I was so excited about this book as I've enjoyed several of Mary Kay Andrews books. Unfortunately, this one fell a little flat for me. I loved the setting, but I just didn't feel connected to the characters. It took a long time for me to feel interested in the story line and I just didn't feel invested. Overall it was a fine read, but not my favorite Mary Kay Andrews book. I was expecting more of a beach read story, but it was more complicated than that.

I was very pleasantly surprised by this book! This was my first read from Mary Kay Andrews and I definitely want to read more.

I went into this book thinking it would just be a family drama. Maybe a feel good summer book but it was so much more than that, and it was so good and had me hooked right away!

While there was quite a bit of family drama in this book there was so much mystery. I wasn’t expecting the mystery storyline, but mystery is my favorite so I was excited to dive in.

I really enjoyed the character development throughout the book and the development of the friendships and relationships. I loved how some of the characters came together to figure out who the killer was.

This was a lengthy read but I felt like we got all of the information we needed without any filler. I am definitely interested in reading more from this author.

*Summers at the Saint* is a captivating blend of second-chance romance and mystery, set in a charming historic hotel on Georgia's coast. Mary Kay Andrews delivers a summer read full of heart and intrigue, with Traci Eddings, a determined widow, at the center. As she fights to save the beloved St. Cecelia hotel from financial ruin and her scheming brother-in-law, Traci must also confront long-buried secrets and past betrayals.

With well-crafted characters, a compelling plot, and a perfect mix of humor and suspense, this novel offers a richly satisfying escape. Andrews brings the setting to life, making you feel like you're right there on the coast, uncovering secrets alongside the characters. If you're in the mood for a beach read that goes beyond the usual, *Summers at the Saint* is a must-read.

I'm calling this one at 34%.
There were a lot of things to like about this book so far- most of the characters, the setting, the long ago mystery. But when the "tragic death of one of their own" happened, I had to peace out. I hadn't read the full blurb so I missed that part, so that's on me.
I'll probably come back to this eventually, and maybe in the not so distant future, but for now it's more than I want to deal with. When I do, I'll update my review and share it to retail sites.

The Saint is a high end resort on the Georgia Coast, in a small town where you are either a Saint or an “Ain't”. A gorgeously described locale, I felt like I was right there, driving over the causeway to the hotel. Thanks to St Martin's Press and NetGalley for early access to this read in exchange for my honest opinion. I started this book back in May but I had trouble getting invested in it, feeling like there were too many characters to keep straight. However, I picked it back up while in Hawaii last week, reading it in the pool with this beautiful view, and I got sucked into the unexpected mystery (and murder) at the hotel. Not what I thought it was going to be at all! This is a fun summery read, if a bit long, and I'm glad I went back to it and read it during my final week before school begins. We had two teacher days this week and now have a five day weekend before students come. This book is available everywhere now - don't be nervous about its length and the large cast of characters - they all come together in a great way, making the best of the length!

I love Mary Kay Andrews. I’ve read most of her books. The issue I had with Summers at the Saint is the cover. I thought this would be a light, easy, beach read based on the cover . This book was dark.

I’ve read MKA’s mysteries. Even those had a character or two that provided some lightness. There isn’t anything light about this story.

But, if you know going in that it’s a mystery, it’s actually a good mystery. There are good villains, and justice is served at the end.

Overall, I’m happy I read Summers at the Saint, but still wish the cover was different. Thanks to #netgalley and #stmartinspress for the advanced e-copy of #summersatthesaint . This book published May 7, 2024.

I think it is safe to say that most of us are Ain’t’s! I loved this book, so much. MKA is a master storyteller. The character development is superb! I am so happy to be a fan and I highly recommend this title.

The Saint is a hi-end family own resort hotel on the coast of Georgia. If you grew up this area, you are either "a Saint" or "an Ain't"
The story rap up two generation spent their summers at the Saint. Traci, was "an Ain't" but now she is the owner of the Saint, is straggle with the financial problem, family issues. Also she is facing the past unsolved mystery. From different characters POV, "Summers at the Saint" bring us an amazing story about family, friendship with twist and turns make you keep reading to the last page.

This is my favorite Andrews book by far. Highly recommend. 5 stars.

I very much enjoyed this story. However, the cover has you really fooled. This is not a typical fun summer beach read. It is more of a mystery with a lot of twists and even a murder.

