Eighty days series was written at the time when Fifty Shades was hot commodity, and so it is introduced, but for me it's more like mix of This Man and Maya Banks' Sweet series. From This Man the London side of the story and all the different sexual scenes from Sweet series.
The story is highly intensive and hot, with a lot of sex and fetish, but also lot of music and regular human communications and relationships, and the sex scenes are tasteful, so it never gets too graphic to become porn. At first I was surprised how down to earth Summer was with her new desires, but when she got to New York, all of a sudden she become this simpering fool, who is so easily lead. She is generally intelligent girl, but then there are times that I'm really surprised she has survived though all her traveling.
And then there is this incredible moment at the end of the book when Dominic actually time travels (that's the only explanation to to this I can find) since Dominic can somehow get from London to New York in just a couple of hours (Concord does not fly any more :)). There is this moment when Summer calls to Dominic who is in London at the time. Dominic gets a plane ticket for New York for next day and arrives in New York (that's the place when he enters the time loop) on a morning before Summer called him, 'course otherwise there is no other way, how he had time to walk around town, find a hotel and go to walk in a park, and find Summer just two hours after her call to him :D
But besides those annoying Summer's blue-eyed moments and this unbelievable time-loop the story was actually good. There is no instalove, no moping about he-loves-me-he-loves-me-not. It's a good adult romance book, absolutely fit for Vibrators Book Club.
In the second book of Eighty Days, the story is basically about long distance relationship and is it possible, when both partners are not fully committed and when they have other people around them to keep them apart.
Through all this story Summer and Dominic are either together and happy or together and miserable but as I already said they are not always the reason for their unhappiness. But the thing that was really buzzleing in this book is Viktor. What was his real reason to cook up this really complicated scheme? The reason he gave to Dominic - 'I was bored.' - does not ring true.
But apart from this odd Victor part in all the happines and misery in Summer's and Dominic's life, it was once again an good adult romance book.
The third book of Eighty Days series starts two years after Summer and Dominic split. Summer is punishing herself with running in cold weather, she is living with Simon (nice vanilla Simon) and Dominic has written a book that is basically a story about Summer and shares apartment in London with Lauralynn.
This story is the weirdest of them all. There is this love story. Meeting old friends and making new friends. And then there is this strange criminal mystery and a lot of music and traveling. It's not weird that there is many different things pushed together, the weird part is how they are presented, many things have not been completely thought trough.
But just like with first two books, the sex scenes are interesting and entertaining and the relationships are bit awkward but they fit with the general theme, but just those Really?!?!? moments are not so good.
