“Lust is too ruthless, and love is too tender”.
When I went to Love Y’all Fest this year, the lines for Krista and Becca Ritchie were out the door! I had never read one of the books, but I knew I needed to after seeing the hype. So when I found out there was a new series starting (you know I’m a series sucker) I figured this would be the perfect time!
I love a con artist background in a book. I love seeing the web of lies (no pun intended for this spider) they weave and how they masterfully get out of it. I also really like how angsty and messy this book is. Cause y’all, it is capital “M” messy. But it’s life. It’s not cookie cutter and I like it a lot. I was a little on the weary side for the target demographic as it teeters between YA, NA, and adult, but regardless, I liked it.
Audio is the way to go. It’s dual POV chapters and we get dual narration. Loved this combo of Aaron Shedlock and Carly Robins. I think they really brought out these characters.
Overall, a hit for me. I like how the series started and can’t wait to see what happens next. Out today!
QOTD: Any 4th plans? (To my Canadian friends, did you do anything fun on Canada Day?)
I received a copy of this book from the publisher/author to review for Stephanie's Book Reports.
This is the story of Phoebe and Rocky. I love a book where you gain a found family. This one has that in it and so much more. Now I will warn you that this book might start out slow for you. It could have been me and my mood, but I did find it hard to get into a first. I am so glad that I didn't lay it down and kept going. From that point where It started to pick up for me was when I really got invested in these characters. I don't even know how to review this book. I sure don't want to give anything away. This story revolves are changing your life. Reinventing yourself in some way and the temptation to go back to what you know is right in front of your face. There is a lot on the line, some serious stuff on the line. This book has it all. Twists and turns. Lies and manipulation. Deception is a living breathing thing in this book. I could not lay it down once it picked up. You do not want to miss this book. You can fall in love with these characters and be just as invested in them as I am.
Dishonestly Yours was a very intriguing and enjoyable read. The characters, romance and premise were highly entertaining. This is the first book in the Web We Weave series and was honestly just a great start.
It is dual POVs of the main characters, Rocky and Phoebe, and there are some great tropes like, best friend’s brother, both grumpy characters, it’s always been you, con artists families, and a wealthy coastal town.
I would recommend checking the content and trigger warnings before reading just in case, as there were mentions of sexual assault.
The overall premise was highly entertaining and unique. I loved the con artist aspect and the characters trying to leave that life behind. There were a lot of complex, interesting and intense moments. As well as some amusing, sweet and heartfelt ones. All the side characters were interesting and the found family aspect was beautifully written.
Both Rocky and Phoebe had such interesting storylines and backgrounds. Their complex feelings towards their family, the conning, and their romance were perfectly explored and written.
The romance between Rocky and Phoebe was very intense, passionate and angsty. Their development was very much a slow burn but filled with a lot of sexual tension, devotion and love. The way that they supported and fought for one another was just amazing. The open door spice did not disappoint as well.
I will say though, some aspects that I struggled with this book was the constant push and pull from Rocky. At times his attitude and stubbornness got a bit frustrating. Additionally, the first half of this book was quite slow paced and didn’t pick up until the middle and ending.
The last few chapters were high stakes and intense. There were a lot of moving components and unanswered questions. This book does leave off an a cliffhanger, which I was not expecting but thoroughly enjoyed.
Overall, just a fantastic start to a new series with some amazing characters and a unique premise.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for providing me with an ARC in exchange for my honest review.
I’m intrigued by the start to this new series, though this one definitely feels like it takes a long time to set the stage with our characters, which detracted from the story for me. It’s one part buddy story and one part romance. You have Phoebe and Hailey, BFFs who are moving away and trying to go straight from the con life, and you have Phoebe and Rocky, sometime con partners and romantically entangled and off-limits at the same time. Phoebe is the feminine bait in all their cons, and it’s almost a relief for her to have a chance to be normal for once and have a mundane job, no matter how stressful it is. Hailey is the goth-appearing girl, who is secretly a sweetheart. She does the recon on the jobs. Rocky is Hailey’s brother. He’s cynical, but he’s fiercely protective, and there’s no way he’s going to let the girls do this on their own with no support—without the ‘family team’ that normally surrounds them or the financial means. Seeing the history between Rocky and Phoebe play out against the present made me root for them even harder. You just want them to make it work. There’s also the fantastic ‘con family’ they’re all a part of. The six of them, three siblings in each actual family, are so supportive. They’re unwilling to let it go when the girls disappear to the other side of the country, dogging them and showing up on their doorstep. They’re the family who will step up for you, protect you, and fight for you. I can’t wait for more of the entire cast.
