The synopsis was so appealing, so I was looking forward to reading my first book by the author. However, the story wasn’t the beach read I was expecting, but wound up being a murder mystery, with some romance. But mostly, all over the place.
It took me much longer than usual to finish this - there were too many characters and different POV’s - none of which were compelling. This one didn’t hold my interest.
Thank you to St. Martin’s Press and NetGalley for the DRC

Mary Kay Andrews has always been one of my favorite authors. But she exceeded my expectations with this book. It was kind of mystery, and a bit of a psychological thriller with everything that was going on at the resort. The main character, Tracy, evolved throughout the book. She went through a lot of tragedy and still held her own. Old friendships that had tarnished, were renewed. There were so many corrupt employees at the Saint, that it made you wonder how much of this goes on in the real world. there were good people who went down the wrong road. And others who got their due justice. I really enjoyed this book and could not wait for the ending!

I just finished May Kay Andrews new book Summers at the Saint. I really enjoyed the plot and the characters. The storyline kept me reading to see what was going to happen next. Summers at the Saint was a very quick read for me. I would definitely recommend it to friends as a Summer read.

Arc Review for Summers at the Saint by Mary Kay Andrews
Pub date: May 7, 2024
I love a GOOD beach read with a little mystery thrown in to keep it interesting.
Summers at the Saints is a fun frolic through the lives of the “Saints” and the “Ain’ts.” Their lives are intertwined because of the St Cecelia-"The Saint" and the shared tragedies that threaten to destroy them.
Traci Eddings has had her share of tragedies, but she has risen above them to successful manage her beloved St Cecelia in honor of her late husband. However, her success could come crashing down in one ill-fated Summer. The combination of key employee resignations, rising costs, lower resort occupancies, poor reviews, and a new unseasoned staff causes Traci to trust people she shouldn’t. If The Saint is going to survive for another Summer, she must overcome the past, mend friendships, embrace the team she does have, and build new relationships.
I love the character building throughout this story. In her forties, Traci is technically “a Saint” meaning she grew into adulthood at the Saint, but she thinks with the heart of an “ain’t. She was once only a lifeguard at the resort, growing up on the wrong side of the river. Her life changed when she married the boss’s son. Her life’s journey made her stronger and I love how she overcomes so much as the story unfolds. She is a kind and resourceful leader and puts her people before herself. I love how we were given a glimpse of her teenage life and early days at The Saint. These snippets show her growth and resilience.
I loved the unlikely partnership between two young co-workers, Olivia and Felice. They worked together to solve the mysteries and survive the Summer. The friendship, that resulted, will last a lifetime.
I loved all the mysteries in the story—who killed Hudson, who drove the red sports car, who is behind the financial issues at The Saint, who is behind the death of a key character, and how much does “the family” know?
In true Mary Kay Andrew fashion, the story includes love interests, yummy food descriptions, beautiful locations, and all sorts of interesting characters to keep you turning the pages as fast as you can read them. I read it in two sittings!

What a surprisingly gripping read this book was. Based on the cover alone, you would not predict what type of mystery this book would entail and it had me gripping the edges of my seat. I loved the pacing of this book and how the characters navigated those murder mysteries.
It was almost a dark, holiday type read? The vibes were immaculate.

Summers at the Saint is a completely adorable and captivating read. Perfect for taking along with you during a vacation!
Traci and her team unravel mysteries under the sun, keeping readers engaged and hooked with just the right amount of suspense. Mary Kay Andrews skillfully weaves a narrative that includes murder mystery, family drama, and a sprinkle of romance. Oh how delicious wasthe rollercoaster of emotions in this book! The multiple storylines add complexity, and though it may take a moment to catch up with all the characters and perspectives, the plot is intriguing from the start. The characters and the story itself were so intriguing to me! Traci's journey from a lifeguard to managing a struggling resort, dealing with mystery and post-pandemic challenges, adds layers to the story. that really made the book for me to be very honest.
This delightful book strikes a perfect balance between suspense and summer vibes, making it a recommended escape for those who enjoy mysteries with a summery feel.

Underneath the surface glitz of a 5 star hotel & club the waters are murky with financial problems, family issues, and the decades-old death of a child. Andrews introduces us to the family members who own the Saint and some of the summer workers, and I enjoyed these strong women and their friendships. The surprise of a mystery with surprise twists added to the pleasure of this read. MK has legions of fans and this won’t disappoint. Highly recommended.
Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for an ARC. All opinions expressed are my own.

This "beach read" is an intense page turner that never seemed to let up and I loved every minute of it. This particular summer at the Saint had it all-suspense, family drama, a murder, sweet and sexy romance, and wonderful characters with intense relationships. Traci Eddings is an amazing, strong female lead, widowed at a young age she takes over the running of The Saint, a hotel owned by her deceased husband's family on the Georgia coast. I enjoyed reading about the running of the hotel and cheered on Traci's brave moves to keep it afloat. I highly recommend this fast-paced book! Thanks to #NetGalley and #StMartin'sPress for the arc. for an honest review All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for allowing me to read Mary Kay Andrew’s’ latest work. I always enjoy her books. This one was not quite as light and breezy as some, but the story held my interest. There were some dark maneuverings going on at the beautiful family hotel the Traci inherited from her husband. I loved the setting and appreciate the reality of a resort where the guests are haves and the locals nots. The mystery kept me guessing, even when I thought I had it all worked out, I hadn’t quite solved it all.

