I love summer camp stories and that was a huge draw to picking this one up especially a camp for adults! Camp is such a special time for many and the friendships made during camp can be so special. Those things are portrayed in this book really well. Loved the setting and the friendships. But wow, it felt so long. It dragged on and on even after the main issue was resolved. It could've been a 300 page book and we would've gotten the point. The two relationships also seemed kinda similar and listening to it on audio made me confuse them at times. Nothing really made either of them stand out, even the sparks. It was all kinda lukewarm. I prefer the focus to be on the friendships anyway but I really didn't feel much chemistry between the couples at all. This was a breezy read but there are other summer vibe books I'd recommend before this one.

Ali Brady’s newest book, Until Next Summer, shows that this writing duo just keeps getting better. Their previous novels The Beach Trap and The Comeback Summer had already made them auto-read authors for me, and Until Next Summer just reinforced their place on that list.

Jessie is the eternal camp kid—Camp Chickawah was her place of solace in a childhood torn between two divorced parents and their new families, and it’s still the center of her life and career as head camp director. That’s why she’s never understood why her former camp best friend, Hillary, didn’t step into a role as camp counselor back when they were teenagers. The moment she made that decision was when their friendship ended.

Now, Hillary has an incredibly successful career in the city and an impressive and parent-approved—if passionless—relationship. But she’s never forgotten the joy and freedom that she found at Camp Chickawah and with Jessie. She doesn’t think, however, that she’ll ever make her way back there.

Then, an opportunity arises.

The children of Camp Chickawah’s former owners have decided to sell the camp to a developer who’s going to tear it down. For the last summer before it’s destroyed, Jessie sets up a series of “adult” camps, designed for all of the kids-turned-adults who need Camp Chickawah in their lives again. And Hillary is one of them, running the arts and crafts program.

This fun premise sets up a fun, moving, fabulous novel that includes romance and friendship, characters finding themselves and each other, all the joy and nostalgia of summer camp, and even a sweet dog. Alternating between Jessie’s and Hillary’s point of view, the authors manage to share the desolation of a friendship lost and the hope that it can be rekindled. Yes, this is a steamy romance—and I loved watching both characters find their perfect matches—but I think the book’s centering of friendship is my favorite part.

Ali Brady's latest romance novel is perfect for readers who want a big heaping dose of summer camp nostalgia. For me, one of the most engaging aspects of the book is the vicarious experience of going back at camp. I really felt like I was there! The setting is not only a backdrop but functions as a character as well.
At its heart, this book is about the protagonists' journey to repair their broken friendship and save the summer camp. Hilary and Jessie's slow-burn, second-chance romances with Luke and Cooper will draw readers right in. The authors' skillful writing brings each of the characters to life on the page and their relationships feel super authentic.
For me, a couple of flaws stood out. One character displays anger issues that are a bit unsettling and detract from the overall enjoyment of the book. Additionally, some of the obstacles in the novel could've been conquered with a quick conversation, which I found a bit frustrating. I don't like when a failure to communicate is used as a plot device. Despite these minor issues, Until Next Summer is a delightful read. It's charming, and heartfelt and fans of emotional stories plus second-chance romance will enjoy the satisfying conclusion.

Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for the complimentary copy. All opinions shared here are my own.

This book has so much to love! It screams summertime.

Jessie is holding an adult summer camp, which sounds x-rated. Although things do get steamy, it’s about saving her beloved childhood camp.

Jessie calls in her friends with whom she grew up going to camp with to try to have one last summer at the camp before it is sold. She even breaks down and calls her ex-best friend, Hillary.

This story is full of camp life nostalgia: great food, skits, canoeing, campfires, and summer flings, all stirring up fond memories. (Even ticks in the most awkward of places).

As much as I loved the summer camp and its summertime vibes, the characters, friendships, and relationships were what glued me to the pages.

👯‍♀️Friends repairing their broken friendship
💕Former teen crushes blossoming into love
🎢Emotional roller coaster
🤝Working together as a team
🏕️Camp Life

This one had me feeling all the feels. A perfect summer read!

