As a crocheter and knitter for many years, I always look forward to seeing new crafting books. There is nothing quite like cracking open a book, browsing all the colorful photos, and dreaming of having enough time to make everything within the book’s pages. This book is no different. The designer has included a variety of different designs of different skill levels. The materials list seem thorough and the pattern directions are well written and clear. The photos are staged well. This is a terrific book to add to your crochet library and a designer to watch for in the future.
Thank you Netgalley and the publishers for this ecopy in exchange for an honest review.
I have been looking for books on crocheting and this one's absolutely perfect, especially because I want a cozy home and would hopefully use it while setting up my future home with my boyfriend (to be husband, hopefully).
A good collection of projects for home. Not necessarily practical projects but some beautiful decor items.
My Crochet Home by Salena Baca is a collection of patterns for home decor crochet. There is a variety in content from blankets and baskets to an ottoman. The patterns are clearly written and easy to follow.
Thank you to @Netgalley and @SalenaBaca for the ARC.
I taught myself to crochet when I was much younger, and as this was back in the day before YouTube and online tutorials, I crocheted a lot of squares/rectangles and simple shapes (including some very tragic dolls). I wish I’d had this book then as it provides 10 easy-to-follow patterns and instructions for items that are useable around the house or even as gifts. These include wall hangings, pillows, ottomans, baskets, and more.
The patterns are all based on single or double crochet stitches, which makes them easy to follow even for beginners. There are a few special techniques added throughout, but clear instructions are provided each time. I also appreciated that the author provided the number of skins of each color needed for projects (though it’s easy to change the colors to ones you prefer), as well as details about the gauge of the hook/yarn and other relevant details.
If you like crochet and want to create some lovely projects for your home or for gifts, then this is a must read. My thanks to NetGalley and Globe Pequot for allowing me to read this work. All thoughts and opinions expressed in this review are my own.
A fabulous easy to follow set of patterns.
Those cushion covers are 😍
I was surprised to not find any kitchen crochet bits in there, as that's the biggest part of my home.
If you’re looking for quick projects or love chunky yarn then this is the book for you! Most projects use bigger gauge and as such will go faster. Supper cute items to make for around the house. This would also be good for newbies as none of the projects are overly advanced. Would recommend to friends and family.
I love to crochet & always enjoy finding new patterns and looking at pattern books. This is a short one, but has several different types of projects. I'm looking forward to making some of them, & I especially like that many use bulky yarn so they will be quicker to make! I would recommend it for someone with experience crocheting, not a newbie.
I received an ARC from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
I was already a fan of Salena’s crochet patterns so I was excited to be given the chance to review her book. It didn’t disappoint, I’m looking forward to purchasing a copy and creating some of her designs. Fab book! Bound to please any crocheter.
I love crocheting and the patterns were easy to follow. I loved working on things that I would then see around my house. It was a great book to add your own touch to your home.
So excited to try some of these patterns, they look easy to follow and can be used with many colours so should be suitable for most rooms in the house! I just need to find space to put everything!
A comprehensive guide to crochet projects with unique ideas ranging from wearables to decor. It could benefit from a bit more graphic interest, but overall a great title.
This book has a variety of patterns - from throws and a placemat to an ottoman and a plant basket. I recommend thoroughly reading about each project before moving onto the pattern as sometimes it is difficult to understand the pattern unless you've first studied the photo and it's accompanying description. While I wouldn't recommend this book to a beginner, it does have some new and fresh projects for adding some crochet pieces to an intermediate's home decor.
I received an electronic arc of this book from the publisher via NetGalley and am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
A lovely book containing modern items to crochet for your home. There are lots of beautiful items to crochet.
This is a really nice book of patterns for crochet home decor. All the items have a very modern design style. Most use chunky yarn and big hooks so they'll work up pretty quickly. The patterns are written in a very straightforward way and look easy to follow.
I loved the images for those gave a clear vision as to what the finished article would look like. There was also a good picture index at the from to the book so you could quickly find the design that you ere looking for.
Bits that could have been improved on. I wish the book stated at the abbreviations section that this was American terminology. Important as UK double stitch is different to US. This could remove frustration when the international readers are attempting to follow the pattern.
Also having chart patterns would be beneficial, I know many of my learners are visual ones and trying to follow written instruction can be difficult or confusing.
Despite those, it is a useful book with interesting projects that many would want to attempt.
Very easy directions and perfect for anyone who loves to crochet! There are many different things to crochet for around your house which is perfect and different from the usual blanket or bag crochet book.
Love the placemat and table runner. Liked the idea of hanging plant basket although I have not made these. The photography in the book is lovely, I would have liked to see more colours, there was a lot of grey and cream. A nice book of great ideas and patterns to make a cosy home.
Thank you for this book! I started doing crochet four weeks ago and this is really a helpful book in getting some patterns I can do as next project. Also, the instructions were very clear and easy to understand as a beginner.
Thank you NetGalley, Globe Pequot, and Stackpole Books for this arc
4/5 stars
This was a quick and concise crochet pattern book, with very easy to read patterns. Most of these I can easily see making for your home, but some seem a little silly to me (the triangle wall hanging that just looks like a shawl?? Lol ok) but all in all good easy beginner pattern book at an affordable price