I was so excited when I got the ARC for this book because Krista and Becca are the authors of my all-time favorite series!
This was a great introduction to what I’m sure will become another one of my favorite series. The writing was incredibly engaging, and the plot was so fun! I haven’t read a book quite like this before. I loved every character, especially the friendship between Phoebe and Hailey 🥺. The tension and angst that built up between the main characters was perfectly executed, and the little bit of spice we did get was perfection. The drama, characters, plot, and banter was everything!!!
I can’t wait to see where this series goes. The ending!!!!!! I need the second book now!
Thank you, Berkley and NetGalley, for an ARC 🍓🤍

“I’ve always been dishonestly yours. And it looks like that’s not changing.”
When I read the synopsis for this book I immediately knew it was right up my alley. I expected angst, tension, banter, and of course Krista & Becca Richie delivered. Phoebe is tough and self assertive, yet vulnerable and insecure about her role in the cons, which honestly pulled at my heartstrings reading about it. Similar to Phoebe, Rocky is rough on the outside and clashes with her like no other, but deep down he has a soft spot for Hailey and Phoebe (WHICH I LOVE). I am so excited to not only follow their love journey/hardships, but also their relationships amongst family and friends in the next books.
Thank you so much Valentine PR, NetGalley, and Berkley Publishing Group for sending me an e-arc!!!

4 ⭐
Despite being exploited for her looks, Phoebe is strong and resilient. It was so sad reading all of the exploitations that they used her for. Meanwhile, Rocky is cynical, protective and prioritizes those he cares about. His actions speak louder than words.
Phoebe and Rocky's connection holds undeniable beauty. Mutual feelings and fear of consequences create a push-and-pull dynamic, keeping them tethered despite the distance.
My favorite part is how tight-knit their group/bond is since childhood! Their loyalty is unwavering, supporting each other through thick and thin.
Overall, loved this book and excited for the upcoming books!
5 stars!!!
tropes: childhood love, con artists, best friends brother, storm clouds
THIS WAS INCREDIBLE. It completely sucked me in from the start and did not let go of me for a second! Rocky & Pheobe had so much tension and their story goes so deep- I can't wait to see what the rest of the series brings!
A bit about the book: Rocky & Pheobe grew up together as part of two tight-knit con artist families but attaching strings to each other is quickly realized as a nonoption. The pieces of themselves they've tried to detach from each other grow bigger. When a con goes wrong and sends Pheobe & her best friend to a rich small town in CT, Rocky tags along to keep his role as their protector.
The depth of their story is INSANE. I have never felt so stressed but so excited to be there in my life!
Dishonestly Yours ✰✰✰✰✰
Happy pub day to Dishonestly Yours 🥳 This book is for lovers of the Addicted Series or someone who wants to be on the edge of their seat during the entire read. The plot, the characters, the romance, the careers 👀 —absolutely addicting
Phoebe and Hailey are best friends, and both are the daughters of con artist families. One day, they decide enough is enough and decide to leave the life of crime. In doing so, they have to cut off their families. Except, that doesn’t go according to plan, because Hailey’s older brother, Rocky (swoon), catches up with the duo and refuses to leave them.
This book is the first of the Webs We Weave series + it was such a hit. I need the rest of the series immediately. I quite literally cannot stop thinking about these characters (nor would I want to).
I can’t wait to compare my arc copy against the published copy so I can share my quotes with y’all. Such beautiful + captivating writing 💖
Dishonestly Yours has an interesting storyline and that is why I wanted to read it. I liked the relationship between Phoebe and Rocky although at times it seems a bit wishy washy. I think I was hoping they would make the leap towards a relationship a bit quicker. And then there was Jake. I also enjoyed the support and close friendship between Phoebe and Hailey. They always had each others backs and allowed each other to drive their friendship forward at different times in their lives. For all three characters the push to change their lives to honest work versus the pull of family and what they have always known was what I thought was the most important part of the story.
In the end I enjoyed but didn’t love the book. I found that dragged on a bit at times which made it difficult to stay engaged.
Absolutely brilliant!!! My favourite romance read of the year so far 🍓🌊🕷️ 5/5 ⭐️
I wasn’t sure what to expect with this book, but it blew me away. The storyline follows Phoebe and her friend Hailey, who are both born into con artist families, fleeing town and trying to life a ‘normal life’ without conning. And guess who tags along? Hailey’s older brother, Rocky 🤭
The plot twists and turns were perfect and the angst between Phoebe and Rocky was everything. I desperately need more of them.
This book was so unique and written in such an engaging way I couldn’t put it down. I was not bored for a second. It started off with a bang and finished with one (that cliffhanger!!)
