Thank you to the author, Atlantic Publishing Group, Inc. and NetGalley, for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

This children's book is perfect for learning about discussion and compromise, and the overlap between imagination and practicality. The premise is very funny, and led us down a rabbit hole to find out more about rhinoceroses - very interesting and illuminating all-round as to why they don't make good pets - and both the kids and I enjoyed the humor and the illustrations. Highly recommend!

When his mother disagrees and points out all of the potential problems, the young boy begins to name off a series of animals including a whale, a tiger, a snake, a pig..until his mother finally relents for a dog.

This is a cute story - and the illustrations are amazing! I love the personality that each character (animals included) exude on the page. I can remember asking my own mother for a wolf as a child, and I too settled for a an incredible, shaggy dog. I also enjoyed the information at the back of the book about the animals mentioned in the story. This would be a great tool to transition into animal discussions and endangered species sessions in the classroom.

I laughed out loud when I saw this title, and the book did not disappoint. This little boy is so good at arguing for a pet hippopotamus, although I kind of wondered if he was playing the long game and actually wanted his mom to realize how reasonable it would be to get a dog compared to a hippo
The characters are loveable, the illustrations are simple and bright, and there is solid information about animals.
Thanks so much to NetGalley for letting me read this

A young boy was eager to get a pet not just any pet but a rhinoceros. He tried convincing his mother for the same but to no favor. He then asked for other animals for pet but all good for nothing,
There were lot more discussions on where to keep either of said pets and how to feed them, etc.
At last his mother get him an animal which suited best for him. To know which pet finally chosen by his mother go for this entertaining child fiction with amazing illustrations by Nana Melkadze. Also, at last a good brief intro on all discussed animals for the children considering their targeted reader who read to know about those animals also.

What a fun book with fabulous illustrations about a boy who wants a rhinoceros for a pet, but his mother says, "NO!" He suggests other wild animals instead, each time hearing his mother's strong reasons why not. At the end, they make a compromise in this charming book that will make both kids and adults guffaw. A gem!

Way back in 1953, a ten-year-old girl had a hit song called "I Want a Hippopotamus for Christmas," in which she sang about keeping her hippo in the garage where she would give him his massage. (Great rhyme, I thought.) She was full of reasons why a hippo would make a great pet, and though the listener never learned if she got her wish, some of us had our fingers crossed hoping that Santa would provide.

Here we have a little boy who's also dreaming of an exotic pet, and he has plenty of schemes that he hopes will encourage his mother to add a rhino to the household. Mom is the voice of reason, however, and she has plenty of facts as to why none of the little guy's proposals would work. Luckily, a compromise is reached, and there's a happy, though rhino-free conclusion.

This is a cute tale, made extra charming by Nana Melkadze's retro-looking digital artwork.

I enjoyed this story about a boy who wants a wild pet. His sensible mother explains how none of the wild animals he suggests would be right for them. The conclusion of the pet discussion was quite satisfactory and made me smile. Kudos to the excellent illustrator who brought a lot of humor to the story.

This is a cute story about a boy who wants a rhinoceros. His mother tells him no. So the boy suggests other animals, although he really wants a rhinoceros. His mom gives him lots of reasons why he can't have a rhinoceros. She suggests another animal instead. The illustrations are funny and animated. I definitely recommend this book.