*insert that one song that they always play in camp movies* this was a fun one! I never had the summer camp experience but I must admit I wish I had after reading this one! Read if you like:
-Camp (duh)
-ADULTS at camp
-SAVE the camp (wow lots of camp themes lol)
-Rekindled friendships
-Dual perspective
-"Enemies"-to-lovers
-Friends-to-lovers
I love how we follow two protagonists who are living their own camp director lives but are also trying to rekindle the friendship they had while they were in camp themselves. I wish we'd focused a bit more on their friendship though; we get more of the romance and the camp plotlines than we do of them reuniting, which was disappointing because I love a good rekindled friendship story. I loved the camp setting, though, especially because all the present-day adult campers were campers as teenagers, so it allowed for some extra fun. Jessie and Hillary's respective romances were also sweet, and I really liked that they didn't piggyback off of each other but were their own storylines. Overall, definitely a fun summer read.

I really enjoyed this one! I loved Jessie and Hillary teaming back up to save their summer camp. I loved getting to read both of them discovering themselves, finding love, and reuniting as friends. This book had a great cast of loveable characters. It was an easy summer read.

OMG! This book was fantastic! I loved every second of it. It both made me wish I went to summer camp as a child but also that I need to find an adult summer camp to go to now. It's never too late to become a camp person!

There was a great balance of comedy and romance. I really enjoy the way Ali Brady writes their books. The duel POV's that bring two people together along with their own individual romance plots is "chef's kiss"! I don't know if I've ever read any other books that have this style of writing and I think that really lends to why I love their books so much.

I'm so glad I had the opportunity to read this one and to get to know Hilary and Jesse. We've all had a childhood friend who've we've lost touch with at some point in our lives. I know I have, and I've been lucky to reconnect with some of them as an adult. I thought the setting was well developed and I could really picture myself at Camp Chickawah!

This is a story about friendship new and old. The romance elements were so well done, and I would love to see this one come to life in an adaptation. The spice level was just right. I definitely recommend!!

I really enjoyed reading this book! I was hooked from the start and kept wanting to pick this book up whenever I had the chance. I am also really loving the summer camp theme books seem to be having lately. I really enjoyed all the characters in this book, especially the dog! This is the perfect book to read this summer. It will have you feeling nostalgic from your own camp days! I highly recommend checking it out.

You can always count on Ali Brady books to have the best friendships and the sweetest romance. Until Next Summer was no different. It was “Chicka-awesome”!

As a person who always wanted to go to camp, and is still holding out hope for an actual adult summer camp, this book hit the spot! It was fun, heartwarming, unputdownable, and I loved how transported to Camp Chickawah I felt. The descriptions and details were so vivid, I swear I could smell the sunscreen and deet. 😆

What I loved;

🛶 Second Chances
🛶 Found Family
🛶 Head Kisses
🛶 Dot
🛶 MN References
🛶 Jewish Rep
🛶 All The Feels

Until Next Summer was an absolutely delightful read about finding love, and finding yourself. This will surely be one the top reads of summer. Add it to your TBR and your cart now!

Jessie loves running Camp Chickawah! Growing up it was the only place that felt like home, and her choice to continue running the camp was fully based on that. When the owners kids decide they are ready to sell the camp, Jessie is heartbroken, but decides to make the last summer the best it can be by having several weeks of adult summer camp. When the crew comes together though, they realize that maybe this doesn’t need to be the last summer…can they save the camp?

So the camp thing seems to be a hot new book topic this year! I feel like there are so many books set at summer camp! It certainly reminds me of my days at camp which is so fun! I really enjoyed the relationship between Hillary and Jessie, though I did think their falling out years ago didn’t need to be such a friendship ender. I also loved the fight to save camp! I also always enjoy a good curmudgeon so you know I adored that aspect! Overall, I truly enjoyed this book, but I think this might be my last “camp being sold, trying to save the camp” book. I feel like I have read several of them recently, and while all different with their characters and friendships, I think I have hit my max on that topic.

Thank you to @BerkleyPub for my gifted copy of this book!

I adore an Ali Brady book. Until Next Summer is a love story to and for summer. It's made for anyone who ever sat by a campfire at summer camp. It's a warm story of love and friendship. And, I loved the nods to Brady's earlier book.

Many thanks to the author, publisher, and NetGalley for sharing this book with me. All thoughts are my own.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. All the main characters are well written and have depth that allows them to come to life in a way that I as a reader am automatically invested in. I think the premise is a super sweet one. As a reader some of the things that happen are easily predictable, however it didn’t upset me as I was glad about the outcomes. This is a lovely summer read. Perfect for camping or going to the beach. I think readers could easily take this to a book club as well and have a lovely discussion. I am looking forward to recommending this book soon.
Thank you to Berkly Publishing Group and Netgalley for allowing me to read an advance copy of this title.

