I wish I could say I liked this but something was missing. The characters were *almost there* but also very hollow at the same time, and the pacing of the tension felt poorly timed. KBR are great writers but sadly this just missed the mark in engaging the reader

2.5⭐️i was not a big fan unfortunately😭i think the plot had so much potential (it’s kinda giving mafia vibes) but the dialogue was cringey — “okay judgey mcjudgey” PLS. i felt like there was no chemistry between the two main characters and just a bunch of side plot?? i’m sad. i wanted to like her so bad im sorry🥲

This was one wild ride of a book, full of so much drama, and I was really invested in this story and our characters. I honestly just had such a fun time with this one, and I really cannot wait for the second book! I was drawn in from the beginning and did not want to stop reading until I got to the end. The chemistry between the two main characters was undeniable. There were a few moments where I wanted a little more explanation, or more resolution, but overall, it was really solid!

I was surprised how much I loved this one after hating the Addicted series! The chemistry between the main characters is addicting and the plot is fast paced and easy to read. I can’t wait to read the next one after that cliffhanger!

This was one of my highly anticipated reads this year ever since I finished the addicted series. This books is so unique and addictive. You are dropped right into the story of phoebe and Hailey, two best friends who grew up learning how to con people. They have decided to step away and start a new, honest life. However, they never expected her brother Rocky to join them. The friendship between the two girls is beautiful. They take care of each other and are fiercely loyal. The flashbacks were so interesting and cons were so much fun to read bout because you want them to be successful.
The romance was chiefs kiss. It’s built upon years and years of building tension and hidden feels. But there are twists and turns that prevent them from being together.
And that end! The plot twist in the very few last chapters made me wish the next book was out already. As soon as it’s announced, you know I will be picking it up.

This is the first book I’ve read by Krista & Becca Ritchie (Addicted/Callaway series is long!!) When I saw the sign-up for arc for this one I knew I had to read it!

We have Hailey and Phoebe, besties for life but they’ve had enough of the con life style and decided to start over, somewhere new without the lies.

The found family between the two families in this just makes your heart burst. It’s given touch anyone and die vibes! Everyone is so protective of each other.

The chemistry between Phoebe and Rocky can be seen from a mile away! Love them both! I liked the flashback scenes, we got to see past jobs they’d done added to the characters' backstories.

I’ve never read anything about Con artists before so I enjoy the fresh element from that.

A few plot twists! What is up with the cliffhanger at the end!! I need to book two ASAP!

I didn’t have many expectations going into this book as this was my first con artist type of trope and I really enjoyed it and found it difficult to put it down. Dishonestly Yours follows two best friends (mainly Phoebe) who each come from a family of con artists, who are wanting to lead an honest life. Theres only one problem, and his name is Rocky.

I loved getting to know about Phoebe and Rocky, they are the definition of complex and messy relationships. Talk about angst, this had ALL the angst and tension!
I feel for Phoebe; after hearing her role in the family business, my heart broke for her. I love watching Phoebes growth and can’t wait to read more about her.
Rocky is so loyal to those he loves and would do anything for his family. I love how he didn’t particularly agree with Haileys plan but did everything he could to ensure she succeeds.
I loved all of the side characters, especially Hailey and Oliver. I can’t wait to read more about them all!

The last 10% of that book was crazy! I actually did not expect one of the things that happened and now I’m going to be sitting here VERY impatiently waiting for the next book.

I will read whatever they write!!! Being back in a whole new world with them is EVERYTHING. I’m already obsessed with the plot and these characters and where it’ll go. The romance is everything and so is the found family to come from it.

I don’t think this author is for me. I really couldn’t get into these characters or vibe with the story. I think it might work for a younger audience (college age)

Such a fun, entertaining, wild, chaotic book! I had the best time reading Dishonestly Yours and really enjoyed the story, characters & plot.

I’ve never read anything like this before and I was so invested in the drama. I felt like the book itself was so creative and out of the box for KBR! It was so addicting and I ate up every single page. KBR never disappoints with their complex characters and unique personalities. They always create the most interesting people that you inevitably fall in love with or root for. I loved Phoebe so much. She is such a headstrong, brave fmc and her dynamic with rocky was EVERYTHING. I loved rocky and his heart. The way he so fiercely cares for those he loves and the ability to do anything for them was just so perfect to see.

I really liked the flashbacks we got because I felt as though they added so much depth to not only the characters but the story itself. The friendship between Phoebe and Hailey was so sweet and I can’t wait to see more of them. The cliffhanger was so good and caught me by surprise. I am so invested in this series & I can’t wait to read book two ♥️

This book? Nothing but drama and I devoured every page of it.

Phoebe grew up in a family of con artists where learning new aliases and going under cover was the name of the game. When things go awry Phoebe and her friend Hailey call it quits and move to a small town to settle in. The problem? They have no clue host survive outside of their con artist ways.

Rocky, the love interest in this story, is charming even if he is abrasive and beyond annoying. I loved seeing their relationship grow as they got older through the flashbacks and I really appreciated the tension that you could cut with a knife.

In all honesty, I didn’t expect to enjoy this as much as I did. I thought it would be one of those trashy romances — and it was full of drama, but reader, I ate it up.

The book follows Phoebe, who grew up in a family of con artists. Throughout her life, she’s moved from place to place, taking on whatever identity her parents have assigned to her. The same goes her best friend Hailey, who had the same upbringing as her with her parents. Together, the two families are always on the run, assigning their kids different roles to squeeze as much as they can out of their targets. After a job goes horribly wrong, however, Hailey and Phoebe are done, and they decide to escape to a small town in Connecticut without telling anyone. But it’s hard to do, when they don’t know anything anything about living a normal life, and when they’ve pretended to be so many people they don’t even know who they really are. To make matters even more complicated, Hailey’s older brother Rocky insists on coming with them, and he’s always made Phoebe’s life messy, in more ways than one.

