I think patrons will like this new crochet book. I would recommend it as a good book for beginners. Crochet has been especially popular recently, so I think this would be a good addition to any public library collection.
The patterns were fairly easy to follow. The household/home items chosen for inclusion were generic and easy to shift for most any home.
Beautifully photographed, easy and quick to work up patterns. While not necessarily for a complete beginner, this would be a great choice for someone who has already mastered the basics but wants to branch out a little bit. I'm looking forward to trying the chunky basket pattern.
If you are into home deco and you crochet, this book is for you. I was curious to see what could be crocheted for deco and some are really cute and I could crochet for my own home.
Thanks to Netgalley and Globe Pequot for access to this arc in exchange for my honest review.
I first like to say thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for allowing me an opportunity to read this arc. Crochet is one of my calming hobbies and this book was great for those times when I want a quick project using chunky yarn. These patterns were easy to understand and very well written and I think that they would be great for beginners.
My Crocheted Home: Hand-made baskets, pillows, throw, wall hangings, placemats, and more is described as a collection of patterns that are fresh, modern, functional, and super-satisfying and it is exactly that. The projects are interesting and require little experience in crocheting. Each pattern is based on the chain stitch, the single crochet stitch and the double crochet stitch. There are some occasional special techniques, but they are well described and do not appear difficult to implement.
The instructions given are clear and precise, and each project has pictures. The project patterns are laid out in a very clear and functional manner. Baca states the brand and type of yarn used, the required number of skeins of each color, needed materials, special technique if applicable, size of the product gauge, and a special notes section before giving the step-by-step instructions of the pattern itself.
Anyone who loves to crochet will enjoy this book. Since so few stitches are used in the projects, I wish the author had included stitch instructions at the beginning of the book so those new to crocheting wouldn't need to go elsewhere to learn how to do the stitch. A very minor flaw indeed!
My sincere thanks to Stackpole Books for allowing me to access a DRC of the book via NetGallley. All thoughts and opinions expressed in this review are my own and are given freely. Publication is 3/5/24.
Some nice ideas and funny stuff. Easy to make with a very good explanation of how to crochet. More for beginners and those who love their homes to be full of crochet 'art'.
This book is super cute! I'm a little over the stage of a beginner and have to say this one is great for every level crocheter! The things you can make are cute and practical and the descriptions and pictures are great. Definately a must buy for everyone who wants to personalize their home with diy crochet stuff!
I was looking for things to make for my house and I came across this book. If you like to crochet, this book is for you! The patterns are creative and the pictures really help you see each project. They projects use a chunky yarn that to will work up fast.
I’m not sure if I want to make the table runner or ottoman first. My house is going to be so pretty!
Many thanks to the author and NetGalley for a complimentary copy of the book. The opinions expressed in this review are entirely my own.
I am not a huge crochet-er but I liked this book a lot. I like larger format projects that use a lot of materials and this book delivered. Crochet is so bulky, I think it works really well for projects you don't want to wear which is why making stuffed animals is so popular but how many toys do you want or need? This shows you practical items for the home like blankets, rugs and plant pot covers.
My Crocheted Home by Salena Baca provides several patterns for home goods which are appropriate for beginner to intermediate crocheters. This book assumes that the crocheter has knowledge of basic crochet stitches as well as how to read a crochet pattern. Some verbal explanations of special stitches/techniques is offered, adding pictorial instructions would've made this more beginner friendly.
The photography of finished home goods is pleasing to the eye, and the neutral color pallette chosen will appeal to many. The patterns incorporate other materials (wooden handles, metal hoops, etc.) in a creative manner. I'm particularly excited about the pattern for the Hanging Plant Basket, and plan to crochet this when I have the time, however, some of the other projects are less original, or have very similar free versions which could be easily accessed. The benefit to these projects being more general is that an advanced crocheter could easily adapt the size of the pattern or change the look by choosing different stitches.
Thank you to Salena Baca and Globe Pequot for providing me access to the ARC in exchange for an honest review.
I am new to crochet, and found these to be good beginning to intermediate projects. If you were TOTALLY new to crochet, this book might not be enough. You would need some additional info. But if you know the basics and want some cute projects for the home, this is great. The pictures are beautiful, but I would have liked to see more photos overall. It was a short book, but had some cute things I'd like to try.
Very cute crochet book! I loved the variety of projects, and though (I don't think) it's advertised as such, it is primarily chunkier yarn projects (I think I only saw one that was below #5 weight), which I love because they work up so quick and it's pretty easy to do scrap yarn projects with them. Not much to say beyond this--I own many crochet books and have reviewed maaany, and this one is a pretty straightforward one with lots of fun ideas!
A simple book of beautiful patterns for the home. It does require the reader to have a general knowledge of crocheting as there are not extensive explanations. Having this knowledge, I appreciated the lack of long explanations. I do think I would like to make the blanket patterns!
Thank you to NetGalley, Globe Pequot, Stackpole Books, and author Salena Baca for the ARC in exchange for my honest review.
Crochet is something that I have come to love and I always like to learn more patterns and get new ideas. I was excited to look through and find ideas and get color ideas as well as patterns.
This book of ten patterns is probably best for beginner to intermediate levels. The patterns are very basic and easy to follow, but additional photos would be helpful. There are a few macrame inspired patterns. As an advanced crocheter, I was let down by the lack of unique patterns.

I loved this little crochet book!!! The patterns are so super cute and easy to understand. There is a lot of variety with the patterns as well, from throws and afghans to cushions and baskets. I really enjoyed reading this book and highly recommend to any crochet friend!
The cover of this book is great. Many of the other 9 included projects are a bit underwhelming. As other reviewers have suggested, I'm not sure why the reader would be better off with this book than with individual patterns.
There is no introduction with tips or methodology for making certain stitches. The individual projects would also benefit from additional pictures or explanation.
Thank you NetGalley for the ARC.
This was a well written book. Nice photos and instructions.
Two things, the projects are not unique, would be nice to have charts where applicable in addition to written instructions.
Great crochet book with gifts for Christmas, special occasions, or even just to spruce up your own home. The patterns are straight forward and easy to read. This book does not go into a lot of details with how to crochet the stitches, but most people don’t need that in the book so I preferred that. I really loved the ottoman and the hanging pot hanger!
