This was a great book two even though the jump in spice threw me for a bit. I am all here for spice but some of it felt spicy just for the sake of spice, but I was here for it. LOVE Zarya and Rabin!! I think the magic system is really unique and I have so many questions!! Yasen is the best and cannot wait for more from this author!
The sequel we’ve been waiting for!
I was so excited when I got the arc for this book! I was so in love with the first book and could not wait to dive back into this city of magic and monsters.
Book two comes in hot, and with a glossary! I am so grateful for this as the worldbuilding is so rich that it is incredibly helpful to have the glossary bookmarked to refer back to.
The world in this series is such a fascinating place to be in with this found family we’ve gotten to know and love in this series.
Zarya is such a strong woman and while she started as fierce, but naive (not of her own doing) she’s very aware of that but her curiosity and her own growth and healing through book two is such amazing character development. As we know there was so much she was kept in the dark about regarding her past and her family, and in Dance of Stars and Ashes we discover some answers to her questions.
I love each of the characters, and their various personalities. The magic in this world is fascinating.
Yasen and Zaryas friendship is one of my faves! I really love Yasen’s character. Found family is one of my favorite tropes so I love to see it building in this sequel. I really just love how all of the supporting characters are depicted in this series and have roles to play in the story.
Rabin 🥵 our broodiest of the broody MMCs is back in action. Dance of Stars and Ashes takes a step up in the STEAMY levels 😤❤️🔥
Let’s just say the slow burn pays off….
There’s so much action, healing, and growth in this sequel! The pacing I thought was pretty good and is honestly a pretty quick read!
🤫As for some secrets revealed…. I am SO curious to see where Nisha leads us in the next installment. 🤫
Make sure you check out Dance of Stars and Ashes! OUT NOW!

I recommend Nisha Tuli’s books to all my romantasy customers! I absolutely love the world and characters she has created with his series and can’t wait to see what’s next for Zarya and Rabin. A solid book two which sees great character and relationship development with a dramatic reveal at the end that shakes the growing relationship at its core.
This story is the perfect blend of spice, sweetness, plot , and action that I love on a romantasy. The slow burn is purrrrrrfect! The story picks up immediately after the first one and does not disappoint! I devoured every word, can’t wait to continue the series.
Such a fun and easy read! I adore the author and love anything that she writes. We have a ton of action and plot which is always nice. I really enjoyed the FMC and thought she was so well written!
Dance of Stars and Ashes blew me away!! I read it in about two sittings and couldn’t put it down. What a fantastic sequel. I’d be lying if I said I enjoyed the first book in the series (Heart of Night and Fire) much. To be honest after absolutely LOVING the trial of the sun queen series I was a let down by book one in this series, but Dance of Stars and Ashes did a 180 and was back to being everything I love and have come to expect out of a Nisha book.
Grit, passion, surprises, enemies to lovers, Indian mythology, so much intrigue, and an interesting magic system, this series has turned into a beautiful romantasy breath of fresh air and Rabin is my newest book boyfriend!
I’ll be here impatiently waiting for the next book to release!
Thanks so much to NetGalley, Nisha J Tuli and Second Sky for the arc. All thoughts and opinions are mine.
I LOVED the continuation of Zarya's story! I truly enjoy Nisha's world building and I can't wait to see what happens next.
The second book in the Nightfire Quartet gave us everything we needed following the first installment! You can really see the story developing in this book and I’m excited to see what happens next.
I’m calling it, Tuli is the MVP when it comes to slow burn romance, a swoon-worthy and believable storyline which has you falling even further in love with our main characters.
I have to say my favourite thing about this series so far is the really well thought through side characters. Every single one is so well developed and I really couldn’t pick a favourite (actually I lie, it’s obviously Yasen).
I need a release date for the next book ASAP!!
This was the perfect second book for this series, there is so many questions I still have after reading this which makes for the perfect cliffhanger. Also the emotion!??? The angst!??? Wonderful.
I had not read the first book in the series, so I began the story on a learning curve. However, the author provides excellent resources in the beginning to acquaint yourself with the world, and the story structuring itself has reminders from the first book without being overbearing. I found the characters (although not always likable) and their journeys interesting, and I was invested in the outcome. I plan to purchase the first book in the series, to reread this book, and to continue reading the series as it is released in the future..
I loved the first book in this series and I’m happy to say that this is just as good or even better than the first! It immediately continues where the first book left off and Zarya starts to discover more about herself and her powers. I loved Zarya’s and Yasen’s dynamics here (Yasen is definitely my favourite character). I highly recommend this if you like spicy romantasy with a South Asian twist.
Heartfelt thanks to NetGalley and Second Sky for this eARC in exchange for an honest review.
This book is so good! This series has quickly become a favorite, I love the writing and the storytelling so much!

