I’ve had Amanda Eyre Ward on my want to read list for a while and this just happened to be the first book I read by her. Unfortunately it may be the last because I hated it. The character development was microwaved and the plot felt like a fourth grader wrote it. I didn’t like anyone and couldn’t believe how much heavy emotional material was settled over a few sentences. This was such a weird reading experience because it just felt so bad when I know this author is popular so I was very confused.

A subject I hate.....destination weddings. Why? Well, this book will explain everything.
Three sisters who aren't exactly close all get together for a family wedding and everyone acts like they are enjoying themselves. When secretly no one is happy and no one wants to be there, and some can't afford it. No one, let alone your baby sister, should go into debt over your wedding.
Yes, it is a beautiful castle, and everything is at the disposal of their guests, but still the sisters have issues.
Set over a few days of toxic family drama, are three sisters, one big wedding, and a nightmare of a mother.
A delicious weekend read, by the beach, or in the air condition.
A must read before you RSVP to any more of these expensive weddings.

this book had so many of my favorite elements.
Character driven family drama, complicated sister relationships (as an only child these fascinate me), and secrets being held by each main character. I love the alternating chapters told from each sisters point of view.

Lots of drama and an easy read. Some of the secrets felt a bit lackluster and I was wanting them to be more but I enjoyed reading this. I felt stressed, nervous, happy, sad, and excited all while reading this at different points which I think is a great sign. A perfect beach read!

I really enjoyed Lovers and Liars! It is about 3, very different, sisters (Cleo, Sylvie and Emma Peacock) who are coming together for one of their weddings. They have led pretty separate lives the last few years and with so many secrets and lies everything will come to a head. What a great read!

The oldest one Was a lawyer in New York City and she had a very difficult time with her boyfriend, Danny.. She liked another guy better and he really couldn't make her happy and feel alive. Emily, the second sister, lived in Montana with her family. She had a problem because she was spending All of their money on. LI NGO RI.E!Products to sell to other people. It was not making any money.. The youngest sister lived in Miami as a library. In school. She was married once but her husband died. It took a long time to get over it but she met this man from england. He had secrets too. His first marriage ended in divorce and he had a little girl. thank you netgalley for the e-arc. while i was entertained most of the whole time reading, this did not need to be almost 300 pages. i thought the fact that all the conflicts were easily resolved with no issues...what was the point every time building up a character that wouldn't have been missed. if this was supposed to be a family drama, where is the buildup and the natural tension families really feel when there is conflict? none of the characters had personality, they had some backstory.

Three sisters with a complicated upbringing descend upon Mumberton castle in England to watch their sister get married. Sylvie, the bride, a librarian is still hurting from the death of her previous husband Alex. Cleo is a successful criminal defense attorney torn between two loves, and Emma is the one who stayed at home in Missouri, married a teacher, had sons, but she is keeping a big secret from her family. Their toxic mother, Donna, also crashes the wedding party.

Positives:
Quick read, short chapters, each chapter alternates between the multiple characters from a third person perspective
Entertaining read
Themes such as love, loss, found family, betrayal, financial infidelity, secrets revealed, childhood trauma, forgiveness

Negatives:
None really-it was just an enjoyable, quick read

After reading this book, I wish I could be like one of the characters and start back over at an old castle in the English countryside.

"Once upon a time, the Peacock sisters were little girls who combed each other’s tangled hair. But decades of secrets have led them to separate lives—and to telling lies, to themselves and to one another."
"Set over a spectacularly dramatic weekend, in the grand halls of a sprawling castle estate—amid floor-to-ceiling libraries, falconry lessons, and medieval meals—Lovers and Liars is the unforgettable story of a family’s ability to forgive and to find joy in one another once again."

One sister's wedding forces the sisters, and their mother, back together again. Once all of their secrets are confessed, will it bring them back together, or tear them more apart?
This one goes back and forth between each sister and their individual lives. It occasionally was a little confusing for me with timeline changes, but overall this was a cute story and good read.

Thank you to Netgalley, the publisher and the author, for an ARC of this book, in exchange for an honest review.
The premise of the book drew me in but once I started reading it, I just couldn’t get into it at all.
I wish the author, publisher and all those promoting the book much success and connections with the right readers.

I enjoyed this book a lot, and I think the cover and title may be misleading - I went into it expecting a light romance but it was deeper and more complex than that. Lovers and Liars focuses on the 3 Peacock sisters, now in their 30s/40s, who had a pretty traumatic childhood at the hands of their narcissistic mother, and who now are dealing with their own struggles in their relationships with each others, their partners and families, and their careers. The book centers around the wedding of the youngest, and takes the reader on some excellent roller coasters to get there. I really enjoyed all the sisters, and the other characters, and how everything came together. Honestly, I would read a prequel to this.

