This is a really cute manga. It is very predictable but I'm still a fan. I love our two characters, Kai and Ren. They are so completely oblivious of the other's feelings. But eventually one of them confesses and their friendship is put to the test. Overall, if you are a romance fan I think that you'll like this sweet manga.
I am officially a fan of this woman. While it is true that you can already see what stories to expect from her, this time she did much better than the previous time. It's the typical love story of childhood friends in which one turns out to feel something more for the other, but she worked it in a way that makes it feel new.
Nagisa's art also improved in this volume, giving more life to the characters and better working on the atmosphere in different scenes. There were emotional moments that felt genuine enough to make me hold my breath. All the details are well taken care of, giving a more solid result.
I feel like the story could have given more of itself in some way. Either being a little more extensive, although not a series of several volumes, or with something that makes it more original. Don't get me wrong: I like some clichés if they're done well, and Nagisa undoubtedly nailed that with this story, but it was missing something extra to give it more personality.
With all this, it's a beautiful story of self-discovery, honesty, friendship, and fears. I liked both Ren and Kai as characters, and the development was better than before. It's a perfect read to daydream for a long time and let yourself be carried away by the emotions that sometimes remain hidden. Definitely recommended.

Kai and Ren have always been best friends who sat next to one another, and flirted for the entertainment of their friends. But is it really all for show?
This wasn't an especially deep manga, but it's sweet and fairly enjoyable with a good range of characters. Gave me exactly the warm feelings I wanted it to.
I haven't read a manga in a really long time, and I forgot how much I enjoy them! I'm a sucker for the friends to lovers trope and My Ultramarine sky didn't disappoint. It was a very cute read. Thank you to NetGalley for the opportunity to read it!
My Ultramarine Sky is about 2 best friends that have been together since middle school and for most of high school, that are in separate classes for the first time ever. This new situation only reaffirms to Kai that he is and always has been in love with his best friend. Ren on the other hand is clueless and confused. But an accidental confession makes both boys reevaluate what they are to each other.
As much as I love Nagisa Furuya's brand of shounen-ai, "school boys fall in love" stories, they can feel repetitive and don't really stand out. So when I want a light, story of high school boys discovering their feelings for each other they will be my go to and my recommendation but honestly their stories and art are starting to run together. ⭐️⭐️⭐️
Thank you to Netgally and the publisher for this ARC.
Honestly, this manga is just uneventful. The characters aren’t compelling. The only character I found interesting was the side character, Kaname Tajima. He is the only character who wasn’t a carbon copy of many other tropes I’ve read before. This story is one I’ve read 100 times. There absolutely nothing different about it.
The artwork was gorgeous, the side characters were interesting even in such a short manga, and the highlight was the adorable couple of Kai and Ren. These longtime friends were clueless and the last to know their true feelings for each other. Thankfully they had a good friend in Kaname who was very helpful in getting them together.
I received a digital copy of this manga from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
"My Ultramarine Sky" is a charming story about two childhood friends, Kai and Ren, who were placed in different courses after years of being together.
Although plot-wise it's nothing new, it has a bittersweet taste that makes this manga stand out: the feeling that they might drift apart.
I enjoyed Ren's part of the story more, it feels like there was more growth. It's not that Kai hasn't changed during the story, but he starts in a better place, so his development is smaller.
Overall, a very sweet read with beautiful art. Highly recommended.

Nagisa Furuya's mangas are just a breath of fresh air when you need them. I've loved every manga I've read by them so fair and this one does not disappoint!
My only complaint would be I wish this book was longer and we could get more insight into their friendship and then into their relationship. I would even love more chapters on their friends! But for being a short one book BL romance, it's still so incredibly good and we still get great, fleshed out characters. I love how realistic these characters are and the struggle of realizing you're in love with your best friend.
I cannot wait to read more by this author!
this was a very short, very cute story.
Friends to lovers where they are both oblivious of the other one feeling.
great drawings!
Thank you to Kodansha Comics and Netgalley for the opportunity to read and review this manga. I will be honest; I think that this is a manga that is really beautiful in artstyle but in plot.... meh unfortunately. It seems very stereotypical soft boy energy but with some weird BL bullying. Overall, though, I am curious to see what happens next with the next volume. Because of these points, I have to give this a 3 out of 5 stars
This was a very cute and simply story. Nothing revolutionary but I enjoyed it well enough and read it in one sitting.
Thank you NetGalley for my ARC!!
I really love this mangaka’s work. I love how heart-twinging the plot is cause you really never know what you’ve got until you’ve lost it—absence makes the heart grow fonder and it’s especially true for people experiencing one-sided love.
It was a nice and cute reading. We get to se the story between the boys from their childhood to be young kids and how is their friendship anf all of that was cute and good to see.
It was good to see how the romantic feelings of the main character affects him and the friendship and his reaction or actions on it. I thought it was well written, and poor boy he suffered I felt bad for him.
In this manga e didn't only see one view of point but the other boy too and It was interesting to see the other perspective of the story and how slowly he discovered his feeling for the other boy.
heir relationship was so cute that made me feel warm.
And each of the boys had a nice personality, Kai is so sweet and his struggles with feeling was so real and at the other ed we have Ren that is calm and secretive beside with Kai where he let him do whatever.
Their friends were funny and through them we can see th erelationship between Kai and Ren with outside eyes, but would have preffered to see more about the friends so I hope in the future volumes we can see the dinamics of the friends.
Best friends start a new year in high school to find they don't have classes together. The separation leads both questioning if they want more from each other. BUT they don't tell the other!!! Possibly from lack of non-cis acceptance. A slow burn BL that makes you shout, "Just talk to each other!"
Cute highschool bl but I was a bit confused at times. It was like it was not translated with an english speaker in mind.
This is Nagisa Furuya's second manga. My Ultramarine Sky is about two highschool students who have been in the same class since middle school, but are put into separate classes during their third year of highschool and this distance threatens to have them drift apart.
This mangaka makes lighthearted and sweet bl stories, and while this was a bit more angsty with an initially one-sided love, the friends group brings a funny touch and that adolescence blue to every chapter.
Another sweet and cute highschool bl romance that I loved. This short story is easy to read and perfect for an evening lecture.
Thank you for the digital review copy, Netgalley, Kodansha Comics and Nagisa Furuya.
I have read My Summer of You and really enjoy Nagisa's art style and stories.
The Ultramarine Sky did not disappoint and I really enjoyed the story .
If you want a cute quick read this might be for you!
My Ultramarine Sky ended up being one of those books that surprised me in the end. For the majority I found myself confused if I liked it or not. But by the time we had hit the 80% mark I got the best coming of age vibes. The relationship which as slow as they come is almost perfect. With a few sidesteps here and there I couldn't help but love both of them.
For me personally when the book switches something up then the magic is really happening. So greatful to get to read it early. Will definitely pick up more from this author.
