Surprisingly with how much I love medical shows, this was my first medical romance and I enjoyed it. What do you when you attend the charity event the hospital you work at throws every year and you accidently bid on the surgeon that has been deemed the "ice queen" of the hospital for $900? Well you go on the dates that are required of course. Regina and Ellie are the epitome of grumpy/sunshine and opposites attract and I adored them. There were some heartwarming moments and a few times I actually laughed out loud. This is definitely a slow burn as they get to know each other better but there's tons of angst between these two and I ate it up. There is one or two well written spicy scenes as well. Also let me note, that as a fan of Grey's Anatomy, I loved that Regina's nickname from the other staff members is "McIcy". I'll definitely be reading more books by Jae.

Read if you like:
*Grumpy x Sunshine
*Slow Burn
*Opposites Attract
*Workplace Romance
*No 3rd Act Breakup

TW: sibling death, drug addiction(side character), patient death, hospitals

Rating: 3.5 Stars

I received this Audiobook as an ARC from Netgalley in exchange for my honest opinion.

This book takes place in the medical field in a Midwest hospital and surrounding areas. This sapphic story is funny and a quick read!

One of the biggest components of the book that brought me joy was the inclusion and representation of the LBGTQIA+ community and more specifically the queer and enby communities. It also was fun that it took place in Kansas City since I’m originally a Northwest Missouri girl and I recognized many of the landmarks mentioned throughout the novel. I have since moved far away from home so it was nice and nostalgic for me!

This was a perfect combination of Grumpy x Sunshine and Sapphic, set in a medical scene (hospital) with coworkers!

Regina is seemingly cold and detached, while Ellie is warm, open and fun-loving. These two work together but “accidentally” get matched up in a date auction and after this, both hilarity and drama ensue! Add in Twinkies and Lava Cake (IYKYK), Disc Golf, Flannel (the Lesbian Uniform, of course), Axe Throwing, and a whole lot of slow burn that leads to HOT spice……this book is a MUST READ!

This book has everything! It’s deliciously romantic and loaded with the good tension, it’s laugh out loud funny and it’s vulnerable and sensitive all at the same time. Bachelorette Number 12 skyrockets to the top of my favorite Jae books.

I received an advance review copy for free from Netgalley and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

Ellie Fischer has a great job as a nurse even if she sometimes has to work with the ice queen of the Emergency Department, dr. Regina Novak. And even if Ellie finds her wildly attractive. When Regina unexpectedly participates in a singles auction for charity, Ellie can’t take her eyes off her. And then she accidentally places the highest bid. Oops. Ellie just bought herself two dates with the arctic empress of medicine.

Dr. Regina Novak has a lot of rules. The most important one: never mix her private life with her work life. When the pretty nurse Ellie wins her bid, Regina reluctantly sets out to go on the dates, but only because she is required to fulfill her obligations to the charity. So what if warmhearted Ellie can coax a real smile out of her. And so what if Ellie’s accidental touch send shivers to places they have no business going to. They WORK together for goddess sake!

I listened to the audiobook version. Lori Prince did a great job. I especially liked her expressions for Ellie. Her inner dialogue and awkwardness are hilarious.

I laughed out loud more than once, I blinked back a tear and was regularly frustrated with Regina like a good ice queen deserves. This book has it all. It’s such a scrumptious romance! Oh, and don’t even get me started on the Twinkie incident! Ohlala!

The way these two characters are dancing around each other makes for some top tier entertainment. It was great to meet up with some of my favorite characters from the Jae Universe. Leo and Holly and Sasha and Ashley, all still going strong in their little town.

Jae does what she does best: create lovable, realistic characters with relatable flaws that you can’t help but fall in love with. The only thing left to do is go out and get in your own bid on Bachelorette Number 12!

This was such a great slowburn romance! A disc golf lesbian doctor is definitely not the kind of representation you see often, and not something I knew I needed. If you're into gumpy/sunshine, accidental romance, and LGBTQ, this is for you!

Thank you NetGalley and Jae!

The audiobook doesn't play correctly. It repeats chapters over and over instead of moving to the next. Netgalley really wasn't any help with the issue. I didnt care for the person reading the audio. I mught enjoy it more as a book but i dont know. But as for the part of the book I did read. Ellie was super annoying and seemed immature. The relationship feels forced. From current standpoint I would not recommend this book to others.

I read and listened to this book. Lori Prince was perfect for the job. She captured Regina’s dry humor perfectly while also capturing Ellie’s softness.

I enjoyed this a lot! A good enemies to lovers vibe with a good buildup to the relationship and sexual tension. The characters were fun and realistic. Once they got together it veered into "we're in love and want to spend the rest of our lives together!" territory too fast for me but that's not uncommon unfortunately.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for a copy of this audiobook in exchange for an honest review.

