Olivie has such a unique writing style, and she is so closely tuned into her fans that it's no surprise she's amassed such a large and loyal following. The Atlas series will undoubtedly appeal to fans of the "dark academia" subgenre and smart, savvy balance of sci fi and fantasy.
Well, where can I possibly find the words to express my feelings about the finale of the series?
On the one hand, I understand the dismay of those who weren't satisfied with the ending. On the other hand, I have no quarrels with it.
Would I have wished for something different to happen? YES, but I was also hopelessly in love with all the characters and would have burned the world down for them. I wanted them to be happy and healthy and fulfilled. I wished for the to be forever in love with each other, living together in a secluded mansion, enjoying the little things in life and each others company.
But none of that would have been realistic! There are consequences to our actions. There are repercussions for our greed. There are ramifications for all the words said out loud and the thoughts never shared.
So, no, this wasn't a happy ending. However, it was a deserved one. People made choices and many now have to live with that. I'd say that's life.
Final rating: 4.5 stars (because it once again felt like Raina was on a completely different side quest and I did not care as much about the opposing party, while I had to read about them quite a bit)
