Paranormal, mystery and a little bit of romance. Lots of twists and turns with a host of interesting characters. I find the initial world building to be a little slow and a bit confusing, but it soon settles and flows along well. Alex is the strongest character with the most interesting backstory and complexities, and I liked how fiercely she protects her family. Carrie and Jo are strong characters as well, and their motivation felt realistic to me. The dynamics between all the players are solid, and I thought Alex and Damiano's relationship is particularly intriguing. Overall, an interesting read with a unique word and some unexpected twists.

"Immortal Secrets" by Sydney Ashcroft & Dani Nichols proved to be an enthralling read, seamlessly blending elements of mystery, supernatural intrigue, and romance. The narrative, rich with unexpected twists and deep-seated deception, captivated me from the start. Characters like Alex and Carrie, with their complex backstories and relatable struggles, were particularly engaging, offering depth to the unfolding drama. While the story's pace initially felt slow, it quickly gained momentum, leading to a compelling exploration of secrets that bind and divide. Although Jo's character was less resonant, the overall dynamic between characters enriched the story, making it a multifaceted exploration of loyalty, love, and the burdens of the past. This book is a testament to the authors' ability to craft a narrative that is both emotionally resonant and thrilling, making me eager for the next installment in this gripping series.

This seems to jump rather unnervingly at the start. I began the story and settled into a tale about Joanna, back in Good Harbor for the sad purpose of clearing her dead parents house and belongings. Her family and close friends reunite after separating paths due to college, other commitments and they all support each other during a difficult time. Then suddenly the story becomes something else. You realise that their friend Alex Thorne, or Akantha is not what she seems and the story becomes secretive and dark. Intrigue and conspiracy, betrayal and conflicts ensue and the difference in pace tumbles you towards the conclusion in the name of immortality at any cost... Fun and entertaining.

Alex Thorne has been caring for Jo, Mike and Ben since their parents were killed, and when Jo is attacked, she knows she’ll need all her years of experience to deal with what’s coming to keep her family safe. Alex has a secret, a big one, one that threatens to rip her family apart. When Damianos appears after so long, things get more complicated than ever.

I really enjoyed this book, the characters were immediately engaging, and the story intriguing. It felt a bit slow on the build up but soon picked up the pace, when the secrets start coming out. Some unexpected twists, deception and a bit of romance. I loved Alex and Carrie, both different characters but really likeable. I didn’t particularly take to Jo, but her reactions to what was happening around her and to her were very believable. A fascinating take on this genre. Alex is a really good character that I’d like to read about at any stage in her long life. I’ll definitely look out for the next book.