Another absolutely wonderful read here! I was lucky enough to be offered an ARC of this book and I'm so glad I was - it was just as gripping and fun as the first in the series
we follow Zarya through the second sector of her journey, seeing how her control over her newfound powers and her relationships develop. this book was brilliant; full of rich descriptors and wonderful well rounded characters 🩶
I loved the developing relationship between Zarya and Rabin throughout the book, as well as the lore and mythology woven throughout the worldbuilding - it's always a joy to read!
the plot twist at the end of the book left me absolutely beyond shocked - there's no way I'd ever have predicted it, and it's left me eagerly awaiting book 3 to find out what's happening!
overall a wonderfully written romantasy novel, with lovable and relatable characters, immaculate and original worldbuilding and a gripping plot.
I would point out that this book is remarkably more nc-17 than the first, and as such reasonable precautions should be taken if recommending to someone 17 or under :)
A fantastic story. Action packed and never a dull moment, and the build-up of tension and the spice level between Zarya and Rabin was perfect. I thought this was better than the first book, and am so excited for a third installment. A perfect book for romantasy fans. I was provided a free ARC of this book via NetGalley in return for an honest review.
In Dance of Stars and Ashes, Zarya discovers newfound passion and dark magic in the city of Dharati, with the help of the mysterious Rabin, who is revealed to be a warrior prince with dangerous secrets. Despite her determination to focus on saving her home from encroaching demons, Zarya finds herself drawn to Rabin, grappling with whether their connection is driven by enchantment or desire, as tensions escalate towards a heart-stopping climax.
This is the second installment of the Nightfire Quartet and it picked up right after the events of book one. What I liked about this book is the South Asian lore and the character development of Zarya working through her forbidden magic. I also enjoyed the strong friendship Zarya has throughout this story with Yasen. What didn’t really work for me is the romance aspect. I wasn’t drawn into the connection between the characters, and it might be because I found Zarya quiet immature. The story ends on a cliffhanger, so I’m interested to see where the author takes this next. I’d recommend this book to people who enjoy found families, friend banter, and hidden magic.
Thank you to NetGallery and the publisher for an e-ARC of this book.
Thank you NetGalkey for the ARC. This sequel had a faster pace and full of things happening. Battle scenes were quite nice. Full of action and back story. Zarya’s parents were beatifully explained. A lot happened but there are still lots of possibilities (eg a villain is building I expect).
Technically, this one was much better and much complex than the first, and I am expecting much from the next ones. I really enjoyed, Thanks!
This is a great sequel to Heart of Night and Fire. It continues the epic fantasy romance that started from a slow burn that quickly turns into a steamy romance. With it's twist, turns, and shocking discoveries, it's an amazing continuation to the storyline.
Thank you netgalley for this eARC in exchange for my honest review.
I love Nisha Tuli. Her books are well-written, and easily consumable, even for those who don't read a lot of fantasy. Her books are a great intro to romantic fantasy. I like how she can write a slow burn so well, and the spice always HITS. This was an incredible sequel.
Last year I read book 1 and I was immediately drawn into this world. And the same exact thing happened with Dance of Stars and Ashes I am always a sucker for a South Asian fantasy book, and this series has delivered on it. Nisha J Tuli's writing is magnificent and immerses you in this fantastical world of magic and powers inspired by Indian mythology. I was already a fan of Zarya from the first book but this book made me fall in love with her even more; she is literally so badass and so cool and is probably one of my favourite main characters that I have ever read about in a fantasy book. Ever.
Zarya also has a wickedly delightful sense of humour and I found myself smiling a lot because of her. It was also great to see Zarya come into her own and learn more about her powers. And at the same time, I also enjoyed her banter with Rabin. Their banter was just incredible and trust me, they have some incredibly good chemistry. I can only hope, after that ending, things don't go too badly between them, but I am excited to see what happens.
I have no clue what book 3 will be like and honestly, I'm here for it. I cannot wait to be surprised and utterly bewitched by this world once more.
4 stars
This second book in the The Nightfire Quartet by Nisha J. Tuli, was a great next book in this series. While I had a great time with the first, this one really stepped up its game in terms of plot, romance and suspense. There were a number of exciting developments and twists in the plot that I thought added so much to this story. There were a couple points that had so much build up, taking and making up so much of both books and was over and wrapped up so quick, I was a bit disappointed.
This book had a lot more spice then the first book and I loved the tension and angst between the love interests was amazing and hot. The relationship developed very quickly during the second half of this story. Zara is a great character. She has grown a lot from the inexperienced girl when she was first introduced but still has some of that youthful and naive tendencies that come up especially for being locked up for so long, but she accepts it and grows, and I loved that.
There were some great surprises and twists, some of which I did not see coming at all. One thing I will say is that as this book was wrapping up and then the last five pages it flipped Zara said one thing then did another. I get that it’s setting up for the next book; it just did not feel like it fit. That it should have been the end and then someone just stuck them on later.
Overall, this is a great second book in this fantasy romance series, highly recommended, amazing magic, romance and journey.
I received an advanced ebook, via Netgalley. This review is my own honest opinion.
