Mary Kay Andrews' book are fun summer beach read in my opinion. This book is no exception. It is a fast paced read with a lot of adventure, mystery, and a little romance.

Traci Eddings grew up an Ain't and then married a Saint. After the loss of her husband Traci is trying to keep the Saint running. She is fighting her ill father-in-law and shady brother-in-law. She must get some new help to make sure the Summer at the Saint puts the company back into the black.

There is a whole slew of characters and some mystery about a drowning from 20 years ago. There are some fun and some scary moments for these characters but as with every great beach read, the ending makes you smile.

I highly recommend this for your summer vacation.

This was my third Mary Kay Andrews book, and it is my favorite so far. It had mystery and suspense, and a little romance. It was entertaining and kept my interest throughout. I especially liked the characters and cared about what happened to them. There are a couple of story lines that I would have liked to have seen taken a little further. I would really like to see this turned into a series.

Thanks so much to NetGalley and St. Martin’s Press for the ARC. All opinions are my own.

Traci fell in love for the first time from a boat looking at the confection that is the St Cecelia, a magnificent hotel and playground for the wealthy. It clientele returned season after season. Everyone called it the Saint. Local legend states there are two type of people here the Saints and the Aints. Traci began her career as an Aint , spending summers working the hotel, learning all the ways to accommodate the people who stayed in the hotel. The Eddings have owned the property , it being named for a daughter, and a promise to those who come to the Saint to never want to vacation anywhere else. It was through marriage to Hoke Eddding that Traci slowly began to cement her place in the family and on the property. It is Hoke’s death and Traci’s slow recovery from this tragic accident that sets the stage for a summer that few who loved the Saint will forget. The Saint is facing slower than usual reservations. Her acclaimed chef has left for a rival, property. The front desk manager is also gone with little explanation. Traci is hoping her niece will give her one more summer before she starts college. Traci needs to compete and promises the new hires a summer they will not forget. A promise Traci may soon regret. So the season begins and we are here under the pink and white umbrellas of the Saint, cold drinks in hand. A murder mystery to solve.
Happy reading

I would like to thank Net Galley, St. Martin's Publishing and Erica Martirano for the opportunity to read this as an ARC. Traci Eddings grew up on the "wrong side of the tracks" . She and her best friend Shannon were thrilled to get summer jobs at the Saint Cecilia Resort- "the Saint" as it was known. In the small town that they lived in, you were Saints or Aints- and Traci and Shannon were aints. That all changed the summer they were hired as life guards. Traci fell in love with Hoke, the son of the owner Fred Eddings. It was not all good that summer, a little boy drowned in the pool, Shannon was blamed and fired.Traci and Shannon never spoke again. Flash forward to the present, some 20 years later. Traci is a widow, and running the Saint. Her brother in law, Ric, is trying to make things difficult for her, especially when she recruits his daughter Parrish to work at the Saint for the summer. Traci hires some new staff, to offset staff shortages, including Felice, a new chef and Livvy- the daughter of her former best friend Shannon. Traci tries to institute changes, but comes up against a variety of problems, unhappy guests, suspicious money losses and eventually murder. This isa darker book than I imagined it would be . It is good, and held my interest. There are a lot of characters and a lot of plot lines.I do not want to give anything away, but it is not quite the breezy beach read it appears to be from the cover. It is engaging, with interesting characters and despite the numerous plot lines, everything is tied up at the end.It is a solid good read.

This book gripped my attention from the beginning. I was expecting a light summer story to give me a reprieve from the cold and dreary winter. Instead, I got a page-turner with so many twists and turns that I stayed up late and woke up early, in order to finish the book.

This was a fast paced read for me that was both character and plot driven. I enjoyed the way the characters were developed. It was easy to cheer for some of them and to not trust others because they came alive on the paper. It's hard to say more without giving major parts of the story away and revealing spoilers, but this would make a fabulous movie.

Before now I had only read Mary Kay Andrews Christmas stories, but after this one I am going to dive into her backlist books. Thank you to the author, publisher and NetGalley for allowing me to read an ARC in exchange for my honest feedback.

From the cover, you might think this is a frothy romance or family drama—it has a little of the former and a lot of the latter, but it also includes a murder mystery.

Traci was gutted when her husband died in a plane crash four years ago, but she stepped up and took over his duties as CEO of the resort part of the family business. The villainous brother-in-law and his unlikeable wife are also part of the company. It’s difficult to find workers because housing is so expensive on the Georgia coast, but Traci manages to put together a team, some of whom are more trustworthy and competent than others.

I mostly enjoyed this, but there were a few things that really stretched believability, particularly about something that happened 20 years ago. I can’t say what the plot hole was, but “undiagnosed” means how could it be intentional?

When Traci interviews Felice for a job as a chef, she asks if Felice is married and has children. Since when is an employer allowed to do that? (I’m sure that used to be acceptable, but in more recent history, nope.)

It has its moments. NetGalley provided an advance copy of this novel, which RELEASES MAY 7, 2024.

I was so happy to get an early copy of this book. It reminded me so much of summer! When her husband dies and her in laws come to town, the drama unfolds.
All the main characters are strong and unforgettable. This story takes you on a a wild ride with many moving parts and surprising situations. The revelation of a tightly held secret of over twenty years has the potential of changing many lives. Traci and Shannon’s relationship has been estranged for over 20 years although they are brought back together as the result of a shocking discovery.