Such a perfect summer read! I’m actually so jealous because I never experienced going to a camp like this lol. Also so interesting to have two female man characters! Some of my favorite tropes included such as grump/sunshine, found family and a little bit of spice. This is the first book I’ve read from this author and I will for sure be checking out some more!

It’s hard to write a whole book with two characters who are going through two separate journeys and not feel like you’re missing out on major plot points and also not reading a 600 page romance! But Ali Brady can do anything!!

This was such a nostalgic book full of camp memories, old friends and rekindled flames. It took a while to get into the main story of saving the camp, but it was so fun to see the passion Jessie had for her camp and all the activities she and Hillary put on for the campers.

The only weird part was including a restaurant and character from a Colleen Hoover book?? With no mention of thanks in the acknowledgements. I know the name Atlas and the restaurant BIBs is not a coincidence.

Read if you like:
🌶️ mild spice (2/5)
🏕️ camping
😤 grumpy/sunshine
🥵 reformed playboy/good girl
✌🏼 two main female characters

Alright this book was so cute. The camp setting was so fun and as a camp person myself, I would LOVE the chance to spend a week of the summer as a camper again.

There were a lot of emotional turns and backstories at play in this story and while most of them were settled during the book, not all of them were really flushed out. It seemed like a lot of revelations occurred with minimal work to get to the conclusions that each character got to by the end.

I also have to give mega kudos to the author's for responding to a random Instagram DM with a question that I NEEDED answered for my own mental health lol. So shout out for that transparency, the situation still made me cry, but I was prepared which helped.

Overall, definitely recommend this one for the summer!

This book is a treat and brings back so many memories. Even though I never actually went to camp I could envision absolutely everything the authors depicted.

The location and descriptions brought to mind vivid smells like bug spray, a campfire, and that musty cabin smell when you first open them up after the winter. Not to mention the best friends that you make summer after summer.

This book is a journey of the devotion of your life to one particular job that brings out the best in you. Happiness and joy; smiles of children experiencing life and growing each year.

It’s also a journey of friendships that come and go but still have that deep connection that can be found again and healed. It’s a journey of opening yourself up to the possibility of finding love, and happiness, plus finding a way to make your dream job become your forever job.

I love so many aspects of the story between the characters they developed especially the memories they invoked. We are treated to pranks, humor, grief, anger, and love. One thing that did get me was the character of Luke. It seemed he took so long to be a likable guy. However, the ending made it all right.

Until Next Summer is a delightful story of the richness of summer, the strength of friendship, living your life for yourself and finding love when you least expect it.

Wow, just wow. I am a first-time reader of [author:Ali Brady|21834049], and I was blown away. [book:Until Next Summer|199373689] takes you on a journey of self-discovery, belonging, connection, community, and relationships. Jessie and Hillary were best friends who looked forward to summers together at Camp Chickawah. A rift between Jessie and Hillary keeps them apart for ten years, that is until Jessie finds out the Valentines are selling the property. Jessie organizes one last summer with an “adult camp”. Previous campers come back, including Hillary, to relive the good ole' days.

There are many things I loved about this book: the beautiful story telling around what camp should be for kids and the hard work that goes into providing a safe and fun environment. The sense of community, traditions, and “being camp people”. The female friendships, empowerment, and breaking away from labels, gender roles, and expectations that keep you from being your true authentic self. The character growth. But the thing I loved the most about this story, is how the characters show the beauty of healing in safe spaces. You will laugh, cry, and have all the feels. And the Bib reference #iykyk

Thank you to Berkley Publishing @BerkleyRomance and Netgalley @Netgalley for this e-arc. This is my honest review.

The nostalgic vibes in this book will tug on your heartstrings all throughout your read!

Jessie and Hillary were summer camp BFFs, but haven’t seen each other in years. Their lives took different directions; with Jessie finding ways to make camp her whole life as the director, and Hillary as a business advisor. With a property sale looming, Jessie sets out to have one last epic summer, filed with adults who used to come to the camp as kids! Will these two long lost friends be able to reconnect?

This is the PERFECT summer read, especially if you plan to spend any time near a lake or a camp. I laughed, I cried, I cheered. All the emotions you could hope for in a swoony romance read.

Thank you to the authors and publisher for the gifted ARC