If you’re looking for something new and refreshing this is it!!
This is the first in a new series, and what an amazing story these authors have weaved a compelling and intriguing story!
Phoebe and Hailey are best friends and from different con families, and when a high stakes con goes wrong, they decide to run to where they can get a fresh start. Rocky is Hailey’s grumpy older brother, and when he catches up with them, he decides to stay with them.
This is a well written easy to read story which has family, friendships, drama, angst, fake dating, emotions, deception, secrets, combustible chemistry, humor, witty banter, and love, which leads to an entertaining, small town romance.
I look forward to reading more from these talented authors’ whose work I highly recommend.
Rating: 3,5☆

⬥︎ I have mixed feelings about this book. I've never read a story like this before, and the Ritchie sisters have a way of gripping you from beginning to end.
⬥︎ Phoebe is a strong and resilient character. I really liked her perspective on life. She's someone who only sees the good in people, believes in family above all else, and has yet to discover herself outside their group. I think her journey will be a hell of a ride. Her character goes through a lot, and it's difficult not to feel sorry for her and want to give her a big warm hug.
⬥︎ Rocky, despite being a bit cynical, is the one who sees things as they really are, having learned that the hard way. Even though he's rough around the edges, he has a big heart and will do everything to protect his family.
⬥︎ Despite enjoying this book, I felt that at a certain point, the story became stagnant, and the "will they, won't they" dragged on a bit. However, I loved the glimpses we had into their past, which gave us a better understanding of their world and showed how close they all are.
⬥︎ Overall, it was a really good read, and I'm very curious about how the series will progress, as not everything is as it seems.
The way I’m already obsessed with this series. The characters are hilarious, the storyline is captivating and that cliffhanger was rude but I cannot wait for the next book
Thank you valentine pr for the ARC
This book was definitely different from the Addicted series with what looks to still feature the Addicted World. The ending caught me off guard and I want to find out what happens next.
WOW! Just wow!
The banter. The tension. The high stakes I WAS LIVINGGGG for it all in this book!
Every character in this book is so carefully crafted and carries their own personal convictions & charm so independently! You can really feel how close knit the two families have molded themselves together and I love how the cast has been set up for future books!
The banter/tension is SO 👏🏻 GOOD 👏🏻 just when you think everything will culminate into a cresting moment, it’s snatched away into a back pocket to taunt you again at a later time in an absolutely delicious way!
The plot was paced well within the writing although there is a lot going on: moving parts between timeline, past character figures, current standings, etc. so it can feel a bit muddled if you’re not rly locked in while reading.
Final thoughts: Rocky. just Rocky…love that man 🫶🏻 i Adored his povs so so much and will be buying a physical copy immediately to transfer every quote of his I highlighted…and I highlighted a lot lol
book two pls 🤲🏻
read if you like:
— family drama
— morally grey mcs
— best friend’s brother
— forbidden attraction
— love triangle (?)
— fake dating
This was my first KBR book and it did not disappoint! Their writing is so entertaining & engaging. Dishonestly Yours pulled me in from the very beginning!
The book starts with Phoebe & her best friend, Hailey, moving to a new town. They are both determined to flee their con-artist families and start fresh. Rocky, Hailey’s brother, decides to come along with them.
I LOVED reading both Rocky and Phoebe’s point of views (past and present). Their relationship is nothing less than complicated. They’ve grown up together in the con-artist world and have been friends, siblings, married, enemies, lovers, and everything in between (whatever they needed to do for the con job they were on). The tension & angst between these two…Shew! 🥵
I’m invested in these characters & cannot wait to see where this series takes me! Can I have the second book now please?!
High angst and addictive. I truly enjoyed this story. The angst, tension, banter, and desire between the grumpy MFC, Phoebe, and the grumpy antihero MMC, Rocky, is superb. I adored seeing Phoebe and Rocky's relationship develop. I enjoyed the mysterious aspect of the book when giving details about Phoebe's past. I was hooked because I had to know what happened. The last bit of the book I was completely engrossed in as the story started to unravel and I was surprised with how the book ended. I have high hopes for the next book with how this book left off. Fantastic story and would definitely recommend it.
Dishonestly Yours follows Phoebe and her best friend Hailey, they come from two con families. They are finished with the life of crime and move to a small town in Connecticut without telling anyone. Rocky, Hailey's older brother finds them and tags along to keep an eye on them. Phoebe and Rocky have a very complicated history, which makes it difficult for them to be together and for them to form a relationship with anyone else. Even though Phoebe and Hailey agreed they were going to be living an honest life now, Phoebe finds it difficult to not fall into past behaviors.
