was part of a series and that didn’t affect my reading experience.
