I thought this was very good and I will have to add this to the shop shelves. Thank you for the chance for us to review.

A family that wins a lottery jackpot should be the dream outcome everyone wants, except it brings out all of the problems that a family shares. The author writes tenderly and humorously about family drama.

Winning the lottery jackpot—a dream many cherish, envisioning a life a hundredfold better. This is precisely what the Jacobson family just might be about to experience when their long-shot dream finally comes true.

Four siblings, all raised in poverty, find themselves about to divide their life-changing windfall. As they gather to pack up their deceased father’s belongings, one of the brothers, Noah, responds to an ad for a Powerball drawing. His siblings, Matthew, Laura, and Sophie, are at crossroads in their lives, perhaps even facing dead ends. Matthew, the only sibling who didn’t want to contribute to the ticket purchase, soon finds himself entangled in a web of unexpected consequences that his now millionaire siblings are facing..

As the siblings grapple with the prospect of their newfound wealth, they must confront the challenges that lie ahead. This book serves as a lesson, a poignant exploration of futility. While their regular lives may have been marked by misery, the changes they face bring unexpected results, sometimes amusing, sometimes poignant. Elyssa Friedland’s latest read delves into the measure of their lives, challenging readers to contemplate the true essence of happiness and fulfillment.

Many thanks to Berkley and to NetGalley for this ARC for review. This is my honest opinion.

The Jacobson siblings lose their mother to lung cancer and after their father decides to move to another state, lose their family vacation home as well. While packing up their family belongings, a few of the siblings buy a lottery ticket. A few weeks later, they found out that they won over $250 million. The winnings change things for all the siblings and the winners/millionaires struggle to find common ground with the sibling that wasn't a part of it.

The themes of forgiveness, loyalty, and new beginnings resonate with the reader and it’s a fun read as well!

Thank you, NetGalley for this book!!

This is a perfect read for fans of family drama. I honestly expected it to be a lighter read, maybe because of the cover? However, what I found was authentic characters going through a rough time in their lives. They are all reeling from the loss of their matriarch and dealing with their own baggage.

When 3 of the 4 siblings go in on a winning Powerball ticket, they have high hopes for the possibilities the money allows for. However, as research shows, Powerball winners often have other struggles that the money brings around. The exploration of this aspect also adds to the heaviness and reality of the book.

Thank you, @berkleypub, for the opportunity to read and discuss this one for a @letstalkbookspromo #buddyread

The synopsis really drew me. I come from a family of five kids and thought I could relate to at least one of them - wrong.

It took so long to introduce each family member and their woes of financial need that I started skimming parts of it. Some of it had too much detail that just didn't help me care about them.

After they won the lottery, nothing really seemed to change - big surprise!

A fun summer family saga! I feel like Elyssa’s characters are always well developed and a joy to get to know. The plot idea for this had me excited to dive in and read it along with the audio version. I feel it fell flat in a couple of spots and could use more drama, but I still had fun with this!

Jackpot Summer by Elyssa Friedland is a women’s fiction story that takes a humorous family drama and mixes in some contemporary romance into it. The story in Jackpot Summer is one that does change the point of view between the characters during the story.

The Jacobson siblings grew up with parents who pinched pennies and knew the value of a dollar but they also enjoyed summers at their Jersey Shore beach house too. Now with all four siblings dealing with lives problems they all need to head to the family beach house and begin sorting through memories.

As Matthew, Laura, Sophie and Noah begin to pack they all wish they could change their father’s mind on selling. Each has too many other things in life though to put up much of a fight until Noah sees an ad for a Powerball drawing and on a whim three of the siblings pitch in for tickets and actually win the jackpot.

Jackpot Summer by Elyssa Friedland spun from the idea of lottery winners often find themselves blowing through their winnings or in worse shape than before the win. This idea wove into the story of these four siblings and their problems and how life was before and after the jackpot which lead to a lot of family drama that unfolds in a more humorous way than one would expect drama to which I really enjoyed and with a little romance on the side this made for a fun tale.