I was really surprised by how much I loved the romance. While I enjoy contemporary romance as a genre a lot, I’ve always preferred the more innocent, quiet, angsty friends-to-lovers trope. This book is definitely not that; Rocky is arrogant and annoying…but I ended up finding him so goddamn charming. And even then, because Phoebe and Rocky have known each other for so long, we still got something that felt quite similar to my favorite trope. We still got tension and we still got yearning, and I loved seeing how their relationship had changed from the flashbacks in their younger years, to today, and how it was molded by their upbringing.

The plot is pretty outlandish, but I loved every second of it, from the tension of Phoebe and Hailey trying to hide their pasts from their new neighbors, to the gradual reveal of what old con jobs looked like, especially the one that went so badly it changed everything. The present plot of Phoebe and Hailey trying to live normal lives as the threat of their family coming after them looms over their heads adds a layer of tension throughout the book, and while it’s a pretty slow build-up, it’s so worth it by the end.

The writing style is straightforward but still interesting, and it definitely kept my attention. This isn’t my normal type of reading, but this has totally changed my mind and I can’t wait to see where the story goes from here.

Dishonestly Yours" by Krista and Becca Ritchie is a gripping and emotional journey that captivates from the first page. As my first book from this duo, I was impressed by their dynamic storytelling and compelling characters.

The protagonists, whose paths cross under unexpected circumstances, are flawed yet relatable. The intricately woven plot, filled with twists and turns, keeps readers on edge. The suspense is masterfully built, with secrets unraveling to maintain intrigue.

Krista and Becca Ritchie's engaging and evocative writing style effectively conveys intense emotions and natural dialogue. Themes of trust, redemption, and human relationships are handled with sensitivity, providing a thought-provoking experience.

However, the detailed character development occasionally slows plot progression. Additionally, the "cons" the characters pull put me at unease, detracting slightly from my enjoyment. Despite these reservations, "Dishonestly Yours" remains a heartfelt and engaging novel.

If you're looking for a book with both suspense and heartfelt moments, "Dishonestly Yours" is a great choice.

I honestly had no idea what to expect coming into this book. As a dear crazy enthusiast of the core eight, I knew NOT to compare this book to that series especially with the plot being so different. And it was SO right not to, because this book surprised me, but in such a good way.

Not going to lie, starting, I was A LITTLE CONFUSED!! Like I read the synopsis and everything, but it took me a few chapters to get into the groove of the plot and characters of the book. After I wrapped my head around it, the story became A LOT more interesting and fun to read. I could tell (just like Addicted to You) that this would be a series. This first book felt like the foundation of a very winding plotline. Regardless, I really enjoyed learning and familiarising myself with all the characters and UGH I can already see the found family trope developing and it's just one of my favourite things to read about!!

Rocky and Pheobe...I LOVED THEMM!! I think Krista + Becca gave enough background on their relationship to understand their connection, but not enough straight away to create suspense and tension. I can already see myself falling in love with them in the books to come, I just already want more of them!! And the rest of the characters, each had their own personality quirks and quips, which I also loved reading about. Based off previous reading experience, I know that Krista + Becca are more character-oriented writers, which is actually my preference. However, I do know some reader's prefer plot-oriented books. SO, I am here to preface that this book is quite character-oriented, however the plot-line does make it quite interesting as well.

The reason why this book is a solid four stars to me, is because it very much felt like a first book in a long series. There wasn't enough 'plot' and 'romance' for me to feel a personal attachment to the characters and book because I know Krista + Becca want to build on that in the books to come. On the other hand though, it left me feeling a bit empty when I finished the book. I honestly do wish the book was a bit longer as it felt like quite a bit of fluff and 'beating-around-the-bush' for quite a few scenes. AND I JUST WANTED MORE ROCKY AND PHEOBE SCENES :(

HOWEVER, i do understand that this will be a series, which is why I am not entirely upset about it. I honestly did enjoy the book ALOT. It'd be hard not to enjoy something Krista + Becca wrote if I'm being honest. But I'm even MOREE excited to read the second book. I can 100% see myself falling in love with the characters and books just like the core eight.

loved everything about this book. I’m a sucker for “it’s always been you” and that is exactly what this book gave me. rocky and phoebe have ALWAYS been each others. I love how they both see each other. The shift between past and present was so good, it kept me on my toes and had me wondering what was happening and how everything would play out. Also the ending???? I cannot wait for book 2!! Pick this book up immediately

There is just something about Krista and Becca Ritchie’s writing and characters that hook me every single time. I have been a fan of the Addicted/ Like Us series since early 2019 and they just never seem to miss for me. They know how to make characters that feel real. If you are looking for a romance you can lose yourself in, Dishonesty Yours may be for you.

Rocky and Phoebe’s love/hate relationship keeps the tension at 100. The forbidden love has twist since the characters do want to be together but don’t for external reasons.

Plot-wise, this was fun. I’m sure some of it doesn’t make 100% sense, but there weren’t any gaping holes that I noticed.
Weaving the back story in through flashbacks helped to build the history between all of the characters. Often, for childhood-to-lovers or second-chance tropes, it require the reader to just accept that the characters had chemistry and a long history but little is shown on page. But Rocky and Phoebe’s history and relationship felt real.
The family dynamics among all of the Tinrocks and Graves gave a lot of depth to the story. Both main characters and supporting characters had a lot of internal conflict about their lives and careers, which made everyone feel more complex and dimensional. Personally, I find that characters feel the most realistic and interesting when they are a little gray; not all good, not all bad.
Overall, I had a great time and couldn’t pull myself away. 4.25/5 stars