The emphasis should be on liars because all sisters are unable to tell the truth.
I found all 3 to be very unlikable. I thought Sylvia was fake. I felt sorry for Danny after the lies and leading him on that Chloe orchestrated. Emma was the worst, however, by emptying all their assets and not confessing to it. While I felt sorry for,her husband Rich, I also thought he was a doormat.
About the only redeeming thing was the castle setting.

A cute romance book about 3 different sisters, brought together by Sylvie's wedding! When everyone meets at a spectacular castle, Sylvie's sisters can't help but be alarmed at the swiftness of this wedding and have many questions. Drama infuses in the weekend and the reader is left wondering if any of this is a good idea.

A nice story, but also lacked depth with some of the characters. At times, I felt bored with the story and started to skim.

Thank you, NetGalley, for an advanced copy of this novel.

This story really took me by surprise. I was expecting a rom com style and got sisterhood, family dysfunction, grief, raw honesty, and a happily ever after times 3!! When the Peacock sisters get together in an old castle to celebrate Sylvies wedding all the facade falls apart. The arrival of Donna, their mother, bring the girls closer than ever as they see now where things all went wrong and they run towards their futures instead.

Lovers and Liars tells the story of the three Peacock sisters. It delves into each of the sister's lives and the lies they keep from each other and their families/friends. They have gathered for a wedding of one sister, Sylvie, in a castle in England which belongs to her fiance's family. As the story unfolds over the wedding weekend, calamities ensue and secrets come out. The book delves into each sister so you get a good sense of who they are now and how their lives came to this point. It is an engaging story even if at times the sisters are not that likable. When their mother arrives, you get a whole other layer of what their younger lives were like. Although a lot of the situations are not realistic, they are funny and keep you engaged with theie story. The epilogue ties everything up nicely. This would be a good beach read.

2.75 out of 5. There weren’t that many lies or that many lovers. It just felt a bit blah. The whole book is looking back from a buildup crisis moment, but when we get there its more of a contained explosion that a true bomb. I liked the sister relationship and wished there would have been more flashback to them. Additionally the moving negative balance in Emma’s chapters confused me as she wasn’t spending whilst in the castle - it’s not like she was using her credit card - was it the rent or mortgage back home ? that was a little thing but it was annoying me, like if you are showing me i want to know why? Additionally Why was the mom invited to the wedding? in the end, I did not fully get the ending, I was confused and it was just weird, also and why was Penelope doing the epilogue?

Amanda Eyre Ward most recent book is about Sylvie and Simon (Sylvie’s fiancé), and Sylvie’s sisters (Emma and Cleo), as they all prepare for Slyvie’s upcoming wedding. I struggled with the story - I’ve enjoyed other books by this author, and she does a good job writing about strained family dynamics, but these sisters and their relationship with their toxic mother just didn’t grab me. Perhaps their mother was just too toxic for my liking… or the sister’s’ relationship with each other (or lack thereof) too hard to understand. I appreciate the early access to the book. Thank you to Random House Ballentine Books.

I really enjoyed this story of three sisters who find themselves together for a weekend that brings out old secrets and new challenges. Anyone who loves a good family drama filled with complicated dynamics, dysfunctional family members, and long-kept secrets coming out will love this.

Another wonderful heartwarming and compelling entry into this author's ouevre. A sweet and enjoyable read, though it does require a healthy suspension of disbelief that I haven't had to employ in the author's other works. So if you've found some of the author's other subject matter heavy but appreciate her lovingly honest writing style, this novel will be a great fit for you.

This is well written story of three sisters who are each dealing with life altering situations. Sylvie is getting married at an English castle, she’s almost sure she’s doing the right thing, the first thing she needs to do is stop talking to her deceased first husband.

Cleo is a successful lawyer who’s discovered some dirt on Sylvie’s fiancé Simon and can’t wait to tell her. Who is she really trying to save?
Emma is hiding money issues from her family, she wants to have her own fragrance line but got caught in a pyramid scheme. They can’t afford the trip to England but she can’t miss her sister’s wedding.

All the secrets come out at the wedding. Will there even be a wedding?
I enjoyed reading this one, 4 stars.

From the publisher:
Three wildly different sisters reunite for a destination wedding at an English castle in this heartfelt and rollicking novel from the New York Times bestselling author of The Jetsetters.
Set over a spectacularly dramatic weekend, in the grand halls of a sprawling castle estate—amidst floor-to-ceiling libraries, falconry lessons, and medieval meals—Lovers and Liars is the unforgettable story of a family’s ability to forgive and to find joy in one another once again.