Regina had me giggling! I adored her sarcasm and her deadpan humor. Ellie and Regina were such a cute couple and I loved them. They really complemented each other and their love story was so fun. This was a great romantic read.

Bachelorette Number 12 is a VERY slow burn. sapphic medical romance between icy Dr. Regina Novak and sentimental sunshine-y ED nurse Ellie Fisher. Regina finds herself roped into volunteering for the hospital's annual Valentine's Day singles auction while attendee Ellie accidently bids... on Regina. The two reluctantly agree to go on the auction's three dates that turn into a reluctant, sweet romance as Regina unpacks all of her past baggage in real time with Ellie.

This was a cute read but when I say VERY slow burn, I mean VERY. Considering the amount of emotional baggage Regina carries and deals with as a character, there is a LOT of back and forth between her and Ellie: Regina lets Ellie in a little bit, then backs off, then apologizes, and the cycle continues. I think the author could have restructured the plot and/or emotional baggage the characters were dealing with in order to shorten the story to fit closer around the auction's required dates, instead of dragging the plot out weeks/months after as the relationship between the two developed. While I was interested to see the conclusion of the story, I wouldn't say I was invested in the characters (although I will say that I appreciate Jae purposefully including non-binary and bisexual identities in this story, something I have found lacking in other queer novels).

Thank you to the publisher and to NetGalley for this audio ARC in exchange for an honest review.

This is my first book by Jae and definitely won't be my last! This is also my first full length sapphic novel and again, it will not be my last!

I loved the progression from strangers/not friends to the auction dates to maybe friends to a real relationship. Regina and Ellie were just so flipping cute together!

Both of them struggled with their own insecurities and I loved how eventually they were able to lean on each other for support during those times.

The narrator is one that I haven't heard of before, but really enjoyed the narration for both female characters!

Didn't love it. Didn't hate it. This is the second book I've read by Jae, and I just don't know that their writing is my cup of tea. The romance was cute enough, and I did like that it was a pretty cozy read. No dramatic breakups, just the two of them trying to figure out how they it into each other's lives.

thank you to NetGalley for an ARC of this book!!! (my first one ever!

I’m going to start off with what i liked in this book:
-the premise?!? love
- the logic for the forced proximity felt solid
- lesbian doctor so hot
- lesbians?!?? hello?!??
- really great characters building for the mc outside of the love story
- the trauma Regina experiences feels like the stakes are actually really important

over all, i felt like this book was cute and cheesy but not something I’d personally revisit. the love interests dropped the enemies to lovers bit almost immediately and they have no chemistry on the page besides being told they liked eachother. Regina was a weird one for me because lesbian doctor???? love. but she was oddly mean but full of herself but so self conscious about what people said about her which felt contradictory to what we’re learning about her. also the audiobook narrator dropped the ball with distinguishing the voices of the two women which is often a challenge in wlw audiobooks but it really hurt the book overall. i would happily check out more stuff by this author but this is a naur for me.

These two drive me crazy, in the best way.
Dr Regina Nowak and Ellie Fisher know each other and it's fair to say that neither would join the other's fan club.
They are simply too different and this becomes clear quite often at work.
Dr Nowak is an emergency room doctor and Ellie is a nurse.
Of course, these are basically two worlds, but that is not the problem.
Regina is cold. Ice cold, if you asked Ellie and many others in the emergency room.
She has her nickname which is very well known. Ellie is the complete opposite and they both clash very often and are simply annoyed by each other.
However, Ellie can't deny that Dr Mc Icy - looks extremely hot.
Especially when she suddenly stands on this stage to be auctioned off for a good cause and Ellie does something that she will regret!
Or not?
It was extremely amusing an an audiobook, with Lori Prince's voice coming up surprisingly high with her rough voice and the embarrassing moments were really funny. I love her.
What I liked most were the conversations between the two of them, which quite often became completely absurd. Simply because no one wants to give in.
There's also a visit to Fair Oaks and meeting some favorites I really missed!
It’s a wonderful book with as much depth as it is light, because not everything is as it seems.
Certainly a new favorite title, especially for anyone who likes medical romance.

Bachelorette Number Twelve is a slow-burn, enemies-to-lovers, medical romance by Jae.
Regina Novak is an uptight doctor, who doesn't like interacting with her coworkers beyond what is needed to get their jobs done. Ellie Fisher is a romantic sunshine nurse who has no trouble interacting with her coworkers, the exception being Regina. When Regina gets roped into volunteering for a singles auction to raise money for sick children, Ellie accidentally bids on her and wins a series of dates with the unapproachable doctor. For the sake of the auction and the children the money helps, they decide to go through with the pre-arranged date activities while a photographer registers everything to attract more people to the next event.