Another wonderful beach read from Mary Kay Andrews! This time she takes us to a small coastal town in Georgia to a historical beach resort for the elite. The St. Cecelia run by the Eddings family has been renovated and Traci Eddings is trying to bring new life to the resort. Not only does she find herself dealing with money and staff shortages but also the lack of cooperation and trust by the Eddings family.
There is a lot of mystery and intrigue going on at the St. Cecelia. Everyone has a secret, personal vendetta or a plot, be it to hide their past, or to seek revenge. The reader is taken in many different directions, but in the end the author brings it all together.
As always, the descriptions are so vivid that you can see the beaches, coastlines, and the majestic St. Ceceila in your mind. Her characters have personalities that you can identify with be they good or bad. But they are all people that remind us of some we have met.
Take a trip to the St. Cecelia - you won't regret it.
Thank you to the author, publisher and Netgalley for a chance to read an advanced copy of this book.

Summers at the Saints by Mary Kay Andrews was a good book. I have read almost all of her books. This one was about the haves and have nots. There were a lot of characters in the book, and I did have to get them straight in my mind.
I did enjoy the summer vibe and the story Recommended

This book was a page turner! So many twists and turns as stories came together. There were many characters to keep track of, but by the end you could follow them all. The history of the characters brought some of them to life as well as the young careful teens wanting a fun summer job!

Unfortunately, despite my enjoyment of Mary Kay Andrews' novels, this one was difficult for me to read. Too many POVs to keep up with which is hard for me to read in an ebook format. I may give this one another chance once I can borrow the print version from my library.

Read this one in a day!
As teens, Traci and Shannon work a summer job at the super fancy and exclusive resort, The Saint. A tragedy, misunderstanding, and secrets tear their friendship apart. Traci falls in love and marries the Saint’s owners son, who is killed in a plane crash leaving Traci to run the resort. Shannon ends up pregnant, single and struggling, working locally as a nurse.
Severely short staffed, and hemorrhaging money, Traci has to find replacements for key staff at The Saint and work out a way to retain them. Lots of unexpected plot twists including attempted murder, some romance and scheming family kept me waiting to see what happened next.

‘Summers at the Saint’ kept me captivated from the very first page, with the lure of a beautiful setting, a rich array of characters, and a story that will leave you on the edge of your seat. I honestly could not, and did not, want to put this book down! ‘Summers at the Saint’ opens with an introduction to the magical Saint resort and a little girl by the name Traci who dreamed of visiting it one day, only to later become it’s owner and savior. With a series of plot-twists (some of which left me utterly heartbroken), we follow Traci Eddings as she fights to keep the Saint alive and brimming with more glamor and magic than ever. Mary Kay Andrews left her readers desperately turning the page to find out what happens next. I would recommend this book over and over again; trust me, you will not be left disappointed.

This might be one of my favorite Mary Kay Andrews books. I could not put this book down. It has a great combination of characters, a beautiful southern hotel, family drama, and some mysteries to solve with a sprinkle of romance. It makes me want to visit a large southern resort but definitely makes me think twice about being in the hospitality business. I loved the character development and how likable but still unique some characters were and then how villainous and surprisingly villainous some of the other characters became as the story unfolded.

Mary Kay Andrews is a must read author for me. Her books are easy summer reads that include a bit of mystery and romance. When I started to read Summers at the Saint, I was getting strong The Hotel Nantucket by Elin Hilderbrand vibes due to the writing style, huge cast of characters, and the similar setting in a luxury hotel. Once I was familiar with the characters and read further, MKA’s writing style came alive. There were even some twists I did not see coming!
Thank you, NetGalley and St. Martin’s Press, for the digital ARC in exchange for my honest review. All thoughts and opinions expressed above are my own.

A family drama set in a beautiful location where not everyone is as supportive as they appear to be.
Traci Eddings is Hoke's widow at 40. The hotel he left her is having major staff issues, as are most employers in the area. Her brother-in-law, Ric and his current wife, Madelyn are constant thorns. Ric's daughter Parrish Eddings agrees to give up her summer tour of Europe to help out and take on the customer care team and the front desk. Traci hires young chef Felice to run the kitchen after tasting her cooking at another establishment in spite of protest from Charlie Burroughs who's been overseeing staff for decades. Traci's innovative solutions to provide staff housing on site and other perks are brilliant. Observations by Parrish and Felice put them in harms way. When Traci finds out part of their findings she becomes a threat to someone on staff.
The plot moves quickly and there are so many twists to keep you guessing. The culprit is revealed in little clues that are easy to miss. Another excellent summer read by Mary Kay Andrews.

This is quite a tale. A wide variety of things are happening at this resort. There is romance, murder, and so much more. It kept me turning the pages. There are several surprises. Thanks to the publisher for providing a copy via NetGalley. My review is voluntary.

WAY too many characters.
Traci was likable enough especially with the chip of "You don't belong in our world", in now running the Saint.
The murder was quite the swerve, the second attempt was a bit unbelievable.
Anyways, I couldn't get attached to any character nor their arcs because I couldn't get to know them! This book just bounced around from POV to POV, petty reasoning to petty reasoning.
Also, is this a romance or cozy mystery? MAKE UP YOUR MIND.
Sadly this book has no identity and is terribly forgettable