I received an advance copy from the publisher via NetGalley.

Thank you to the publisher for this advanced copy, but unfortunately, I chose to DNF this book. The chapters were far too long and not a lot happened. I found it difficult to get into the story and stay connected to the characters.

This is a character driven story about a messy family that gets more dysfunctional after a few of them win the lottery. I enjoyed reading about the siblings and their dynamics but I wanted there to be more to the book overall.

Read this if you like:
- messy families
- adult siblings
- lottery winners and the aftermath

Thanks to NetGalley and Berkley for this eARC. Jackpot Summer is out now.

This could have been more enjoyable if it was cut down by a little bit. This is lots of family drama, but I had a lot of mixed feelings about this one!

Loved this one. The siblings' relationship is what I always imagined it would be like if I had that many. There is love but also drama and tension at times.

I love the way the author played out the lottery win, and the way it came to a close by the end of the story. Perfect beach read.

I sincerely appreciate the author and NetGalley for the review copy.

I fear that this was not the book for me. Full of useless drama and annoying characters. Everything always seems to go to hell when the matriarch dies.

Thanks to the publisher for the gifted e-copy.

This is a family drama surrounding a group of siblings that win the Powerball - minus one sibling that didn't want to go in for a ticket. Obviously this causes issues, both among the four siblings, for each personally, and with their dad (who was the best part of the book).

The beginning dragged for me, but it picked up towards the end when the siblings actually started communicating and resolving their issues.

Not much else to say. I really enjoy this author, but not my favorite by her. 3.5 stars.

I just love reading about messy fiction books. It's always so good to read because it always brings out some emotions. And this book doesn't disappoint. It brings the messiness to a T when this family wins the lottery. Expect what you are expecting, but much more. Money doesn't always solve everything. That's something that they are going to realize as they go through it.

A fun summer read! Loved the family dynamics in this one. Definitely made me think about how similar situations would play out amongst my own siblings.

I love Elyssa Friedland's writing style! The plot of Jackpot Summer sucked me in right away and I found myself connecting to each of the siblings in different ways. It made me not want to put the book down in seeing how they would resolve the jackpot winnings and get what they wanted in life.

A huge thanks to Berkeley Publishing for my complimentary copy and all opinions expressed are mine.

Nothing shows someone's true characters than money and this happens to four siblings. The Jacobsons siblings life changes when the siblings enter a Powerball drawing and win. Siblings rivalry surfaces ,past pain resurfaces and family secrets resurfaces. This book examines how far a family will go when money is involved. A must read!

The Jacobson siblings (all previously known as the “Fantastic Foursome” by their dearly departed mother) have been thick as thieves despite age gaps, tax brackets, parenting styles, career paths, etc. But when they take a gamble and buy a few lottery tickets for a Megamillion on a whim . . . and then WIN . . . the newly coined “Jackpot Jacobsons” find their relationships put to the test.

I almost read this in time for Pub Day, but alas I still suck. Good news is it’s now out so if you were just waiting with bated breath to see my opinion, you can go pick up a copy now ; ) I love a good family story. I don’t care if it’s full of stabbies, full of drama or just a feel good one like this – I’m always down. Each sibling has various chapters dedicated to their individual goings on, they were all well developed and each charmed a place in the black pit which is my heart. I also just now realized I’ve read this author several times and have enjoyed every one of her books so consider me a fan (if my old lady brain can remember her name next time). Oh, and there was a house on the cover + it was "cartoony" so DUH of course I was going to read it.

3.5 Stars and rounding up.

ARC provided by the publisher in exchange for an honest review.

Siblings and family drama novels have been finding their way to me lately and I can’t complain! I will start off saying that I was fully invested in these siblings life, each one of them with their own problems regardless of winning the lottery. Loved the integration of the chat which is absolutely relatable. Overall, I nice story full of juicy gossip and drama