I definitely highly recommend it.

This was a book that took me by surprise - I wasn't expecting the mystery angle that took up the majority of the storyline, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. I will say that I'm generally a person who judges a book by its cover (and I don't usually read the synopsis) - so I went in expecting a much more light-hearted story than what this ended up being. That being said, this is a pretty well crafted story overall.

Read this book if you enjoy:
> Multiple POV storylines
> Mystery / who done it
> Rich people behaving badly
> Family drama

There are a lot of interconnected storylines and POVs that made this story fast paced and engaging. There was quite a bit of a mystery to be unraveled and I appreciated the way that the author brought the reader along on the story. I also was intrigued by the different POVs and how they all contributed to different facets of the story. There is a small romance undercurrent, but it wasn't enough to really overtake the ultimate family drama/coastal town society/mystery elements. Definitely a fun summer read - gives off all the summer vibes!

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the eARC!

This is an example of why I love going into a book mostly blind. I'm sure I read the synopsis of this book months ago when I put it in my TBR, but by the time I picked it up to read, I didn't have any clue what was in store for me. And what a treat of an atmospheric Southern beachy mystery this turned out to be.

Was this a perfect book? No. Was it an engrossing and entertaining read? Yes.

In the beginning I was like why are there so many characters?! But as I continued on and the plot thickened, I became more and more invested in who and what and how and why. I was constantly changing my mind about the motives and the guilty parties and that is always the sign of a fun read.

I will say there were a couple elements of the reveals that didn't hit for me, but overall this was great.

his book is packed with characters and events—almost too much at times! However, the author managed to keep everything clear and easy to follow. It’s a genre mix of chick lit, mystery, and family drama, with just a touch of cozy vibes.

Although it turned out to be a quick read for me, the slow start might be a drawback for those who tend to DNF books quickly. But it’s worth sticking with it. My favorite part was the second-chance romance storyline—I love a good second chance! And I appreciated how everything was resolved in the end.

I listened to the audiobook, and the narrator was exceptional, perfectly performing the characters’ voices.

If you’re a fan of the author, this is a must-read. And if you enjoy second chances, family drama, and a large cast of characters involved in a mystery, you’ll definitely enjoy this book.

Thank you @netgalley and @stmartinspress for an eARC of this book, which I have read and reviewed honestly and voluntarily.

Scandals, Secrets, and Second Chances 🤭

How have I missed out on Mary Kay Andrews all this time? I must have been living under a rock, but better late than never!

Summers at the Saint is the ultimate beach read, blending charm, mystery, and a *hint* of romance. Traci Eddings, the widowed owner of the iconic St. Cecelia Hotel, must navigate financial troubles, family betrayal, and old secrets threatening to resurface—all while rallying her eclectic staff to restore the hotel to its former glory. It was witty, summery, and packed with a few unexpected twists. LOVED!

Loved it! I always enjoy Mary Kay Andrews books and this one was part fiction, part summer, part mystery which was unexpected! I was trying to figure out the entire time how all the people were connected and I guessed some things but not the specifics. And not in a bad way, just in a way where I was enjoying the story and wanted to figure out the mystery!

This is a good book. The main character is Traci. She has worked at a resort, The Saint, since she was a teenager. She meet her husband there. She worked with her best friend. She ran the resort after her husband died. Her niece who she loved like her daughter was killed at the resort. There was a fire. Employees were drugged and left to die. You think there is no way anything else is going to happen but it does.

What a perfect summer beach read! A murder mystery with a bit of romance, with the wealthy opulent backdrop. It’s a perfect palette cleanser from all the thrillers and true crime novels I read! The characters were perfectly developed, and the twist and turns had me guessing until the end! This won’t be the last Mary Kay Andrews book I read. Thank you to NetGalley for the opportunity to read this in exchange for this honest review.

I have read all of Mary Kay Andrews' books, and love every one of them. This one was especially good, and had a bit of a surprise ending that I didn't see coming until near the end.

This murder mystery and a second chance at love had me reading until the wee hours of the morning. Wealth, deception, and the scheming had me feeling like I’m staying at a murder mystery hotel. MKA has a way of transporting you right into the thick of the story and this is a must read. Thank you to St. Martins Press and NetGalley for the eARC in trade for an honest review.