This is going to be one for the summer read list for sure!! The summer vibes this book gave me with the setting. I am a fan of Mary Kay Andrew’s and this book was so good. Our story focuses around a beautiful massive pink hotel/resort known all over the town as The Saint. This is where the who’s who reside. We follow Traci who is the president of The Saint who is recently widowed. She staffs her niece along with some other good characters for the summer and it’s not long before we are watching secrets come unraveling && drama unfolding. This book is fast paced and this book will have you wondering how this is going to play out. The twists and turns are so good in this book. Definitely a fun must read and needs to be on the TBR.

I’m thrilled I got the chance to read Mary Kay Andrew’s newest book, Summers at the Saint. This book actually took quite a few turns that I was not expecting! Though not really a thriller, I found this to be much more of a mystery than many of her books I have read. I really enjoyed reading this. Although I was excited to find out what happens, I was kinda sad for it to end! I think this will be a hit when it is published this coming May.

ARC - Pub Date May 7th

Okay, so I have only ever read Mary Kay Andrews’ Christmas books (and loved them) but I was seriously not expecting to love this one as much as I did 😁 Like, now I have to go binge all her books much ♥️

The characters and their storylines were on point and the setting was perfect 🤩 It has a bit of romance, heartbreak, scandal and mystery with a beachside of drama 🐚

If all of her books are like this my TBR is in trouble 😉

This book got me hooked on the characters right away. The summer hotel and resort venue with cast of characters including the staff members helped set the vacation mood. But it was not all care-free vacation, as family secrets and drama began spilling out. I do love a story with a well tied together ending! Loved it!

Summers at the Saint by Mary Kay Andrews
Pub Date 07 May 2024

Believe it or not, this was the first MKA book I’ve read! It certainly won’t be the last, though. This was a completely fun and cozy summer read. Every time I believed I had the mystery figured out, there was another twist. There was a lot of activity that kept me interested throughout, though it was a bit long. I really enjoyed the romantic interest Whelan’s character added. 4⭐️

First let me say I adored the setting. As a native South Carolinian, I love that MKA’s books always remind me of our little piece of the southeast & this was no different. The St. Cecilia reminds me of so many southern hotels & her descriptions made it so easy for me to picture. I was pining for the poolside drinks, the spa treatments & the entire luxury experience.

Secondly, there were so many twists and turns in this one. I’ve only read a few books by MKA & they’ve all had a mystery/thriller element to them which is unexpected but fun. The cover definitely leads you to believe it’s a beach read but it’s really more of a romance and mystery in my opinion, which is fine, just know that going in!

There were a lot of characters so it was a little tough to keep them and all of their respective relationships straight but I got there. At over 400 pages, it also felt a little unnecessarily long and drug a little in the middle. Overall, I liked it!

Kudo’s to Mary Kay Andrews for yet another enjoyable summer read. ‘Summers at the Saint’ did not disappoint. Murder and romance nicely entwined at the seaside Saint Cecilia resort. A must add to your beach bag.

The synopsis was so appealing, so I was looking forward to reading my first book by the author. However, the story wasn’t the beach read I was expecting, but wound up being a murder mystery, with some romance. But mostly, all over the place.

It took me much longer than usual to finish this - there were too many characters and different POV’s - none of which were compelling. This one didn’t hold my interest.

Mary Kay Andrews has always been one of my favorite authors. But she exceeded my expectations with this book. It was kind of mystery, and a bit of a psychological thriller with everything that was going on at the resort. The main character, Tracy, evolved throughout the book. She went through a lot of tragedy and still held her own. Old friendships that had tarnished, were renewed. There were so many corrupt employees at the Saint, that it made you wonder how much of this goes on in the real world. there were good people who went down the wrong road. And others who got their due justice. I really enjoyed this book and could not wait for the ending!

Arc Review for Summers at the Saint by Mary Kay Andrews
Pub date: May 7, 2024

I love a GOOD beach read with a little mystery thrown in to keep it interesting.
Summers at the Saints is a fun frolic through the lives of the “Saints” and the “Ain’ts.” Their lives are intertwined because of the St Cecelia-"The Saint" and the shared tragedies that threaten to destroy them.

Traci Eddings has had her share of tragedies, but she has risen above them to successful manage her beloved St Cecelia in honor of her late husband. However, her success could come crashing down in one ill-fated Summer. The combination of key employee resignations, rising costs, lower resort occupancies, poor reviews, and a new unseasoned staff causes Traci to trust people she shouldn’t. If The Saint is going to survive for another Summer, she must overcome the past, mend friendships, embrace the team she does have, and build new relationships.

I love the character building throughout this story. In her forties, Traci is technically “a Saint” meaning she grew into adulthood at the Saint, but she thinks with the heart of an “ain’t. She was once only a lifeguard at the resort, growing up on the wrong side of the river. Her life changed when she married the boss’s son. Her life’s journey made her stronger and I love how she overcomes so much as the story unfolds. She is a kind and resourceful leader and puts her people before herself. I love how we were given a glimpse of her teenage life and early days at The Saint. These snippets show her growth and resilience.

I loved the unlikely partnership between two young co-workers, Olivia and Felice. They worked together to solve the mysteries and survive the Summer. The friendship, that resulted, will last a lifetime.

I loved all the mysteries in the story—who killed Hudson, who drove the red sports car, who is behind the financial issues at The Saint, who is behind the death of a key character, and how much does “the family” know?

In true Mary Kay Andrew fashion, the story includes love interests, yummy food descriptions, beautiful locations, and all sorts of interesting characters to keep you turning the pages as fast as you can read them. I read it in two sittings!

What a surprisingly gripping read this book was. Based on the cover alone, you would not predict what type of mystery this book would entail and it had me gripping the edges of my seat. I loved the pacing of this book and how the characters navigated those murder mysteries.

It was almost a dark, holiday type read? The vibes were immaculate.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for providing me this arc in exchange for my honest review.