During their dates, they slowly get to know each other and realize how their previous opinions were misguided. Jae does a wonderful job of gradually revealing each character's layers, especially Regina. Once she opens up about her past to Ellie, she understands the doctor's complicated relationship with her co-workers and hospital gossip. Ellie doesn't judge Regina but instead tries to help her see a different side to the events that took place in her past and define her current interaction with co-workers.

Their romance is slow, with both characters denying the attraction they feel. The book has many funny moments, filled with Regina's dry humor and hers and Ellie's inside jokes. Jae does a wonderful job of showing the slow change in the main character's feelings for each other. It becomes obvious to the reader that they are falling in love, even if they take a long time to notice it. The relationship develops without any major angst, although Regina's past contains some angst and heavy situations. Jae deals with the heavy themes gently and respectfully.

There is no third-act breakup in this book, which makes it perfect for a comfort reading. Bachelorette Number Twelve is a well-written, feel-good romance that will have you laughing at some moments and swooning at others. It's worth reading. Lori Prince's narration on the audiobook is perfect. She manages to convey the full range of the character's emotions while giving each their unique voice. The audiobook version certainly makes the book even more appealing due to Prince's narration. I give this book a 4.5 rating out of 5.

I've said before that Jae can do no wrong and surprise surprise i lover this book too! I am a sucker for a hospital romance and Jae writes some of the best ones out there. Jae writes the best lesbian romances in general if I'm being honest.
I loved the grumpy/sunshine trope in this and the "fake" dating as well. These two had the best chemistry and I definitely believed the romance.
As always Jae did an amazing job! Definitely recommend!

Another hit from Jae (audiobook format)
Bachelorette Number Twelve delivers what you expect from a Jae romance: beloved tropes, laugh out loud moments and dialogue, leap off the page chemistry between main characters, and a cast of secondary characters who meddle and add fuel to the drama and comedy. There are Easter eggs as well for those who enjoy those character crossovers, mentions, cameos and other references to Jae's other stories. Fans of Hallmark type romance movies and medical themed TV shows will appreciate the medical action and jargon that permeates the story. Ice queen fans will love Regina and her sass. While not my favorite book by Jae, it's a solid entertaining read (or listen) for fans of her work and of medical romances. I recommend it and all of her other stories for terrific storytelling and characters who make a home in your heart and memory long after you've finished the book or short story.

This is the first Jae book I've listened to and Lori Prince's narration is a good fit although I still prefer to read Jae's books in physical and e-book formats and have my own imagination create the voices and visuals. It's a lengthy listening investment at 13.5 hours so you get a lotta story bang for yer buck(s). Many of the audiobooks I've listened to by other authors have been narrated by Prince so her familiar voice, voicing of characters and character types was like being read to in an adult version of library storytime; this one does feed the imagination particularly in the comedic and sensual moments. I'd like to read this story next time around and see if the format changes my opinion in any way.

Another solid story from Jae. Bachelorette Number Twelve is an enemies to lovers story with the added excitement of an emergency room workplace setting. Despite the vastly different personalities of the two main characters, there's something to love about each of them, and it's impossible not to cheer them on.

The story provides a slow burn that has the perfect balance of humor and angst. The dialogue was witty and had me laughing out loud several times throughout the reading -- Lori Prince secured her title as one of the best audiobook narrators out there.

Thank you Netgalley for an early audiobook copy in exchange for an honest review.

This book was cute and the premise was great - fake dating due to an accidental bid on a bachelorette date night. I loved the eventual romance and there was really well done queer and gender queer rep that I wasn’t expecting - and truly appreciated.

The medicine aspect was interesting but at times there was a bit too much of it. I enjoyed watching Regina and Ellie grow both as individuals and together but this part also felt like it took just a bit too long and made the whole book feel just a bit too long. Still though it was a fun read.

I really enjoyed this audio book, it’s really cute. I love lesbian romances and this was no exception. The characters were sometimes annoying but I still loved them. I also love hospital settings in books and tv shows so this was really entertaining in my opinion.

This was a great slow burn, enemies to lovers romance between and icy uptight doctor and the super bubbly nurse she works with.

After an accidental bid at a singles auction pushes these two together… the two ladies reluctantly decide to make the most of it. Their crazy road trip turns into a competition of sorts and the icy temperatures between the two women begin to heat up!!

I’m a huge fan of Jae! She never disappoints!!

Thank you NetGalley for the audiobook arc!!
